I think I tried vortex way back when it was first announced and I was so hopelessly confused by the UI that I dropped it immediately and never touched it again. I can only hope some serious improvements have been made since then. I'm not currently playing any games that require an MO but by the time I am I imagine NMM probably won't support it so I'll be forced to learn Vortex. I guess the one thing that never made any sense to me is the reason for abandoning NMM and completely starting over with Vortex. This post, like many before it, mention a lack of confidence in NMM's software and it's stability. I suppose I can understand that except for the fact that over the course of several years of using NMM I can't really recall running into any serious issue that caused unsolvable problems. I suppose it's certainly possible that I was simply lucky and others out there were experiencing these problems I never ran into. I will say I'm really going to miss NMM's simplicity. It was very straight forward and easy to use while Vortex felt overly convoluted and messy. And before anyone wants to hammer out "YOU CAN STILL USE NMM" let's not be disingenuous here. We all know that Vortex is supposed to be the future of modding for the Nexus. Eventually, we will reach a point where NMM simply can't keep up. I think that fact is being heavily ignored by those who can't seem to fathom why some people would have preferred updates for NMM rather than a whole new unfamiliar MO. Either way, I do sincerely hope Vortex is a massive success because the Nexus is where I go for nearly all of my modding needs. Looking forward to a bright future for the modding community.

If they haven't responded by now I don't think you're going to get one sadly. Honestly with how dead these forums are I doubt they look at them all that much unless an outside force tells them to. I figure you've got two options. A: Create the mod, credit the creator of the 3D assets and worst case scenario he or the Nexus asks for it to be taken down. Or B: Don't create the mod. Up to you really. -

Damn that looks f***ing sick. If you do end up porting it I hope you contact an author like Niero or Deadpool who make some really gorgeous weapons/armors themselves to make sure you do it right. -
So, maybe it's just me, but one thing that I find a little bothersome is when I go to check my favorite mod categories for any new releases that I might be interested in, only to find the first page or two full of nothing but translations or worse, mostly translations with one or two actual mods sprinkled in. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that people are translating popular mods into other languages so more people can more easily enjoy them, that's obviously a wonderful thing. But for the sake of tidiness and easy browsing for all users, I think it would be very handy if we had a separate category in the mod categories list specifically for translations. Not only would this de-clutter all other mod categories a bit, but it would also make it easier for mod users to find translated mods as well. To me this seems like something rather simple to do, and would be a great quality of life change.

I'm looking for a place where there are a fair amount of people who like helping those of us who are new/inexperienced with modding and don't mind taking the time to answer our questions, which usually end up being incredibly simple. I've slowly been diving deeper into modding, using Fo4 Edit and such tools, but whenever I run into a snag I simply don't have the required knowledge to address, I find myself stuck as finding help is rather difficult. I've tried asking questions in the Nexus discord, the forums here, and various other places, but despite literal thousands of people being online, there's maybe 1 or 2 people who actually try to help, and they aren't always around. If there's a place out there with more active engagement, I'd love to find it.

Still hilarious to me how much smoother this could have gone if they just gave us a consolidated way to actually communicate as a community, rather than just a bunch of people shouting in the comments section. Strawpoll OP.

Honestly I've seen some posts about people wanting to start a vote up, and I have to wonder why there wasn't an official vote advertised to the public to begin with. The initial posts about this redesign talk about the use of "focus groups" with over 10 million using this site, it's literally impossible to capture every single person's opinion. But starting with something as simple as a "Yes or No" straw poll would take literally 10 seconds of work from Dark0ne and would show which way the community is already leaning. Either we're the loud minority and he has nothing to worry about, or we're not, and he has to move forward knowing the majority of people just don't want this redesign. Obviously not everyone is going to be happy no matter what happens but sheesh, if you're going to at least feign interest in public opinion with these "focus groups." Which likely don't include anyone who was just like, "Nah we don't need this." Then at least put forth a vote so the public can express it's opinion in a cohesive manner. It simply doesn't make any sense to go "Okay guys we're gonna do this thing now and no matter how many people complain about it I'm just gonna continue on regardless." That's simply not how you maintain a positive relationship with your userbase. Granted, all of this depends on Dark0ne actually giving s*** about maintaining said positive relationship. Which as we've seen with countless site admins over the years, they rarely do. At best, he's just hoping for the inevitable cycle of "they'll *censored* and moan at first but eventually get over it and shut up." Which will probably will happen. However if this is how you treat your userbase they will remember. And when the inevitable happens when someone comes along with a better, more accessible site that reminds people of what Nexus used to be, they'll remember how the site admin likes to treat the people who are responsible for his success. Nexus might be a household modding name now, but far greater and far more successful companies have fallen. Especially with how volatile the modding scene is right now, it just doesn't seem like a smart move to piss off your audience. But oh well.

