  1. Last week i finally got around to uninstalling FOMM, deleting all the old mods (old versions anyway) and resintalling FNV and FO3. Obviously i had ToTW in mind...

     

    SO grabbed NMM and started from scratch. Glad to say the process was fun and relatively painless. I have FNV up with 90ish mods and having fun. Making my way to FO3, which i hear has a train deprating from close to the Strip somewhere. :)

     

    Anyway, i just made it past the 188, "escorting" a caravan in exchange for.. well safety in numbers... Now i get a constant CTD / Freeze when going north of 188. The caravan doesn't follow the road, it heads through the wilderness. As soon as it steps off the road - crash.

     

    Any suggestions?

  2. Hi All. I just wanted to clarify something to avoid any trouble. Can i include resources in my mod that is taken from the original game? In short, i copied and renamed a few sound files from the original game just to make my life easier while modding, since i got confused with the original names. You cannot play this game without the BSA's that contain these files in this first place.

     

    If this is a problem, how is it different from copying an item in the GECK and including it in my mod? Surely redistributing these resources are inherent in modding, which the game creator encourages.

  3. Just a quick question about Special Ops: There are 3 parts to this, the controller, the rangefinder and the detonator; but i can't see the point of the rangefinder. When i select the controller it gives me a menu with a list of option so i choose update coordinates and after that it says coordinates updated. The rangefinder has no effect if i try to use it and the detonator just release the missiles - right on top of me unfortunately. So it always updates to the position i used the controller at.

     

    Is this correct behaviour? Is there any way to fix it? IF not, wtf is the rangefinder for?

  4. vyebrows gives excellent advice. I drastically improved my experience using CASM. Also, the error correcting patches didn't work for me - well they did on the vanilla game, but on a heavily patched one i found them to do "less" good - however, this is not a criticism of those mods or their authors.

     

    Lastly, i had some bad crashes in those areas - specifically around the medical clinic and crimson. I found AWOP to be the culprit, but only because i was running an old version. Have you updated your mods and especially AWOP recently? I did a complete update of all mods and reinstalled everything (to be safe) and in the end lost zero hours of playing time.

  5. Hi Azrael. I will update those two. How do you personally keep your mods up-to-date? Do you just scour nexus everyday to look for updates? I use BOSS to autosort my mod list and that is what i get. I don't know why it puts nSkies up there. Thanks for the advice - will try it asap.

     

    edit*** Ok, i had a look at what my merged patch included as masters and started by disabling those mods - it just makes sense to start with the things that causes conflicts. Through this process of elimination i found A World Of Pain to be the culprit. So i will be updating that and also starting a process of updating all my mods. Generally, i am sluggish in updating mods - both due to the time and the bandwidth requirements (go africa!!).

     

    So to anyone else reading this trying to solve similar problems:

     

    1) start looking at the mods that a merged patch patches

    2) update your mods

  6. Is this only open to people who have modded for a while or can anyone get involved? I am looking to get into modding and will be starting tutorials soon. Will be glad to help if i can, but won't be much help at first. :-)
  7. I am experiencing CTD's in the world space around the NV Medical Facility / Crimson Caravan and generally that whole area on that side of The Strip. I noticed a half-finished race-track of some sort inside a newly fortified area that is still unpopulated at the back of the Medical Facility. I don't know which mod adds this. Any suggestions would help to narrow it down. If i know which mod, i can try to find the problem. Included below is my mod list.

    *** edit: I have experienced crashes around Crimson Caravan, New Vegas Medical Facility, Sharecropper Farms and ESPECIALLY Freeside's East Gate. I am guessing one of those mods causes a problem in that cell around that gate, as it is in the middle of all these crashes. What could cause this and how can i try to find the culprit?

  8. Eventually decided to remove all my mods, reinstall and reinstall all the mods, make a merged patch (NOT master update) and use the fake fullscreen "mod".

     

    So i can't say how to fix the issue or even what caused the issue, simply that it's all better now. :-) I have my suspicions of Beyond the Borders - that mod really messed up navmeshes. However, i can't say for certain.

  9. Thanks quicksilva. I have been thinking that i might need to remove all the mods and start over. A couple of hours was spent in NVEdit to get it to where it is now and it is a lot mroe stable. At one point i was getting crashes every 10 minutes or so, then down to once an hour and now it's mostly error free - except for this House Resort issue. So it is very discouraging to think i need to go back through all that again. However, if that is what is needed, then that is what i will have to do i guess.

