I'm using Vortex 1.8.3 I'm modding a fully updated Skyrim Anniversary Edition from Steam v1.6.640. The problem is that I'm using Arthmoor's mod "The Paarthurnax Dilemma" which I downloaded the most updated version of from his site and it is pointing instead to mod 70849 which is a mod that is hidden by the author, FallenOne. Actually, I've tried using the old one from Nexus just to see if it makes a difference. It does not. Vortex believes that The Paarthurnax Dilemma mod by Arthmoor is this other hidden mod by FallenOne. Also a suggestion: Would it be possible to give users the ability to create a nickname for mods with odd file names so that we could more easily organize them? If such a feature already exists can you please point me to how to use it? Thank you for your time.

Tab Key Not Calling up PipBoy
CyrusFyre replied to Rdmay53's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Is this the only game this is happening in? I ask because my husband's keyboard has a setting that disables certain keys when activated and he sometimes accidentally activates that setting. (Usually with the cord on his headset when he takes them off.) It's a Logitech keyboard. Also are you playing on Steam, GOG, Disc or where? If Steam or GOG you might try validating or verifying your files to make sure everything is good. -
Hi. I'm having an issue with Fallout 3. For over 33 hours I've had almost no issues. Two crashes, which verifying the files fixed and two just odd Fallout 3 behaviors which quitting and loading resolved. It's the smoothest playthrough I've ever had. Until now. I just acquired the Declaration of Independence and Sydney, Dogmeat and I are walking to the Museum of History to sell loot, resupply and take the tunnels to Rivet City. When I first exited the National Archives it appeared as if the textures weren't loading correctly, so I just quit and restarted the game and reloaded my save and it did it again so I tried once more and it seemed fine. Now whenever I get close to the Museum the game either freezes and crashes or turns sort of blackish and crashes. I tried fast travelling to the museum and that worked but then I walked back the way I came and it crashed or turned blackish again. I'm honestly not using as many mods as I often do because I wanted a bit more stability. I do not have any texture replacers although I am using Type 3 and Breeze's for males and the appropriate clothes modifications. I have the GOG GOTY edition of the game. I am using Stewie Tweaks, OneTweak, NVAC, FOSE, the Fallout Anniversary Patcher, Command Extender, Ogg Vorbis Libraries, F3HR and F3VO. I have Antialiasing turned off, Anisotropic filtering is 15, I play in windowed mode, V-sync is on, it is set to HDR, Transparency Multisampling is off, everything else is on the highest setting. My graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 1080 Ti Founders Edition and I have an Intel Core i7-7700k CPU and 32 GB of RAM. I run on Windows 10. I have tried deleting the Fallout 3 and Broken Steel files and verifying and redownloading them, reapplying the Anniversary Patch to a newly downloaded .exe, disabling all of the Sydney plugins (the main one, the JIP one and the Load Order Fix which is the one designed to work with the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch), sifting through the mods I have in FO3Edit (but I honestly don't know what exactly I'm looking for). I've turned on Debugging in the Weather mod but it isn't reporting a problem. I really am not sure what to do. There are a bunch of dead super mutants all over the ground between me and my goal so it might be a respawning issue. It might be a graphics setting issue. It might be that I'm using a mod that affects this. Oddly I've travelled through here two or three times before without issue. Only now am I having trouble. This is my load order: I've also included some images of what it looks like when it happens. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very appreciative. Graphics settings I could try, stability mods or uses that I'm not using or that are better than what I'm using, or maybe which mod or mod combination might be causing this or some tips or advise on what to look for in FO3Edit would all be very welcome. Thank you. UPDATE: It seems to be Sydney that is the problem. Using coc to get to the Museum of History and then quickly taking the tunnels and carefully but quickly making my way to Abraham Washington I managed to turn in the quest. (This took a lot of saving and loading but I made it.) I made another save and then recruited Sydney as a true follower. It still happened as I left Rivet City and headed into the wastes. I quit and then loaded my save but dismissed her to Megaton and it happened less as I left Rivet City and as she left for her walk to Megaton. I was even able to go back to the Museum of History with Dogmeat and wander wherever I wanted to go with absolutely no issues. So, I quit and loaded and instead opted not to recruit her. I've no trouble at all since then. So, I believe that it is her. I just don't know why. These are the mods I'm using that affect her: Sydney Follower VegasStephen's Scrub Hub Sydney Follower UUF3P Compatibility Patch JIP Companions Command and Control They were installed in that order. I have not added or removed any mods since I started this game for stability reasons. At least until I started trying to figure this out. (The saves I'm using are the ones with all the mods still installed since removing them either had no effect or made it worse. Also, I always make a new save, never quicksave and disable autosaves.) I've tried removing JIP alone (crashes immediately). I've tried removing the UUF3P patch (becomes even more unstable if you can imagine). I tried removing the scrubbed esp (same as the UUF3P patch being removed). I've tried removing all of them (instantly crashes or she's in her underwear and then it crashes after a few seconds). I looked in FO3Edit but I don't see any game breaking conflicts but maybe I missed something. This is very disappointing because Sydney is probably my favorite follower mod so I'd love to figure this out. In the meantime, she's just going to have to spend her days drinking herself into a stupor in Underworld. I do hope someone can help me out. Again Thanks. UPDATE 2: Apparently it is not exclusively Sydney that causes issues. It is any follower except for Dogmeat. I went on and continued without Sydney and haven't had any more issues until I was trying to escort Red and Shorty back to Big Town. Suddenly the game has become incredibly unstable and crashes constantly. No weird blackishness just straight up crashing. I escorted Cherry to Rivet City and it only crashed once and I didn't think much of it because it's Fallout 3 and I was skirting the DC ruins and the game is always a bit unstable there. Oddly I didn't have much issue with her (which I did her escort before meeting Sydney) but Sydney, Shorty, and Red are a serious problem. I don't know.

