  1. People always whine about change no matter how small so that's not particularly important, however 1) mods fail to download 2) pages don't seem to load properly.
  2. Hopefully there'll be an option (or a mod) to separate the survival aspect from the difficulty aspect, Hard hits a sweet spot for me and I have very little interest in slogging through anything higher.
  3. Ah. Well that's actually pretty reasonable. Still, some of the hair pulling going on in this thread, from BOTH parties seems disproportionately brutal. Especially considering that it's misplaced. The companies knew the vitriol and bile this would stir up and they decided to do it anyway, it was a dick move on their part. They can move on with no real damage done. Will the Nexus ever really be the same?
  4. Question for modders who supported the paid modding: Why don't you sell your mod on your own?
  5. Reading through this thread I'm feeling somewhat nauseated. Want your mods to be free? Cool. Want your mods to be paid for? Also cool, your perogative. Complaining that the companies that would legitimize this desire by introducing a system where it was 'mandatory' are pulling out so your desire for money is no longer justified and so you can't stand by it anymore? Ew. Just ew. It was okay to ask for money when people would have been 'forced' by huge companies at your back to comply? So you could shrug and go 'well I didn't want this, it's just the way it is, is benefitting from the actions of forces greater than us really so bad?' Nah man, that's pretty twisted. Either you think your mod is worth money, in which case there are ways you can implement this on your own, or you don't in which case this news is either good or neutral. But this? Icky man, icky.
  6. Huzzah! High fives for everyone! Pocahontas won! And, of course, for everyone weeping bitter tears that they won't be able to profit anymore. Why not? Charge for your mod. A similar argument that went for 'well you don't have to pay' goes for you now. You don't have to give it away for free. The framework is gone that would have made it more acceptable/understandable but if you think your mod is worth money, sell it. Stand for what you believe in and etc.
  7. Dick move feels like an understatement. But yes, they could do it and weather the outrage relatively unscathed too. Apparently only 14% of Skyrim sales were on PC to begin with so despite how cosmically important the modding feels to we here on the Nexus it evidently can't be THAT important. They could very easily decide the potential profits outweigh the righteous ire they'd be inviting. But it would work, it appeals to self interest of modders while also undercutting actual reasonable choice. So snekky. BUT! HEAR THIS BETHESDA! You will make this young person lose 5 Faith-In-Humanity points if you do this! Consider that carefully before you let corporate greed turn you totally evil. Youthful idealism > greed.
  8. ~shrug~ Seems reasonable really. Yes it's dirty, dirty capitalism but it's capitalism at it's okayest. Everyone benefits. The Nexus gets money, the Nexus continues to keep mods in the spotlight which in turn will benefit Steam and etc. It'd be naive to ignore the fact that all this is setting up the infrastructure for assimilating modding into corporatism though. Imagine if the next toolkit Bethesda releases comes with a monthly subscription fee? Woosh. I can hear the lamentation already.
  9. Is it true that the Nexus is getting 5% of the money from these mod sales? Cuz if it is you might want to mention it (assuming you haven't already). It gives off serious oily politician vibes otherwise.
