  1. In response to post #24696144. #24716439 is also a reply to the same post. Most definitely. A lot of mod authors release alphas and even pre-alphas for players to playtest or provide feedback or help with coding etc. I loved that about the modding community, because it was just everyone working together to improve the game or to make a shared vision of the game come true.
  2. From Beth Blog: "We are always looking for new ways to expand modding." Improving the Creation Kit and the GECK (especially the GECK, that thing is a crashfest) and maybe releasing other modding resources and utilities would be the way to expand modding. Paid mods where you got approximately 50% is expanding revenue.
  3. I'm mostly curious about the effect this will have on future modding. I would definitely pay for some of the mods I currently use but the interesting thing is, I would not have downloaded most of said mods if they were initially put behind a paywall. A lot of mods I only came to appreciate after using them for many hours of play. For example, I find SkyUI & SKSE pretty essential and definitely don't mind giving a few dollars to the creators, but if they were initially put behind a paywall, I would have likely never even tried them. Wonder if mod authors will have free trial periods for their mods.
  4. So a few questions about the whole steam workshop mod paywall... 1. What happens if a mod is released behind a paywall but uses resources from another mod that is free? What happens if those resources are later put behind a paywall? 2. What rights does a person obtain by buying a mod? I often download mods just for their resources to make my own mods. Would I then be prohibited from releasing the mod for free? Would I be prevented from selling the mod? Would my 25% be further divided to pay a percentage to the creators of the resources (i.e. what Bethesda is essentially doing)? 3. Is there a trial or demo system or a refund system? 95% of the mods I download on nexus I don't end up keeping after I realise I don't like them. 4. Will users be able to keep using (legally) mods they downloaded while they were free before the author decided to put them behind a paywall?
  5. I'm currently trying to edit a location in the CK. The place in question has one of those civil war maps with those red and blue flags that change colour depending on the progress of the civil war quest. You can activate them to update your map as well. However, these flags do not appear in the CK at all so I can't for the life of me find a way to delete them or move them. I can delete the map and the table the map sits on (and basically everything around the flags) but in game the flags still show up floating in mid air. I would have thought they were activators but they don't seem to even show up in the right list in cell view (unless they're called something deceptive). Can anyone help? In case you're not sure what I'm talking about, these are the flags I'm referring to: http://images.uesp.net/a/aa/SR-item-Civil_War_Map.jpg
  6. Is it based on the statistic of the armor or the armor's gold value?
  7. Thanks, that did the trick. Only I set the exp cap to 561000 to account for those races with higher ECLs.
  8. So I noticed that if I start a new campaign for the original NWN2, any characters I have that are over level 20 from MotB or SoZ don't appear on the list of character available to be imported into a new game. Is there anyway around this?
  9. The annoying thing is I bought Neverwinter Nights 2 and Mask but don't have Storms of Zehir or Mysterious of Westgate. Not wanting to by the D&D Ultimate pack (as I also already have all the old D&D games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale etc etc) I looked a bit further and you can buy the "D&D Anthology: Neverwinter Nights Complete" from impulse/gamestop. This also includes NWN1 and all it's expansions, which was unfortunate for me since I also have all those games so I essentially paid for a complete package just to get Storms of Zehir and Mysteries of Westgate, but it beats buying te D&D Ultimate Pack, unless of course you want the other games as well. Alternatively you can buy them on Amazon/Ebay but I personally prefer digital downloads and you never know with some ebay sellers.
  10. The Tidus Mede line descended from a Colovian warlord who invaded the Imperial City and crowned himself emperor while the Empire was weak. Arguably, the line also ran the empire poorly. As hinted in the game, his assassination may result in the crowning of a stronger Emperor for the Empire. And yes, this belongs in the spoiler section.
  11. I was thinking about adding Icewind Dale music into Skyrim. The music is set for a cold fantasy land and they're even composed by Jeremy Soule. But I was wondering if it was legal to do so as a mod. I own both games and the original company that made Icewind Dale (Black Isle Studios) is now defunct. Obviously I would give credit to the composer and source the original game where it came from but just wondering whether it's something the Nexus would allow. I prefer not to get banned for something like that. Music can be heard here:
  12. You can't get it in the game. It's from a mod: Spell Tome - Apocalypse V2
  13. I just disable it. It's not hard to make your own backup of your save and .ini file to keep your settings. Also by disabling it you don't have to deal with that never-ending sync error whenever steam is down for maintenance which stops you playing the game while online for the duration of the maintenance.
