Thanks for all the knowledge. I already went and rebuilt my whole game, but ill keep what you said in mind for the next time. And for me at least, there is always a next time. I love wrye bash, but I am sure it does way way more than what I know how to do with it. =) My main issue now is I really want both COBL and my mod, but there is something there that isn't working well together. I don't understand enough about dirty mods yet to fix this. I would be more than fine at you looking at the mod if you don't mind. I put it up at rapid share, I can message you with the link, if thats ok. thx
-
David: I uploaded the shop mod to rapidshare so you could take a look at it. Myrmaad: Thanks for the tip. The shop doesn't have any dependencies. In other news, I have managed to rebuild my game back to the way it was before I installed COBL, thank goodness for backups. It still took me the better part of a day, as my backup was about 6 weeks old. Much better than starting from scratch tho. I am not reinstalling COBL or the shop, until I can figure out what the conflict is between them. The shop mod must do something to woodelves that I didn't realize I was doing. I can see something in TES4edit, but I have no clue what it means or how to fix it. Anyone who knows how to work TES4edit better than I, and wants to walk me through fixing it, I'd be grateful.

getting weirder by the minute. I have a friend who I sent a copy of the esp to a few weeks ago. the one he has is pretty close to the version I have. I have made a few tweaks to it since then, but nothing major. He just came online so I had him run a test for me. He does not have COBL. He can deactivate the shop with no problems. so confused.
-
Im just getting deeper and deeper here, and nothing makes sense. I can't see anything in the shop that should cause this. And it doesn't make sense that COBL is causing this. With COBL and the shop both active, Im level 10. Without COBL but with the shop, Im level 10. If I deactivate the shop, either with or without COBL, I am level 6. I went back to saves from way before I made the shop, and I still lose levels if the shop is not activated. The shop has always been last in my load order.
-
I dont know if this helps explain what is happening or not. I deactive COBL and the bash patch, with the shop esp active, and it loads fine. Im lvl 10. I deactivate COBL, the bash patch and the shop, and I crash to desktop immediately. so, with COBL and the shop, Im lvl 10. With COBL and no shop, Im lvl 6. With No COBL and no shop, I crash and can't load the game. IDK this confuses me more than ever.

Thanks for the response. I installed the tes4edit. A few things came up, but nothing that looks like it would cause this. There are green highlighted items and yellow highlighted. And most of them, I intended to do (path grid changes). I am going to try your second suggestion and deactivate COBL and see what happens. I know COBL made some changes to my attributes. But I was lvl 10 before I installed it. and level 10 after I installed it. Ill post back after I try this experiment. Edit: Ok maybe im not... I installed cobl as an omod... and when i deactivate it in OBMM i crash to desktop before the logo screen loads... Is there a better way to deactivate it?

Just when I think I am beginning to understand how all this works, something really weird happens. I have been tinkering around with making a mod. Its a simple shop, just outside of chorrol. 3 NPCs. Nothing too fancy. Its only dependency is the oblivion esm (shivering isles). I loaded it into my game a while back, last thing on my load list. It is nowhere near finished but it seemed to work fine. Then I played the game for a while. And noticed some erratic behavior in the NPCs (they keep turning up inside gates I am closing). So I went back into construction set and made a few changes in their AI Packages to see if that would help. I thought i should start with a clean save, so i deactivated the mod, and went into the game. Immediately I get a pop up saying I've made lvl 6. Which is very strange, I am currently lvl 10 on this save with the shop mod active. I am sooooo confused. How could deactivating a mod that has nothing to do with lvls at all, do this? I have tried it several times. mod activated, lvl 10. Mod deactivated, lvl 6. It doesn't change any of my skill levels, but the attributes change alot. some go up, others go down. I have made some changes to the mods running in my game from when I first activated the shop, the biggest being installing COBL which made some changes to lvling. This makes no sense to me. There is nothing in the shop mod that should effect my player's lvls. help. please.

I had this happen to me when I imported a whole new face for him. There was a problem with the race and the head style. I don't remember exactly, and I can look it more later, after work. In the meantime, what happens if you take out the face update and just use the original files and esp?

Ok, I deactivated EVERY mod that affects appearance in anyway, copied the tff files back into my data file, looked at the FemaleUpperBody again in nifscope. yep, that is the tff body. Run the game, still vanilla. I really really do not want to have to reinstall oblivion. What is left to try? I am getting very frustrated. Rhiana Edit: ok, looking at OBMM and thinking back, I made the tff into an omod when i installed it. Should i try undoing that? Would the copying over of the body nifs have somehow broken it? Edit 2: getting really really frustrated here: I deactivated the omods. still vanilla. I deleted the omods. still vanilla. i re-copied and re-pasted all the tff files again. still vanilla. and through it all nifscope still shows the nif at data/meshes/characters/_male/FemaleUpperBody as the tff body. i have stripped my game down, and I don't know what is left to try except reinstalling. Someone please help me.

Need help with a mod - Eye Candy Compilation
Rhiana replied to Kahnadah's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Double checking, you have installed the official game patch? From what I read on the mod page, from the mirror site it came in three files, an esm, an esp, and a bsa. Am I reading that right? and you have all three of these in your oblivion/data file? In the game menu, the files you have listed all have check marks? Does the read me specify a load order? you only have 2 esps listed on your load order, so you might try putting EXNEMEyecandy above the compilation esp and see if that helps. -
I know that bumping your question is frowned upon, but I am out of ideas and its been a couple days. The tff body was working before I installed this last mod, I copied the orignal nif over top of the current one to double check that it was right, and it shows up in nifscope, which really confuses me. Any ideas? please.

