  1. The deed, it is done .....

Three Dog lost the Good Fight.

A glorious feeling to finally silence that loud, pretentious racial stereotype safe in his building while posing as a do-gooder helping the wasteland.

The Knights outside put up a fight at least. And the ones in the Foyer.

Yet did the Dawg have a word to say about the person who killed everyone in his building and nuked the Citadel?

    Nope. Wasn't even hostile.

When attacked, he runs away. No surprise then that he cowers away from the world in the GNR building. Good riddance ....

EDIT: I might as well show off my original male character too.

    Alexander, level 30 Messiah.

Has done basically everything the game has to offer. Where there were 2 choices, he did the opposite of my female character, ie nuked megaton, bombed the mobile base crawler, etc.

    Alexander:

Has gone through loads of companions: Clover, Charon, Fawkes, Cross, Lucy West, Sydney.

  2. Try making a clean save. Disable your mod that involves lucas simms. Start up and load game, save the game, exit. Re-enable the quest mod that involves him, load save game and test the game (resurrect him).

Yes, that's what I was going to suggest.

The resurrect command works strangely. For example, Charon died for me once outside the Citadel. I resurrected him, but found that his inventory had been reset to default.

His AI also behaved as if he was still standing in the 9th Circle before I hired him (Talk. To. Ahzrukhal.)

What resurrect does is it resets the NPC as well as the NPC's status in a particluar quest. So, the fact that you have resurrected Simms AFTER installing your mod means he isn't working properly.

Resurrect Simms, talk to him to see if he still gives you his spiel welcoming you to Megaton or whatever, save, install the mod and see what happens then ....

  3. "Right"?

Might makes right. A government is a group with a monopoly over the use of "legitimate" force within a given territory.

What is within that groups power to effect, it will effect.

Therefore, the death penalty is "right" and the government is within it's "rights" if it says so and gets away with it.

It's the way the world works, kids ....

  4. My point was that as it stands there is only positive kudos. A member could be a complete fool, yet still have some kudos despite that.

Ideally, the format should be either no kudos/rep system whatsoever or negative/positive allowed.

I speak from experience as being a mod and an admin on philosophy forums ...

Cliques can form that go around thumbing up each others comments, leading to members with abnormally high rep to contribution ratio. A facility allowing negative reps to be given counterbalances this behaviour.

  5. From the above link:

    Other bugs

It's common for Vista users and some XP users to be unable to access the Console. Following are some possible causes & solutions:

"Infrared Device" drivers interfere with the "Tilde" (~) key being able to access the Console, so must be disable/uninstalled.

Here's a direct quote from Bethesda Softworks Technical Support: "If you have a new system with the Microsoft eHome devices, these will conflict with the program being able to read the scan code for the tilde key from the keyboard. Those Microsoft eHome devices or drivers need to be disabled in order to allow the game to "see" the tilde key being pressed. The MIRC (Microsoft Infrared Remote Control) seems to disable the tilde (~) key in both Oblivion and Morrowind. Simply disconnecting the MIRC from the USB port will fix this issue."

To Unistall/ Disable the conflicting device(s), try the following steps:

Open up the "Start" menu, go into "Control Panel" > "System and Maintenance" > "Device Manager". Click "Human Interface Devices". If you see "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver", right-click and uninstall it. If not, then locate the driver with the word "Infrared" in it's name elsewhere in the Device Manager and uninstall. Unfortunately, when you turn-off and then restart your pc, it will automatically reinstall the driver. As a result, you'll have to repeat the uninstall procedure whenever you go to play and wish to have access to the Console.

    -or-

[Temp Fix] Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > uninstall Infrared driver (don't ask me why but this driver interferes).

If using a controller, you have to switch back to mouse/keyboard control to get the console, switching to mouse/keyboard control will occasionally crash the game to desktop, so save before you try, just in case. (Tested with 360 controller on Vista 32)[Works also on Vista x64 with xbox 360 controler]

It has been reported that the console will not work with some Vista 32 and 64 bit systems with NO fix. Those people can only hope for a mod that solves this (example - the ring of console in Oblivion).

