  1. I had trouble installing from dvd as well for some reason, took 15 mins of rotation to get to autorun.

Either way, the serial is the same no matter whether you buy it in shop or on Steam, so I'm pretty sure you can download it, you just have to scout around steam to find out how or wait for someone more steam-clever.

But just guessing, you could find Skyrim there and "buy" then some sort of "I already have a key".

  2. No comment to "Omg graphic so sucks it's so old omg"

Apart from that, as above, I also think Skyrim seriously lacks in quest area. Feels like all the "guild" quests are simply skipping, starting a story, then cutting the middle and going straight to the end.

But, Skyrim has much more "living" atmosphere, the cities and NPCs in them are much better than in Oblivion.

The colors can make one a bit depressed, but it's supposed to be sub-polar area, it's not supposed to be all sun, warm and beaches I guess. Even tho that would be a nice change.

Totally disagree about look and animation tho. You CAN'T possibly mean that animations and looks of characters in vanilla Skyrim are worse than in vanilla Oblivion. That's just not possible unless you took an arrow to the eye. Eyes actually.

As far as it goes for me, vanilla Skyrim vs vanilla Oblivion ... Skyrim surely wins, even tho it has so many shortcommings. I should note tho, that I found Oblivion to be cool, yet not very interesting game without mods. But comparing Modded Oblivion with vanilla Skyrim would not be fair. That's 5 years of works vs nothing.

  3. I comepletely agree, this is the exact feeling i have of skyrim and pretty much of all bethesda games...overall their games are good, you can get lost in them for hours and hours, but once you start to pay attention to the details, wich will happen after a time, you see the parts are poorly done.

I love to RP and immerse myself into a game, but with skyrim i just couldnt...i did played it a lot, but the more i played it, the more i felt disconnected with it...and finally after coming to the bards college, eagerly waiting that im going to be a bard, you know playing those instruments and stuff, the only thing i got was some quest and learn speech...that was basicaly the last straw, after that i didnt played.

Now im just waiting for the ck to repeat the same as with oblivion, tons of mods in order to be interested and i havent even finished the main quest. :wallbash:

Yeah, once you start to think about it too much, it all breaks. But the details hurt, so many things that could've been so much better with little to no effort while it was in development. It actually looks like some parts were added just to remind you "It's just a game, don't try to get sucked in too much", can't shake that feeling.

From that point of view, I think the best game Beth made (in recent history) is Fallout 3. It's a bit of a combo breaker, when compared to other Fallouts, but still. Found it to be easy to get completly lost there, when noone kept telling you you're a sneak thief after you saved their life 15 times over.

  4. I bought DA:O and played it through 3 times with different options. Way to linear and after my disappointment and what I read didn't bother with DA:2. I already have way more hours into Skyrim. It's not that Skyrim is perfect it's just that nothing has even come close since....Oblivion. (OK..I loved Fallout 3 too but not NV.)

Well, what I can recommend is The Last Remnant, but don't even bother trying it if you don't like turn-based JRPG, then the Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 (Because Faerun is Faerun) and prolly KOTORs (not the MMO). It's all rather old, but unless you're a graphic freak, you won't really mind it I believe. All those have nice stories and gameplay.

That's still comming from similar-to-BG tho.

Elvinkun, since Neverwinter Nights, TES has been the only series I have found with such wonderful storylines. Stories feel undervalued.

Well, that sounds a bit weird to me, because while I love TES as a whole, I never really considered story to be it's strongest sides. Well, surely not on Oblivion. Morrowind, perhaps, Skyrim... The MQ is...decent, even if predictable.

  5. Skyrim is one of those cases... every single part of it sucks, but when they are put together, it's pretty epic for no apparent reason.

That is if you can live with large number of bugs and technical difficulties. But we all knew they will be there.

I'm sure someone will like to hit me with a brick again, but there are no games like Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and Planetscape anymore. Everything went to hell a bit. Or actually, everything improved, if you are "cool person" and hate reading, story and such. If you want to keep close, you want to aim for Neverwinter series. Perhaps Dragon Age: Origins (Note, Dragon Age 1, not DA 2, that's just not "it").