     

    So am i right in saying that no-one is really sure which mod causes the problem with House Resort?

    So you are saying BOSS doesn't/can't deal with "master updating" the mods?

     

    So you have identified the problem - any suggestions on how to fix it?!

     

    Edit*** Forgot to mention: the building i cannot enter is House Resort. Thought i'd throw that in there in case someone is searching for a solution to a similar problem. :-)

  11. Hi Fonger. I would like to believe that also, but unfortunately that is not the case. I updated BOSS and ran it again. It definitely places esm's after eps's and then the load analyzer tool informs me that some of those esp's loaded before the esm's rely on the esm's - so there's a problem right there.

     

    HOWEVER: it might have something to do with me running master update and that turning some esp's into esm's (it gives that "this extension is esp but the header says esm" message.) Also, the load order report doesn't seem to recognise a bunch of my mods - things like Project Nevada; so i don't know if that is weird or not.

     

    The problem still persists - black screen - no images and an infinite load. Really sucks. I don't really want to remove mods until i find the culprit as that could rly mess up my save. Also don't feel like removing all the mods (and all the FEdit work) and starting with a fresh batch of mods.

  12. @Fonger - i do have BOSS installed... after a certain number of mods it just starts putting them at the end. I didn't know about the .esm and .esp thing, but it makes sense seeing the .eps's patch the .ems's.

     

    @nahtanoJ Should i just try and move the .esm's higher up or is there a specific approach here?

     

    Thanks to you both for the replies. I have been playing Fallout for a long time and modding it since Fo3, but i only recently decided to get more informed by doing a few tutorials and using FEdit... so this is relatively new to me. Eventually i want to get into modding.

  13. Hi All.

     

    So one or two posts mentioning camp golf, but couldn't find a good answer to the problem. Running a couple of mods (mentioned below) and can't seem to enter the building at Camp Golf. Have tried entering from the front door and have also movetoqt up to the balcony to speak to Hanlon. Now Hanlon has gone to his office where i have to meet him. Tried waiting an hour and again used movetoqt to try getting straight into his office and skipping the building, but same result. Same result also achieved from using door on balcony. Any advice would be appreciated.

  14. Thanks a lot guys! That is great advice. I feel like every post there taught me something new. I suspect that the problem might be between EVE and Weapon Modifications Extended. I am going through the FNVEdit process and noticed that there were some issues there. The mentioned laser pistol had a short range scope attached to it. So even though the problem is solved now, i am going to try these techniques in any case just to get familiar with them. :-)

  15. OK I have an update on this issue. Got all the items moved from ED-E to myself and through a process of elimination i discovered the culprit is a modified laser pistol. So now i have this item in my inventory and i get a CTD if i move the mouse over it. Is there a way to find out what the problem is or to just drop it / remove it from the game? I can't move my mouse over it.

     

    ***Edit: decided to load an earlier save - just less effort than trying to fix this... will check later to see if i can replicate it by modding a laser pistol.

  16. The problem was related to NV Interiors - West Vegas Fringe.esp - i disabled that mod and the problem stopped.

     

    I didn't know that those were pre-order packs. I got them on a torrent site listed under "update" - i thought it was some update to the game (silly considering i have the steam version installed). Turned out to be those packs... then just never bothered removing them again. The canteen is pretty useful. :-)

  17. I have a few mods running (listed below). When accessing ED-E's inventory, i get a CTD. This started happening very recently. I was in The Underground (mod) and picked up a bunch of stuff from the Skeleton Crew - some of that stuff are from mods, but i can't confirm. I had to much stuff to haul back and loaded some into poor 'ol ED-E. He must be pretty upset about it, because now when i want to access his inventory he crashes my world. :-P I should also note that the only relevant thing that happened in this time (regarding ED-E) is i got the message from the Followers and the BoS regarding ED-E's data.

     

    Anyway, i was just wondering if there is a way to get items out of a container using the console?

  18. All of a sudden i am getting CTDs when leaving interior cells. I have not added any new mods or any major changes which leaves me puzzled. The largest change i can think of is getting cass as companion. Listed below are mods i'm using. Should also mention that i sometimes get a CTD before the game even starts that i think is related to the sound, as the crash happens at the moment the sound should start playing. This CTD however has been happening since day one and does not seem to be related to the new problem. My game is not updated to the newest version, but that is not a small matter with a slow internet connection, so please don't suggest it lightly. Getting Steam to run in off-line mode means i can game and as soon as i have to go online for an update it could mean days or even weeks without gaming (i am not kidding).
