Why can I not update my FO3Edit?
Sti3ld3rby69 replied to Sti3ld3rby69's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Someone...please help me... -
Whole thing looks sweet man. Can't wait to play it when finished.
-
I recently moved my Fallout 3 destination to a folder on my hard drive, not in Program Files, so that I could use Archive Invalidation Invalidated! I have the Steam version, and everything SEEMED to go through smoothly. My FOOM works, but when I open it up with FO3Edit it says: "Fatal: Could not open registry key: \SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\" Any help with this problem? I have the most current versions of everything.
-
The best way to go about doing that would probably be to ask some of the guys and gals who have taken on the HUGE modding projects, i.e. MMM, FOOK, FO3E, etc.
-
I recently got done learning how to install mods, and it has been working with my Steam version of Fallout 3 (all things updated to their most current state). In most mods I am learning that ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! is necessary, however it won't run through the Program Files location (where Steam installs the game in it's default state - cannot change location through Steam preferences). Is there any way to install Fallout 3 in a different location? If not, am I able to merely move all of the application files into another location and run it from there? Please help me so I can continue using mods. Thanks.

Just came back to this thread. Wow...

Alright cool deal. I'm having a crazy time with college, won't get stuff sorted for about a week, maybe two. Won't be able to get anything cemently set until around that time.
-
That's a lot of stuff to reply about...ok than. Tony: Poly count, poly count, poly count. Test that stuff in-engine before solidifying that you're going to use it. Have you started texturing? I asssume the chair texture isn't done...right? And I've taken drafting...if I can find my old supplies I'll throw down some actual blueprints...but it takes a while. Everything has to be labeled, organized, and lined up. Believe me, it helps with the modeling too. If I can't find my stuff, I'm not gonna go throw down some bucks just for this project. No offense, but I just don't have the time nor the funds. Quetz...whatever: I like the hedgerow as a boundary. I agree about the NPC thing too, although it would kinda suck to not experience the entirety of what the town has to offer...but hey, let people exploit the save system if they really want to. Death is a part of life, people.
-
Good idea. Making the walls anything higher than 10 or 15 feet though would be kinda ridiculous. Look at the Citadel...those are professionals that built that thing around a building already there. So to get all of this stuff and make a NEW and MORE FORTIFIED complex wouldn't make too much sense. Don't go overboard. As for the east and southeast...is there any kind of gate/fence/physical boundary at all? I couldn't really tell, even though I saw there was a "Guard" posting over there.

[WIP] Friendly New Neighbors a quest mod
Sti3ld3rby69 replied to sesom's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Thank you very much i will update my mod in a few days. In the moment i am working on part II and populate the Bingham Street in Pittsbourgh. According the lines you are refering to. Spoiler ahead: I hope this make the complicated context a little bit clearer. Thanks again for the hard work. Awesome thanks man. It should be good in that case, just review all the files and give me either a "yay" or "nay". I'll await your reply. I'd also love to help with parts II and III. -

You have a couple of context issues on some lines that seem weird to me...as in I am not sure what you were trying to say. FNN01TN-REVISED has a few: Rows 78 and 80, columns O and P. I changed the transition and it still seems odd. Why does he say "My Pip-Boy..."? And than the guy that had his collar activated tells the Player Character that he's looking to be a slaver? ...Does that work? 88 through 90 make little sense to me too, but that's your call. In 79 I assume he's transitioning from a regular person into a slave. FNN01BN-REVISED has a few issues too regarding your context. Look over everything and tell me how it looks. Thanks, Zakk -

If possible double so it can be better used as a script if you dont mind. Without equipment there is no possibility right. Its hard to find someone, because you need a good microphone and a preamplifier to get good quality. The typical cheap PC microphone sounds terrible like a cellphone conversations. I was lucky and found a tube amplifier at a lawn sale for about 25$ normaly this one costs about 200$ and became a complete hiqh qualitty microphone set as presents. For the mod i used cheapest of the set and it sounds great. Alright I'll go back and fix that up. I finished almost everything, besides respacing and final spell/grammar checks. Yeah the quality didn't sound too bad...acting wasn't as good though haha. No offense given. -

It's no problem. I'm almost done with all of it. Do you want single spacing or double spacing in between sentences? Just watched the trailers...I would definitely like to help with the voice work but I'm not sure how that is possible. I live in Arizona in the US and have no recording equipment. -
Sounds cool. How does it look? You should check, but I think you can just add the AI behavior to eyebots. As for the names...apparently my aforementioned points had no affect on those unwilling to read. Great job, kids.

