  1. You know the old (and first, if I do believe,) game in the Elder Scrolls Series? REDGAURD? We'll, all I know is that it involved this redgaurd, Cyrus, and the setting is the island of Stros M'kai or something like that, and you play as him. Well, I don't know if this has been found before, but I found a little easter egg when chatting to the blades at cloud ruler temple. You'll find that eventually you'll run into a blade named Cyrus, and he happens to be a redgaurd.

    ;D

I just thought you should know...

  2. There is the eternal debate about catharsis. There are two main schools of thought.

    (1) Video games make you act more and more like your character. You practice violence so much that it starts to seem like the normal way to solve problems. In real life you may find yourself wanting to physically harm those who aren't doing everything just the way you like it.

    (2) Video games provide catharsis. You can purge your soul. You can blow off steam. You can act out your darkest, most violent fantasies. Because you have acted them out this way, you won't ever actually do those things in real life and end up on Death Row.

I am not sure what to think. I suspect it is somewhere in the middle, and that video games make some people more evil in real life, just as they make some people more righteous.

May I offer a third option???

    (3) Video games are a form or electronic entertainment, akin to movies, television, your ipod, ect. You don't see people shooting up schools because they watched a violent movie...(which, you have NO control over, and is oftentimes MORE realistic than your most visually intense RPG,) or because they heard a violent song or, even more rarely, because someone on tv told them to.

I'm more likely to do something I shouldn't if my game DOESN'T work properly, like lag or slowdowns or CTDs. But if it's running smooth, (which would make me happy to begin with), I'm usually calm as a tree while my character is murdering people in their sleep. And I usually don't go around murdering peoplein their sleep. In life, or in Oblivion.

  3. I believe if you get it from the lady who suggested you tomb rob Lindai's tomb. If you just go there directly after speaking to Umbacano, without first speaking to the lady who has Nenalata's crown, then you won't have the key needed to access the area that has the crown of Lindai.

Just as a possible spoiler/helper... you should take the crown of nenalata from her instead of getting the Lindai crown. The uh...fight you'll have to go through will be easier, but the reward will be crap compared to the reward you get for giving Umbacano the wrong crown.

Also, after the quest is over, you still get to hang onto the key you're looking for, and can go back to Lindai's tomb and get the crown if you so desire. Also, it won't be *SPOILER* broken. And you get to keep both crowns. They make great display pieces :P

  4. Wow found video on internet search. probably have it on you tube. wow. That hits me hard mostly because i am a southern baptist christian. They give me, my friends, and my family a bad name. I really hope that is a joke site. If it is not, God have mercy on thier souls, because they are going to need it. (Oblivion take them!)

my my....i watched a video of the creator/founder of the website...

and i have to say..with great dismay...

    WHAT A DOUCHE.

  5. So being a christian is the biggest sin one can commit to the people around him or her, because nothing is more annoying.

The rest of your post I can agree with, simply because the people on that site are nothing more than hateful and ignorant twisted people whose weapon happens to be christianity.

People like that give christianity a bad name.

This being said, I don't think it's at all fair for you to say being a christian at all is an annoyance to others, a sin even.

Just considering the logic of your statement falls back poorly on you. "Sin" is a concept of wrong, primarily associated with christianity. If you come from the point of view as an athiest, then "Sin" is moot because you dont believe in it to begin with.

You can't name a flock a black flock because it has one black sheep. It is true that a group is only as strong as its weakest member. But this is only half the truth. By the same logic, a group is only as weak as its strongest member. Yes, there are a lot of bad and downright horrible things done by christians in the name of God, but there's also a lot of good that's come out of it.

As for me...I seriously believe religion should be a personal matter and not a public one. I honestly think churches were the worst thing to ever happen to christianity. If you wear your beliefs on your sleeve, then people will come after you for them. But as the saying goes, "out of sight, out of mind". Personal beliefs are people's own business.

I'm surprised that this thread is still going. In the "debates" section, there's a ban on religious debates, so I don't see why they can't make that policy universal. And they were banned for the simple reason that religion is too touchy of a topic to even begin to debate about, and almost always ends in flame wars, and overall isn't doing anyone good.

    I've said my piece.

Oh, and It's a parody site.

