Hmm... A script effect silencer. But wouldn't that interfere with some of the other mods in my load order, such as Adonnay's Weapon mods? EDIT: Nevermind, I understand how it works now by viewing the readme (fancy that.) After applying it at the very end of my load order so it is the last to boot and playing through the game again, I found that nothing has changed. There is still music at the Waterfront District and there is still that incantation being recited every so often during play. Regardless, I will keep it in my load order as it fixes the "twitching" corpses I sometimes get when slaying NPCs with one of Adonnay's scripted weapons. Pertaining to the current issue at hand, I had no idea that a script silencer could be used to alleviate script problems in a quest mod. I will keep this in mind for any future problems I might encounter when running quests. @Deadliest Shade Try this out and see if this fixes your problem. Pay attention to the what the readme says, as there are two .eps available for use.

This is just a suggestion for modders to ponder over. If anyone reading this post has used Adonnay's Classical and Elven Weapons mods, this post would sort of fall into that category. The majority the weapon mods in my game are swords, with a modest mace or axe thrown in between. While this is very nice, a few blunt weapon only mods would be nice to see as well, specifically ones that could use script effects. I know of a few excellent mods that add blunt weapons (Pale_riders Armories, some of the Realswords modules by Waalx, Loths Blunt Weapons, to name but a few,) but I have yet to encounter one that uses any type of set script such as the critical hit scripts that Adonnay used, or his swap weapon script. A collection of hammers, axes, and maces with script effects would be a nice change... Because sometimes it is far more satisfying to crush a skull in rather than severing it from its host. It would also be nice to see more Blunt weapon mods in general that could, perhaps, compete with some of the great sword mods out there. Perhaps something based off of WoW, Warhammer, Conan, and Medieval or ancient times. There is a lot of source material, be it historical or fantasy based, that one can build upon. An ultimate blunt weapons pack, or a collection of mods that add some incredible axes, maces or hammers in terms of beauty and function. This is just a suggestion to contemplate over, though. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on the subject of scripted blunt weapons, or just blunt weapons in general, go ahead and post them.

SETI's Lich King Glowing Eyes is crashing my game
Sealwarrior replied to MasterDRD's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Some good news and bad news. Good news first: The helm does work without the use of SETI's Quest Mod, but in order to find the right file, you have to download the helm from a different link: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20248. You already have that down for the readme, but in the downloads section there is a link for "New Lich King's Helm with Glowing Eyes." Download that and install the mod, then apply the new helm meshes. Voila. Now the bad news. This file contains a seperate .esp that can mess up Jojo's .esp in order to obtain the new helm. It messes with it by overwriting Jojo's work, so that you only get the helm. In order to get the full set of the Lich King, you must also use SETI's "Way to Frostmourne" or "Death Knight Spells v1.3" to complement the helm. For the past two hours I have been trying to find a way around this without downloading SETI's mod, but I have been unsuccessful. You could try it out yourself, if you want, to see if you can find a workaround. You could also try to post a comment on SETI's mods' page on TESNexus to see if someone else has a fix for this. SETI is no longer around, as far as I know, but it is still worth a shot. Sorry I could not do anything more for you. As for the Death Knight Armor request, I have some welcome news there. Jojo has created 2 other armor mods in addition to the Lich King armor. One of them is the armor of a Dread Knight, as well as some weapons to go with it: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24850. It may not be the actual armor of a death knight, but it still looks intimidating nonetheless and would be a perfect complement for the LK armor should you choose to add a companion or two. If you choose to download it, please endorse it as it is a fantastic work of art. -
Arg... I know what this is like. A few months ago, I had the same problem. Hmm.... I see you have neither the Unofficial Patches for Oblivion or SI.... You could try installing them, though I am unsure if they will actually do anything. They resolve a multitude of issues for both, so it is well worth the download. Since you are using Wrye Bash, I can assume that it is neither a bloating problem and/or an A-bomb problem, but you might want to reset the A-bomb counter and remove the bloat from your save games. If none of those work, you will have to do what I did..... That is, make a copy of your savegames folder (as a backup) and disable all of your mods. If it should work fine after that, then you now know it is a mod conflict. Save a seperate file post mod removal and then start loading each mod one at a time (it's a pain, I know :wallbash: ) before the time of the conflict and see if you can still play. The trick is that it may not be just one mod.... I found that out the hard way. So...: Try installing the Unofficial Patches for Oblivion and SI Try removing A-bomb and/or Save Game Bloat Do the annoying procedure I described (sorry in advance if it comes to that) I can feel your pain, as I was there not too long ago. I however, ended up doing the annoying trail and error method. It was excrutiatingly slow, but it worked. I am sorry that I cannot provide any exact mod conflict (or conflicts). There are actual conflict detectors you can use (the one for OBMM is an example,) but I am not well versed in how they work.

