nah, thats a bit much, and sort of a cliche, considering the following Che has nowadays but (forget the Barber's name) but it was a bit weird, could do with a change oh, and about Ghouls they don't age cause one of the women in the Underworld restaurants gets mentioned as a "prewar ghoul" that she was born human before the war, and became a ghoul when the bombs dropped, and she was in her mid twenties even 200 years after her ghoulification so the bit about Franklin being a younger Ghoul wouldn't fit, maybe he just wanted to settle down and got tired of being a wastelander? (I'm just being overly picking about details) It'd still be nice to stay in the vein of Revolutionaries. Maybe war heroes? Watson...name of a revolutionary and a couple heroes. Better than Glorpok or whatever it was, no offense of course. And Ghouls do age. They are just people who decompose at a much slower rate than unaffected humans. So, in reality, Franklin could be older, you'd just have to make sure their age was appropriated to the age they were once the bombing began. It's not like they'd live forever.

Probably using the stealth boy effect and changing the color scheme. And yes the steak is still good. Some things they did out of need for aesthetic and playability in the post-world environment.
-
Guess you can't say s*h*i*t. Also, try to do spell check on the stuff you post. I'm copy/pasting some of it into Word. And, let's rename the Super Mutant Barber. I figure they had Fawkes in the game, why not another revolutionary? Maybe Ernesto "Che" Guevara, call the mutie barber Che or something? Thought it'd be cool. Let me know.

Holy poo x3. I will add this to the info I got from your email. And if you make the windows 100 polys that's fine, but always remember - the fewer the better. Modeling is about what he player sees, not what actually exists.
-
Put up some screens when you get them. I really want to see how this is coming along!
-
...but that is probably because it is set 200 years after a nuclear war that spanned the entire world....not much in the way of freshly produced armor. Even if it was stored it doesn't stay in perfectly preserved shape for that period of time.

I don't know how the GECK works yet. When I find out I'll inquire on that post haha. The engines I've seen use objects/meshes as "brushes", where the engine adds it as an entity that can be stacked or combined with other entities. Again, won't know for a bit. The wheel just looked a little funny because of the heavy lines running ACROSS the wheel itself, not the spokes. Looks like someone just cut a huge hole out of a tree trunk and molded it (thats not how wheels work/are made). Maybe just take noticeable stuff out of that texture? Or make it go around the wheel instead of cutting across. Your choice.
-
Looks good so far. I assume you aren't doing a questline with this?
-
And on the wheel, make sure you do unwrap. Unless you have a completely generic shape or, in special instances, a completed model that can use basic texture maps, there is no reason you shouldn't use unwrap (and yes, it is always a female dog to deal with).

_____ Yeah Max and hair don't go too well together. The best way to o it when optimizing for an engine, probably any engine, would be to make a basic model covering the head and supplement the actual hair with a texture. Opacity is your friend. I like the haircuts idea though. If I had the game in front of me I'ld tell you where the cemetary was, but I don't remember. I think it's on the way to the White House (unofficial location). You can look it up. But go there and tell me what you think. I think adding special days would be a whole 'nother mod, but damn that would be amazing. Than again, the most used phrase on these threads is "that would be cool". You give me a specific writing job and I'll get it done. I'd love to read what you got already. I can do names if you would like. I understand you are busy. Have you done interiors in Max? It's a whole different ballpark. Make sure you read up before you undertake tht endeavor. And don't start a new thread, just create a word file (or notepad document, which would be slightly easier and more accessible) and PM it to anyone with interest. You can try a thread actually now that I think about it...but it could get logjammed fast.

So...a couple of unique ideas are coming out of this so far, besides the overall concept of course (just based on what I've seen): Haircuts Birthdays Ties to the Arlington Cemetary Do you even want to play on those ideas? Just curious. In addition, I think the writing would be EXTREMELY complicated, if you have 15 NPC's that need to have either interaction with each other or acknowledgement that they are all in co-existence. It can be done, it would just take a while. Maybe a long while. I'm thinking Node based (think sideways tree, ties in dialogue amongst characters). Do you have any quest dialogue you want out of this? I'm thinking not official quests due to the amount of modding required, but maybe tasks on the side and persistent/passive stuff you could use. If you had profiles for all characters (traits on personality and such), it would make it easier. Also, regarding names...please use original names? I can understand using a few from the game (I've never played it), but it is FALLOUT, not HARVEST MOON. So a cameo or two wouldn't be in bad taste, just don't go nuts. PM me if you need to. This thread seems to be a bunch of floating ideas with no ACTUAL documentation, which seems required because you are getting some momentum.
-
You get me a copy of Max, I'll get you some models.
-
Awesome thanks. Any other help/ideas?