  6. If it happens every 20 mins or so, then as others suggested it might be an overheating or psu problem. Does your computer's fan sound like it's gonna launch into orbit? Then you definately need to take it apart and give it a good cleaning. A can of compressed air...(or even a pnuematic airbrush, lol) and a screwdriver and you'll be cool in no time. If it's a power supply problem, in this case it would seem it's not getting enough power. Well, I'm pretty sure if you clean it out, that will make your fan turn on less often. Also try disabling any background tasks that can steal precious RAM. Use windows task manager for that.

On a side note....30-20 fps isn't necessarily bad at all in my opinion. My computer has far lower stats that yours, and I get anywheres from 5-15 fps and I'm happy, running bloom and all distant LOD packages.

  7. I was saving Kvatch and decided to enlist legion help...

So we're taking the castle..no prob right? Not when you have 5 archers....

Kvatch archer shoots legion guard in way of scamp. They fight. Legionary wins.

    SOMEONE"S BEEN MURDERED!!!

Everybody fights said Legionary. Legionary dies. Kvatch soldier dealt last blow.

    SOMEONE"S BEEN MURDERED!!!

    Another Legionary Kills Kvatch soldier.

    The bloodshed has ceased...

"Now that THAT's outta the way..."

  8. Followers that intend to help you but never fail to get in your way and die. And then you get a lovely 1000 bounty and an infamy point, and you're whisked away as soon as you hear that four letter word. "STOP!!!!!!" Your spree is at an end...muahahahahahaha" That reminds me of seeing blue and red in your mirror, or hearing that infamous "WOOOOooooooooooooo" of the single siren beep. :verymad:
  9. I just started reading The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare. It's three books right now, and I'm about halfway through the first one, City of Bones

I was also required to read 2 books for summer reading, namely Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynne Truss, and The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. The latter is only about...60-80 pages long (idk, i read it online) but took me a good 2 weeks to get through. You can only read so much 19th century biblical-sounding stuff before your mind turns to mush.

Then again, since I picked up Oblivion, I haven't really been reading much except for the mod descriptions and forum threads. :P

  10. I remember when I was barely able to walk to school (2 blocks away in a fairly populated city) that I was playing The Legend Of Zelda:A Link to the Past. That was my first favorite video game, and it was on the Super Nindendo, so...even though that's only 11 years ago, seeing as technology advances like alge in a pool, I would still consider that game as a pretty old game. I could reminisce forever about my experience with that game. I remember when your father dies and you get his sword. I remember the boomarangs, the flutey thing, all the neat little tools you can use. I remember climbing the big pyramid and fighting that big bull like thing that always said "En Gaurde.." ahhh...the memories. I think I even played this when I broke my collarbone and had my arm in a sling! haha...those were the good days.
  11. First they're giving off Arena, then Daggerfall. So kind people   .

Hopefully we get Morrowind next :P

Morrowind was recently released in my coutry in DVD format with all expansions to be sold in a popular (need the word here for a periodic issue media we call 'revista') media.

If you're from a country that speaks spanish, then revista translates to magazine in english I think, but i don't think you can sell Morrowind in a magazine. :P

  12. If disabling some mods fixed the crashing problem, then it was most likely a mod conflict. You should go through and find out which two mods don't play together and decide which one to keep, to prevent you from accidentally switching on that mod and having the same crashing problem again.

Your saved games are located in :C/users/(my)documents/my_games/oblivion/saved_games.

I haven't ever backed up my saves by accessing that folder, but i would assume you would copy them to an external folder outside the mygames/oblivion folder. This way, if a mod does something to a save game that you don't want...you simply go into your documents/mygames/oblivion/savedgames and delete all the ESS files. the other autosave file is the one that WRITES autosaves. So don't delete that. Then replace the deleted saves with the ones you backed up and you're golden.

  13. It's just a game!

Honestly, I just play it to unwind (which can have the opposite effect if my mods clash or make the game crash). Unmodded, this should be oh for kids too. People who pick out certain parts of this and go "someone think of the children" like that lady from the Simpsons, probably watch worse on tv. Computer games always get a disproportionatly harder attack over how they corrupt the young ones. Easy, don't get it for your kids.

