  1. Actually, just getting rid of the HD clothing textures seems to have solved it well enough. I mean, there's still the occasional crash, but it's stuff that I'm either not surprised about (I have two mods that do things when you're close to death, and they get confused sometimes and crash), or, well, Skyrim happens. Hopefully that was enough. Thanks again for all your help, everyone.
  2. Hey, it's not like my rig is *cheap*, exactly! This is a thousand dollar laptop I'm on! That said, part of this is that I'm now trying all these graphical enhancement mods. If I got rid of all of them, I'd probably be just fine, much like I am on my old laptop. O fcourse, on my old laptop, I played on low graphical settings and without any kind of lighting, texture, or graphical modifications. I figured it looked pretty enough. And it *did*, but...well, not in comparison to how this s#*! looks on Ultra with all these enhancements! :P
  3. Alrighty. I can probably get rid of honored dead without any upset, and a few other mods like that besides.
  4. Yeah, I do see tha tyou have a good fifty less mods than I do. I am looking to see what I can get rid of. It's just not gonna be (most of) the SexLab mods or SkyRe. I like SkyRe way too much. Is it any mods at all that will help? Or do mods like The Honored Dead (which litters the world with the aftermath of civil war battles, I.E. corpses and what not) not do anything to the parts that are causing Skyrim to drag?
  5. Yeah, nope! SkyRe is totally a vital mod. I know the sexlab mods are script heavy, some of them anyway. I go back and forth about those, but I'm honestly more likely to give up supreme storms and climates of tamriel than I am to give up any of those. I do grant that this means I'll have crashes more often. I can deal with the occasional crash. It's when it's happening every five minutes that it gets annoying. Removing the HD clothing textures has helped somewhat, as well, though.
  6. Getting rid of the HD clothing textures makes me sad, but is doable. I would totally be willing to get rid of Enhanced Lighting and FX, except for one thing. It makes doing stealth stuff actually doable for me. SkyRe makes stealth much more difficult, but it also makes sticking to the shadows much more useful. ELFX actually makes there be a lot of shadows you can stick to :P
  7. So, I got rid of the dirty files (or installed them in the proper order and then checked to see if they were still dirty and they weren't), did the tweaks suggested, and while it took longer, it still happened. Guess I'll get rid of some of the graphical mods, then. Dammit. There I was being super happy about having 16 gigs of RAM and a high end of mid-range NVidia card. I mean, I don't really care about 60 FPS, I'm perfectly happy playing with 30 or even 20 (I know this because I've done so for quite some time). The crashes, however. Those really interrupt gameplay.
  8. Alright. So between Legacy of the Dragonborn, and the Skyrim Redone Immersive Weapons patches, something's not getting installed in the right order and is screwing everything up. Dammit. Gotta figure out how to make all that work. Though, all that said, I don't have these problems on my old laptop. I mean, it occasionally CTDs because Skyrim, but this is the first time I've ever had the "black screen after loading" problem. And I had all the same mods on that system. The only difference is on this system, I have a bunch of HD textures and weather mods and such. My old laptop was an i7 3rd gen with 8 gigs of RAM, and an IntelHD 4400 integrated graphics chip (so you can understand why I don't just play Skyrim on that computer :P). Could it possibly be the textures/weather mods?
  9. Nice. But, seriously. Is installation order a thing? Or is that just something my brain is telling me because I've transcended the very concept of tired and am now one with the eternal cosmic energy of all things living and thus have moved beyond the mortal concept of "sleep"?
  10. Okay, as I read through freaking everything, it looks like some of the problems may be caused by not having installed the mods in the right order first. Le sigh. This means I'm going to have to start another new game. And I was genuinely having fun with this one. Frowny face. ...Or would that actually matter? I genuinely have no idea. Wouldn't load order take care of any overwrite problems?
  11. Yeah, I actually really dislike adventuring in the Reach for that exact reason. For all Ulfric's talk about "the land belonging to the Nords" and such, the simple fact is that the Nords stole that land from the Dwemmer and the Forsworn in the first place. So I feel absolutely no qualms about going "Nope, sorry! You get to pay taxes to the Empire!" And hey, it's not like the US is any better with its treatment of Indigenous People, so there's that, too. One thing we can both agree on, however, is f*** the Thalmor.
  12. Wll, I figured out the DBM IWIA patch problem. I did this thing where the mod author said "here's three patches, depending on whether you use IW, IA, or both. Only use one!" and then I was very clever and just downloaded via NMM and clicked install without paying any attention. So, that's fixed now! :P
  13. I use SkyRe, specifically because it gives me the feeling of useful followers. And I've never used Deadly Dragons *specifcally* for that reason. Also, while the Thalmor are horrible to their core, you *did* read the Thalmor files on Ulfric Stormcloak, right? I'll take the devil you know over the guy trying to upset the entire political and economic infrastructure as a petty power grab (though I do acknowledge that he's not a traitor, because he followed custom. He's a rebel. And he's wrong. But he didn't betray anyone). ...That said, any time I see some Thalmor marching along the road, I totally slaughter them. I also assassinate the Thalmor in Markarth. I mean, the Empire's going to have to rise up against them anyway, I might as well help them along.
  14. I've tried Breezehome Fully Upgradable. It's a great mod, but it doesn't have an add on for the multi-adoption mod. And I can't just adopt *two* children. I *need* six of them. I MUST COLLECT ALL THE CHILDREN! ...*AHEM* I mean, I prefer house mods that let me use the "adopt six children" mod. Yes. And yeah, I can't imagine playing the Civil War without CWO. The mod does have a few bugs for me that I'm sure are me and not the mod (example: after the battle of Whiterun, the drawbridge refuses to lower back down even though I've won when I'm on the Imperial side, and I have to push the Murder Mayhem scores way up or the hold battles wind up being, like, seven soldiers and then it's over). However, those are pretty much nothing compared to how much the mods add. I'm only sort of okay with Dragon Combat Overhaul. I like a lot of the ideas, but I'm really glad it has an MCM because the random "HEY MOTHER F***ER HERE'S THREE DRAGONS BECAUSE F*** YOU!" can go die in a fire :P
  15. Hmm. I wonder if I just have really outdated SkyRe patches for Immersive Weapons and Immersive Armors, and CCOR? That might explain why there's all those problems. BHTNFX is a Breezehome house mod. So, yeah, it sort of gets rid of everything in Breezehome and then, I dunno, replaces it? Though I suppose that might also explain why simply trying to enter Breezehome causes a CTD about half the time. Though that happened with Vanilla skyrim, too, so who knows? And some of those dirty edits are from ApolloDown mods, and that particular modder is incredibly clear that they left those in on purpose in order to make things work and they should not be touched every not by anyone and especially not by someone who doesn't know what the hell theyr'e doing (i.e., me :P) Anyway. Thanks again for all your help. I'll see about updating those patches maybe, or make sure I have the *right* patches and not some outdated patches that I grabbed cause I wasn't paying nearly enough attention. I'm sure you know how that can happen, what with the same chemical imbalance I have
