Aela isn't all that sweet. Pretty much none of her dialogue changes. I wish she were more intimate, I really like her personality. It is attractive.

I don't know. I didn't like FNV, nor did I like the followers, but at least they had extensive questlines and lots of room for interaction. How they would give their thoughts on the situation and such. In that regard, they were even better then in FO3.

But Skyrim followers are just walking zombies :(

Well, frankly, TES and followers ... They never really were... deep. But even the technical side kinda sucks, the lack of chance to configure AI and the pathfinding (Like when the follower decides that the best way to get around a stone in the middle of a road is to find nearest mountain, run around it twice and then go back to the stone), or the weird skills they have... Like Farkas, looks like your average heavy warrior and despite the looks and a fact that he wears heavy armor and twohanders, he has One handed and light armor skills...

But yeah, with the addition of "romance" option, one hoped for a bit more depth, but there really isn't. It's more like quantity over quality. You can marry half of Skyrim, but they are all the same.

    @KuluSky

"I've heard better wisecracks from Orgnar!"

  2. Well, in regards to FNV, the followers were better in every turn. They had terrible pathfinding, but I'm not sure if Skyrim isn't actually worse even in that. Don't remember Raul getting perma stuck in a pebble on the road or falling trough floor and then falling dead from thy sky half hour later. Also at least some basic choices as to how do the followers behave would be cool. Not to mention, some "back away!" command would be helpfull, since NPCs can't be easily moved anymore.

    But...

    But!

I am sure some awesome person will make them all better eventually, with the kit out...

And the marriage needs fixing too. It's just weird, especially if you marry someone from Companions.... How they suddenly turn from tough warriors into overly sweet shopkeepers who enjoy cooking :D

  3. After the 1.4 patch, I also dropped from "nice, smooth game" to "incredible stutter slideshow interrupted by CTDs" and surprisingly, for whatever reason, reinstalling SKSE and SkyUI (even tho I had correct versions) fixed it. Altho ever since 1.4 I too have bit worse performance, but I guess it might bebecause things like SkyBoost no longer work. Also the HD pack seems to actually improve my performace a little bit, which I trully don't understand, because if something, it should make the performance worse.
  4. Well, that one of the more bizzare glitches. I really laughed when I walked in on wedding where everyone was dead on the floor, and priest of Mara yelled at me that I'm "Too late". Too late indeed, everyone obviously died of dehydration in the menatime.

...Maybe it's not a glitch, maybe Silver Hand has a reason to go aftter your spouse? Ah! :D

  5. Well, you are one of the few who actually was excited about Steam workshop.

Even for people (actually, especially for people) who just want simple mods and have no experience (and want none), it gets a bit rough there, because they keep repeating how it's all plug-and-play simple and Steam will do it for you, except for it isn't and Steam won't. I wonder how come every bellow-average modder knew it will not work as advertised, but Valve and Bethesda didn't.

And from what I saw, lot of the bigger mods use the place just to link to Nexus, which is kinda funny too :)

  6. There are no chimnies, because the northern architecture after which Skyrim is modeled had none. Chmnies wouldn't really work with open fireplaces like this either way. The smoke goes out trough either one larger or several smaller "holes" in the roof .

But of course some of the houses in Skyrim are a bit simplified and wouldn't really work...

  7. Purple means missing ... So unless you have incredibly old computer which is not able to load textures at all (but if all is purple, that means all is missing - to clarify, the esps comming with the pack tell the game to ignore the original textures and load only the new pack, so almost everything purple means the game is told to load the pack, but the pack simply isn't there), I suggest you try either putting the new texture packs into ini, so the game detects them even without esps, or reinstalling Skyrim alltogether, then redownloading and reinstalling the texture pack. This way, you will know for sure if it's not just corrupted file or some older texture (mod) somehow messing with the new ones.
  8. As above, just a note, you can edit looksall you want, but if you change the race of your character in this articular menu, all your skills will be reseted to the starting amount, so you might not want to do that.

I never had that problem :teehee:

Then you are a mutant, because it's a fixed part of this command. :D

Doesn't happen if you change your race without the menu tho. Usually. Sometimes it also comes with delay. Maybe you'll get suprised one day. :D

  9. As above, just a note, you can edit looks all you want, but if you change the race of your character in this particular menu, all your skills will be reseted to the starting amount, so you might not want to do that.
  10. I STRESS once more, you just have to add the .bsa to your ini to avoid your own textures from being overriden.

But since I unpacked ALL of the game textures -the BSA wouldn't do anything, would it?

