Excuse me while I rant, but I really need to ask this. Why are there not more quest mods available for this game. There was a time like two years ago where it looked like we were finally getting good FO4 quest mods, but those just stopped coming. Ever since then it's just settlements, weapons, gameplay adjustments that sometimes copy each other, and of course sexy presets. What happened? I know the dialogue might be an obvious reason, but we now have the tools to bypass it and make it more like 3 and NV. And I do know that there are a handful of "DLC mod" teams that are making huge mods, but those probably won't come out for another 2-3 years if we are lucky. It just pisses me off because it feels like in the golden age of Bethesda games we had a good balance of mods. But now that balance is out of whack, and it makes me concerned for the future of modding.

What happened to Washington's Malevolence
GuymanBot replied to GuymanBot's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Yeah, I know that. But I'm starting to wonder if there even is going to be an update or not. -
A while back I heard of a new "DLC" mod called Washingtons Malevolence. Since I feel FO3 is lacking on quality quest mods, I decided to check it out. However, the author hid it and said to check his Twitter for updates. But I go to his Twitter and he's just sharing memes. Is there an ETA on when he will unhide the mod?

I would love for a mod with these ideas to come to fruition one day, mostly cause I shipped the Courier with Cass since day 1. The main problem is that I feel it would NEED to be voiced, and getting voice actors to immitate all those characters could be troubling. Furthermore, how would this affect the endings? I mean they all have pre determined fates for each ending, and I have a feeling editing the endgame slides and audio conditions might be tricky. If not, impossible.

I have noticed quite a few mods that are specifically made for New California. And the team has said that they hope for the final release to be modder friendly. Is it too early to create a tag for it?

Am I the only one who finds it strange how out of the 13 new companions this game introduces, only 5 of them have quests? I was thinking it would be cool if there was a mod that adds quests to the companions that don't have one, as well as some new ones to those that already have ones. Some ideas I had included: You and Piper doing some DEEP journalist investigating on things in the commonwealth, help Strong find his damn milk, doing some Railroad spy stuff with Deacon, and Kellogg trying to take over Nick. It is to my knowledge that most mods suggested on here never fully come to fruition, but I thought I would just leave the idea here in case anyone wants to pick it up. And if you have anything else to add, feel free.

I love the idea of the Courier Duster. You have fought long and hard, and now you have a piece of clothing that represents all of the actions you have made, as you march onto the Dam for one last fight. But at the same time, the Elite Riot Gear looks like the perfect armor to wear for a battle as epic as Hoover Dam. What I guess I am asking is, is it possible for a mod that is basically the Elite Riot Gear, that has the Courier Duster on it. You can even make it so that you need both of the armors and craft it. I am just always conflicted, As the Riot Gear is quite possibly the best looking armor in the game, but it requires you leave behind one of the more symbolic ones behind.

