CTD when trying to vendor items
Ainene replied to Flemming's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
That's diffently a MOD unless you got save crashes. (which I don't believe you have) did it happend before you touched the load order or after? Also if you want to test, Try and load your last save. make a backupsave. clean your entire inventory. make a new save (it's better if you just open console and write "save thisismytestsave" so you know you shouldn't use this save when you start playing again. after that you start disable mods 1 by 1 and see if the same thing happens. that way you can find the problem faster than playing around with load order since you mostly use big mods. AFTER you found the problematic mod you try 1. throw in the trash bin. (if you don't care about it that is) 2. You try to get your load order work with it. by either placing the problematic mod earlier(up) or later(down) (I think it usually fixes with later since later mod's are the "value" they use) Also do note that might get new errors with that since the best way to fix such problems are with Merge Patch. BUT ofcourse it won't fix problems the "mod" itself has. so you will still need to update mods if they are outdated -

Cannot install 1.7 patch into Game of the Year
Ainene replied to Mudtoy's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
do you mean the mods directory for Fallout 3 or Fallout Mod Manager? FOMM has its own directory for "mod installation-FMOD" while Fallout 3 MOD installation goes into Fallout 3\Data (You put every file, folder like modname.esp, Mesh, Texture, Sound in there) There are plenty of mod installation guides if you search enough. =) -
as for as I know you can use launcher as long as your dont start game with that (it modifies .ini) For Load Order Modification you can use Fallout Mod Manager you don't have to use "C:\Games" but it's a really simple catogory you can install to You will get UAC problems with "C:/Program Files (x86)/Bethesda Softworks/" also for Crashes. do you crash when you open the game? do you get a games for live error? do you crash after you load/start new game? (Usually Mod dependant) also, DO NOT MOVE your installation from C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\ but rather INSTALL it to another folder (often during installation you get a option to modify install with Custom/Advanced) so if you did move it first of all. uninstall the game. Delete "Fallout 3" in "C:\Program Files(x86)\Betheseda Softworks\" and in "C:\Games\" Reinstall the game using another folder. like "C:\Games\Fallout 3" it will now "install" game into C:\games\Fallout so it will update all registery values so they point there rather than C:\program files(x86\besheda softworks\fallout 3 hope these helps you
-
Hmm, Sounds like a simple UAC problem? simply installationing it to another Catogory than default should help (Such as C:\Games\ ) that is if UAC is active. I myself let UAC ignore everything (Not Recomended) so I can install in default path and havn't had any problems with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. but when I had UAC on Vista I had a lot of problems with Oblivion (Back in the old days) so I'm guessing your problem is simply UAC. well there can be other problems but since your not a "computer savey" I'm guessing its UAC Solutions: 1. Reinstall game into another folder/directory (E.g "C:\Games\Fallout 3") (Recomended) 2. Disable/Ignore UAC settings in Controll Panel -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Controll Settings ( NOT RECOMENDED)

CTD when trying to vendor items
Ainene replied to Flemming's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
I'm not that good with load orders or the mods your trying to use. but have you tried using FO3edit? Fallout Mod Manager's Load Order? BOSS? it feels like you have to fix your load order and make a merge update or a master update (quite easy with FO3edit) You can manually arrange your load order with Fallout Mod Manager. I heard it has even a good automatic load sorter. I havnt tried it I myself use boss and then manually order my mods. -
Constant CTD...what to do
Ainene replied to TheOriginalEvilD's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
I have a feeling that you don't have iNumHWThreads Fix. I hope that help! -
Your Loadorder is VERY weird compared to normal orders I have seen. (Usually Marts is last, Eve before Marts n yada yada. did You try boss and then patch merge & master update with FO3edit? Link: FO3Edit For Creating Merged Patches, Master Updates & Conflict Finding: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637 BOSS: Helps when doing a mod order. I recomend moving the mod order by hand after this http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10193 - Download both files. Replace the Masterlist.txt with the one IN "Masterlist Update - 2010-10-03" Just simple suggestions, I aint a expert!