Hmm, I am not sure I am qualified, but I can try and help. In the readme, the installation instructions for steam are as follows: "Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory." I am not sure if this was what you did, but you only need these three put into the Oblivion directory itself, not any of the sub-folders. The other obse_loader you can ignore and/or discard. Also, you may want to download the OBSE 18 beta, as that is the most current version of the tool. This version has some more features that will help when adding some of the newer mods out there. I hope this helps. By the way, are you using Wrye Bash?

I am not sure if I am authorized or qualified to answer any question here, but I wish to make a suggestion. I cannot help you on the first question, but I can help you compromise on the second one. There is a mod called Intoxicant Improvement v2 (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5297) that changes the look of all the spirits and potions in the game, with textures courtesy of Ceano, Doofdilla, Laurinque, and Mark Quinn. In addition to that, you now have the ability to become inebriated after consuming an alcoholic beverage, so much so that you can pass out drunk for a few hours in game. To top it all off, you can brew your own spirits (Both features are taken from an original mod by Lap.) As for skooma and other drugs in Oblivion, I am afraid I cannot help you there. II v2 does add new textures for the Skooma bottles, courtesy of Haydox, but that is it. All in all, a very nice mod for visual effects, but just for visual effects.

Now here is an interesting dilemma.... I currently have downloaded TOTF, RTT, and Malevolent. The problem stems from the latter two mods. In regards to RTT, after I have completed the questline by killing everything in the Shadowscale Stronghold, I can no longer go to the IC Waterfront District without hearing the theme for the Shadowscales. It may be catchy, but the novelty wears offf quite quickly. As for Malevolent, I have also completed that quest just yesterday, but for some reason a sound effect keeps playing randomly afterwards when I am just roaming around and questing. I am not sure how to describe it other that "that weird dude's voice casting a spell." This same sound effect was used in RTT when Gloom recites the incantation to reclaim Ruin's soul from the Abyss. Again it is a cool, creepy mystical sound, but the novelty wears quite thin when I try to snipe a necromancer only to miss because I jumped at that guy's voice. I am not sure why this is happening (the bug, not the missed shot.) My load order is as follows: Active Mod Files: 00 Oblivion.esm 01 underdark.esm 02 All Natural Base.esm [Version 0.9.8] 03 Enhanced Daedric Invasion.esm 04 TamrielTravellers.esm [Version 1.39c] 05 CM Partners.esm 06 Bab.esm [Version FINAL] 07 ShieldOnBack.esm 08 TRoN.esp ** TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp 09 vampirescriptfix.esp 0A Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp [Version 3.2.0] 0B DLCShiveringIsles.esp 0C Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp [Version 1.4.0] 0D All Natural - Real Lights.esp [Version 0.9.9] 0E All Natural.esp [Version 0.9.7] ++ All Natural - EW + AWS.esp [Version 0.9.6] 0F Enhanced Water v2.0 HD.esp ++ Symphony of Violence.esp 10 AmbientTownSounds.esp 11 MIS Low Wind.esp 12 MIS New Sounds Optional Part.esp 13 Atmospheric Oblivion.esp 14 Rainbows.esp 15 WindowLightingSystem.esp 16 Book Jackets Oblivion.esp 17 ChaseCameraMod.esp 18 VanityCameraSmoother.esp 19 ClocksOfCyrodiil.esp ++ CM_Better Wine.esp ++ Cyrodilic Brandy.esp 1A Inebriation.esp 1B P1DmenuEscape.esp 1C Oblivion Cats v0.22b.esp 1D Reznod_Mannequin.esp 1E C&C - The Blackwood Company.esp 1F Improved Hotkeys.esp [Version 1.1] ++ Bab.esp [Version RC1] ++ MaleBodyReplacerV4.esp 20 1SBVampireOutfits.esp 