  1. Hello, I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this before? The weather patterns start to cycle really quick after playing for a bit. There will be a message with the specific weather pattern with 1/38, 2/38 ect ect that accompanies the appropriate weather cycle. It's crazy. Especially starts to happen during intense battle scenes. The weather patterns will cycle around 3-4 seconds apart and just continue through all of them while playing. Usually ends up with a crazy red pattern. I'm running pure weather and realistic lighting. Was running Climates of Tamriel in past. I have tried deactivating ALL my mods and it still does it after some gameplay. It's crazy. Any suggestions? Thanks. Todd
  2. Hello, I was wondering if this would be possible. A mod where information from the wiki about everything Morrowind is brought into the dialogue with the NPC's? For instance, when a person talks about the Dunmer there is an option to click on Dunmer and it would bring up all the information from the wiki. It would be like the npc is teaching or something like that. It could even be a small scripted word beside the name that said, "teach" and it brings up a ton of information about that topic. I think it would be a matter of extracting the data from the wiki into titles and text files and incorporating it into the dialogue boxes somehow? Do you think this is possible or even worthwhile. I wish I could learn more while conversing with the NPC's. thanks. ....
  3. Hello, I have tried to work through the creation kit to no avail and wanted your input. I have discovered how to alter the leveled lists. But, I'm wondering if someone could point me in the general direction of where I can add spawn points and adjust the spawn rates at that point? I want to add some spawn locations in the wilds and want to adjust how many creatures spawn at that spot. Thank you so much,
  4. Hello, I was wondering what is the process to simply replace wolves in the wilderness levelled list with something like trolls? I just want to spawn trolls (or something else that I choose) instead of wolves in the wilds? Is this hard to do? Thanks, Todd
  5. Hello, I wanted to ask something in regards to archery in the game. I came upon this interesting article about the inability of arrows to pierce armor in a lot of cases http://www.benjaminrose.com/post/can-arrows-penetrate-medieval-armor/ It seems to me that the arrows potential to do damage in the game should primarily be locational. In other words- it's place of impact. Face..... arms..... and anything exposed. I'm sure that arrows could pierce certain armors. But, it seems to me a primary component of the damage formula for arrows should be if it hits non protected areas? What do you think. Came upon this interesting quote also. From this article. http://forum.rpg.net/archive/index.php/t-16614.html "No arrow can punch through plate, not even those fired from Indian steel recurve bows (the most powerful bows in the world) at ideal range. An arrow can, however, completely regardless of its quality or the quality of the bow it's shot from, hit one of the less heavily protected areas: the groin, the joints, the armpits, the neck, etc. and thus "penetrate" plate armor without punching through the armor plate itself. The hail of arrows released by a volley of trained archers was pretty much the Medieval equivalent of the anti-personnel machinegun. Regarding mail, I suppose the arrowheads were larger relative to the links of mail than I thought... Probably. The average link size was about 5mm (inside diameter), and the ends of the rings were not simply hammered shut like in most modern reproductions, but actually riveted together so the overall construction was a lot more durable than what you get these days." I did read this quote just a few minutes ago that may testify against this fact Found what I wrote at the time; Military Historian Dr David Whetham of King’s College, University of London, Physicist Paul Burke of Cranfield University and Hillary Greenland, Secretary of the Society for the Promotion of Traditional Archery have recently carried out experiments at the MODs UK Defence Academy at Shrivenham, Oxfordshire into the effectiveness of the English War bow [a.k.a. Longbow]. They used bows with 110, 140, and 150 pounds draw weights and a range of different late medieval arrowheads. To make the tests as authentic as possible they examined the skeletal structure of the bodies of medieval bowmen excavated from the battle of Towton and from those drowned on the Mary Rose. They then searched for a modern individual whose bone/muscle structure most closely matched. They found one, Mark Stretton from Leicestershire who was a blacksmith and by pure chance, an avid archer since the age of six. The full report will be published in 2007, but the initial published findings are quite interesting. Some of you will be aware of similar experiments carried out over the last 30 years, which have concluded that “Bodkin” arrowheads were not able to pierce plate armour, and so the hail of arrows was used more to break up enemy formations. Some of these “tests” have been televised, showing such arrowheads buckling or bouncing off late medieval plate armour. It appears these tests were carried out using bows with only 50-70 pounds draw weight, and the wrong arrowheads were used for the armour being tested. The latest tests using correct period arrowheads have shown that the energy released at impact was 100-120 joules, the equivalent of being hit with a sledgehammer. Such arrows were found to be able to penetrate plate armour at ranges up to 200 meters, enough to kill, or seriously wound the wearer. You can get a DVD of the tests here http://www.sylvanarchery.co.uk/SUNDRIES/warbowdvd.html and his quote , really powerful shots might be able to defeat poor plate armour at close enough range, but generally if a guy in plate were hurt by arrow it would be because the arrow found a hole in the armour (like visors). http://cdn.historum.com/images/classic/statusicon/user_offline.gif I understand this is just a game (lol). But, it seems that the archery equation should really take this into account more. It's almost like the npc or player should have hotspots on the body based upon the type of armor and what is worn. It's in these hotspots that damage can be done. Would add a new complexity to archery and make it a more specialized option.