NCR City War Front and Cassidy Caravans Re-established

I really like the idea of the Cassidy Caravan one. Then again, I am just a Cass fanboy, that will take anything that involves her. -
Great Kahns Actually Leave the Mojave
GuymanBot replied to SpermCellGiganticus's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
It would be neat if it was in a post-game mod. The epilogue plain right says that they evacuate during the battle of Hoover Dam. I always saw they did this because both factions were keeping a close eye on them. If they tried to leave anytime sooner, they would probably be stopped pretty quickly. -
A post game mod that changes the wasteland
GuymanBot replied to GuymanBot's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
This actually sounds similar to another mod that attempted to make a post game mod, Shady Sands. However a thing I want you to consider is the options you want to make to the Mojave. The big thing I made this thread for was mainly to restore the dialogue that I mentioned in the beginning. And as for the NCR and Legion options, I think you are a little off on what they would do. There is little to no reason the NCR would want to shut down the Lucky 38 and securitrons, if anything they would want to use them to their advantage. And the Legion would definitely be interested in Vegas, the epilogue plain right says the leader marches down the strip. The House and Yes Man options sound spot on though, minus thugs being removed. The Followers ending for those options prove that and Independent Vegas is just as chaotic as before. Your ideas are good though, just giving my two cents. -
New town in the bottom of the divide
GuymanBot replied to xzanderain's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
That would actually be really cool. I feel a mod like that can get the message of how; even in places as deadly as The Divide, hope can be found. It would also be interesting to see how remnants from the old Divide would react to seeing the person responsible for bombing their home coming back to make things right. I would imagine a mod like that being similar to the game "This War of Mine". I support that idea, and hope someone might pick it up. -
A post game mod that changes the wasteland
GuymanBot replied to GuymanBot's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
I'v started on some of the endings (NCR, and independent), you can find them under the tag viva new vegas, but most of it is unreleased (gotta pack em up and get em out). They contain minor elements (like changing the penthouse elevator to allow companions in, once Mr. House is dead) to big game world changes (removing battle conditions on the exterior of hoover dam, and the the fort) Originally I wanted to start quests/campaigns post end game, but I'v scaled back my ambitions. I'd also like to see settlement/resettlement, depending on the end game conditions. If you'd like post some ideas you have here or in my other viva new vegas threads and I'll see what I can include/make. Forgot to quote you in the last post. So here is that. Independence AND Mr. House would actually be easier than I thought, just put securitrons everywhere. I mean an Independent Vegas would just have them everywhere, and Mr.House only cares about the area around New Vegas, but he would probably send them so he can spy on all of the Mojave. As for that BOS mod idea you had, prepare for a mouthful. It would be interesting, because the Chapter in the Brotherhood does not really care about the Mojave, they only care about technology and nothing else. Their first major step would be to take back Helios One. From there they might have to once again convince other factions to help them take down the NCR, since they are not strong in numbers. Vegas, particularity the Lucky 38, would only be of interest to them due to the amount of Securitrons they could control, so that would be THEIR motivation to kill House. Finally comes the Dam, I don't think I need to say why they would want it. It is the one thing that gives Vegas power, whoever controls that, controls Vegas. Maybe for the battle, after you defeat both sides what happens with the Dam would be up to who is the Elder by the end. If McNamara is elder, he might shut the Dam down, or put it in a state where the Mojave wont be at full power. If Hardin is Elder, he might leave it on out of pity for New Vegas. Once again, the main thing I would like to see is just restoring the cut dialogue that was meant to play once you finished the game. If you would like to hear other ideas, please let me know what your looking for. -
A post game mod that changes the wasteland
GuymanBot replied to GuymanBot's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Oh wow. I just barley got a notification that someone responded to this. Well as far as ideas, I only have a few for different endings. With one of the things I would like to look at something like this being the Fallout 2 endings. While the epilogue said a bunch of things, that does not necessarily mean they happen right away. 1. NCR- The NCR would probably be the most easiest to implement. I would just put a bunch of NCR citizens and Soldiers in different settlements, minus Novac sense they remain independent if you get the good ending in "Come fly with me". It would also be cool if you had BOS soilders petrol the two highways with the NCR if you succeed in making a truce. Other than that, I am actually kind of stumped. 2 Legion- the Legion would probably have two different conditions; Is Caesar or Lanius the leader of the Legion. If Caesar survives the ending I am guessing it would be less choas, maybe only a handful of slaves in each town, and camps all across the Mojave. If Lanius wins, he basically crucifies anyone he sees as a threat, some plenty of people on crosses. I will get back to you on what a Mr.House and independent victory would look like, as well as ideas for a BOS mod. Also note I havent played NV for a while, and need to look back at the epilouges to see what happens in each victory. -
A post game mod that changes the wasteland
GuymanBot posted a topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
While I know there are mods like CAGE that let us continue the game after we finish the final quest, it peeves me that there are none that try to change the wasteland depending on who you sided with, which to my understanding was something the author of CAGE wanted to do. And I remember seeing a mod that was trying to do this, but it got taken down for some reason. Which is weird. I have seen a mod that for almost every bit of cut content, except for this. I mean just listen to this dialogue and tell me there is not potential to do something with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkCVSztvD8g Like I can see NCR soldiers and citizens occupying certain settlements, Legion camps across the Mojave, Securitrons as far as the eye can see. All the while people comment on your actions while Mr. New Vegas reminds everyone what happened at the Battle of Hoover Dam. What do you guys think? Is this something that could be done? Or is it just something that should be left untouched? -
I am sure as far as themes go, you would probably just get them automatically. Mainly due with how the game handles reputation, and how you don't make enemy's out of anyone until doing ONE certain quest. Especially with the limited dialogue options. I would imagine to be tricky. And as far as Bethesda doing something about it, I am suprised they did not think about this from the get go. I have noticed that with each game they make, they just REALLY want you to check out the new feature they made. Oblivion had the physics engine, Skyrim had an "Unlimited" quest system, Fallout 4 had Wasteland defense for babies. And if it weren't for the fact that Bethesda is done with Fallout 4 so they could make something they enjoy working with, that hope of a DLC is thin. I can just hope that in a year or two times someone will be able to pass by everything we talked about, and people that don't want to build will have an alternative to having a nice looking Sanctuary.

In hopes that this idea does not get lost to the annals of history. I am not sure how far the script extender has gotten for this to be possible. I would imagine after you pay him, it would fade to black and after a few seconds, the settlement would be made. I also think that for settlements like The Castle, you would probably have to finish the quest that relates to it.

So this is a mod that I actually had an idea for ever since Fallout 4 came out. Not everyone likes the building mechanic in this game, so what if there was a mod that makes your settlements look good without you wasting HOURS of your time? Basically I was thinking that depending on certain settlement prerequisites, a person would come saying something along the lines of "This place looks like it's seen better days, want me to make it look livable?" And you would pay him a reasonable amount of caps, supplies, and whatever else a dude needs to rebuild a settlement, and BAM! Sanctuary looks good, and you didn't need to scream about alignment issues ONCE. Of course their would probably have to be certain requirements before the guy shows up. If with the Minutemen, you would have to do the respective quests for that settlement. And for abandoned settlements like Spectacle Island, I would imagine just clearing the area out would trigger him to come. And the Settlements would range from looking like a standard livable area to a full on place that people would want to live in. It all ranges how much you are willing to pay the guy. It could also have different themes depending on what Faction you are aligned with. What do you guys think of this idea? I have thought about it for a while now, and sadly lack the abilities to do it myself. Maybe one day I can see something like this come into fruition.

This is a really good idea also! :) The only thing keeping me from doing it myself is my lack of experience with modding. Hopefully in a year from now, someone would be able to do a mod like this.

This is the idea I was trying to figure out! Yeah, you do all of that, and then you could restore the power. From there I am still trying to think what would be cool to make this DLC satisfactory to make us good players feel complete.

That would have been awesome to just do that with any of your sided factions. And maybe after the dust has settled and the power is restored, you could maybe help the traders turn Nuka-World into an are similar like The Hub or something.

So there was a mod that caught my eyes few months ago called "Fate of the Mojave". It was another post game mod, but unlike CAGE wanted to make its top priory showing what happened to the Mojave after Hoover Dam. It originally was only going to have unspoken dialogue that you needed subtitles to hear, but decided to try and use some of the dialogue that was in the game files that related to the diffrent endings. Now it seems that the mod page is off the list. What happened to it?

Yeah yeah just get it out of your system. I was disappointed when I found out that Nuka World was another example of Bethesda trying to force you to try out their "cool new feature". And yeah there is a good path for you to do, but then you beat the dlc in less than an hour. I actually kind of suck at brainstorming suggestions (this is my first time adding a topic to these forums) so what do you guys think would be a cool way for this to happen.