I don't really pay attention to the news section because 9 times out of 10 it's stuff that I don't care about at all, so I likely missed that article, I'll go find it. As for suggestions for improving the new layout? Easy, switch it back to the old one. If it was so "broken.", then why did it still function perfectly fine for the entire userbase?

In response to post #55668576. The site admin has already basically said "f*** you." And made the new layout mandatory. People are standing around, scratching their heads and wondering, "Why the new layout anyways?" No one really knows why they decided to up and change. The saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Applies here perfectly. I can appreciate wanting to improve the looks of an older website, but sheesh. Needless to say, they went way overboard here and mucked the whole thing up. TL'DR: We aren't getting the old layout back, no matter how many people on the site complain about it.

Seems like there's a pretty strong consensus that the new site layout is bonkers. I appreciate the effort but honestly this feels like a classic example of "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

DAI Mod manager Perma-Broken. [NOT]

Welp. I found out what was wrong. If you use MSI Afterburner/Rivaturner. You must close these applications before you can run the Mod Manager. Don't ask me why, It just worked. -
So basically the tool is dead. No matter what I do, I cannot get the program to run. It worked for awhile, but today when I tried to get it to run to change up my mods it just refused to run. I've tried deleting the ini file, this did nothing. I have the newest .net frame, it's not that. It's not my virus protection software, and it's not any of the other typical problems. The file simply refuses to run. I've fully deleted it, re-downloaded it from BOTH The Tools Suite program AND from a direct link, neither worked. None of it works. What do I have to do to fix it?

I just added the blood texture mod a day or two ago and I was having the bug occur before I added the lamp mod. It's taken me this long to post about it because I only encounter an incendiary weapon every so often, so I kinda forget it's there until it happens again.

So what you're saying is that being blinded with flashing red and yellow textures is intentional? That would seem incredibly unbalanced.

So I've recently been having this issue whenever I get hit with anything fire, fiery weapons, molotovs, etc etc. Basically whenever my character is under the burning status, if I'm in 1st person my screen gets covered in flashing red and yellow textures. Entirely obscuring my view, and it doesn't go away until the burning status goes away or I switch to 3rd person. It's very frustrating and borderline game breaking in a fight. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing it? In terms of mods, I'm using several weapon and armor mods, some companion mods, small things like that. Nothing that alters anything to do with burning status/the fiery effect on weapons/ or anything like that.

Problem solved. The solution I found was simply restarting my computer. Very odd, but hey, it worked. So if you run into this problem, try that. -

Bumping this. I still haven't been able to find a solution for this. To reiterate, My game was working fine one night, but the following afternoon after I alt-tabbed a few times the frame dropped to 10 and below and doesn't really go above 15 when the game is running. Before this problem it would fluctuate between 45 and 60. So far I've attempted to restart the game, uninstall and reinstall the game as well validating my steam cache. According to Steam, two files were failed to validate, and it said that it would reacquire them (presumably when the game launched) This is the second time it's said this, does this mean two of my files are corrupted? If so, why isn't steam fixing the problem as it should? My completely uneducated guess is that somehow during the alt-tabbing something didn't quite click once I tabbed back into the game, resulting in this problem. But even if that were correct, I have no idea how to fix it. The game is literally unplayable at 15 FPS. Googling for answers hasn't brought up anything relating to persistent, long lasting FPS drops, only short term ones that fix themselves easily enough. I do not know how to fix this. :( -

Trust me, I have tried that multiple times. The frame rate is just borked no matter what I do. -
So, I recently started playing Fallout 4 on a desktop rig I'm borrowing from a friend. He's running a GTX 660 with 8GB Ram and a 2.9 ghz AMD processor. The game defaults to medium settings which I'm honestly fine with, and was running between 45-60 frames without many issues. I was totally fine with all of that. I'm currently using very few mods, some weapon and armor ones but nothing super stressful on the system. The biggest might be the Railroad HQ Player home done by Elianora, but I wasn't even able to make it there before I started encountering issues. After I got done playing the previous night, I saved and quit, turned off the computer, and went to bed. I woke up this afternoon, turned the computer on, and went to continue playing. Everything was working fine until I alt-tabbed a few times. I started noticing some HORRENDOUS fps drops, like all the way down to 10 and below. I alt tabbed again to see if that would refresh the game and fix the issue, which it did, for about five minutes. Now, no matter what I do (Validating game cache, deleting and reinstalling the game, use with 0 mods active, anything at all.) The game will simply not run above 15 FPS even on the lowest settings. It simply refuses to do so. And I have no f***ing clue what could of happened that is causing this issue. Please, if anyone out there has any idea what might be wrong, let me know. I am desperate to fix this issue. But it is simply beyond me. P.S. I even attempted to see if the game had for some reason switched to using the AMD built in graphics rather than the GTX 660 card, but to my knowledge it has not.