  6. I was wondering if this would be hard to do. It's quite simple actually. I would like a mod where you have to search the map for your wife or significant other. Because, she was captured by a band of wandering trolls .. scamps... whatever. The mod would randomly place her (a fictional female npc) somewhere on the map with 3 or 4 abductors surrounding her. YOu simply have to search the map to find her. It may take a long time... but, that is okay.. It would be cool even to maybe add scripts to npc's that gave you hints? ect. But, at first- just a way to randomly place a female character surrounded by 4 scamps (trolls) ect. It could even involve placing her in a dungeon, forest- ANYWHERE. I like to wander the map and I think this would be a cool reason to have to explore and search. just wondering. Would be great to be able to reset the character after she is found. I posted this over in the oblivion mod forum also. Thanks.

  8. Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to edit the 1st person animations when walking and running so that there is JUST a little upward and downward movement. I was noticing that when I walk and run there is mainly an up and down motion to the vision. Is there a way to increase this range of the 1st person view while walking? Thanks,
  9. Hello, I was wondering about the possibility of altering the damage equation for bows and arrows. Here is my logic. An arrow hurts (:)) and does the same damage when shot from anyone as long as the bow has an equal pull strength. In other words it seems to me that the only thing that should come into play with the damage equation is pull strength, armor of receiver and accuracy.. Why would an arrow material (unless enchanted) matter at all. Why would a person skillset matter at all. Unless you take upon their ability to shoot...accuracy. In fact, it SEEMS that the only component of a characters skill that should be taken into account is their accuracy. An orc shoots the same arrow and an elf with a lower skill base shoots the same arrow. The same arrow hits the person (thing) and does the same thing. It goes in and it inflicts damage. Unless the aim, receivers armor or pull strength of the bow differs. Would it be possible to make a simple change to the damage equation for bows to simply take into account pull strength of the particular shot, accuracy and armor of the recipient? Thanks.
  10. I was wondering if was possible to lower the general volumes of certain spells. Some of the spells (healing for example) are so much louder than other sounds. They are literally blowing me away with headphones on and even through the speakers when the volume is turned up enough to hear the other songs. I am assuming I can at least get to the individual sounds and lower the volume in a music editing piece of software? Thanks!!!! todd
  11. Was curious if the grass sway has much of an affect on fps and performance? Can you turn it off? I remember that you could in Oblivion.
  12. Hello, Anyone know of a mod that gets rid of that annoying grass striping seen when looking at grass from mid to long range distances. It's like the grass has lines like it has been cut. I remember there was a mod like this for Oblivion. I was just wondering if it has been done with skyrim? Thanks,
  13. To be honest. I think it's degrading to women and this amazing game. Go get a magazine or something and leave the dragon fighting to real men. :)
  14. Has the fxaa changed in anyway versus the Skyrim fxaa. It is kinda blurry the way it is?
