  1. I've reinstalled FNV Ultimate and am going through a problem that I went through my first time playing the game a year or so ago. An NPC will move its mouth and then several seconds later the speech occurs. I fixed it the last time with a patch for Silent Hill from an ENB site, but I cannot for the life of me find it or the directions on how to apply it. I suppose I'm in hopes that a better solution will have been found in the meantime as the patch kept the game from recognizing my graphics card.
  2. Right. The initial problem was that an NPC's mouth would start moving and then the dialogue would kick in maybe five or ten seconds later. The solution I found was a patch for Silent Hill that was posted on the ENB site. I installed it and it solved the problem. Then I decided to upgrade to FNV Ultimate. After I installed it and the dozen or so mods I was using--including the Silent Hill patch--the game no longer recognized my ATI Radeon 4670 card but only an NVIDIA card, which I do not and have never had. Following some advice in another post about the problem perhaps being caused by a rogue ENB d3d9.dll file in my FNV directory, I renamed that file to d3d9_rogue.dll and the game recognized my card, however the desynchornized dialogue was back. Therefore my question has become whether there is another fix for the dialogue problem than the ENB file, which is confirmed to be the source of the non-recognized video card problem.
  3. ...the Silent Hill patch from ENB? My problem is that although it fixed the desynchronization problem, it keeps the game from recognizing my video card. Is there another patch out or some other way of fixing it out there?
  4. Well, that worked as to getting my video card recognized, but it desynchronized the dialogue from the characters' mouths, which I had originally fixed by installing the Silent Hill patch from ENB, hence the presence of the d3d9.dll file. There must be a way to make it all work, right? Suggestions?
  5. What happened was this: I had FNV installed, then I decided to install FNV Ultimate, and when I did, the game no longer recognized my video card but showed it in the launcher options as NVIDIA without the option to select my ATI Radeon 4670. As I said, everything worked fine in the first install, just not after installing Ultimate. I've reinstalled the ATI drivers but to no avail. Someone else suggested deleting the .ini file so the game would have to re-recognize my hardware. Any suggestions are welcome and greatly appreciated.
  6. The game isn't recognizing my video card so apparently I need to delete an .ini file but am not sure about which one or where to find it.
  7. Roger. Thanks. Now if you would direct me to the .ini file to delete I'll be off and running.
  8. Everything worked fine in FNV, but when I decided to upgrade and installed FNV Ultimate, it doesn't recognize my video card. The vanilla launcher (accessed through Steam) shows it as NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT, but my card is an ATI Radeon, the option for which does not appear in the dropdown menu. Please help.
  9. Forgive me if I'm a little thick when it comes to Steam, but I don't know how to do that. If you would explain or just point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Thanks.
  10. I was about 200 hours in to FNV and had maybe 20 mods, all working well, when I decided to start over using FNV Ultimate Edition with the patch and DLCs. I uninstalled FNV using Revo Uninstaller, which has always worked for me, but not this time: I started the game and there was my old game. How do I completely get rid of FNV so I can start from scratch with a totally new install of FNV Ultimate?
  11. I seem to recall a mod called "STFU" or the like which eliminated merchants' constant comments while selling to them. A search did not turn anything up under that name but I know it's out there, and I would be most grateful to anyone who would identify it for me.
  12. That's the one, alright. Thank you thank you thank you!
  13. I'm trying to find a mod I used the last time I played Oblivion a couple of years ago but now can't locate it. I don't recall if it stood alone or was part of a larger mod. When selling multiples of one item to a merchant, it allowed the selection of one item at a time with a single click instead of the cumbersome vanilla method of multiple clicks. I had thought it was part of Living Economy, which I installed as part of OOO but subsequently disabled as too cumbersome. If someone knows the mod I'm talking about, please let me know. Thanks.
  14. I look forward to the day when I can build a new rig with a ssd. Until then I have to deal with what I have. I am truly impressed that you were able to get over 200 mods to play well together. That would probably cause my old machine to burst into flames. Thanks for the response.
  15. Go figure, eh? It runs it really well, except now with the few mods, as I mentioned, it's having some issues, though I emphasize that by no means of deal-breaker magnitude. And my HDD is IDE, so I suppose that's perhaps a main source of trouble, right? Also, my CPU is simgle core. I know, I know--time to upgrade, but it's a matter of finances. In the meantime I'll defrag. Thanks.
  16. In vanilla Oblivion, I set all the sliders all the way to the right and the game runs silky smooth with only the occasional stutter, which I believe is just the way it goes. FPS is usually between 40 and 50. I should add that my computer is about seven years old. My video card is a Radeon HD 4670. I have about 30 mods installed, working fine, including OOO, sliders still to the max. The only mod I've installed that specifically affects graphics is ImpeREAL Cities. My question is whether it might affect graphics outside the Imperial City itself, because now I'm getting pauses and lags throughout Cyrodiil, though by no means to the point of unplayability, and my fps are somewhat lower, but still never lower than about 20. I suppose it could be because of the extra demand on my CPU (2.4 GhZ) or my system RAM (2 Gigs). What do you guys say?
  17. The console command worked like a charm and it persisted into the next session. I had really expected the bashed patch approach to work, though, and now I'm still puzzled over why it didn't. Ah well. The Nine are mysterious in their ways. Thanks a million for all the help.
  18. Thanks Striker879. However, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've rebuilt the bashed patch using a variety of changed settings and am not getting any change in the movement of time. What got me onto this was seeing the hands speed around the dial on the clocks from the Clocks of Cyrodil mod. I set the timescale to 12, then custom 15, and finally to 1 to see if there was any difference, and the time passed at the same rate, with the Cyrodil time synced to the time as shown on the clocks. I checked the timescale box, unchecked it, and rebuilt the patch repeatedly but no luck. Finally I set it back to default 30. What am I doing wrong?
  19. Many thanks to you both for your very clear and complete replies. I think I'll go ahead and set it probably to 15 and hope that I remember to reset it for the quests you mentioned. If I don't remember, I gather that resetting it once the quest breaks will set it right, correct? Again thank you both.
  20. I would like to slow down the passage of time in Cyrodil. I tried the method in the Oblivion Tweak Guide, which is as follows: The result was that everything slowed down; for example, the speed at which NPCs walk slowed with each decrease in the number I tried. Is there another setting anyone knows of or perhaps a mod that will just slow the passage of time without slowing down actions within the world?
  21. I remember it well. After standing and marveling at the beauty of the scenery for a few minutes, I made my way into the Market District as I knew how inadequate my equipment was. I spent a few hours there nickel-and-diming my way to better gear by going through crates and barrels for items to sell, and by gathering and selling water hyacinth and sacred lotus from the waterways. After I had bought some better gear, it was off to Weynon Priory. That was four years ago, and finally, after playing it repeatedly since with mods, I finally completed the main quest last week after deciding to play it all the way through in vanilla. I'm revving up to start a new modded game tonight.
  22. My HD is divided into a number of separate partitions/ virtual drives and I need to combine three of them into one to have a comfortably large partition/ virtual drive on which to reinstall Oblivion and its mods. I had intended to use my XP installation disk to do it, but when I started it I received the message that I could not continue without deleting my current install of XP because it is a newer version (SP3) than the one on the disc (SP2). I had completely forgotten about that, and have no desire to reinstall XP just to delete a couple of partitions. I'm sure there is a tool to accomplish what I want to do, but I don't know what it might be, so if someone would point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
