Have to say that I one hundred percent agree with Ginnyfizz on this one, everything Ginny has said is fair enough and theres no pride or arrogance in what she's said what so ever.
What angers me is that whilst these so called politicians in the EU are sat there coming up with dozy ideas like selling eggs by the gramme, they're getting paid for it.
These are the same twits that came up with the idea of seatbelts for motorcycles btw, glad that one got scrapped after testing.
Nobody in the UK is trying to force anything on anybody else, its the other way round.

Ok, so you PC guys are about ready to start screaming at the screen and pointing in a mad rage at your beastly videocard and such... But the sad reality is that console sales is where the money is, and where much of the attention is currently pointed. You won't be finding many more games from popular developers who are not cross-platform, and unfortunately that means having to be stuck with whatever limitations are present in the console. You don't want to hear it, and I'm right there with you, but this is just how it is. Plain and simple, it's a fact of money, and selling the same game in two markets which overlap (meaning people buy twice) is more profitable than sticking with just the smallest one. Maybe one of these days developers will get sick of having to limit their projects based on what you can do on a console, but that day is still far off and will be very brief.
Nail / hammer / head.
Your right, its all down to cash, after all, they dont make games just because they like to and any game that gets released has got to earn its keep, so they're going to go where the money is.
Thankfully for us PC peeps theres a very talented modding community here whos mods can improve our games and keep us happy, as long as the games are moddable that is.
I was shocked to read the other day that a PS3 only has 256 meg of videa ram, thought they had more than that, I wonder what the next gen of consoles will be like, though I think it will be quite a while before we see them.

Having just completed it I'll recommend "The Witcher Platinum Edition"
Its not completely open world but you can forgive it that, the storyline is compelling and god, this game makes you think. Vanilla graphics are good but I've just installed the "Texturen Mod" and "High Rez Characters" and started another playthru, it looks fantastic.
Theres a decent modding community and you get 5 fan made mods with the Platinum Edition.
The combat system isn't just hack and slash and you need to time your hits to chain your attacks together but you get used to it.
Well worth a go in my book.

Spent years working in the UK building trade, so that piece of timber is 2 metres & 6 inches long
Are you the bloke that built our extension?
Blimey, is that thing still standing, I'll have to charge you extra

Gaming is becoming increasingly explainable, but a study full of books papers and memorabilia is still not. While a lot of people dont understand video gamers, its a lot harder to find someone who understands painting, or writing, or any other artform.
This is true, I'm a bookworm as well as a middleaged gamer PC geek, (currently rereading The Big Bang by Simon Singh at the mo, just finished Fermats Last Theorem and have a stack of Scientific Americans to get through that I found at a car boot sale) and the amount of people I know that say things like:
"You read books ? Oh".
Yet when they want to know something they call me, if I'm feeling mischievous I tell em to (yeah, you guessed it) go read a book

Hmm, I'm glad you'r enjoying it and are not having any problems with it.
Maybe the 103 patch sorted a lot of stuff out, but there again, it was 406 meg big before unpacking so it bally well should have.
I found the camera a complete pain in the neck, character customisation was a joke, black screen after character gen happened everytime, game refused to play at a higher resolution than desktop and defaulted to default (very low quality) settings everytime I ran the game.
When I took it back to the shop the guy who sold me it and gave me my refund said he'd had the exact same issues with it. I nearly said "Well why didnt you say that before I bought it", but I was getting my refund so I kept my trap shut and bought Stalker Call of Pripyat to cheer myself up

The thing is there are too many people out there that don't just want to be be a part of your universe, they want to be the centre of it so that everything you do revolves around them, and nothing else. People like this (in my opinion) are both a cancer to the world and a blight on society. If you are an avid gamer (you do more than just game), you should be able to continue as such, even though you are in a relationship - each one of you should be able to have a hobby. If I had a girlfriend who was big on scrapbooking, I wouldn't stop her but I wouldn't join in with her on her projects either since I think scrapbooking is stupid (but I would keep that opinion to myself - she likes it/not MY thing). Likewise, if she didn't care for games, I wouldn't try to force gaming on her if she felt that games were "childish" but if she were to get "on" me about it, I would explain that games are my "drug of choice". I would be willing to forego a game day, to sped time running around with her all day (besides, getting out of the house every now and then is a good thing for both parties).
exactly! Kudos hun
Even if I wasn't a gamer, I still wouldn't complain. People seem to do that way too much in relationships...find something to whine about that they don't like about their partner. You have to understand why they like it. Most people won't understand it though, they'll stick with "that's the lamest thing ever" "why do you waste your time"...maybe if they played the game or asked questions on why their partner likes to do these things, they'd know why it's fun to them. You don't have to like it, just to understand it. But it seems all these days people do with each other is create stupid pointless drama. Why complain that he plays a game? Or fishes? Or hunts? There's plenty more things in the world to get crazy about.
Ah...I'm just a lucky one I guess. I do other things than game...I like to crochet, sew, cook. My boyfriend actually helps me with all those  He helped me guide the fabric in my sewing machine when I was first learning and he comes up with really good ideas to do things. He thought of a great idea to store all my yarn (in one of those comforter bags) You wouldn't see him in front of the machine making a potholder or crocheting something, but he will help you out if you ask. He helps with the dishes, cleaning, baking, cooking (he's such a great sous chef and mixer lol)...man, he even cuts and dyes my hair  Ahh hehe... Plus, he knows how to fix things around the house  I wake up everyday knowing I have a really great guy in my life...we'll be together for 6 years in August
Some very good points there from both of you, well said.
And congrats Illiad on finding someone who seems to be just the right guy for you, in this day and age it makes a pleasant change to hear someone say they're happy with their lot.
I thought I was settled with someone but then I was inconsiderate enough to get bowel cancer, so after a 12 year relationship she packed her bags and off she went. It was a bad time but I think I'm happier now than I ever was before, and yes, she's been back in touch now that I'm back on my feet with money in the bank and a nice car on the drive, I dont think I'm a vindictive sort of chap, but I did take great delight in politely wishing her well and walking away.
Back on topic, a mate of mine and his girlfriend seem to have the perfect set up, they both do exactly as they please, Col regularly finishes a nightshift, goes home and makes a big flask of coffee to last him a while and then he's on WOW till his next nightshift starts, dont know how he does it.
His girlfriends not a gamer, she's just got back from 2 weeks somewhere abroad with her mates and she's off again in a couple of months, they been together for 11 years and I've never known them to disagree on anything. They're good people too.
I dont think that both halves of a couple need to be gamers, I think they just need to understand and care about what each other wants.

