Here in New York, our crappy Lietenant Governor who became Governor after the Spitzer scandal, tried to impose a tax on energy drinks, sodas, and basically anything that made people fat, all in the name of trying to come up with a way to balance NY's horribly backward budget. It didn't even make it to the State Congress. Phail. Good thing too, because I like me the occasional Monster, and Coca Cola and Pepsi are big American industries...honestly one of the few that haven't been outsourced to China or Mexico or India.
On that note, Ford, the only stable automaker in the US, continues to push the size of their big pickemup trucks, which hurts the economy in two ways: oil isn't getting any cheaper, and most of the trucks don't get past 20mpg, and the fact that they aren't making them any cheaper, so people either buy them and get a drivethru colonoscopy on the payments, or, they buy imported cars like Honda or Hyundai or Kia or Suzuki or whatever. Toyota, if you haven't heard, is ruined in the eyes of Americans because of the massive gas pedal and brake recall.
So it goes.

@LHammonds:
Yes. Exactly. There are thick people all over the world, even in highly developed nations. But America has the biggest ego in the world, in the world's eyes, and so the rest of the world has no trouble being a little scornful of Americans, especially since American media is (to the best of my knowledge) the largest media base in the world, and the rest of the world sees a lot of what goes on in America. Compared to their own country's problems or drama, America's often seem silly and over-dramatized, while their own problems may be serious and detrimental to the well-being of the entire nation.
@Balgor:
Oh, and that doctor who is accused of giving MJ a lethal dose of painkillers... 1: People don't like him because they think he killed the King of Pop, even if he was just 'doing his job'. 2: He is guilty, if in fact, he gave him the lethal dose of painkillers. Doctors swear by an oath when they recieve their liscense that they will put well-being of their patients before anything else, even if the patient doesn't want it. By giving MJ a dose of painkillers that he knew could be fatal, even if Michael asked for it, the doctor is still guilty, because the doctor could've refused to give it to him out of concern for his own safety. But instead he was more concerned about how many thousands of dollars MJ was paying him to be his private doctor, and not about the well-being of his patient, thus violating the oath and being guilty of murder, or at the very least, some degree of manslaughter.

I doubt that americans could get their indipendence without french army.
Why don't you ask the French if they'd like to be responsible for the independence of America? Based on what I've read in this thread, doesn't sound like it'd be hard descision. We have the Statue of Liberty to remind us of the French. And that's about it.
-
as a foreigner, I put several reasons why peoples don't like americans
the french helped americans in creating their country, americans call them "coward" in return after wwii, the chinese paid enormous sacrifice standing aside americans to fight against Japanese empire and afterwards being treated like dog ...
so on and so forth
You forget the aid given to Europe after WW2, known as the Marshall Aid,
and many EU contries have black spots in their history too
This, and the fact that almost 200 years passed between the Revolutionary War and WWII; the US can't be indebted to France for THAT long... and besides, the French were the indimidation factor, not the dirt and grit and blood part. That was us. Once Mr. Franklin was able to persuade the French for aid, Britain pretty much said "Aw crap...." and gave up. But the French would never have helped us if they didn't think we could win, and wouldn't until we turned the tide against the British, which, we did. But America and Britain are good buddies now...lol.

Here we learn Global History since 5th grade. We start with the historical periods, from stone age to 21st century. So most people have a basic knowledge. :)
Yeah, I remember learning real history starting in like 6th grade. Before that it was silly stuff like why we have Thanksgiving and Independence Day, and so on. But I didn't know about the scalping Native Americans then, or the overhunting of the Bufffalo, or the structure of an Indian village, or the only reported case of human cannibalism. Ahh, 6th grade was fun. Then in 7th we studied Colonial America, the Patriots and the Tories, Boston Tea Party, stamp tax, etc.
I have met a few Americans in my life, and found them nice, friendly and good friends.Reading this thread makes me think about American filmproducers.
American filmproducers carry a big responsabillity for the wiev people outside US will generate.
Let me start to say that I am aware that Superman does not exists, and there is no such things
as Spiderman either.
But still, you can read a lot about a countrys culture in a movie/film
1. People are always mocking eachother, fighting to be number one. In school/job, what ever.
This is not so outspoken in Danish culture. We help eachother.
2. The enviroment of a film is in 98 % of the case a wealthy enviroment. That despite most of
the population is middle class.
3. Clich films. Either the producers use the same manuscript, or they have a very low use of
their fantasy. Nearly always the film starts with a coulpe, Doctor and Professor, they a newly devorced,
despite family life is dear to America. A murder happens, the husbond tries to frame a burgler,
or vice-verca.
The crime can not be solved, but out of nowhere comes a drunken, messy Columbo-like cup, just
released from AA. He has been drinking hes brains out for ten years, because he shot a partner,
and he just sees all the missing clues.
After a quarrel with hes former boss, (and the devorced couple gets remarried) the film ends with the sound of
1000 angels singing.
I know I can just hit the red button on my remote, but please, producers, pull yourselves together.
This can not be America.
Not all American movies are like that. Last night I watched "Amelia", the story of Amelia Earheart, the American woman who almost circumnavigated the Earth in a plane. It's set in the 20-30s I think, and you could visually see the difference of the standard of women then compared to today. Amelia was the only woman in the movie to have short-cropped hair, and....get this...wear pants. There was also no woman who wore a bra either. Very good film, not cliché at all in my opinion.
My two cents. =P