Well, I don't really see why would you want to do that, but I guess unpacking the HD ones into data files and getting rid of the esps completly should work just as well, but I'm not sure how the game will cope with several Gbs of loose files in the folders, I'd say it means slower loadings, possibly crashes...and who knows what else once you get a lot of mods atop of it. I don't know tho, can't say I really know how Skyrim can deal with a hell lot of files, I'm basing the assumption on Oblivion and Fallout experiences :)

    @ Vanlococo

I'm not sure there, But I think the ground on most places actually is the same as it always was. But houses / wood is noticable, when you look close enough. I might be a bit more sensitive, since haven't used any retext mods so far, because I somewhat though they will give us better textures.

  11. I STRESS once more, you just have to add the .bsa to your ini to avoid your own textures from being overriden.

How do we do that buddy?

Skyrim.ini in your documents, Archive section, adding the names of the texture packs, should look like this...

    sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa

Then disable the two .esps which came with the pack. Now you should have the HD pack, but it will be overriden by any texture you add into the texture folder or with another esps.

  12. Well, the thing is... why are you asking about how Steam Workshop works on Nexus forums, not Steam forums?

But once you get it from Steam, it should be visible in NMM just like anything else, I just believe you can't deactivate it (or uninstall), as Steam should check and reactivate anything you got there anytime you run the game.

  13. Okay good, I always feel uneasy when the installs are too easy. Prefer having some control with NMM.

Yeah, that's actually what bugged me the most while checking the SW (well, apert from being it Steam), you completly realease any kind of control, since you only have one button to work wih. Also was told Steam reverses the DLed mods back to original state when you tamper with them without unsubscribing. Wonder if that's true, but I'm too lazy to try. Either way, things which need Script extender or script dragon, eventually ESB / similar will never be there, same for multiple esm/esb - ini tweaks I guess, so either way, Nexus it was, Nexus it will be. In Nexus we trust. :D

Actually, thinking about it, I'd say SW will have mods which hypothetically could be implemented on consoles (might happen, huh? I'm sure there must be some plan on how to make money from SW). Which means keeping it simple.

  14.

Dont pull the dont have the money BS. My my joyed days of gaming were back when I used to have to save the heck out of my money to buy a game, and then played the heck out of it because I would not get another for a few months. Now days I dont get the same joy out of games. Had I stolen back then, I would have missed out on that experiance.

Don't say "Don't use that No-money BS" and then use the "If you don't have money, you apperciate things more" line. That jst doesn't look very good.

But, thing is, today I say it's pretty hard to find a game that is worth the price you have to pay for them. Feels like no many games can be enjoyed for more than 10 hours, while few (or a lot) years back, average playtime of 50+ hours and stories that made one cry veren't that rare. I'd say it's more about this, than about how many games and how often you may get to trully apperciate them.

It hurts to buy a game for 50€+ just to do double facepalm after 20 minutes of playing and putting it on the shelf, permanently (Dungeon Siege III, anyone?). And I do not believe it would feel differently, if I knew I will not be able to get another game for 3 months.

Edit: BTW guys, don't go acting all angel-ish there. This is about piracy advocating / pirates being pissed because they can't get CK (yet...anyway). Acting like you never "pirated" something makes you look weird, because I know you did. We all know they did. We all did. It's like saying you never peed in your pants when you were 2 months old, because you were born sitting on a toilet :D

  15. Well, have been playing with the textures for couple of hours... And it's not really that noticable (except for equipment - things like clothes, shields and some armors are 140% better than they were, really). But. While the changes seem to be very small and barely noticable, it is very nice improvement overall, the whole place looks a lot cleaner and neater, with absolutely no FPS loss or prolonged loading times + you can just fix the ini so you don't have to use the .esps and thus have no problem using your own retexts where you want.

So I say... Go for it, nothing to loose, only good may come out of it.

I STRESS once more, you just have to add the .bsa to your ini to avoid your own textures from being overriden.

  16. It's in tools, it's just named Creation Kit, nothing about TES in the name.

Textures are under DLC, but its's free.

Also the Steam seems to be fried, so download of anything over 5kb will most likely take many hours. As usually.

  17. Looks to me like it makes especially the equipable stuff a hell lot better. The statics, well, I didn't have problem with them before and I don't have problem now. Point is, it's a bit better everywhere, not just "That wardrobe in that house" type of retexture. Also has almost no impact on FPS, which cannot be said about some of the fan made retexts.

But to each his own, no?