That wasn't bad, and some of those dance animations look very cool

You might want to check out DIVINITY 2 EGO DRACONIS. Its a stunning buetiful game with a vast world to explore which plays alot like the Elder Scrolls. There is also a sequel in the works. Here is a link to some gameplay footage:
Thanks, the game looks pretty fine. Kudo for you.
A word of caution before you buy it.
Go to the games website and check the forum and read the complaints about all the bugs, they're true.
Bought it last Saturday and by Monday I was back in the shop getting a refund, the guy behind the counter said they'd never had so many complaints about a game as they had for Divinity II, he'd tried it himself and uninstalled it after an hour, I got my refund no problem.

Inform your brother that the measure of success isnt telling some one he's never going to be a success through not having many friends, that seems to be his own insecurities coming to the surface.
As for success, Bben and Dark0ne make good points.
Answer this question.
Am I a success ?
Unsure of the answer ? Ok, ask yourself this question.
Am I a failure ?
While thinking about that one bear this in mind, why on earth would you be a failure, what have you done thas so terrible ?
The big question is:
Are you happy with who you are ?
Nevermind other peoples opinions, only you can answer that one.
My brother and I dont get on, havent for years, he thinks I'm a failure because he's bought a house and raised a family and I haven't, (I've bought 3 houses & sold them that he doesnt know about coz I cant be assed talking to the prat).
He's also mortgaged to the hilt and all he owns is on some sort of finance or another and he struggles like crazy to pay everything, I'm single, retired early, share a house with a friend of many years, have money in the bank and I want for very little, apart from the last cornetto because my greedy guts housemate scoffs them all.
He's happy with his lot and I'm happy with mine, but are either of us a success ?
Depends on your point of view I guess.

Aaargh, my heads battered.
Politics, intrigue, schemes and schemers, plot upon plot and a book that has news that has you thinking "well if thats so then how come I'm in this game ?"
How on earth the devs thought all this up and then tied it together so well is extraordinary.
Its getting so deep I'm gonna have to take notes !

Morrowind GOTY now on its way to Illiad.

Just bought the platinum edition the other night so haven't got very far yet, but in all honesty, wow.
The level of graphical detail is amazing, when searching for the indgredients for Triss's potion I spent ages just looking round the place, looks fantastic on a big screen.
Took me a wee while to get used to the combat system and I had to download a first person camera mod (hate OTS view) but the game is shaping up nicely so far.
The Witcher 2 is due out soon isn't it ?
Check it out:
Looks like it'll be a blast.
Does look pretty good, did he say June 1 2011 was the release date ?
A wee while to wait yet then.
@ Sinophile
Guess you could look at it from the point of view that they're constantly trying to improve things for their customers, no bad thing in my book.

Bioshock 2 is soon to be winging its way to Ub3rman so just the Morrowind GOTY to go if any one wants it.
-
I still prefer the disc over Steam for some reason. My mom agreed that I can pay postage. Want to try that, Marthos?
Rather than destroy the disc (sorry Terminater) I'll let Ub3rman have it.
As long as your sure it will work on your side of the pond Ub3rman, you can have it, pm your email address and I'll send you some payment details for the postage.
Cant believe its up at 50 dollars over there, I bought it brand new sealed from our local GAME store for £10 and also only paid £4 for the Morrowind GOTY
I've just been to the same GAME store tonight and bought The Witcher Platinum Edition for £16 so I think you guys over there are getting slightly ripped off.
Oh roll on TES V, I'm bored with Oblivion and me keyboard fingers are twitchy.
-
Thanks for that Vin
Will bear it in mind
-
Sorry Thor
Thought these would be snapped up by now, looks like their destined for life on the shelf.

Burgers = yak breath.
Bring me a whole cow, I'll carve of what I want and ride the rest home (Dennis Leary skit).
A 15 pound burger ? I'm a trencher man (read greedy pig) and love my food but forcing that lot down could kill someone.

Just dowloaded Borderlands and Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl last night via Windows Live (yeah, I know) had a cart load of points left over from my Xbox 360 days and needed to use em up.
Havent looked at online play yet, gonna get used to the game a bit first so I dont get shot full of holes all the time.
-
Sorry MHM
Its still too high, cheapest I can find is £12.65 plus vat.
Deffo going to have to be UK folks only.
-
Sorry Ub3rman and Illiad
Just priced up USA delivery and the cheapest I can find is just short of £18 each which is to much I'm afraid.
Gonna have to stick with the UK only thing.
Both games still up for grabs folks.
