They definitely take place between the Oblivion crisis and Skyrim. I started the first, took a break, and never got back to finishing it. I guess I should...

Ugh, my brother wants me to switch my PC Collectors Edition preorder to PS3. I wish I had the money for my own PC or laptop. I bought Oblivion for the PC before I had a PC to play it on (I have a habit of doing that with games), but I've long since moved out of my dads and have no computer of my own to play it on. What a conundrum....

So your preview, the recent G4 video, and the fact that they've started playing Skyrim commercials here (which prompt me to tell anyone else seeing it that I've preordered it) have me all excited for the game again.
Fantastic article, btw. I was laughing all the way through it.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif

You know, people keep mentioning the midnight release as being pointless, but if you play on console or have the Collectors Edition, you'll have something to do. I've never done a midnight release for a Steam based game, but I'd do it even if I just had the basic edition just to get out of the house.
But consoles don't really match PC version... it's like matchbox cars and race cars.
If you plan on modding it, then yeah, you shouldn't get the console version. Believe it or not, there are people (like my brother) that don't do modding. I, on the other hand, want to create mods, so I'm getting the PC version. I'll probably buy the PS3 version eventually, since the PC I'll be using is my brothers. It'll be a spectacular game, even without mods.

As long as the game works for me, I'd be fine if they made me wait a whole day. I don't like that they rely on Steam so much, but there's nothing we can do about it now.

You should burst into their offices with head turning fury and say, "I'M HERE TO KICK SOME NAMES AND TAKE SOME ASS!" and wait for a response. Typically, people then are confused enough by your act and comment enough to give you what you want.

I've been saying I'd do silly stuff like this as a joke... but I'd prolly never get around to it.
-
Yeah, I would be pretty pissed (but still love Beth like I was an adopted child). Whatever decision they make, at least you'll be able to enjoy the game.http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif
I personally would have spilled Skyrims secrets out to you had I worked there, if that makes you feel any better.

It's a whole lot more convenient to go to, though, when there's little traffic and you don't have to drive your gas guzzling truck there because you're already out with company. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/yes.gif
Boy oh boy does my truck like to guzzle gas.

That would explain why my local store kept telling me Dark Souls wasn't getting a midnight release until I asked again the day before the game came out. We coincidentally didn't have anything else to do but play Minecraft and since my friend had another day off of work, we just hung at his place until an hour before midnight.

I understand where you're coming from, lol. If you can stand American comics at least, then you can read the series like I did. If you were curious at all, it's about war and mercenaries. Like, medieval war, mercenaries, and kings with fiefdoms and moats.
Rather than derailing the thread into Berserk, I'd like to ask stuff about you working at GS. Specifically about midnight releases, is it just your manager that lets you know when ya'll are doing those?

Fullmetal is kind of classic anime these days, they used to air it on the used-to-be-fairly-popular Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network (a channel I grew up with). I can't stand all those random ass shows from Japan and can't stand being around the people that do, though (at least outside of the web...).
Berserk is far more realistic up to a certain point (being based in its own medieval world), then they drop the ball and s*** gets weird, but still awesome weird. I actually found out about it first from a few mods on the Nexus, then recognized the content on the cover of the series and started reading it.
The first mod-Dragonslayer
The second mod-Berserk quest

@Raz-Correct!
I'm not big into anime/manga, but I found Berserk one day last year and got hooked on the manga. I've tried getting into other manga, but no can do. The series is about 20 something years in the making, believe it or not. I recommend it completely.
@Nate-I've used that trick before, lol. Good thinking.

I think it'll be a good couple of a lot of years before people forget FF7. I was hoping someone would recognize what series the blade I posted was...http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/unsure.gif

Yeah, a "hang around" party for Skyrim is just a silly concept. For that reason, I'll have to get a claymore specifically for getting my box out to the truck safely. I'm not having anyone get near it but me.
My weapon of choice

(Mostly wanna know if people know this sword lol)
Wow, I didn't even see this post before mine. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/ninja.gif
I guess if the crowds will call for big swords, I'll have to get my hands on this-
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080609104028/berserk/images/8/8a/Dragonslayer01.jpg
While googling for this specific sword, I also found this-http://www.deviantart.com/download/144002053/Berserk_Dragon_Slayer_by_InfectedGuili.jpgwhich I just had to post. It's funny that because the sword is drawn at different lengths all the time, it's fair game for people to make it as long and just about as wide as they want.

People are probably busy or they're trying to keep from "spoiling" the game for themselves. It'll probably last until a few days before release, then go dead as mentioned.
-
That's the one silver lining to me not having a full-time job and not being in college-I've got all the free time I need for Skyrim.

I've never been to a midnight release "party". Is it actually an event that people hang around for? If so, they're definitely not doing it here.
-
Damn, I call that planning ahead!
I applied at my local GS not too long ago, but they ended up hiring some ditzy chick instead. Oh well.
-
I'm a simply a monk kind of guy that just has to be able to kill a dragon with my fists. Speaking of, did you try hand to hand at all, Dave?
-
I know mine is definitely doing a midnight release. They'll probably have posters and whatnot, but I'd rather get in, get my CE box, and walk out victorious, lol.
@Raz-Walk out of the store like a boss.

I've read almost all of the 3-hour playtime articles, and still absolutely zero information on light armor. I don't even care that much about light armor, I'm just curious that there is still zero information on it. Hopefully you got something on it while playing.
Well, I wore nothing BUT light armor. What do you want to know? I didn't write down all the perks but they were mostly things like "Light armor values are increased by 5%" etc. Not all that exciting. It's armor. :-p
I miss the unarmored skill...
I know what you mean! It's one of the only things I really thought that Morrowind had over Oblivion... until I got a mod for it.
I look forward to the preview. I hope it's as good or better than the last.

Are you and your character similar?
in Skyrim LE

I create four of the same characters, which I've done since the 4th grade, if possible in every game. All are guys, btw.
Unoe-Typically a caster, in D&D, he's usually lawful evil or neutral evil.
Sudduken-Typically a fighter or paladin, he's usually of any good or neutral alignment, except for chaotic.
Sunoeken-Has been a spellsword, ranger, rogue, and monk. He's usually neutral.
Altre-Enjoys being a badass and doing whatever the hell he pleases, he ends up being the character that breaks boundaries in games because he's the character that I exploit bugs and glitches with.
If I do make a female character, it's usually a destruction caster or rogue named Ellie.
None of the guys are based on me at all because I'm simply not as badass as the characters I make.