Need help with a mod - Eye Candy Compilation
Rhiana replied to Kahnadah's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Have you installed the official patch? That is required for this mod. I don't have this one, but going from the description, there were 6 rar files to download, and a particular order to unpack them. Did this go smoothly, and you read and followed the instructions in the read me? you said the majority of the mods you have downloaded don't work? which mods do you have? It might be better to clean up those before installing more. a load list would be helpful if you are running anything more than the 1 body mod you mentioned. -
I checked the file path from the tff download. I have the body meshes right where it says: meshes/characters/_male/FemaleUpperBody.nif ditto for the FemaleLowerBody and the textures are right where nifscope points too. with the matching _n.dds files. I just don't understand why the game is pulling in the vanilla body instead of the one in my data file. Confused. Rhiana

Im also just starting and not really a modder, but... here is a page that lists usefull tools/utilities: http://cs.bethsoft.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Tools I use nifscope alot. Also, Paint.net isn't on this list, but its free and can do dds files. I think I got that from cnet (downloads.com). I don't have vista, but it seems that what i have heard is NOT to install oblivion into program files directory if you are gonna mod. use mygames or someother directory. And that if you have to uninstall it to move it somewhere else, there is a process for that, or else things go badly. There are forum posts around here you can search for that talk about the vista thing...

I am on my 3rd or fourth body mod, trying to get the perfect fit. I started with exnems and sickleyield. then I saw the bab's clothes and switched to that. But i didn't like the body as well as i thought i would, and switched to TFF, which was working fine... til i saw a mod that said i could use my tff body AND the babs clothes. So I put that in. When I look at the body mesh in nifscope it is the tff body. When I go into the game, its vanilla body. This is the last thing i added: UFF BAB conversion : http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18212 Im running the latest version with all the patches etc. using wrye, OBMM, BOSS, OBSE. So of course, the question is, why if i look in my meshes and view my upper and lower body nifs in nifscope, I see the TFF body, but in game I see the vanilla body? I know this post is really long, but I was hoping to give as much info as possible so that I might get an answer instead of just "what are you using" questions in response. =) Thanks, Rhiana

the basic information to post is: What operating system are you using Which version of oblivion. Do you have SI. Have you installed the official patch. The load order of your mods. Do you have OBSE and which version Are you using OBMM or wrye bash That should give people a starting point to help figure out the problem.
-
Checking to make sure I understand, the game is running fine now, except in OBMM 2 mods OOO and Archfall house are either red or black? Did you install these 2 with omods? If you right click on them and do the error check, what shows up? When I have had this issue, the error check came up with a whole list of mesh/textures files warnings that said the files already exist. If you override this and activate it anyway, a warning will pop up asking if you want to overwrite the files, with yes, yes to all or no as option. I went ahead and overwrote them and the mods then worked just fine. It seems to be just a another part of OBMM having had an error when it shut down, and it sees the files, but has forgotten they were associated with those mods. If you overwrite them it restores that association and everything works fine again. tip: if you decide to do this, say yes to all, or you will be clicking yes hundreds of times.
-
Dont panic, I had this happen to my OBMM too. It must have hit an error or shut down incorrectly. On the right side of OBMM there is a help button, which opens up a guide. In there is a FAQ and #15 deals with exactly this. Follow those instructions and it should fix it. It only takes a minute and it easy. =)

I read somewhere on here that windows 7 has some of the same issues that vista has, so you might want to look around for those tips. I don't have either, so I just vaguely remember cautions about not installing it in Programs.

myrmaad is right, based on the underwear those look like vanilla meshes. When you installed and uninstalled all these body mods were you using omods or doing it manually? If it were me (and someone may come along with a much easier/better fix) this is what i would do at this point. You have disabled you body mod at this point anyway, so I would go through the meshes and textures files and remove any of the nifs/.dds from those. The file structure for that is something like meshes/characters/_male and textures/characters. The body mods I have seen use the footfemale.dds for skin on the legs, so you may not find any textures to remove. Pick one female body to start over with first. Make/use an omod for that one if possible. The Desuchan's you listed requires EITHER HGEC or Exnems. Pick one. Desuchans shows it is already in omod form if you need to reinstall that. After you have re-installed that go in and look at their legs and see if they still have problems. If they look ok, you can move on reinstalling other things you have taken out. If they still have the problem, come back here maybe someone else will have a better idea. Good luck. Edit. I process and type way too slow. sounds like you got it fixed. =)

wow, nipples on your thighs, nice. I am not a modder, but if a had to guess it looks like something put your torso textures on the legs. funny. what body mod are you using?
-
I do my load order the way you said. One additional thing i do, is after I have manually ordered the mods BOSS didn't know what to do with, is to go into the BOSS Master list and insert those mods in the right place so that the next time I use BOSS it knows where to put them. Saves having to keep manually reordering them when i add a new mod.
-
What version of oblivion are you running? (this shows in lower left when you load the game) What version of the construction set are you using?
-
The construction set wiki is the place to start for just about anything. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_Page good luck.
