  2. This is an attitude that I strongly despise, as it seems gamers have this habit of thinking somebody is going to blame their hobby for everything that goes wrong around it. Nobody isout to get the gamers, get used to that, The age of 'games cause violence' etc is long since past.

    Wrong, sorry.

Its happened in the past, it still happens and will continue to happen for the simple reason that when people need to blame something for a tragic event, they will.

I know its crap of the bovine variety, as do you, but there will have been people that read that story and blamed the computer game and not the gamer.

Remember, the human race contains people that thought using a mobile phone would give you cancer or fry your brain.

  3. If there's a remote chance that in future, you may crossfire, the min you want is 750W, remember that just meeting the required specs isn't enough, your gonna want that PSU to do its stuff day in day out for years, it won't make it if its whoopin along at 90 to 100 % of its capability all the time, it will get hot fast and its power output will degrade, as will its componants from constantly running hot.

And don't take the specs in bold letters on the box for gospel, read the small print, its the long term power output specs you need to know. One other thing to remember is that a cheap 1000W PSU won't be as good or dependable as an expensive 750W.

The PSU is your most important componant, everything depends on its capabilities.

  4. Well whaddya know.....

I just got my download links from Gamesplanet!

    Yay, nice one.

So whats it like, pants, poo, good & should I buy it ?

Think I've seen more conflicting reports for this game than any other.

Edit: its up on Game.co.uk to download at ten quid less than previously stated, Game.co.uk downloads are usually ten quid dearer than anywhere else, I think they're upset ;-)

  5. The size of the game world is dissapointing.

Read somewhere (cant remember where now) that most of the map is for multiplayer and only a much smaller part of it is used in singleplay.

Still can't believe the hash they've made of releasing this game.

Here is a reply I had from Zuxxez

    "Hello Mrs. Preddy,

we have no agreement with a company called "Gamesplanet". We even do not

    know such a company.

    Balls !!!

They know very well who Gamesplanet is, same as they know all the others they've left dangling.

    Zuxxez ?

    More like Sucks'sss precioussss.

Hope you get your dosh back Ginny.

  6. I can't get Risen here, Australia banned it.

Got it sat gathering dust in a cupboard, you can have it if you want it, don't think I'll play it again.

Don't know what the postage would be from the UK to Oz though.

  7. Was in Game yesterday and when I asked about Two Worlds 2 the guy said they'd been told to take the promo cases off the shelves, said they'd been told a container load bound for blighty had suffered water damage, he also said that he thought it was a load of horseshit as all of a sudden, it seems that Amazon is going to be the only retailer in the UK to be selling said Two Worlds 2

Just followed Robins link and read that page and well, that little lot beats hen racing.

Seems like Topware & Zuxxez are the lowest of the low, and rightly so.

  8. Bah I'm away from home and can only view it on my phone. Its all grainy and pixelated but still looks amazing. Can't wait till this evening when I get to go home and see it. So far it looks like those who criticized the graphics will be eating their words or just lying to themselves.

    Ok Fatal

I'll eat my words, that does look pretty damn good and the landscaping also looks involving too, I was trying to not get too excited about Skyrim but I am now officially twitchy and its only Febuary. Its gonna be a long summer, but once Nov 11 comes round I'm gonna be cabin'd up and I won't be coming out till about the following easter.

Some have said that the pathing on that wolf looked a bit naff but I thought its actual animations looked quite fluid.

And the dragon shout heh heh, reminds me of one of my ex's, she had a shout that could make me disappear.

  9. It seems that the cost of whatever alternative we look at is going to be horrendous.

As Jim rightly pointed out re the electric cars scenario, our goverments are going to want their pound of flesh, so we would also be forced to add a probably high rate of taxation to the cost of whatever alternative fuel we look at.

Its a pity, because hydrogen seems to be the most viable prospect at the moment, but add the possible heavy taxation to the cost of implementing the infrastructure required to the puchase cost of a hydrogen powered vehicle and most folks would be on shanks's pony.

  10. Another thought pops into my head re electric cars, as Jim-uk will probably quite happily testify, here in the UK the energy companies are squeezing our nuts dry with the prices they're charging now, if we all ended up in electric cars and relied on the energy companies to keep us on the road, well you know where this going don't you ?

As a side note Vin, I love the sound of a Rover V8 lump, also the Jag 3.6 straight six and the Jag 5.3 V12 XJS, had em both, although I can tell you that the V12 XJS passes everything but the filling station

  11. I also was thinking about the hydogen fuel cell and the program that James May did, it works, no doubt about that but as you say the infrastructure isnt there, I think it was also stated in that program that the costs were similar to what we're forking out now so if you added in the cost of getting that infrastructure in place then the price will rocket.

Electric cars will happen, I'm pretty sure about that but by the time 2050 comes around I'll probably only be in need of a hearse

Theres only one other power source open to us and thats nuclear :nuke: power, but I think we're still in our infancy with that at the moment, maybe our grandkids grandkids will get a chance to do something with it.

Thats if we (humans) survive, by 2050 there'll be an estimated 10.5 billion beings on an earth thats struggling to sustain us now, the future could be grim.

And on that cheery note, I'm off to make a pint pot of coffee.

  12. I agree to all of that Vin, but one thing troubles me, you've mentioned it and its a biggie.

    The battery.

We've come along quite nicely just lately with battery technology, but I think we're a fair way off getting a battery that will do all that is required for electric cars to the extent that they can readily replace our current petrol and diesal vehicles.

Plus, the production cost and negative enviromental effects of producing said battery will possibly outweigh the benefits of having an electric car, which is a damn shame really as there aren't many more viable options available to us.

    Think I'll buy a horse.

  13. I live in the North East UK and where I used to work (now retired) was 18 miles away from my home, on the morning that my car wouldn't start I left the keys with one of my housemates and headed for the bus stop.

2 buses, 1 train, 1 taxi and 3 hours later I arrived at work, cost me £14

So if I hadn't had a car and had to rely on public transport that would be, 3 hours travel times 2 and a 12 hour shift makes an 18 hour day, £14 each way a day would mean £140 a week costs every week and our beloved government keep saying things like "get people out of their cars and onto public transport" :wallbash:

The car is king and I still couldn't manage without one.

Would I have an electric one ?

If they manage to improve the range and get the price down then yes, although the thought of a flat battery on an electric car means your goosed, you aint gonna jump start that baby.

Edited for getting my maths wrong :whistling:
