i see they've taken my suggestions seriously. I'm always here to help. and you should work on your hyperbole.
-
i stared at your post for a full minute b/c i didn't know how to respond. so i then thought i would use this opportunity to practice writing my thoughts out in real time. turkey. gravy. mmmmm.... oh btw i didnt really ask for anything i demanded nexus conform to my aesthetics and selfishness. I know how to use a question mark? i never claimed they weren't, but go look at the images section page 33 for example. you could average the views on that entire page to about 250. half of the time its lewd or degenerate images of nightmares involving furry animals and oily people. im not saying im not one of those 250 people soaking it in desperately either. trust me. it just seems like the video section is not apart of the site in the same way. maybe a small button on the mod page for links to videos about, like tutorials and reviews might be another way to go. im just here offering amazing suggestions.
-
1. Remove the images section from the main page and replace it with the videos section, but only for tutorials. The rest of the videos are [insert favorite expletive here]. 2. Index the tutorial video section and make it searchable in the Files section. 3. Just add the damn video section to the front page. me being selfish now, i have some great, AMAZING tutorials for little known programs that suffer from lack of exposure. I don't think i need to tell you what happens when great programs fall by the wayside. Not only that, there are a number of tutorials on here I wouldn't have known about unless they showed up in google. I mean c'mon now. c'mon. are you for serious right now? p.s. none of my videos are monetized or will ever be. i dont get anything out of this except frustration from seeing, excuse me, but garbage mods flood the file section while high quality tutorials are stuck in the corner. and by high quality tutorials, i mean mine. idc about anyone elses.

Related\Tagged Files on Video Upload is Borked, get in here
marthgun replied to marthgun's topic in Site Support
ok you just type in the name of the mod, instead of linking it. so intuitive. -
i upload video that no one will ever see because the video section is full of lets play garbage, with that out of the way, i'd like to tag a file that the video is actually about, what am i supposed to put in the text box under the Files section of the video upload? where it says: If your video is showcasing files that can be found on the Nexus, please add them below edit: im getting a browser pop up saying NO FILE SELECTED

The staff are just the most magnanimous, foxy creatures on the entire planet, I see no reason not to let them out of their cages once in awhile. However, removing their muzzle and allowing them to squawk in public? I have mixed feelings about this. I will allow it. For now.

Witcher 2 Geralt movement speed increse
marthgun replied to xgz1112's topic in The Witcher's Mod Ideas
for anyone who stumbles across this thread and wants a faster geralt, you need to use Master Witcher Redux mod (found here on nexus) and he has implemented an awesome sprint capability (you can double tap the 'W' key and/or tap 'SHIFT' to make Geralt sprint) however its only 0.25 times faster than normal. if you want to make him even faster, as i did, use the gibbed tools and unpack the scripts.dzip which should be in your MyDocuments\Witcher 2\UserContent\(MWRFolder_orWhateverYouNamedThisFolder)\ once scripts.dzip is unpacked look for a file called moveable.ws and edit it with SublimeText or whatever; line 78 you'll see the float value that you can change; I set mine to 1.75, and its barely passable (animations start looking a bit rough the faster you go so be warned) the best part is you can always just hit the 'SHIFT' key to go back to normal run mode. Hope this helps and thank the mod author, I'm not even sure how he figured that out. edit: don't forget to Pack up the contents of scripts.dzip -
In response to post #27533699. #27534194, #27544734 are all replies on the same post. The "persecution" of females is being way over blown. Almost all of it comes from stupid kids under 14. And it doesn't just happen to females. There has been alot of patently false information spread over the internet making it seem like females are being accosted left and right, but here's a good video going over the recent study of harrassment in video games, and its far less than prevelant than is being touted. Making it a gender issue is ridiculous. and for the people surprised by the low female / male ratio on here, how can you think this place is booming with females? You should probably try pinterest if you're looking for women on the internet.

Since Morrowind i have felt the open world has gotten progressively smaller and less filled. mods can fix anything but a small map. I just hope they made it massive. We can fill the rest -
are you using enb? are you using the newest skse? to see if its a memory issue: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6491/? you need enb, you don't need an enb preset http://enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrim.htm you can go into the enblocal ini and use the fps limiter you can also use enb to force a fake fullscreen or use this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41784 if all that fails, use this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/? but make sure you know exactly what you're doing, it also has a fps limiter, use this if you're using enb as well. I use all this stuff.

In response to post #24653094. from reading a bunch of crap last night, I believe that under US law and most European Laws, that if you create a mod, its technically your intellectual property. This gets a bit funny if you use the CK or GECK to make it, because now Bethesda has a partial claim to it. From what I read though, its practically yours as long as you don't distribute it. Beth could raise an issue with you distributing mods, but would probably lose the case in most countries. But if you charged for it, then you would probably lose. this is why its not a good idea to hand beth your mod, because without a doubt the only reason you are "allowed" to sell it is because Bethesda owns it outright. This opens up a lot of problems if you make a popular mod and decide to overhaul it, they could step in and stop you from doing it. Or they could issue DMCA on the free versions of your mod across the internet. I'm not 100% sure on how it works, but that's what i gathered from what i read.

In response to post #24651664. #24652349, #24652889, #24652914, #24653009 are all replies on the same post. yeah its insane to hand over your mods to steam / beth. I don't think they are even obligated to pay you for them If they wanted to repackage / bundle your mods in a "best of" series, i don't see why they would even need to pay you. But everyone wants to talk about how great it is that modders will be able to make money. I wonder if that will hold up when 20,000 mods are behind a pay wall. If they took the top 100 mods here and sold them, that is more palatable. But they would still be giving away their mods to steam / beth. I really hope people make a bunch of money off of their mods and prove me wrong. I hope it makes people millions. I don't see how it will, but it's doubtful this is going away anytime soon; way too much money in it for steam / beth.