  6.

I don't think Fox News is a good source, and your trying to convince me that I should be willing to objectify women is actually disturbing. If guys don't stand up when others promote fanboyism and other variants of toxic masculinity, well, that's not going to help us one bit--I'm sure you wouldn't like to be thought of as a shallow brute who reduces women to boobs, and neither would I, hence my objection to objectification and the promotion of fanboyism.

Well, I admit that bringing up that old report might've been a bit of far blind shot, but it's a good example of what may some people consider to be offensive (And let's face it, ME isn't one of the sexies games out there, no matter how you look at it), my original point being that I don't quite understand what may anyone find to be personally offensive on "sexy" armors/clothes. I understand why might one ignore it or dislike it, but offensive?

And I surely would not like to be seen as shallow brute, especially considering that I'm not a man. Not that it changes anything, but I can't see how any mod can objectify or reduce anyone or anything to "symbols". It's a game or even a modification to the game made by users. If someone wants to see huge boobs or penises all over the place, well, that's their thing, I'm just trying to understand how it is offensive to anyone. It's similar case with people being -offended- by kids being killable, slavery or prostitution in games.

That being said, another part of the ME story, while I can't see how a 3 seconds long lesbian scene or a little bit tigher armor can offend anyone, I can see how a random guy talking about what makes it so very offensive to all women can be a bit, as I said before, annoying, especially if he spouts incredible nonsense. Please note that I don't mean you.

From the other side of view, you had this... what's her name, Cooper...? Saying all men are viewing male game characters as their fathers and thus any sexual content in games causes great harm to their minds. It is so, even if you disagree. Understand what I'm talking about now?

  7.

Do you suffer from ADD? I'm only asking because the title of the topic is "Are Female Armors Denigrating?" so if you aren't discussing outfits then what are you going on about? Mass Effect?

Go back over your posts on this page and the previous one and maybe you'll see why I've quoted your post.

Well, you obviously aren't discussing anything at all, just kind of showing ego around, that's interesting. Also, it's a bit sad if you can't tell what is extremly obvious joke, which is possible, considering how dead-serious you seem to be.

Either way, you don't have to run in raging into every conversation around, you can just ignore threads or people, when you know you won't be able to control your "hate". Think about that and have a nice day. No point in continuing, wouldn't you agree?

  8. Whether you're a man, a woman or a hermaphrodite from another galaxy is irrelevant. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. What is wrong about guys feeling that women are objectified by skimpy outfits?

I may disagree with them but that doesn't change that it is their right to have an opinion.

Also quite frankly I don't care much for all the smugness in your posts (FYI before stating that others don't make sense you should double check that you do). Just because people don't share your opinion doesn't mean that they are mentally deficient.

Well, it wasn't about skimpy outfits, but anyway, everyone is entitled to an opinion, that is the truth, there is a difference between saying "My opinion on the subject is..." and "Your opinion on the subject is..." tho, as the second isn't really an opinion, but a person saying what is good and bad for group of people that he is not a part of.

Also, quite frankly, I wasn't telling anyone he or she is mentally deficient, if you care enough to bash people, at least read what you bash them for. Now read the last paragraph of your post. Applies quite well actually.

  9. So when people complain about sexism you're going to insult their intelligence and make ageist comments? I think your argument isn't at all a good one.

I just think Fox News isn't very reliable source at all. And that reporter who presented that legendary "gaming review" is a pearl, really. The "Doesn't favor mental activity" applies quite well.

On the other note, you don't find men complaining about how this and that is sexist and offensive to women a bit off? I do. Especially if it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

  10. Well, you should've added the "...So you people who play on anything other than master really suck" and it would really be clishe.

Either way, there already are mods adjusting difficulty, search, but anything major will not be out before CK. Which really isn't surprising.

If you want a vanilla challange, play a mage and don't level smithing and enchanting. Or a fighter, but ignore Stealth.