Mysterious music problem - I'm baffled here
Ainene replied to chaosaeon's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
I'm expertise is abit low on the modding side but I think the problem is mostly how the game handles music. if I remember correctly most music mods have been modified to fit the game and not a "music player" meaning there might be some fade outs here n there n such. also the thing about new music not loading is probly the mod your using (if your using one) can't register the new mods or the infamous "archiveinvalidated". (Spelling?) just run the Mod http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 and see if your new files can be loaded up with that simple fix. Also note that some games have weird values when running "different varibles" on bitrate & hz, to be honest I don't know how fallout handles the Mp3's but it might be because of your varibles on your mp3s. Aint sure. might as well ask someone whos more familiar with music/sound modding -
So you mean You suggest to use it in a "link-list" style FAQ with commenting system. well I could think about that. Guess I will write it in Word/Notepad then Copy/Paste. *Yeah I know Word hates to be Copy/Pasted to plain Text but I hate the fact Notepad is only good for small txt's or programming. I prefer not to write huge articles on it. I will start making such guide. seems like a very good idea. Edit: I just started out. if you have problems please do send em towards me! I will be adding em one by one. Link: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/articles/article.php?id=303 Note that it's just a "basic" display that I go by it. I will be making better looking & adding more solutions when I can find more problems. *I'm I will do it slowly but surely but I will post solutions to problems that are asked asap. it will take time for the article to grow but it will grow but slowly... maybe the speed how humans evolved by a few million times fasters... LOL* Well I hope you like it. and please do post comments about it! either here or the article itself!

Hiya, I was gonna make a FAQ guide that is meant to help people with common and not so common problems and I was wondering if anyone wanted to help me with that and was wondering if this is a good idea and so on blablabla :-) The Basic Idea is that I provide a simple document in either Microsoft Word or PDF. (depends on what is best choice tbh. well maybe both? well PDF is more supported than Word documents no?) the quest is simple. Find common problems, explain what the problem like Problem: Cannot Start fallout and then show a few possible answers. Like Problem Cannot Do that Possible Solution: Add that to the Fallout.ini Possible Solution: Change your Mod Order Possible Solution: install that or that etc etc if you understand what I mean. this will not only help people but also decrease time to search for problems. The Guide I meant to write is gonna take a while (since there are 2 many problems!) and I'm gonna write in my free time which is a little! I meant to write this guide as a "simple why doesnt fallout 3 work? your problem might be this?" so you dont need to spend all your time. I dont really need help but I would love to have feedback, problems, solutions and everything that might make this. I will start writing this n updating this starting next week as I'm a little bit busy this week but any ideas are welcome! Note. I will be updating first post

Anchorage DLC Crashes because of War Correspondent?!
Ainene replied to fo3b's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Is it me or is your load order abit unsorted? You usually need to sort your order list. also DLC's should always be first in order of released If I remember right. MMM should be last. well use this tool to help you with your ordering problems: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10193 Download both files Drop the "BOSS-F v1 12-Feb" files in "Fallout 3\DATA" so that the exe is there Open "Masterlist Update - 2010-10-03" and take out the file and replace it with the one in "Fallout 3\DATA" it includes a update for the mod order list. I hope that helps you in trying to find the problem. also note that someone said to me that Lings should be loaded after Fallout.esm DLC.esm. meaning 06. (aint sure. as I''m trying to solve my problems as well :-D well hope that helps you! Edit Also, try doing a merge patch and masterupdate with FO3Edit -
What do you mean by nothing wants to install? that was pretty vague. try explaining in steps what you did and what happend.