Crashing in Goodsprings
CyrusFyre replied to CyrusFyre's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Kept working at it and I think I figured out what was going on. Upon closer inspection it seemed that none of my outdoor saves were working, not just in Goodsprings. But they were all near Goodsprings, so I wasn't sure if that was a factor. So, after trying to remove anything that affected Goodsprings specifically and failing to get good results I decided to start looking at texture mods. After removing my texture packs, I was able to load the game, but the textures looked really off and then suddenly the game crashed again. From that I extrapolated that it was having trouble rendering the textures. I reinstalled the textures and began looking at my graphics settings. Apparently, the setting on my graphics had been reset to having AA on 4 instead of off. I also noticed that it was no longer using the FNV 4GB patcher replaced .exe so I reapplied that as well. Then I tried and (so far, knock on wood) it seems to have solved my problem. I'm just posting this so that I'm not one of those "fixed it, no need to explain" types. Maybe this will help someone else. -
I am having an issue where I am crashing in Goodsprings. If start a new game everything is fine until I try to leave Doc Mitchel's house, then it crashes while loading. If I try to load a save in Goodsprings it crashes and if I try to load a save in an interior in Goodsprings it is fine until I try to leave and then it crashes. Always on load. I use Vortex, and Archive Invalidate Invalidated. Here is my load order: I used this as a guide when selecting some of my mods. I've tried disabling Nevada Skies, the Goodsprings buildings and the Braham and even an animated bush I had and none of that worked. I've tried using FNVEdit to look for conflicts, but I didn't see anything glaring about this area or worldspace. I have Windows 10 and use all of the usual help make the game more stable mods (Johnny Guitar, Stewie Tweaks, etc). Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I've been trying to create a patch for Vilja in Skyrim that changes her hair to Apachii's hair 87. I wanted the patch to rely on both mods as masters. This is what I've tried. 1) I use a clean skyrim se installation of only Vilja, Apachii Female Hairs 1.5, USSEP and Alternate Start (for testing purposes). 2) I use Wrye Bash to Emsify Vilja. 3) Load Skyrim, Update, Vilja and Apachii into the ck with no active file. 4) Change Vilja's hairstyle to that of Apachii hair 87. Close the window. Then in the list of NPC's I select Vilja and press ctrl+F4 to export head data. 5) Save the plug-in as Vilja_ApachiiSkyhair_87.esp. 7) I use Wrye Bash to Espify Vilja. 8) Activate the new plug-in Vortex and launch Skryim. I start a new game, quickly get through character generator and start a new life in the Bannered Mare. Vilja is there with her new hairstyle but her face doesn't quite match her body. To check for certain I go through her prologue quest to the point where I change her clothes. It looks off on her dress, her armour and her underwear. She only have vanilla textures and meshes at this point. 9) I try using CC's Vilja Customizer to give her CBBE body and face textures. I load up the game and start a new one, again, then recruit Vilja, do her prologue quest and as soon as I can get her to undress (without CBBE actually installed no armours will look quite right on her but her underwear should) but it appears as if she is wearing a different head on her body. The textures don't match up just as it had done without the mod. If I try skipping the ctrl+F4 step I get the black face bug but with it I get the strangely unmatched bug. I have also tried repeating the steps but doing so with CC's Customizer installed before exporting the head data. I've also tried installing Vilja as loose files and the same. I've tried installing Vilja as loose files and then installing CC's Customizer over them and the same results. I've changed the hair style I'm using. I've changed the hair model Vilja is using as default to the Apachii 87 model rather than just changing the character's hairstyle specifically and it is the same. I've even tried to change the Vilja mod itself (I have a backup) and no joy. I'm not sure what to do here. I know it can be done, others have done it. I also know it is hard and I suspect that's why only a few have done it. I'm obviously doing something wrong but I just don't know what. I'm out of my field here, in a big way. I'm used to working with armour and clothing. People, not so much. I've tried looking for tutorials but I can't seem to find any that address this particular issue. They all say to load it, make the change, export the head data, don't forget to save and enjoy your mod, more or less. If I've missed something (which I clearly have) or if there is a really good tutorial that I just haven't found please send it my way. I'd really like to learn. I don't do as well with video tutorials as I do with written ones but at this point I'll take anything. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it. Seidi

Tic the blue box that says FNIS Integration so that it says "No" and that might help. If not then I have no idea.

