  1. Yeah, I'm just gonna call it quits on this one. I went ahead and tried exporting the mesh as an .obj and importing that one into the pipboy.nif anyway just to see if it might work, and it messed up all of the shading to the point that it wasn't worth it. 😞 I wish there had been a warning on the NifTools page that it only worked properly on a much older version of Blender so I could have avoided all this.

  2. To preface, I haven't used Blender in many, many years, and wasn't exactly proficient with it then. I've been working on a Pip-Boy mod, and have finished the model changes and tried to export the finished model, but was greeted with a ton of errors. Apparently upon importing the nif, either Blender or the nif plugin stripped out shader type and shader flags from several entries. After doing some searches I solved that issue only to have a new set of errors when I tried again. Apparently the import/export functionality doesn't work on the latest version of Blender with the nif plugin and everyone recommends using v2.49. I was already worried about trying to open a blend file made in v.4.0, but I did that next anyway, installing Python v2.6 (and 2.5.4 later when it did not work) and Blender v2.49. And of course it couldn't open it. Blender v2.49 gave a warning message saying that it was made in a different version and would probably lose some information like animations, would I like to continue anyway. There was no visible yes or no buttons, just Okay? at the top of the dialogue box. Clicking Okay did nothing but close the popup same as if I moused away from dialogue box.
My question is, did I really lose all of my work? Because if I did, I give up and don't even want to keep going and do all of that work all over again.

*Edit: I just found out about Pynifly and it was able to export that nif, but all information like shader type, flags, object types etc. have been stripped out, some of which I see no way to change. The pip-boy light mesh was also stripped of it's vertex shading, alpha, and is now solid green with no transparency. It is also one of the items I can't find a way to fix, because it was changed during the export to BSShaderTextureSet instead of the single NiTextureSource entry for the white effect texture.

  3. Hey Dark0ne, why not just block or redirect any connections with any of this guys sites as the referring site? Like redirect all incoming clicks back to the Nexus main page that they were trying to leach from.

Maybe even with a custom message to inform the users of what's going on.

I just noticed this was already suggested.

  4. Working for an electrician in Texas during the summer. The lowest man on the totem pole gets all of the hardest and worst work. The day that made me decide to give notice was when i had to pull service cable for over 200 feet through the boiling hot attic of a building surrounded by very angry wasps. Just getting the spool outside on the trailer to rotate took every last bit of strength and energy I had. When I was finally done and managed to crawl back outside I was asked by the guy who was telling me what to do that day if I was ready for the second run for the sauna. I nearly died right there on the spot. On a couple of different jobs, other crews had even asked me why I was the only one doing any work.
  5. Yeah, that was a brilliant move..... wonder who thought that one up?

"Hey! I know!! Let's put ALL of our assets in the largest, slowest target we can find. You know, a Chinook helicopter? We can save some fuel that way, by not using several smaller helicopters."........

The taliban probably used one of the stinger missiles we sold them when they were fighting the russians.....

Actually, if I remember correctly, the Chinook is one of our fastest choppers.

  6. I hate the little sob from Lamplight, Mayor MacCready. I really don't like children in general, but kids that swear make me angry. Children that threaten to blow my F*@%$*! head off make me want to go ballistic. I really didn't have a favorite, everyone was either annoying or just tolerable.
  7. Hollywood is full of "people" so far out of touch with the common man and reality in general, that most of them shouldn't be allowed out of their homes without a caretaker. Kim Jong-Il is an ass that craves power and fame, something as stupid as this will only feed his comically inflated ego.
  8. Anyone here who has played Just Cause 2 can tell you it's possible to have an enormous (significantly larger than a real life city) worldspace that has no load zones, borders or awful mushy LOD distant land. And surprisingly, still have very nice graphics and frame rate.
  9. I think the only reason that the "VATS" mode was put in to Fallout 3 was to make sure people who were fans of the series could ease into their adaptation of the Fallout IP. To make it seem more like an "old school" turn based RPG and less like an FPS. At least that's the only reason that I can think of to have added it in the first place. I doubt they will be using any system like it in TESV.Or at least I hope.
  10. Here is a Doom 4 screenshot using the Tech5 engine.

May come up with some more info tomorrow, Oh so secret this engine is. :whistling:

That's just a screenshot from the XBox version of Doom 3. I don't think there are any Doom 4 shots anywhere. So far the only id Tech 5 images have been from Rage.

  11. Do either of the consoles support DX11? I would assume that's what the main influence on that decision would be. If neither of them do it would be a lot of extra work for what would likely be the platform with lowest sales. On a side note, if the new engine isn't mod friendly, I personally wouldn't even bother to buy the PC version.