In response to post #24651664. #24652349 is also a reply to the same post. Good faith??? Are you kidding me? Chesko SIGNED OVER HIS MODS TO VALVE AND BETHESDA He has no one to blame. I have been beating the drum against this very thing since i heard about paid modding. Now that beth has your mod, and they make money off of it, they may see it beneficial to issue DMCA to the free versions or copy cats. Everyone wants to talk about money this and money that. If Steam had a more fair payout, i wouldn't really care. It's going to cause massive problems, it already has, but the issues of liability, i.e. who's responsible when the mod you paid for breaks your game, and copywrite should be the biggest concerns about all of this. The only thing i am moderately upset about is the Robin accepting this as is, and yet there isn't a good reason to deny free cash. This whole thing is mind numbing.

Anyone can give them money, that should be obvious, and 1-5% is peanuts. We shouldn't pretend that Nexus will be raking in the shekels on this deal, UNLESS all mods had to be paid mods, in which case it seems very odd that Nexus would come out so heavily against this idea. I'm sure Dark0ne had either felt the winds of change or someone tipped him off for him to go on thta massive tirade against paid mods a month ago. Either way this was always an inevitability, but the screw job that commenced was not what i expected. -

Bethesda is hosting at E3 this year, so it's clearly set up to maximize profits of Fallout 4, they want the infrastructure in place so that the steam workshop becomes the foremost hub of mods. The problem is that steam is a terrible community. The comment system, the fact that virtually none of the essential utilities are hosted on the steam workshop, all of the knowledgable users are not on steam, they are at the nexus or the beth forums. -

So anyone that play tested it, gave suggestions that were implemented, gave criticism, gave resources, allowed use of utilities, etc. The average mod probably has hundreds of hands in that cookie jar. What valve is doing is clearly against the law. But not only that is there are liability issues with selling a product. And lets face it, most mods would be highly defective products. They could crash, or break your game, or be incompatible with future releases. And under comsumer protections, refunds would need to be given, not just in 24 hours. -

The way i understand it is that the MOD AUTHOR can elect to make Nexus a Service Provider / Curator and proceeds will go them from sales. I don't think its Nexus decision to be chosen. It's only unethical if they coerce people into this. I would like an official statement as well just to clarify, but I don' t think Nexus accepting money from essentially donations is wrong. -

But lets face it, they've already recieved their punishment. everyone has been getting flamed and harassed. I don't want to cause them any more pain and suffering. I would like to think they learned their lesson. It was a selfish move on their part, but it wasn't an unjustifiable move. If everyone made money on their mods, it might produce higher quality mods but it would destroy the average modder and make using mods far more difficult. It also has serious liability issues with selling a digital product, and so far there is no consumer protection. -
Valve/Bethesda announce paid modding for Skyrim, more games to follow

In response to post #24602184. It sounds like a great idea and wonderful time for your mod. but if everyone thought this way, and mods like falskarr costs $15...and there were 100 of these mods... that's untenable. And would only open a black market, and everything that comes along with that, viruses, shadiness, people selling your stuff becomes even more prominent, etc, etc. On a selfish level, its great, it might actually propel the mods to a new level. On a realistic level, it would never happen like that. in fact, i would suspect bethesda losing money on sells if that were the case. -

In response to post #24585079. that wasn't a problem with the "games industry" that is an ongoing problem with corrupt media trying to cover up their own misdeeds by labeling a group of people uncovering their deeds as misogynistic. That narrative was started by Anita Sarkeesian and Brianna Wu, neither of which had anything to do with games journalism or GamerGate. and both have seen record profits, so its pretty obvious that claiming to be harrassed is actually great for business. -

In response to post #24584199. #24584419 is also a reply to the same post. first, i don't think this levee is going to hold. People are rightfully outraged at this. GamerGate has already established an infrastructure for outrage and we are on top of this. Letters will be sent by the thousands. second, you are absolutely correct about the compatibility issues. And where will everyone go to get their patches and community support? The nexus ofc, and for that reason alone its a massive slap in the face. I know alot of mod authors want to take 100% of the credit, and they deserve far more than that could ever entail. but mods are a community project as well, not just in the utilitites that were created so Mod Y could get made, but also the support and suggestions from the user base. It's like they'll rake in the dough over at the steam gold factory and send all the complaints over here. No thanks. That's why i suggested banning anyone who signs onto this from the nexus. ok maybe that's too extreme. but instead of coming to the community saying we want shekels, they ran into the arms of the arch demon of shekels himself. I think we can solve this issue as a community, no need to invoke Gabe Newell. -

In response to post #24582509. calm down now. pandoras box has been opened indeed, we are past the event horizon. the last thing we need is pessimism driving talent into the malevolent embrace of Darth Gaben for a mere 25%. The situation can be salvaged, its not just you that is feeling burnt about this. Alot of us contributed postively for years to mods. I don't want to see it destroyed by valve. At least hold out on getting better compensation. -

I REFUSE to allow you (i will hunt you down) to get sucked into the shekel shoah that is steam. Pandora's box has been opened. The skids have to be greased for modders to make money, we should accept that reality. But no way should you sell yourself short by allowing valve to steal from you. 25% is absolutely unacceptable. The fire rises. It will burn this thing to the ground. we need a rebuild initiative. Do not go to the dark side until the rebuild commences. the more high quality artists make the move now, the harder it will be to get an acceptable compensation.