  11. How does one discern that a woman 'looks' unintellectual? Is there a vacant caption floating over her head? :whistling:

Yes, let's play the game of words! If I had "the" mood, I would just say "look in the mirror", but no, oh no, I won't.

I think you know what I meant... And if not, you are a happy person and will be forever... if you won't try to find out

...Even tho that one newsteller actually does "look unintellectual" and that's even before she starts speaking... Those little mysteries...

  12. Actually, I did see the report and it was stupid. I only think Mass Effect is not as awesome and progressive as it's claimed to be, not that it's horrible and that we need to "think of the children".

Well, I wasn't trying to promote or demote ME series, I just wanted to point out that the people offended by "skimpy" outfits and similar adult-oriented mods (or parts of a game) are usually either rather unintellectualy looking women or middleaged men who keep going on about sexism and that's just ...weird and somewhat ironic.

  13. Actually, Mass Effect does have "lesbian" scenes that are made just for fanboys and a homophobic double standard, where there's no bisexual male companion but there is a bisexual female one. It is sexist for that reason.

Well, there is a possibility of lesbian scene only if you play female at the first place ...and, well, technically Liara is not a female - and that's where it all gets a bit awkward when you think about it. Have you actually seen the report tho?

Tho yeah, it's the good old story about how people hate homosexuals...except for when they are nice girls.

  14. To each his or her own. Games are there to be enjoyed and if someone enjoys extremely skimpy clothes, nudity or wall-of-steel style, why not do it. If you dislike it, ignore it, simple as that. Can't see how it would be offensive, unless you work in FOX news (Mass Effect is porn and sexist! report anyone?).

Well, to be trutfull, I find the fact everything has some sort of Z-size boobs a little bit annoying, but... still can't see how it would be offensive.

But immersion choice? Hardly. 95% of the skimpy outfits are extremely illogical and make no sense at all as an armor. So it's just a style.

  15. Just to be precise...

    1) You start getting letters from "friend" once you use shout in public place, no matter how far you are in the storyline. Not sure what the game actually counts as public, but if Guard comes to tell you "Stop shouting", it's enough.

3)I believe they stop giving you new locations once you have 25 (or something around that) Shouts learned. Opposed to letters, which seem to be comming untill you collect all the Shouts.

  16. i think im having the same problem as you, i tried to get rid of the mouse acceleration with no avail.

and that reinstallation i did, didnt work :/ I think im going to take a break from this game until these problems are fixed

    Haha, funny thing that.

First, I had to fix my game after the stealthy DRM patch. Then again after 1.2, that was especially hard. 1.3 didn't break anything, but made me unable to set mouse as I want to. Few days ago, I battled with the ini, had many facepalms, almost got used to the un-sensitive mouse, then suddenly, my mouse buttons stopped working after loading the game... Tadaah, something snapped, and I just can't bring myself to clicking Skyrim icon anymore

Not quite sure what's up with the inis tho, really seems like anything I touch in Ini get's set to default upon entering the game. New Steam feature to make gaming experience better perhaps?

  17. Well, this might be partially offtopic, but I just remembered that since 1.3 I can't "tweak" my mouse settings in the inis, no matter what I change, it has no effect, apart from mouse sensitivity being set to defaul one I start the game. I haven't really tryed changing anything else, I have rather antique computer, so I'm just glad I can play on high without FPS problems, haven't really tried to make anything better than it is, would hate to disturb the ...balance.

Guess that's just me tho, if inis couldn't be tweaked since 1.3 there would be hell lot of posts about it I believe.

  18. I fear I would be lying if I told you that I know what might be the problem, I suggested those, because I know that certain texture packs make my shadows display in a bit of a weird manner, "bbq grids" on walls and such, then also ENB patches can mengle with shadows on higher settings I think.

DS shouldn't be any problem, as it's not touching graphics in any matter, same with the LAA.

But if you can't tweak anything in the inis, I'm not sure what the problems is. Are you sure you are doing it in the right ini in the right place? (not trying to be offensive, just looking at possible causes)