For Vista 32 and 64 bit http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1711 its a mod for the Console and works

HOWEVER, try this, before giving up and using the ring of console.

This editor has no infrared device drivers, and tried this. It worked.

Open regedit (Go into Command Prompt and type in regedit... this will open a new window.)

    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters

There should be an entry named OverrideKeyboardSubtype with a type of REG_DWORD and a value of 2. Set the value to 0 and reboot.

now, uninstalling the IR drivers in the device manager (if you have them) will work to enable the console to come up.

if you don't have any IR drivers, then just doing the reg change should fix it for you.

[edit] You should try this first:

Tested and working method under Vista and Windows 7:

    http://www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.as...p;titleID=14053

This will work not only for Fallout 3, but all other games that use the "~" for console, AND lets you use your MS remote.

    -Seconded

This was an insta-fix for any laptop w/ a built-in detacheable remote. It also has less technical gobble-degook than registry entry edits, (and their eventual complications), and isn't nearly as sketchy as uninstalling and reinstalling the device/driver. A+ perma-fix for media centre comps/laptops.

    [edit] Ring of Console fix

Follow the steps on the page to help activate the console. The page can be found at here.

You must have the original ring of console as well.

NOTE: This is only for users who CAN NOT under any circumstance open the console. Please try other solutions before resorting to this option, you might save yourself some time. This mod is in a beta, so use at your own risk.

This mod works in the same way as the Ring of Console, and the item is gained after you escape from the vault.

    [edit] Console Key Binder fix

An easier alternative to the Ring of Console fix would be the Console Key Binder mod, removing the hassle of equipping/unequipping an item. The file can be found here.

This mod allows you to bind another key to open the console (default is F4) which is very useful if your tilde key does not work. Take note, however, that this mod requires Fallout Script Extender (FOSE). FOSE can be found here.

    [edit] Microsoft eHome remote/receiver

If you use the Microsoft eHome remote/receiver (official media centre remote and USB receiver) you'll notice under your device manager you have a new device named Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard; this is the cause of the tilde key not working. It also affects your plus, minus, parenthesis, hash, @, and slash keys remapping them to different functions. (some are even Kanji characters)

NOTE: Many "ITECIR" (infrared) drivers under the device manager also cause the same issue.

Solution is as follows and will not affect the functionality of your Media Centre remote:

    1. Go into Device Manager -> Keyboards.

    2. Right-click "Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard", choose "Update Driver" ("Update Driver Software" on Vista).

    3. Choose "Browse my computer for software" (XP users tell it not to install automatically and say you'll specify the location, then when it asks you where you would like it to search for drivers choose the option to choose from a list) then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

    4. Make sure "show compatible hardware" is checked, then select "HID-compliant device" and click next. Click any remaining "OK" or "Finish" buttons after Windows has installed the driver.

    [edit] AutoHotKey Fix

AutoHotkey is a free, open-source utility for Windows, used to remap keyboard or mouse buttons. If your "Tilde" (~) key isn't recognized in Fallout 3, one fix is to install AutoHotKey, and in the script used by the program, assign the "~" to another key. For example, to turn "F12" into a "~", use the line:

    F12::~

Now "F12" will be recognized as the command line button.

Sounds like Vista is you're problem ...... as is ever the case .... Stupid Vista ....

  6. FOSE has full compatibility with FOMM. When you open FOMM and have FOSE installed, the option will change to "Launch FOSE" instead of "Launch Fallout".

FOOK is a weapon mod, as far as I am aware. I don't use it. I think it adds various add-ons and customizations to existiong weapons as well as various new weapons ... The description on the mod page is not particularily helpful in this regard ...

  7. There should be a "subtract kudos" or thumbs down option for certain members. Would be useful for trolls; if you see a questionable post, you can just glance below their avatar to see their reputation.

Currently, you can only give positive points to reputation, which is skewed.