Why another drive? Wouldn't completely removing the game and then manually removing the "left over" files have done just as well?

Lights sources and fire are way too bright
CyrusFyre replied to CyrusFyre's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
I'm not too terribly far into the game. I've done the opening, Bleak Falls Barrow and travelled to Whiterun and was on my way to check out the watchtower when I nearly went blind. *sigh* Nuking from orbit is not ideal but if I must, I must. I need my eyes more than this save. I'll look into the suggested mod and see if anyone else has any bright ideas (bad pun intended, sorry). Thanks for taking the time to reply. Edit: I've looked at CLARALUX and that is a great mod. Even if it can't save my game it is still a great mod to have. Thank you for that. ^_^ Edit: I've checked out CLARALUX and it really is a neat mod, I'll be using it from now on. But it doesn't solve the problem, although it helps with fires. I can tweak the lights so that they aren't as painful to look at. The real issue the is the Candlelight spell and spells with similar effects. They are absolutely blinding to behold. I'm going to try starting a new game without RLO and see what happens. That I had no issues with the game at all until I entered Dragon's Reach where Farengar cast that blasted spell seems odd to me. After he cast it things went completely haywire and all lighting in that game is messed up, even if I load a save from a time before entering Dragon's Reach, which was naturally my first reaction. (And I quit to desktop and fired up the game anew to make certain that whatever had happened didn't carry into the newly loaded save.) But it was still there and now happily persists in all of those saves. Skyrim SE why can't you play right? :wallbash: -
Okay, I finally got around to really playing Skyrim SE. I do not have SKSE64 installed. I do use Re-Engaged ENB and Vivid Weathers + True Storms + compatibility patch by Ionas177. I have the most updated ENB Series file and the most updated version of Re-Engaged and the most recent versions of the weather mods as well. I also use Realistic Lighting Overhaul. At first everything was fine, lights were beautiful, the world was just great looking. My only issue was with faded or white hair or eye textures during heavy fog but that is an ENB issue and I think a lot of us are waiting for Boris to help us out with it. Then I entered Dragon's Reach and Farengar cast a candlelight spell and suddenly the lights all went super bright. The room he is in is utterly blinding, the fire in the middle of the throne room is blinding, all the fires outside have this really wide bright glow around them and the fires around the burned down watchtower are blinding, fighting a dragon is more or less impossible because it is bright enough to hurt my eyes. I've tried adjusting the ENB and it helps but only a little and only if I turn everything under lightsprights to the extreme lowest settings under intensity. I've tried removing the ENB, the problem remains. I've tried removing RLO. Problem remains. I've tried turning off bloom in the launcher options. Problem remains. I've tried dimming the lights under gamma, and that just makes everything else too dark and the light sources are still a bit painful. I've even tried dimming the lights in Vivid Weathers and get the same as reducing the gamma. I've googled for hours and found several issues of this happening in Old Skyrim but rarely did I find any real solutions. Obviously something is haywire somewhere. I'd appreciate any help. I'm not sure what information would be helpful so let me know anything you need to know and I'll post it. My graphics card is GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition and my OS is Windows 10 Pro. I did follow the suggestions made by the author of Re-Engaged as to how my Graphics Card handles Skyrim SE. My Load Order: This is the load order I've had from the beginning of the game and this is the only character I'm currently playing. The only thing I've added or removed has been texture mods since starting and they required no esp's. If anyone can help me I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks for letting everyone know. Real life has to come first and as my Grandma used to say "Good things come to those who wait."

In response to post #45678820. #45694310, #45699950, #45754745, #45754820 are all replies on the same post. Glad I'm not the only one that does that. I check once every day or two, depending on my schedule. And I agree that I'm waiting to play the game for SKSE for SSE and the adjustments to the mods for it. I figure I've already played Skyrim standard edition why not just be patient, put in the mods I know I want and do it right, no restarts because I changed my mind. ESO is holding me over pretty well in the meantime. ^_^

I'm kinda with you there Samus. For me I had it but something happened and it got removed by accident, I went to get it again and it's gone. What's happened?

It would be very cool if someone could make a Border Collie retexture of Dogmeat. It would go very well with MissMorose's wonderful Floppy Eared Dogmeat mesh. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8300/? They are my favorite type of dog but I am horrible with textures. Thanks for reading.