Lookin good. You may want to take a quick break from the voiceover work. I've been working on the dialogue, and you have some spelling/context errors, so some lines may need to be changed around. When I am completely finished I will send it to you and you can compare the originals with the edits. -
I am using your ideas in my list I am talking to the people that don't like my list, that if they can come up with something new and better, then tell me, but I am not going to go with the old names The biggest problem with names is that we form ideas about names based on who we have known with that name, which will be nothing at all like the people someone else has met with that same name... The fact that every Karen and Elli I have ever met was over 50, makes it hard for me to keep it as a name for a young girl. I am more likely to use names of girls I went to High School with or whatever. But I still don't understand what exactly makes a "Post-War" Fallout name... I personally like the list that I put up a few pages back, but I just wanted to give everyone a chance to voice their opinions. That's fine. I've known people with tons of these kinds of names at various ages. Just because someone is named something that society deems "different" doesn't make it bad. Oh and please stop with the biblical names. We get it.
-
...dude. I put up about 35 suggestions each. You can find something. And thank you guys for the input on some of the other stuff. It was kinda vague, but at least we're in the right vein. EDIT: Biblical names usually don't get passed down by bible-enthusiasts. They have become fairly common, and I'm sure that they have been passed on by many a family. Not all bible-readers need to name their children after such characters, and the same goes for "other" people.
-
Alrighty. I'm gonna go through name by name. We got...: Anna's Family --------> Shelling Family: Marcus Shelling - Oldest Brother, Jacob Shelling - Father, Zackary (Biblical Name) or Rhodes (Holistic Name) Shelling - Youngest Brother, Anna Shelling - Daughter Carpenter --------> Jeremiah Dixon Cliff --------> Austin Reed Mayor's Family --------> Greenfield Family: Cale Greenfield - Mayor, Popari (Acacia, Correy, Hazel, Sage) Greenfield - Daughter, (Summer, Susan, Sheryl, Barbara, Kaleigh) Greenfield - Mother, Lilly Greenfield - Daughter Bartender --------> Lee Dezparda Maria's Family --------> Kaplan Family: Rick Kaplan - Father, (Jessica, Amber, Erin, Erika, Rachael) Kaplan - Mother, Maria (Emma, Brooke, Kelsey) Kaplan - Daughter General --------> Sherman Rahavi Old Lady's Family --------> Ryder Family: Helena Ryder - Old Lady, Tristan Ryder - Grandson, Melissa Ryder - Granddaughter Elli --------> Jennifer Davis, or (Susan, Sheryl, Kathleen, Virginia, Joyce, Patricia, Beverly, Judith or Judy)...last name? - Relation? Ghoul --------> Franklin, or (Enson, Anton, Daniel, Jaxon) Barber --------> (Crunkle, Billstead, Yorgen, Haggard) Everything in GREY is completed (or so I thought). Everything in GREEN is based on your decision. All the suggestions are there. If you want more, let me know and I'll cook em up, no effort spared. [[NAME SUGGESTIONS: Male - First Names: Desmond, Isaiah, Cornelius, Ezekiel, Kasey, Jesse, Leland, Lochlan, Kolton, Elias, Owen, Quentin, Demetrius, Sherman, Zackary, Brayden, Tyshawn Male - Last Names: Lazarus, Heyworth, Brooks, Mayer, Brodt, Shelling, Julian, Townsend, Rhodes, Schmidt, Brodt, Shelling, Julian, Townsend, Rhodes, Schmidt, Rayl, Reed, Culp, Faerer, Muehler, Field, Lerner, Krueller, Ford, Olson, Xavier, Rias, Jermaine, Dyson, Dixon, Goodspeed, Lighton, Brecken, Greenfield, Raygell, Aubrey, Elherd, Harver, Jameson, Forreguth, Teilly, Relenthal, Kellen, Aherd, Rahav, Freese, Gustafson, Aluralle, Tyko, Tykes Female - First Names: Roselyn, Amber, Helena, Autumn, Kaleigh, Nyla, Nia, Naomi, Brianne, Evelynn, Ashlynn, Arianna, Sarena Female - Last Names: Aftin, Loeren, Staed, Haelen, Raelynn, Faygan, Merrick, Wellford, Crofton, Gelding, Plymmist, Herald, Meeks, Becken, Kaplan, Harborough, Boumuth, Brodt, Shelling, Julian, Townsend, Rhodes, Schmidt, Worrow, Morren, Smytheson, Harbroht, Sienagal, Warmon, Ryder, Bonham, Lester, Detrick, Gearney Brodt, Shelling, Julian, Townsend, Rhodes, Schmidt, Larson, Jacobs, Lester, Devonn, Williams, Ryanne, Parks, Aerium, Beryll, Steed, Pinestith, Roosevelt, Jackson, Lincoln, Washington, Massey]] If this isn't enough for you people to squabble over...may god help us all.

