  1. Lindy, I can't tell you what to do with your money... if nothing else it would give you reason to declare me a persona non grata for ensuring you the game would be so immersive, and so moddable, and so fun, that you'd actually turn your revulsion into anger and actually enjoy blowing the hated corpse-bags away in great gouts of blood and guts. But, as I said, I can't. I'm a die-hard RPer so I can understand your desire to try it; I mean, let's face it, the new and interesting RPGs are a small number and that's even allowing for the ones that claim they're RPG but are just RTS. *grumble* There is no way to avoid the mutants, so if you ARE that repulsed, please don't waste your money. And please, don't turn to a boring grind-fest game like Aion or step backwards to WoW. Now, one thing you MAY like is the possibility of using NO weapons, or two handed; bypassing the gun thing totally. Course, there will still be lots of lead flying at you, and shrapnel, and the occasional spew and giblets of dubious origin... but hey, this isn't a NICE game. Its an ugly world, with ugly bodily fluids and people who are out only for themselves... hell its even got misguided religious nutballs! I dunno if there's a demo, but you may want to check around? good luck
  2. I think just the fact you wish to do it is plenty owwsome meself, but I do like the idea of sandboxing it out of the way of mods that players have installed, in effect, don't mess up the game they're already playing but do allow them to enjoy what you work hard on... so definitely making it something that needs some sort of entry point just like the DLCs and such. As far as realism, I understand what you are looking for and respect it highly. But, if you DO wish to share it and receive some positive feedback you may not want to make it 'totally' realistic. ImHo you do want a balance between the values you are trying to import along with keeping the gameplay "fun" to a point. Now, if what you wish to achieve IS a totally hardcore situation, then pls, by all means go for it! And the heck with worrying how pissy people could get ! As far as people ragging on you for things they don't agree with, well, firstly don't take it personal. If its presented with lots of flame and disdain just take a deep breath and realize they probably don't say ANYTHING pleasant at any time, even with the computer off ROFLMAO! Some people are just trolls and will always be. If its just someone pointing out things they consider flawed or something that could be improved well, that's a different can o' da worm and should be considered. There, my little rant is finished and now I can get back to trying to do something. Good luck !
  3. Wow. Alton. I lived there a few years, a long time ago when just a kid. I remember this little comic shop, a mom and pop, that was all wood and had this wonderful wood and comic smell... just a nice memory. We didn't have a TV so I would walk downtown to the Sears and watch Batman and Green Hornet on the display TVs while eating Cashews... till my mother came in and yanked me out by my ear. ROFLMAO! Anything I can do to help, just ask but I'm pretty new to modding except building.
  4. It can sometimes, when you're picky, *grin* be a bit frustrating not to see exactly what you want... but, that's why the mod tools are there and the people here have put time into providing links, tutorials, and answered posts. IE: hey, you want it and don't see it?! Make it. Now, I'm an old NWN 1 modder/player/dm from the old social servers, and can attest to some puzzlement but... whatever you wanna make I believe we have to give support and understand that each person has their own "needs" that push them to allotting such large amounts of time to mods. Which is why I"m so "happily" trying to teach myself modding, modelling, and texturing... so I can get the armor I WANT to use, on my little stinky girl ingame :)
