  1. Don't like virtualization, never will. I don't use "profiles", I don't have multiple characters playing through a game at once that I need to hotswap mods for.. I don't do any of that stuff. Maybe some people do, but I'd assume they're a minority. I have all my mods on a large, slow RAID array. They can't be virtualized from it because it would heavily impact game performance. Sure, maybe I can set the virtualization folder to be in the same place the game is installed.. but that's just defeating the entire point. There's nothing wrong with having the actual files in the actual directories; anything other than that can, and has, caused problems. Options options options.. Giving users options is the best thing you can do in software development.. and unfortunately seems to be one of the hardest things to do for the majority of developers.
  2. In response to post #50331052. #50346087, #50349212, #50352762, #50354897, #50396902, #50400432, #50411567, #50421772 are all replies on the same post. 16:9 is a fading aspect ratio. 21:9 is the future. RIP the 16:10 PC aspect ratio. Maybe one day we'll get 21:10 for proper support of everything.
  3. "Coming back and starting on a fresh install" Meanwhile I've downloaded over 750 mods and never played the game once.. Damn consolitis. *sigh*
  4. I am the admin; every program runs with administrator privileges by default. It still isn't working. Just to test, I tried to run mod buddy as administrator even through it wasn't needed. It now debugs properly and doesn't throw an "application error" as shown in the screenshot above. In fact, I can run it normally again and it doesn't screw up anymore. Wtf? I've never seen something like this happen. Firaxis continues their trend of being incompetent in technical design.. Edit: Running it through Steam is causing the error. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with administrator mode. Then there's also this little problem: https://forums.2k.com/showthread.php?4285689-XCOM-2-editor-is-hardlocking-my-system This whole thing is a mess.
  5. I run everything admin and it's not working. Really seems like the editor got busted as DLC got released and they haven't even cared to fix it.
  6. I just replied in a different thread about this issue.. So they broke it with an update; that's amazing. Glad I didn't try to reinstall the entire game and dev kit which would've been a 100GB re-download and re-write to my SSD.. Still, got a bunch of missing file warnings when it started up:
  7. I'm having the exact same issue that jgbaxter is; pretty much identical log files. Nothing's resolved it. By comparison, I run the actual UDK just fine, so something's buggered up with XCOM 2's editor and there's absolutely no information out there to fix it.
  8. I started using an adblocker (along with noscript) about 7 years ago after I was infected by a malicious ad on a site I trusted. It resulted in me getting an important account compromised, twice, which included a leak of all my real personal information (instead of just my online alias' information; a practice I started using due to site hacking becoming prevalent). I was forced to reinstall Windows and start a completely fresh browser install (instead of continue with my old history I keep as I'm an archivist). I go out of my way to block ads, because I will never risk something like that happening ever again. Since then, I've never been infected by anything; and I don't use an anti-virus. That said, I'm a supporter of the site, so this is moot here, but I just wanted to speak out on why I personally use an adblocker, and will for the foreseeable future.
  9. Mockup looks like another generic "modern" site. The Nexus UI is fine; there's no need to change it. It's clear and has a good contrast between everything. The "modern" look removes contrast, removes separation and turns everything into big floating boxes. It's not good for clarity. Sure, it helps mobile users since everything's bigger; but at the detriment of everyone else. I just want that stupid tabbing system that puts tons of garbage URLs in our browser history to go away (along with the ?'s on every URL). That, and a big improvement on the searching system. Those are the only two gripes I really have with the site, beyond minor QoL tweaks.
  10. The new XCOM was terrible. Long War saved it, but it still had tons of flaws. XCOM2 looks like the game the new XCOM should've been. Still has flaws and design decisions I don't like (2 move system, no inventory, simplistic base building which is even more simplified than the original), but it looks like it will now actually be a good game without mods. And, they finally embraced modding I hear, so the game should become even better over time.
  11. In response to post #30818995. #30847995, #30850560, #30858085, #30858235, #30877985, #30884560, #30905605, #30920560, #30932150 are all replies on the same post. @ Yggdrasil7557: I've been using the site since Oblivion. It's gone through hell numerous times. The worst I've experienced was with Skyrim. NMM constantly freezing, even crashing because of connection issues with the Nexus site. Downloads were failing, and if they managed to download, they came bare, no descriptions, it couldn't retrieve data for them and some even just broke outright. The site itself was barely usable, always failing to load pages, tabs.. it was an absolute nightmare. Go back and read through the older posts they've made about it. They said they finally fixed it all after all these years, but it was clear that wasn't the case as the release of FO4 support for NMM caused the same issues it did back then, albeit not as crippling. Only the NMM was mostly unusable (freezing for long periods of time, downloads failing to start, data failing to be retrieved), with the site only delaying/hanging for periods of time. My simple comment was made because I posted on the article about FO4 support for NMM. Maybe I should've copied it here instead of left it with one that apparently attracted much ire for what appears to be fanboy attitude people.

  13. ..and it still bogs down heavily during peak hours, which still renders NMM nearly unusable. Progress!
  14. I miss the convenience of one click downloads and seeing if a mod is updated without manually tracking everything I download and checking the website. Is that enough to push me to install .6x alongside the old version and deal with swapping between them? Possibly...possibly. I'd have to workaround the unwanted profiling system though..
