The guide book is supposed to have builds in it. From what the previews say, it sounds like you should play however you feel comfortable playing. Unless you're used to working with perk systems like this, I'd say let it come to you naturally while you're playing.

That is cool. I always wondered how you just "purchased" a spell from a guy, like it's something you can hand over.
-
I saw a video where at some point the person playing grabbed a book, which fell open in his "havoc grip", and started knocking stuff off of the table by accident. I don't think they've added place-locking.

As far as I know, you can buy spells. That's one of the major reasons to find the College of Winterhold. You can't craft spells, which is probably what you were thinking of.

I hope the bug fixes are just for small things, I definitely won't be able to get the game patched that day...
Steam doesn't allow to run unpatched games if it detects that there is a patch available (ie. if you activate it and it "sees" the patch you must download it before you can launch the game).
I hate to say it, but that won't apply to me because I recently had to switch my preorder to PS3. You can avoid patches if you play Steam in offline mode, which I've had to do with other games in the past (because of the download cap on my interwebz).
I do want to get the patch as soon as possible, though. I've got 2-3 game that need patching on the PS3, I just haven't been able to get over to my friends house to do it (he's got work seemingly all the time).

Oh god, get that thing neutered. You definitely don't want a Khajiit spraying everywhere.

I actually had a character in Oblivion that did that. Once I got his reflect damage rating all the way up, I actually made the Gatekeeper kill himself in the Shivering Isles. If I were making a pacifist, I'd give him light armor for the 10% dodge bonus and the stamina regen bonus.

They had just about nothing but good to say about the game, so I enjoyed it. Even if it was a bs article.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif

It sounds like the best thing to do if you aren't sure is to just play the game and do what feels the right.

In Skyrim, conjured weapons looks spectral and ethereal, so I can't be sure.
That's just to make the weapons distinguishable and neat looking.
They'll still be real items in game and have item addresses with normal item properties like they did in Oblivion, more than likely. I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure to hit something before your weapon despawns.

I just noticed that you said in the op that you didn't want to kill "people". So does that mean that you're fine with killing creatures?
-
You can improve your armor via smithing, but nothing wacky like having "eyes" on your armor.

My issue is that you heal when moving out of combat.
I wouldn't mind a way to heal yourself through magic or bandaging.
Like a method to sit down in a animation and heal yourself up. I simply don't like that you heal when moving.
I'd love for passive healing to only work while immobile, but I'm playing on console.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/facepalm.gif
I'm fine with it, though. Much less dying from minor things like dropping from a slightly high ledge after clearing a dungeon. It also keeps me from having to level restoration (which you shouldn't have to do to survive...). Anyone with the PC version shouldn't complain, just mod the function out.

They said that using hand to hand you can dispatch people in a non lethal way, of course there is no skill for this but you get damage bonus for heavy armor gloves if you perk it. So while hand 2 hand isn't going to be the most flexible play style, it does seem to possible. And as has been said Illusion could really help with this. Also maybe use some spells to drain stamina and to burden.
Hand-to-hand is lethal, that'd definitely not be the way to go if you don't want to kill people.

Dragons DO actually land on the ground, lol. They won't stay in the air for the entire encounter. The only thing they can hit you with while remaining out of melee reach would be their own shouts.

Try contacting the author of the mod to see if he/she will getting Skyrim and if they wouldn't mind remaking the mod for Skyrim. I would love to use the armor in Skyrim as well.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif

I read from a few gameplay articles that between battles, it's fast enough to fully heal you. I don't think you have to worry about being invincible in combat, though.

Why isn't there a "beards" option in this poll?
-
I'd try em' all out if I were you...and if you were me with your mind and I were you with my mind.
Each race has their own unique abilities and looks. If you're not too familiar with the races, the best thing to do would be to get familiar with them. I'll be playing a Nord, but that's only because I started as a Nord in Oblivion.
Here's something to help with your decision-

By the time we're in line, waiting to pick up Skyrim, we'll probably be saying otherwise. I've got plans to make the week go by faster, like, tv series and whatnot to watch.

So there isn't a necromancy school, then what school allows revival of critters like the mudcrab and chicken?
Conjuration dictates necromancy, there are perks for it, too.

Getting out and exercising in the mornings and afternoons makes time fly by rather fast. For anyone with nothing to do, I very much advise you give it a try. Plus, GRAW 2 (or whatever else you can find) in between helps.

Usually when I party with dragons, there's music, food, she-dragons, and the occasional yahoo that sets stuff on fire.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/biggrin.gif
Really, it means to have a dragon as an ally (which is in the game as far as I know). A lot of people want to ride dragons as well (which is not in the game as far as I know).

It's really rogues and bandits that use violence while they steal/take stuff, thieves are typically harmless. I think the Warrior, Wizard, and Thief archetypes are best thought of as umbrellas that various aspects of your characters fall under, rather than trees that you should pick if you're playing a specific archetype.