People have 2 things, freewill and common sense. In other words, people will decide for thenselves if something is good or bad for them, the exception being kids who don't know any better. Heh I know I would not let kids play mine, not with it being HGEC modded.

If you have problems with the game, don't play it. Easy.

That's pretty much the size of it. It all comes down to whether you think it's good or bad for them to play it. If they think it's good, and they have no problem with it, then good for them. If they think it's bad and they have a problem with it, that's fine too. And if they think it's bad but don't care and play it anyways, good for them. Single player role-playing is always a personal choice. If you enjoy it and it doesn't get in other people's way, then I don't see what's wrong with it.

  14. Okay, so I got done with the Revouninstaller, and even though I'm 99% sure I did it right, when I load it up, I STILL SEE MY SAVES! And whats worse, even though it says my saves are in :c./username>....games>savedgames I can't seem to find that folder. There's a "Saved Games folder in my documents, but thats for microsoft games, the little games like polar bowler or something that game with the computer. Maybe it's because I'm using vista, and the folder isn't called that. I have no clue.

Aside from all that, running just oblivion goty with shivering isles/kotn installed (both disks), I loaded up my save where I'm pre-vampire, I sleep, I have the default pale vampire eyes, but my skin turned from white to tan. Perhaps I should install the Unofficial Oblivion patch and try again?

  15. How about using "modpcs skill # " instead of adv skill, where "Skill" is the name of the skill w.o spaces. I use that when I don't wanna save the world in iron armor, lol, and I haven't experienced the bug you're talking about, so try using that instead. It does the same thing, just remember that you're adding to the skill, not setting it to the level. Also, if you want to still retain your attribute bonuses when leveling up, only modpcs a little bit at a time when increasing your major skills, otherwise you won't get any bonus when you get to the levelup screen. obviously if you're increasing your minor skills, you won't have to worry about this...
  16. Yeah, I looked at the pinned "Reinstalling Oblivion Post":

    http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.ph...p;#entry8103714

I followed the steps to to uninstall (completely, i would've thought) Oblivion by going into my registry and uninstalling it there. I would've thought that by deleting the "Data" and "Bethesda Softworks" folder that it would get rid of everything.

I go through the reinstalling process, and everything I had from before was still there, including all my mods! So, I went into OBMM and deleted every mod except Knights.esp and Shivering Isles, then I spent close to an hour on TES Nexus redownloading all the mods I had, (excluding the retex one, of course). I load up oblivion, and i'm dismayed to find not only my saves still there, but the vampire eye/face retex! does this mean i have to go through and uninstall/delete everything AGAIN???

  17. Okay, so, I downloaded a mod that overwrites a texture, and I decide I'm not happy with it. I know one way to get all the default textures back! Re-install! In fact, I did this yesterday, and everything was fine. Now, I download the mod that overwrites the texture, and a couple other mods I ended up deleting, and somehow in all of that, the program used to unistall oblivion got deleted. So, when I try to click "uninstall" on the Oblivion Launcher menu, it gives me this:

"The Oblivion Launcher could not find the uninstall program. Run the setup.exe on the Oblivion install disk to uninstall."

Which, is really funny, because..ha ha...the disk used to install the game is also the one that is used to play the game. So, I popped it out, popped it back in, got the launcher menu again.

Went into control panel and Programs and Features (Using vista) to try to manually install it there. I click uninstall, the little box pops up, "This program requires administrator priveliges, blah blah, *click yes*" ...wait a few seconds, nothing happens. Try three more times, still nothing.

So, I go to program files>Bethesda Softworks>Oblivion> Uninstall Oblivion.

I click on that, it says "The item 'setup.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?"

    *click no*

So, I'm getting that sinking feeling that I've permanantly screwed up Oblivion and now my vampires will all have really tan skin with dark red eyes. :wallbash:

Any ideas how to fix this??

  18. Hm, my favorite thing to fight with melee has to be Imperial Legionaries, or Dremora.

Absolutely hate anything that casts spells and runs away from you. (Mages, Necromancers, ect.) If you're gonna whip out that dagger or mace, why not actually use it? I love how they pull it out and then charge you, hit you once or maybe even just block, and then run away faster than you can say witseideutsei. And they're faster, becuase you're running around in your clunky heavy armor, and they're in a fancy excuse for linens!
