I just don't like being guided like a car navigation. I don't want precise GPS positioning in my Zone. I want to be able to look at the map without spoiling my personal sense of direction and position.
Editing the marker icon to nothing would be a first step, but ideally I'd see the auto-zoom-and-pan on map open disabled.
I know it is a PDA, not a paper map. But I really like it to feel more like looking at a paper map. The good old days when I had to put screenshots taken from google maps on my no-internet motorolla flip phone, and navigate trough them using a real compass and a lot of guessing...