21 Adonnays Classical Weaponry.esp 22 Adonnays Elven Weaponry.esp 23 Armory of the Silver Dragon.esp 24 DarkIllusionArmor.esp 25 Dread Knight Armor.esp ++ FineWeapons.esp 26 JG Elven.esp 27 Lich King's Helm v1_0.esp 28 Morrigan Armor Set v1_0.esp 29 Morrigan Swords Axes and Shield by Jojjo v1_1.esp 2A New Frostmourne Sword by Jojjo v1_0.esp ++ RustyItems.esp 2B Shields Of Antiquity.esp 2C SK_Berserk_v0.6.esp 2D Silverlight Armor by Jojjo.esp 2E Tyrael Armor.esp 2F VA_HonamiDaito.esp 30 VA_UniqueKatana1.esp 31 Warglaives by Jojjo v1.0.esp 32 RealSwords - Argonian LO-NPC.esp 33 RealSwords - Bosmer LO-NPC.esp 34 RealSwords - Breton LO-NPC.esp 35 RealSwords - Khajiit LO-NPC v1.3.esp 36 RealSwords - Nord LO-NPC SI.esp 37 RealSwords - Orc LO-NPC v1.0.esp 38 RealSwords - Redguard LO-NPC.esp 39 Babarized SinbloodWidowDress.esp 3A Babarized ExnemRogueOutfits.esp 3B Babarized ExnemWarrior.esp 3C Dragon Claw Sword And Shield.esp 3D DarkFlameSwordAndShield_v10_FIXED_ESP.esp 3E Slof's Horses Base.esp 3F Slof's Extra Horses.esp 40 Goblin Realswords+Tribal Shields.esp 41 TamrielTravellers.esp [Version 1.39c] ++ TamrielTravellersFactionAll.esp [Version 1.39c] 42 TamrielTravellersItemsUnscaled.esp [Version 1.39c] 43 ShiveringIsleTravellers.esp [Version 1.39c] ++ ShiveringIsleTravellersFriendlyFactions.esp [Version 1.39c] 44 Nightshade_Armor.esp 45 BabShop.esp 46 HeartOftheDead.esp [Version 6.0.1] 47 LetThePeopleDrink.esp [Version 2.5] 48 Malevolent.esp 49 Servant of the Dawn.esp 4A TheForgottenShields.esp 4B Knights.esp ++ KnightsBabFemaleArmors.esp 4C Knights - Unofficial Patch.esp [Version 1.0.9] 4D TOTF.esp 4E RTT.esp 4F Mighty Umbra - Vanilla OB.esp 50 Blood&Mud.esp 51 The Lost Spires.esp 52 Lost Paladins of the Divines.esp 53 MannimarcoRevisited.esp 54 Enhanced Daedric Invasion.esp 55 mythsandlegends.esp 56 Harvest [Flora].esp [Version 3.0.0] ++ Harvest [Flora] - Shivering Isles.esp [Version 3.0.0] 57 Bag of Holding.esp [Version 1.5.0] 58 Cliff_BetterLetters.esp [Version 1.1] 59 DropLitTorchOBSE.esp [Version 2.1] 5A Leviathan Soulgems.esp 5B P1DkeyChain.esp [Version 5.00] 5C StarX Vampire Deaths.esp 5D Toggleable Quantity Prompt.esp [Version 3.1.1] 5E RealisticForceMedium.esp 5F RealisticMagicForceHigh.esp 60 GalerionUnarmoredAcrobatics.esp 61 Improved Ancestor Guardian.esp 62 MidasSpells.esp 63 Enchantment Enhanced.esp 64 Deadlier Traps.esp 65 RenGuardOverhaul.esp 66 RenGuardOverhaulShiveringIsles.esp 67 Enhanced Grabbing.esp [Version 0.4] 68 ResetEmotionAfterCombat.esp 69 Duke Patricks - Near Miss Magic And Arrows Alert The Target.esp 6A Duke Patricks - Fresh Kills Now Alert The NPCs.esp 6B Smarter Mercantile Leveling - Multi.esp 6C Let There Be Darkness - Cyrodiil + SI.esp 6D Let There Be Darkness - Knights.esp ++ Better Redguard v2.esp 6E ElaborateEyes-RensBeautyPackFull.esp ++ EVE_KhajiitFix.esp ++ [GFX]_Initial_Glow-all.esp ++ BadderFireFX.esp ++ BadderFrostFX.esp ++ BadderShockFX.esp ++ Visually Realistic Deadly Lava.esp 6F StokerWolff.esp 70 Viconia.esp ** All Natural - Indoor Weather Filter For Mods.esp [Version 0.9.9] 71 Bashed Patch, 0.esp 72 Duke Patricks - Combat Archery.esp [Version 1.8] 73 Streamline 3.1.esp 74 Sister_of_Eisen_BAB.esp ++ Frostmourne & LK Shield on Back.esp 75 Jpm's Vampire Hunters.esp 76 1SB_LucreziaNavarre outfit.esp 77 Babarized ExnemAmazon.esp 78 Xia_SilkDragonImportsV1_for_BAB.esp 79 1SB_NightWeaveOutfit.esp 7A Featherwynd - Amazon Priestess.esp I've tweaked it as much as I could, but after hours of frustration I just reverted back to the BOSS load. Obviously, it stops after I disable both mods, but I was wondering if there was some way to stop this anyway. In regards to TOTF, I have had no such problem after completing that. Other than that, I can provide no other insight. Are there any suggestions, fixes, etc that can be used to remedy the situation?

