  1. There are more men playing video games than women. The gap is narrowing, but the numbers are still divided clearly enough for marketing people to make an easy decision of it. I'm a man and I always play as a male, so if a game was presented to me as the lead (player) character being a woman, I would be less inclined to play. A freind of mine was playing some cartoony RPG, I can't remember the name, where the PC was a woman who just lost her husband or fiancee (or some such) and the plot seemed to revolve around romance for her. I just couldn't understand why he would want to play that game. Some people just don't get that whole "see the world from the other side of the fence" angle. When marketing a game, movie or anything else it pays to market directly to your biggest demographic.
  2. Isn't it possible to make a mod that uses third person, but situates the camera roughly in the same place as the eyes of the third person model? Just lock the axes to only allow yaw and pitch from that point. This would essentially do the same thing wouldn't it?
  3. Install

    ===========

    1. Extract and drop the DATA folder into your install folder

    (typically \Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\)

    2. Overwrite/merge files and folders when prompted

    3. Enable "Brahmin Bess.esp" plugin on the "Data Files" section of

the 'Fallout: New Vegas' Launcher (or in your 3rd party launcher)

You have to extract the mod's files first. Winrar or 7-Zip amongst others will do the job.

  4. I don't get it. These sites have been online for quite a while now, and this hasn't been a problem before. If something is deleted or someone banned, assume there was a good reason, and move on. If there is something you find offensive, report it. If the powers that be find a reason to take action, they will. Otherwise just let it go. Don't download it, don't read it and so on.
  5. Here's what it says on the G.e.c.k. wiki :

    * Crit % Mult: The weapon multiplier used in the critical hit chance formula. If set to zero, the weapon will not cause any critical hits, even for sneak attacks. Normally, this setting is left at one. See the Critical Hit Chance Formula for more details.

Note: For automatic weapons, this value is divided by the "Fire Rate." For example, an Assault Rifle has a "Crit % Mult" of 1.0, and a "Fire Rate" of 8, so the actual multiplier would be 0.125 per shot.

    So thc1234 should be right.

  6. Mechwarrior is one, surprised nobody said this. I've played 3 and 4 before and supposedly there's a new one being made (I think the new one is the one posted in DonKnotts's link).

Actually that's an entirely fan made BattleTech mod for Crysis. Nearly ten years and no new game (for pc) can drive fans to do some pretty remarkable stuff.

  7. I really hate MMO RPGs. It's nearly impossible to have deep character development. And I just don't like 4th ed. Even if you like the new faster pick up and play style of 4th, it's hard to like the things they have done with the lore and stories of the Forgotten Realms campaign. It has struck me as though 4th was worked on by people who didn't actually like or give a damn about D&D or PnP RPGs in general. Maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon, but I don't see how this could shape up to be anything I'd enjoy.
  8. Hopefully they are going to develop an anti piracy method that actually works. They could then license it to other publishers. If they could manage that, then it would help save PC gaming and graphics and game play innovations could return to the PC where it belongs. We would start to see games advancing in leaps and bound rather than stagnate for five to ten years at a time with consoles leading the way.
  9. You gotta love a game where Michael Ironside is the voice of your character. I have yet to play Conviction, but all of the others were pretty good. And I'll echo what others have said, Chaos Theory was my favorite as well. The replay value is pretty good if you like to go back through to get a perfect rating for each level.
  10. Neverwinter Nights 2 was awesome, but so was the original NWN. It was even better story wise in my opinion. I remember all those years ago when I first played it, I was blown away by the story's presentation. If you don't already have it, get the Diamond edition and you will have well over a hundred hours of gameplay at your finger tips. I myself have been trying to find my copy so I can finally play the Darkness over Daggerford module which is supposed to be pretty good. So far I can only find the book. :wallbash:
  11. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are great. Anyone who doesn't have them already, buy them. You can get all three for under $50 on Steam, or around $40 at Amazon. If you like wide open games, creepy FPS's, or games with an abundance of unique style, then get these games. Watch some videos and go to some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. forums to get a feel for the games. The games are surprisingly addictive, just listening to the theme makes me want to play.

  12. I slaughtered the inhuman scum and had a great deal of fun playing it, I greatly liked this game but I was never able to finish it for technological reasons: the game suddenly stopped working on vista X64 after a particular update and Im not able to get my hands on the repairing update because Im only 19 and that means my internet access is cencored and prevents me downloading patches for adult games.

Are you serious? They censor your internet access?

  13. All that doesn't sound 56k friendly, & I prefer being in charge what version my games are & also I like it to be my choice what community I sign up with.

It's not nearly as bad as it sounds. The only time an update is mandatory is if there is a patch when you register the game. If an update is available when the game is first installed, it will automatically begin downloading it. And if a patch is available when a game is launched odds are it's something you'll need anyway. After that you can set that games update settings in the Update tab of the games properties.

Once a game has been updated you can also make a backup of the game files if you want, so you won't have to update again if you delete the game.

Same thing with Steam Community. If you don't want chat or to have your friends list in game, it can be disabled on the General tab of the games properties.

Overall Steam is a lot better, and more user friendly than many people realize. It makes having a ton of games a lot easier to manage.