No problem. I've just really enjoyed this game, logged in over 100 hours, and can't get enough...but want to add so much to the world. If I ever can help, I'd love to be first in line. Very nice. Yeah you can go a number of different ways. Only other Fallout game I played was the PS2 one, which wasn't that great. Just looked up Tactics though, seems like an interesting concept and I could see how you could play off the characteristics of the Brotherhood in that vein. Yeah it doesn't seem terrible. I've been reading some tutorials even without it functional...little more difficult without the source in front of you but I can understand the adjustments needed to enable someone to work with it. What's the timeframe you're looking for in terms of completion?

Republic of "player" (instead of dave)
Sti3ld3rby69 replied to kennyimpala's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Ideas
If you could find someone to do a surefire mod of it through GECK I'd love to help you with any other aspect. But it seems you kinda dumped the idea for some of your other mods anyway...what gives? Anyway it's a great idea, especially since: A. It is a side quest. B. The Republic is already marked on the trade routes. C. You could use moral choice in either being a democratic leader or a tyrant. D. The location is remote and could provide use for expansion. Almost a miniature empire (but not quite to that degree - technical limitations. E. Lots of unique dialogue could be created there. Especially in either commanding the people, ordering the women around (not in a sexist way, it's just that there are a lot less guys in the Republic), and possibly doing something special for the kids. You could also use the Republic as a slave breeding ground. The options are plenty. Let me know if this goes any further. -
Congrats in general to this entire mod. It looks absolutely astounding from what I can tell. If you want any help writing I'd be more than willing to help, starting this coming Monday (got my only vacation of the summer coming up). Haven't started school yet and my work hours got cut, so I have plenty of free time. The plot you've got going seems like it can play itself out to the Brotherhood expanding upon the results of what happens with Perryman, especially if you make the outcome favor the guilty aspect of your "trial", or whatever it is that is being achieved. Also gives me some faith in learning to use the GECK once I get my computer running again, as it seems you've been learning how to mess with it with at least some relative ease. All in all, this is a great project and I hope you can get as much involvement as possible. In regards to lighting: I don't know how it works in the GECK or Fallout system, but couldn't you just bake lighting/specularity into the textures for the mannequins? I saw what you were trying to achieve and how it failed, someone said Godray effect, which is incorrect, plus I believe the game does allow use for them. Actually...why not try to emit a white godray from the lights you have setup behind the mannequins? Wouldn't this create blurry vision/blindness, and possibly enough light to create a near-silouhette appearance on the dolls? Don't know how that works in practice, but it seems better than just adding more lights that make it look like one object is more affected by the rest, in dramatic measure. My apologies if this is slightly convoluted, it is 3 in the morning and I can not get off of this damn site for some reason.