Corrupted Saves..... On Every Save.
Sealwarrior replied to Sealwarrior's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Alright, I am stumped. I now understand that this message has something to do with Python, or at least I think it does. The last line seemed to sum it all up, but I have no idea what it means or how to fix it..... I do not know code that well, I am afraid. I can only surmise through a long google session that it is a conversion problem with Python, and perhaps a few other things as well. What is actually being converted I do not know, and I am not sure if that is actually the only problem. As far as I know such messages have not been addressed as of yet, and I can now understand why that is. If anyone is looking at this and thinking to themselves "what is this fool talking about," don't worry. If you have the same problem, I just think it would be wiser to import your old character to a new game. If anyone is willing to delve into this quagmire any further, I can only wish you good luck :thumbsup: ..... :sick: -
Corrupted Saves..... On Every Save.
Sealwarrior replied to Sealwarrior's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Sorry for the delay again. Stars2heaven, thanks for the link, but I've already read it. Even though you have not read it, I think you know of this solution as well. I know that you can replace the .ess file with one of the .baks, but those also get corrupted for me as well. Maigrets, thanks for the info about the save bloat problem and the link concerning "placeatme." I have tried to remove the bloat from one of my good saves and start from there. My save was about 11.6 mb before removing the bloat, and 11.3 mb afterwards. After removing the bloat using Bash, I continued playing for a while. I experienced no major crashes, but as soon as I decided to test saving again, I had another CTD and a new corrupted save. This was a regular save, as I had disabled autosaves and had not quicksaved since I started. I had used 2 regular saves to track my progress: One before entering a dungeon or town, and another upon exiting them. I believe the corruption sprang about after saving inside an ayleid ruin just as I was about to leave it. Using Bash to check the statistics of the corrupted save yielded this message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Mopy\basher.py", line 8702, in Execute saveFile.load(SubProgress(progress,0,0.9)) File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Mopy\bosh.py", line 5677, in load self.tempEffects = ins.read(size) OverflowError: long int too large to convert to int I have seen people post comments about such messages before, but I have yet to understand what it truly means. :confused: I'll consult the Bash FAQ to see if it is referenced there. If anyone else is reading this, perhaps they can offer some feedback as well. -
Corrupted Saves..... On Every Save.
Sealwarrior replied to Sealwarrior's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Sorry for my late responses everyone. Maigrets, I had a bad feeling about my old saves after I reinstalled Oblivion. The fact that it now takes 5-7 seconds delay for a save troubles me. I know it is pointless in asking you or anyone else reading this, but is there a way to make corrupted saves usable again? After hours of research into the issue, I have not found a single solution for repairing tainted saves. I suppose I could use Bash to import my characters into new games, but I feel as though 350 hours combined are now down the drain. As for the load order, I will do as you say by putting Streamline and Bashed Patch last in the order, as well as incrementally activating each mod with a new game.... :ermm: Obviously I am a bit discouraged by this, but it is part of the risk of modding. Stars2heaven (and Maigrets), thanks for the info about disabling autosaver. I am aware that the autosave feature in Oblivion is bugged, but I used that and Streamsave not only for autosaves, but for a replacement for quicksaves and regular saves as well.... All of them were becoming tainted as a result of the CTDs. I apologize if I was not clear enough about that.... Which leads me to Mooncarver's post... Mooncarver, I wish that was the case. I have 2 characters, one that had completed the main storyline and one that did not. If I knew which dungeons where the problem ones, I would have avoided them like the plague. However. the crashes happened randomly at random places... In dungeons, towns, wilderness...... Kind of like a box of chocolates. You never know what you will get. I appreciate the help. Hopefully some more members will have other workarounds and input as well. -
:wallbash: Alright, I have been trying to fix this problem for hours and have gotten nowhere. It seems that every time I make a save, the program crashes and I am left with a partially completed corrupted save. I have tried using both Stramline and Autosaver + Incremental Saver to try and see if it was the game's save system that was the problem, but even the saves made by both programs are being corrupted. I disabled the majority of the mods I had control over and still could not find a solution. As a last resort, I have painstakingly uninstalled oblivion and all mods associated with it and spent 4 hours reinstalling it.... Only to watch it happen again. I am not sure what is wrong.