  14. No doubt outside the recording booths of Bethesda there is a vending machine that charges that charges $1000 per bottle of water.
  15. I enjoy killing them and would hate to run out of them.
  16. If I'm going by D&D cliches, half elves live up to 400 years or so? I'm really curious about Argonians. I assume they live longer than the "human" races since crocodiles can live just over a hundreds years and of course there's the galapogas that apparantly lives 170-200+ years.
  17. Not sure if this is the right forum but since there's no general lore thread I thought I'd post here. Is there any information on how long the Elder Scroll races live? I'm going to assume Imperials and Nords live about as long as humans do. Healthy elves supposedly up to a 1000 years (does this extend to Orcs?). Also, since I love Argonians, I'm wondering how long they would live. Who is the oldest known living Argonian and how old is he? Any information would be welcome.
  18. Thanks for the replies. @Blessing, ty for screenshot. I just want to delete them because I like to keep only necessary data in my mods. I'm a bit pedantic that way.
  19. Sounds like a bit of a silly question but I simply can't find it. I know for Oblivion it was under "Character" > "Packages", but it's not there for Skyrim. I made some accidental packages and I want to delete them from the packages list.
  20. I have the GotY edition and I can confirm that it won't ask for Disk 2 as it isn't necessary to play the game. Disk 2 from memory is solely Shivering Isles. *Edit* Disk 2 also has Knights of the Nine I think. So SI and Knights on Disc 2.
  21. Do you have texture packs installed? Do you crash at specific places or upon specific actions? Have you tried turning down your graphics? Have you tried Oblivion Stutter Remover? Do you often load from autosave and quicksave? The fact that the crashes happen more frequently upon loading your saves seems to be a strong indication that it's a savegame corruption. Try starting a new game just as a test and see if you crash just as frequently.
  22. IMHO, the only worthwhile features of Streamline are Streampurge and Streamsave. It's other features are really only designed for very old computers that just manage to run oblivion and Streamline makes those computers play smoother. If you have a relatively decent setup, using the other features of streamline often result in a reduction of quality without any performance improvement. In fact it can make performance worse. Despite what streamline says, it really isn't an FPS booster. Oblivion Stutter Remover does that far better. Aside from the two aforementioned features I mentioned, I would actually be loathe to turn on Streamline's other features as they make changes to Oblivion's ini file. As changes to the ini file can cause crashes, save-game corruption and other undesirable things, you can see where I'm coming from. Also from what I can tell, Streamsave's saves are only safer than Oblivion's autosaves and quicksaves by virtue of the cell purging done by Streampurge.
  23. I've attached an image to show exactly what it is. It's near lake Rumare/Imperial Isle. Now I don't think it's an actual mod conflict because when you walk closer to the site, the land tear disappears and everything is fine, which leads me to believe it's some LOD thing. I want to try to fix it but I'm not sure where to begin looking. Would it be an LOD texture? Or an LOD Mesh? Or an .lod file? *Edit* To eliminate the possibility of mod conflict (including any LOD meshes or textures of anything from a mod), I did a fresh install of Oblivion on my laptop. Just vanilla Oblivion, no Unofficial Patch, no Texture Replacements, no TESLODGEN, just Oblivion - and the issue is still there. So I guess this means it's just part of the game (unless my CD has corrupt data D:<). So my question is then, are there any mods to fix this?
  24. Thanks for the suggestion. I think either I missed something or the CS is just strangely sensitive. I actually copied the AI script for the Fighter's Stronghold merchant in the Merchant's Inn in the IC Market District since he sells things from a cell not owned by him. Yet strangely it just doesn't work for my NPC (sadface). Anyway, did the 3 day away test (a week just to be safe and also used the console command to pcb) and the items I put in the chest/cell are still there so I guess that means either way my workaround works. Thanks Striker.