Well, as far as American ignorance, all I can say is that, while I may be able to identify Romania, Bangledesh, Norway, Papa New Guinea, whatever... on a world map, I cannot say the same for my 10th grade classmates. And we're supposed to be in the second year of Global History and Geography at that point, the zenith of global understanding! What's worse is that most of them will forget it once they're in 11th grade and only have to worry about American History (what little there is of it!) for the next two years. My Global teacher can't even write well, much less spell, and he expects to teach anybody anything? Lucky for him that I already have a general understanding of most of the things we're to learn before he even teaches them.
Industrial Revolution? England. Sooty factories, got it. Colonization? Jamaca is Britain's, Haiti is France's, and Africa is summary assimilated into European empires. Russian Communism? LENIN & the Bolsheviks, THEN Stalin. Chinese unrest n stuff...Mao Zedong and the Long March. Ghandi and the Salt March in India. Hirohito in Japan.
Not all Americans are idiots. =]

The meaning of life is life. Everything that has ever lived is engineered for survival. It is the first and foremost instinct. I think since we as humans (being sentient beings with the abilities of thought, emotion, a sense of creativity, morality, and beauty) more times than not do not have to worry about survival too much, we think of other things we need, and strive to achieve those needs. Maslow's heirarchy of needs explains what we desire as humans fairly well. The higher one can climb up the pyramid, the more "fulfilled" in life a person is thought to be.
Another aspect to the meaning of life is change. Change is inevitable, and the less you resist it and the more you accept it the better off you will be.
Then again, "the meaning of life" is only as meaningful as what people want to say about it.

Ps3 has equivilent if not better graphics than 360, and most games are on both systems. 360 crashes, (alot) while I've heard only of Ps3 crashes during the first few months after it was released, and it's been out a while now (They hardly sell ps2 games anymore). Plus, some of us were just raised on Playstation. Aside from just games Ps3 does just about everything else too, except of course soup.

There are several mods to fix this. Some that come to mind are the HGEC mod, where you chose to either remove completely, or greatly enhance the vanilla underwear, or some of Colourwheel's stuff. I use HGEG.
-
Heh, I wouldn't know what that is. I know it's dark elf though.
Also, another thought. WHY ELSE would you think they built the arboretum????

I think there is
and darkprodigy4u... all i can say is wow ><. but no aging, right?
I actually think you age a little bit, yourself that is. If you bring up the showracemenu thing after a year has past, (or less, for that matter) then it will show your "age" slider a little more to the right than when you started the game. Of course vampirisim will greatly increase the rate at which you age while infected (unless you disable vampire aging with a mod). Keep in mind that a normal character will, for all intents and purposes, still look the same as when they were created. The changes are very subtle.
Yeah. it was frostfall 434 when i stopped playing that character.
"....no children just as there are no bathrooms"..
Of course there were bathrooms. They were very......environmentally friendly. So environmentally friendly, that these recepticles actually THRIVE off the excreted waste, and, in combination with sunlight, use chloroplasts to create glucose, with which these dainty little (or big) creations use to grow, and in some cases, even supply us with food, with which, after it has passed through the digestive system, may be redistributed upon these wonderous creations to start the process all over again.
Yes, I'm talking about trees.

i don't know what to say about your stamina problem. if you have the Unofficial Oblivion Patch installed, you can open up the console and enter to following:
~
startquest uop
a menu should pop up. one of the options is a "Fix broken/stuck stats" perhaps you should try that.
As for the merchant, i know of one that's in the game, and has something like 60,000 gold and a novice in mercantile:
~
player.coc hawkhaven
*loading screen*
you should be standing outside the testing hall. look to your left and you should see a smith that has blue hair. he does everything, including repairing, recharging, armorer training, sells spells, barters, etc. To leave this place, fast travel to any location.

If my voice acting is anything to go by..... there was this one time I was recording the big martin speech, and my voice cracked at the empire bit (i'm 14), so I ended up with "it's time to restore the EMpire's glory! I wish I had recorded it and saved it, you guys would have died laughing.
oh man, that would be something. How well can you imitate Martin's deep voice with a slight british accent?
-
Well, if it's the Imperial Dragon Armor that's the problem, there are several mods that enhance the armor's statistics to more in the neighborhood of daedric.
Also, I know that once the Empire's (note the apostrophe, i'm pretty sure there isn't more than 1 empire of Tamriel) Glory mod is out, that it will tie up most of the loose ends at the end of the game, like, questing for the shattered amulet of kings, an even bigger threat to tamriel, and a split storyline where either you or martin can become the emperor.
