  1. In response to post #17559139. #17570074 is also a reply to the same post. We've had an automated server selection/queue in place, but people said manual server selection was better... so we reverted to a manual selection list (and because people click continuously on the download links this overloads the servers even more than usual, expecially compared to the automatic server selection). The mod you are trying to download, was it uploaded recently? It takes some time to sync the new files to the fileservers. We have an experimental system in place you can try by clicking "Experimental: download using CDN" that uses an external network to download files, have you tried it?
  2. In response to post #16704799. #16710199 is also a reply to the same post. The process is performed in parallel. You can use 1 scanner or 100 scanners per file and it will still take the same time to scan them all (the enqueued files).
  3. In response to post #16560239. #16560544 is also a reply to the same post. The passwords are not stored in our database. What we store is the result of a very complex set of mathematical functions. Every time you insert your password we run those functions again and check if the result is the same as the value we have in our database. Even if someone could access the database the password is not written anywhere and in order to get it back by running that math function in reverse they need months/years for *each* password. This makes it extremely inconvenient for an attacker to try and steal a password by hacking the database. For the tech-savy: your passwords are hashed and salted several times.

  5. In response to post #16450037. Unfortunately no, it was not an update. We've had some networking issues and because it's not under our direct control we could only force a maintenance mode until the situation became stable again. Right now we have enough "network capacity" available for the website to be usable but not every server is currently up yet so expect hiccups and slowness until we can solve this problem for good (tomorrow, probably, given it's 3:30 AM right now here).
  6. In response to post #15940985. #15943120, #15944040, #15946380, #15994885, #16037245, #16052530, #16072985 are all replies on the same post. So is the problem in this case not showing a list of (mostly busy) fileservers?
  7. In response to post #15940985. #15943120, #15944040, #15946380, #15994885, #16037245 are all replies on the same post. It was a problem for us when specific fileservers crashed regularly because people tended to use some more than others. We also have a badwidth cap on each fileserver and we needed to balance the spread over all of them otherwise that would have caused a chain reaction of instability and failures.
  8. In response to post #16004315. Please don't jinx the Nexus! Who knows what could happen after that? :P
  9. In response to post #15997615. #16000795 is also a reply to the same post. Sorry, "normalmember2" was me under a test account -_- Getting old...

  11. In response to post #15940985. #15943120, #15944040, #15946380 are all replies on the same post. What difference makes if we give you an error message immediately or a list of "busy" server that are not clickable/usable anyway? The reason why you get the error is because ALL of the servers are at 100% usage. You *cannot* choose another server manually. *All* of them are at 100% load because of the steam sales. I'm constantly increasing the number of slots available to each server but every time I increase that number the server is one step nearer a painful death due to memory being exhausted and swapping. I'm sorry we are having technical difficulties due to the high load, but I guarantee you there's nothing you would be able to do with a manual download list compared to what the automatic download offers you right now.
  12. In response to post #15956080. You get a Salt Lake server becase all of the UK ones are overloaded at that particular time. The alternative would be to give you an error saying: "We're sorry, your european servers are overloaded, try again" but a lot of users would be way less happy with that.
  13. In response to post #15388020. #15389065 is also a reply to the same post. The back arrow sending you to the top downloads is definitely a bug, thanks for reporting! Improving fileservers stability is at the top of the current list of priorities so expect the situation to get better soon!
  14. There was indeed a small bug, quickly fixed. Everything should work as it used to now. Thanks!

  16. I'm sorry, that was my fault. I was trying (as always) to squeeze some performance out of the website to make it load faster and the change I made had the side effect of breaking the supporter section. I needed some time to make a proper fix instead of a quick workaround (as I needed the new code and so I couldn't simply revert the changes back) but now it should work. Sorry again people :(
  17. In response to post #10468251. You can communicate with the NMM staff using this link: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/tracker/project-3-mod-manager-open-beta/ You can find it from the forums, too: Bug Reports (button on top/right) -> "Mod Manager - Open Beta"
  18. Oh and I almost forgot: even if linking to "www.nexusmods.com" from now on will be better, I'll try to put some fixes in place so the old links will work again. I'll try to do that between tonight and tomorrow (yeah, sleep is overrated...)
  19. Just managed to put a temporary fix in place that will make the site usable again. While this is still far from ideal, it will hopefully hold for the weekend while I work on something better. Every now and then you will still encounter some delay while loading the pages, but that's unfortunately all I can do right now. I'm aware of the problem the old version of NMM has with downloads (you guys are having problems with the 0.45.7, right?) and I'll try to fix it later on, but if you still cannot download the 0.46.0 version should be able to. If you have problems with the 0.46.0 instead then that's yet another bug to fix. More (hopefully good) news to follow.
  20. Should be fixed on XCOM. I'm sending the fix to the other websites with the same problems and the stats will be correctly recalculated shortly. Thanks for reporting!
  21. Is that a "clean" installation? Have you installed any mod or modified the ini files in any other way than fNearDistance? Have you checked your video drivers are up to date?
  22. Is anybody able to get the exact address of the exe file when it does start downloading? If you are using firefox, for example, you should be able to right click the file in the download manager and "Copy link" or something similar. This would greatly help us identifying where this file is originated from.

  24. It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of the newest Nexus website, Legends of Grimrock Nexus, through my proxy, Axel. Legends of Grimrock is a great throwback to the era of Dungeon Master style games, where you control a party of up to four characters and delve into the mysteries and puzzles of dungeons. For those of you who aren’t aware of Legends of Grimrock, here’s some of the blurb from the official site: “Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart but a modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exiling them to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to their captors, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations long perished now. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.” Legends of Grimrock is available for $14.99 right now from multiple different digital distributers, including Steam, GOG.com and Gamers Gate. The developers, Almost Human, are due to launch their modding tools that allows users to easily create their own dungeons and items for the game and share them with others very soon. Almost Human have also kindly given us access to the closed beta and versions of the game so that we could quickly set up a Nexus site and integrate the game in to our Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). If you’re new to the Nexus, NMM is our very simple to use mod management software that allows you to one-click install mods directly from the site and on to your computer, with no need to fuss about with zip files and folder placements. The latest version of NMM, available now, is fully compatible with Legends of Grimrock. At the moment the Grimrock Nexus site is quite bare as we’ve only just launched, and the open beta for the modding kit has only just started. I will be working closely with the Grimrock modding community to get the site up to scratch as soon as possible and ensure we can provide the very best and most feature rich service for all the mod authors out there. If there’s anything you think the site needs, just let me know. PS. sorry I couldn’t do this in person, I’m currently travelling until the end of the week so have sporadic internet. I’m around all week for Nexus work, though :)