Suddenly can't start fallout 3
Ainene replied to Slitherenguard's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Does FOOK2 even work with FWE? If I remember correctly they aren't compabile... Well, have you done Merged Patch? Have you done MasterUpdate? with FO3edit. Have you tested disabling mods 1 by 1? -
Posting my answer to here as well since someone else might have same problem and this might end up as a solution! Ah use this utility! http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 Fallout.ini should be located in C:\Users\Account\Documents\My Games\Fallout3 (Change Account to your name) this is probly due to FOSE, I'm not entirely sure! also FOMM has a toggle aarchiveinvablablabla thou I recomend using that utility, can't believe I forgot to recomend that! btw BOSS is a also good "Mod Order Sorting" (but you still need to manually order them but saves a lot of time!) DO NOTE that Fallout 3 must create a Fallout.ini first incase you havnt started fallout before! (must have run the fallout3_launcher once before you go meddling with FOMM & FOSE) Note that the Path I said Is my path that i use on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 English. I had the same problem that I couldn't locate it, that was because I didnt run the game before BTW! Remember to start all your fallout programs as Administrator just in case if your running with UAC on! You can also Search for the fallout.ini in your C:\ if you cannot find it! (Best place to search for it is in C:\Users\)

Ainene replied to Cyberweasel89's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting

HELP: Not designed to run on windows?
Ainene replied to Cyberweasel89's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Well You install FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager) And go to Tools -> Install Tweaker and use Fake DLL You can also you FOSE and it will automaticly disable it (you need to take the right version for your game. if your using 1.07 non russian then you can take the latest I recomend using FOSE and FOMM both (Without using Fake DLL) FOSE Link: http://fose.silverlock.org/ FOMM Link: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 Update Forgot to mention what they do FOMM is a Mod Manager that makes your life so easy that you couldn't believe it when installing mods. FOSE is called "Fallout Script Extender" it makes the modders life easier and makes a lot more possibilites. such as more scripting & ability to hotkey most buttons (this is MOD requirement on many mods that do advanced stuff. so it's best to install it anyway!) If your gonna be installing mods I recomend learning how to install mods. and then learn how to merge patch mods with the tool called FO3Edit this is abit Advanced compared to installing mods otherwise http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637 The Use of FOMM is abit simple yet abit advanced. It's quite easy to learn all these tools for basic usage. (FOSE is just a exetueable installed to Fallout 3 Directory (where Fallout3.exe & launcher is at) FOMM is abit more of simple yet advanced tool. you can arrange mods in a order so that you can make mods that didnt work working. which requires basicly some ordering. also some mods uses this tool create simplified installations of mods. in most cases giving you options to install additional/optional stuff. FO3edit is the most advanced tool, I don't know how to use it as I never learned wryebash on oblivion but it's very simple to create a merge patch. you can find tutorials everywhere! -

Fallout 3 CTD Windows 7 x64 Problem
Ainene replied to Ainene's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Freeze after 6.59minutes. in 10th birthday. Version Information: G.O.T.Y 1.07 ALL DLC FOSE 1.02b running Mod List: Fallout3.esm Anchorage.esm ThePitt.esm BrokenSteel.esm PointLookout.esm Zeta.esm Total active plugins: 6 Total plugins: 6 Problem: Yet another Freeze! I'm guessing it's either DLC or HWThreads. note that I didnt use ANY kind of tweak. I will be trying out the HWThreads tweak! Update After playing 31minutes with Fallout 1.07 All DLC with the iHWThreads Fix I didn't encounter any single PROBLEMS! This does indicate the problems lie in mod configuration and blablablabla but I was able to find my problems. Thanks you for helping me isolating the problem. now I need to find a way to install a good overhaul. (FWE, WMK & EVE and others) I will backup my ini's and this fallout catogory and do a hand by hand installation unless you got some intresseting mod configurations or link to installations! *Kudos awarded for staying with me all the time* -
Fallout 3 CTD Windows 7 x64 Problem
Ainene replied to Ainene's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Unbalanced? What does that mean: more difficult or more crash prone? I meant that the game freezes more Well mate, the reason why I asked here was because I didnt find the clue what the problem is. and not because i'm new to computers nor windows. I'm quite experinced with computers n know how a clean uninstall is. that is entire wipe of Main Directory, Register & Additional Supporting Directories such as Profiles, AppData, Plugin & Uninstall information. What I meant was that I was gonna save my load order list. then just delete my "Fallout 3" Folder, Rename "Fallout 3 - Backup" to "Fallout 3" then try to play that and see if problems exists if there exists I do a clean uninstall and delete "Profile (Thou Saving Save Games in rar), AppData (If there is such, don't believe it thou) and Main Folder"