I researched some of the names, some I made up, some are people I know. If you haven't noticed...Fallout is in the vein of a futuristic 1950's. And the names that match that style...don't work? Productive input would be nice, not "this doesn't sound right because it matches really well." Only research and validity will make your point worth consideration. I don't mean it as an offense, but it's a major asset to creating a well-accepted and acknowledged idea. I will post ALL names that I have come up with. Please either try to fill in the blanks with the names I have provided, or add input where you fill in the blanks yourself. But please research! Thanks much. QUOTE (Tony the Wookie @ Aug 12 2009, 11:11 PM) Popari = Sage Greenfeild Ann = Anna Shelling Maria = Emma Kaplan Elli = Jennifer Davis -----> ? Karen = Kaylee Moore ------> ? Popari = ? (Tony, I asked to run it by me with email first. Just trying to work co-operatively.)

The jail is just a small room inside of the barraks, I currently have no function for it, but I am going to build it so we can expand later. I was also thinking of possibly haveing Karen get arrested for beating the crap out a guy that won't stop hitting on her at the bar and just haveing a short dialogue where you bail her out or something. I have all my files backed up, just not posts I put onto the forums... I stick all of my meshes and textures on a Memory Stick Duo Pro (camera card) since I don't trust hard drives. That way if my computer goes down I still have all the files Good deal dude. I'm at the Navmesh section of GECK. I'm gonna try to read at least 4 sections a day for the while until I get my motherboard. I'd love to do the quests once I figure it out. Thanks for the credit dude. I like the drunk fight thing, Ryan. As for the names...I gave you that whole list. There's plenty for you to pick from if you want to change them. If you really want me to decide on the last few I will, but you just seemed slightly indecisive about it so I left it for your choosing. EDIT: And don't forget to put up the names for the Ghoul, Barber, and anyone else you mightve forgotten! I personally like Haggard for the Barber.
-
We have a jail? That seems like a whole different section...would definitely slow down some development time. A "Hitman" mod WITHIN this mod, which already includes: realistic life, agriculture, and relationship building, seems like another huge bump in the road. Awesome suggestion, maybe just for a later time? Also, Tony, may want to start backing up character details on Notepad at the very least. Other than that it's ok to be unorganized for the time being. It's just a pain in the ass losing stuff than having to redo it (especially in Max, KEEP BACKUPS!) We're almost done with all the naming! Woo! I could maybe name all the town locations next? Long as you have a list without us having a map. I am not sure...let me know.

Awesome. Not like that stuff was important or anything. Thought the server move was done?

Cool stuff man, it's lookin really good.

Thanks for the offer. One of the improvements of the new version is the spelling. pihwht did a great work. Thanks again. If there are new errors foud i am happy to contact you. Did i mentioned this is Part One only ? ;) I am working on Part Two in the moment and there are surely enough errors to find. For clarity reasons the complete changes list here again: Changes: Bug: Fixed critical questending bug with Donalds favour request. Bug: removed crappy voice acting (good one is stil in) Bug: thanks again to pihwt: complete spellcheck overhall Add: some greeting dialogue for Donald added Add: MsgBox for main- and some minorquestendings. Add: jintnote for "Your Neck" jailscene Add: sign to make Dickies "moods" clearer Add: mapmarker for evil startoption of "Their Neck" Feat (easy version): Fasttravel allowed in this version This is my second try to send this post. I hope i am not the reason for the server errors yesterday. To revive a two months old thread is not nice i know. Sorry about that. But i needed the break. Yeah no problem. It looks like a cool mod. I'm in the process of learning the GECK...just started the NavMesh tutorial. I'd love to help once I get all the necessary education done. -

If you give me the dialogue in a Word or Notepad format I will do all spell checking and localization for you. I can not open .esp files at the moment.