  8. If the radio signal which leads to the quest doesn't appear, use the "setstage" console command and set the queststage to "10". Example: setstage xx00108c 10 - the first 2 digits "xx" depend on your installed mods: see here.

    From this page: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Into_The_Pitt

Scroll down to the "Bugs" section

In your case xx would be 02, I presume. If not, open console, click on Wernher and note the first 2 digits of his ID.

  9. You shouldn't drag and drop. That way files may end up in the wrong place. E.G. you might accidentally drop the Data folder into another, incorrect, folder.

I find it is best to Copy then Paste into the correct directory. E.G. copy a mods Meshes folder and Paste it into your Fallout3/Data folder.

If you want to uninstall you can keep the mods original folder on your desktop for reference ...

  10. Project Beauty is something I've been using from the start.

What it does is improve the faces of various NPCs, but not in a "pretty" way. The raiders in particular look more vicious and brutal. Highly recommended.

HK USP pistols adds 2 pistols, one suppressed, which are more powerful than the 10 mm but not by much. I installed it and quit using it because I preferred the power of my tri-beam.

    Looks excellent though.

Tailor Maid adds lots of clothing and alters existing outfits (non-replacing, just adds altered versions in various boxes), some of which I used you can check out in my post in the Fallout Character thread. Very good.

MMM of course; Deathclaw Matriarchs, Gargantuans and Night Ghouls with their glowing eyes are things which should have been in the base game. Night Ghoul Eyes are also consumables which give you temporary night vision. This mod also has lots of plugins which allow you to increase spawns and make the game more of a challenge ...

Note - you might want to steer clear of super mutant areas while using this as it tends to spawn behemoths as regular enemies; I myself encountered 2 behemoths at once near Rockbreakers Last Gas at a low level and had to run. Gargantuans too are difficult at a low level.

If you are looking for quest mods, then CUBE Experimental is absolutely excellent and almost a game in its own right. Very reminiscent of Half-Life 2 and Portal.

Firefly Ranch is another, a very scary quest which rewards you with a luxurious house vault upon completion. Usually I uninstall after completion, this I kept.

Devoured in Darkness, about being captured by a cannibal and enduring drug-induced hallucinations; the logic of some of the puzzles is questionable, but it is still enjoyable nonetheless.

    Stealth suit wise:

    Reinforced Chinese Stealth suit.

    Chinese Stealth Suit Feminized.

US UK RU Stealth Armors (non-replacing) - this allows you to equip camo-patterned stealth suits with or without the helmet. Gaijunes helmetless stealth suit was the basis.

    Power Armour wise:

Coyote Reflex Power Armour (I wouldn't recommend this myself, but it is flashy and popular, so check it out).

Japanese Power Armour (buggy, but beautiful).

Pipboy Readius, removes the pipboy in 3rd person and replaces it with a hand-held thingy in 1st person. Looks cool.

Bravo Mod - replaces a male PC's voice with that of Johnny Bravo. Funny.

Female Voice Replacer - excessively feminine. You may find yourself getting distracted by dishonourable thoughts during a firefight ..... The moans and cries are ...... suggestive. ;)

Enclave Commander - does what it says on the tin.

Unique Dogmeat - allows you to change dogmeats texture while not effecting all other dogs in the game. ATM, only german shepard.

Dogmeat Leather Armour also increases his durability a little.

Sydney Follower - converts Sydney who you meet during the Stealing Independence quest into a full companion. Hands down the best companion mod on nexus. Mostly because Sydney has ten times the character and personality of any of the default companions.

Sprint Mod - allows you to sprint while consuming AP. The higher your Agility, the faster you go. Simply and highly satisfying mod. Use it all the time.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. Hope you get something of use out of it ....

  11. There's always the possibility of going outside .... perhaps with friends ....

However "out there" that concept might be ...

I must have joined dozens of forums. They're all, ultimately, a waste of time in the social sense. Useful for exchange of ideas and such, and in this case game info, but not very satisfying outside of that.