Using mods in the steam version of Fallout3?
Sti3ld3rby69 replied to KazSadique's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
At the moment I've been having the same problems. I am extremely regretting purchasing the game from Steam, and will never buy another product from those whorish fiends ever again. -
A little background, apologies for the dubious hours it will take you to ascertain the information: I am fairly new to this particular forum; I am already a member of the GECK forums as well as the Fallout/Bethsoft forums. I have been spending the last couple of hours looking at some of the mods created within the Fallout 3 universe, and I am absolutely amazed by the quality and quantity by many of the mods released on this site. This led me to searching for what other ideas people are gathering in order to further enhance the experience provided by the game. Which leads me here. I am currently writing from a computer that is not my own, as mine is temporarily out of commission. Before it had become completely busted, however, I was unable to run the GECK after installation (which I have tried fixing per forum assistance to no avail), and my game has been consistently crashing (possibly because I am running the Steam version - never purchase the Steam version). Anyways, what I am going to request comes from someone who hopes to be a potential modder and enthusiast within this thriving community. I have done my research and understand the best way to complete these tasks is by doing them myself, but at the moment I have no way of doing so, so I will lend my creative passion towards the hands of others in hope that I can assist with someone who can take my dreams and make them into fruition. __________________________________________________________________ So, the list begins (If you have not played, spoilers do permit): 1. Music - Although the game has over 20 licensed songs plus a score by Inon Zur and violin compositions performed by whichever musician played those, I seem to hear the same songs over and over again. I understand the music selection is not extremely plentiful, but I do hear repitition within each hour I play the game, which should not occur by my understanding considering the amount of content. Although it does matter what station you are listening to, or if you are listening to one at all, the same tracks happen to play over and over again. Bottom Line - Is there any way to add music from the same artists, genre, time period, or musical scores into the system without breaking it entirely? I have done some research and noticed requests for bluegrass and heavy metal, but was not able to find any sort of response regarding implementation, just notes saying "Good idea". Seems to be a trend around here. 2. Quest Ideas - A. I Am Legend - Using the Family backdrop, create a scenario where (based on previous player action or action to be determined) the Family is no longer in allegiance to the Player nor the town of Arefu. Blood packs have run completely dry, and they resort once again to consuming the blood of humans. Travel could take place at night, although their shred of human psychology and physiology could lead to the possibility of traversing during the daytime. Basically take the I Am Omega outline, combine it with the most recent adaptation of the novel I Am Legend, and blend it with the existence of the scenario in Fallout 3. Possible outcomes could include: The Family leaving Meresti, conquering Arefu, leaving the player to destroy them; The player using conversation to convince the Family to feed on Wasteland creatures. a. Again, these are only some random ideas. Any input would be greatly appreciated. 3. Mod Ideas - A. Wasteland 2377 - New settlements, possibly updated/cleaned up towns, added characters and tech, can function with mods that have vehicles? a. YES, I understand it is a LARGE undertaking. NO, I don't expect people to immediately jump on board. Again, mere ideas for which I would love to hear developmental feedback and how I could go about completing such tasks, arduous or otherwise. B. GTA: Capital Wasteland - I have read about Total Conversions. They are insane, although genuinely cool ideas. I would not like this to be a total conversion. Rather, a possible implementation of the vehicle mods to allow actions while travelling (on motor), compatible with recruitment of more than one follower, and possibly a mission designed around raids or protecting a certain caravan, things in that vein that are basically just side quests. Again, easier said than done, but something I believe would be cool to make as more than a concept. _______________________________ Please provide me with feedback, and if the negative is regarding "This would be too complex for this reason, and if you wanted to do this you would need (insert sarcastic line here)" than make it short and sweet. If you know any way of helping me get any assets completed or assisting me with writing a structure, I would love to make these projects into realities. I am trying to learn how to write scripts and concepts for games, and am looking more and more into that while I don't have access to the GECK, but in the meantime I do have some applicable skills to back up what am I preaching. Experience in modelling, texturing, physics, and animating (no MaxScript) with 3DStudio Max (NOT MAYA) - Two years. Experience in Adobe Photoshop (Only a slight amount in Illustrator) - Two years. Experience in Crazy Bump - Two years. Slight scripting knowledge in C++ engines (including a basic understanding of customizing motion and asset appearance). Worked shortly in Blender. Worked shortly in Werkkzeug. Worked extensively in FPS Creator. Worked in Torque. Worked with .dds files, .3ds files, exporting and importing files, models, scripts, and animations into engines, placing cameras and dummies, and implementing environmental elements. Worked with a team that developed a concept demo (video, no engine build) to be sold to Rockstar (unaware of project's status, and yes I know that sounds sketchy. Work was completed at the East Valley Institute of Technology in the 3d Animation department. Mesa, Arizona). Ability to draw logos, certain textures, and certain effects, not too much in the way of realism. Slight use of Unreal Engine 3, although I do not have much know-how of node based engines as of yet. Over 100 hours playtime of Fallout 3. WILLING TO WORK! Programs that I currently own: 3ds Max 2009 (Not functioning, at the moment) Adobe Creative Suite 3 ("") ZBrush 3 ("") Torque FPS Creator Unreal Engine 3/Unreal Editor Valve Hammer SDK XNA 3.0 Phrogram Fallout 3 - Steam Version (No DLC as of yet) _____________________________________ I know it's a lot, and I appreciate your time being used to read this.

Quest concept. (use it if you like)
Sti3ld3rby69 replied to lostami's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Ideas
So...essentially you would just want to knock them out, restore them to a normal level of behavior, and than...what? Insert dialogue option here? Seems like an extremely linear concept to add text lines to non-unique characters, no offense. Maybe think of something different to do with the vault. Again, not my choice, just voicing an opinion.
