In response to post #24862529. #24864589, #24864824, #24866544 are all replies on the same post. "Money eventually destroys everything." Right. Money destroyed the internet. I mean, a lot fewer people have broadband now and there a lot fewer sites to visit on the 'net than 20 years ag...umm. Well, money definitely destroyed the PC market. There are a lot fewer PC models to choose from and they're more expensive and less capable than they were 20 years ag...nope. Then money certainly destroyed video gaming in general. There a lot fewer games available on fewer platforms now than there were 20 years ag...uh, wrong again. "Greed is an amazing thing..." Yup, sure is. Especially for those who demand that others provide their time and effort to them for free. Doesn't get much greedier than that. " will not be forced to pay for them." Nobody has the power to force you to pay for a mod. Pure strawman argument. -
Steam and Bethesda remove paid modding from Skyrim Workshop

Those who treated mod authors so shabbily most assuredly owe those mod authors copious apologies. It's one thing to say "I don't like the idea of paid mods". It's quite another to say "I hope you die". Those who posted things like the latter owe apologies to the mod authors and to the community as a whole for the damage they've caused. -

In response to post #24734844. #24735134 is also a reply to the same post. Indeed, which makes Bethesda's ham-handed handling of the whole thing doubly puzzling. They took a potential win-win and turned it into a lose-lose. -

You seem to lack the strength of conviction to uninstall it, but you'll trash the authors and say "I won't upgrade". Pretty weak sauce. -

In response to post #24733934. #24734419, #24734709 are all replies on the same post. Why on earth would you believe that isoku or any one else owes you an apology? Quite a sense of entitlement you're carrying around there. -

If modding does come to an end, it will be folks like you with your pitchforks, torches, tar and feathers who end it with your demands for "ideological purity". You and your ilk have already driven Chesko, the author of Frostfall and other outstanding mods, out of the community completely. On the other hand, you, I note, have never published a mod. Again I ask, who is more greedy? The modders who have put thousands of hours and real money into modding or people like you who demand that the results of that work be provided to you for free? -
In response to post #24657179. #24657319 is also a reply to the same post. Exactly. Gopher makes a living creating content. I'm completely fine with that and am a happy consumer of his product. So why are modders, who also create content, somehow evil demons for trying to do the same? The mind boggles.

Thanks, Dark0ne, for the fully documented and well-reasoned post. I gave up on reading comments, so much absolute fail! I especially love the folks who talk about greed and selfishness. Who is more greedy and selfish, the person who wants you to pay a couple bucks for something he or she has poured thousands of hours and real money into, or the people who demand that the result of that process absolutely MUST be provided to them for free? I submit the latter category is the more greedy and selfish.

Valve/Bethesda announce paid modding for Skyrim, more games to follow

Brumbek, I understand your position. You've put in a ton of work on SMIM and you certainly have kept it supported and working. You certainly deserve compensation for your work, but does Steam/BethSoft deserve 75% of the proceeds? -

In response to post #24565844. Completely agree. Just because one disputes the wisdom or ethics of this does not give one leave to personally attack those with a different viewpoint. -

In response to post #24565569. I applaud your stand, especially in light of the exceptional quality of your work. Question is, what recourse will you have if someone releases a paid mod using any of your resources? -
Staff account compromise. What's happened and an apology.

Tip o' the hat to Staff. That's some mighty impressive response time. Thanks again for all your oft unappreciated efforts. -
NMM 0.47.0 "forced" update to fix the download issues
SirTopas replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Just upgraded after getting the "This version of NMM..." message. That freaked me out a bit initially, but that's why God invented News posts. Worked like a champ, NMM started right up. One click login worked fine. I'm sure it'll take me a bit to discover all the new goodness, but looks like a winner. I couldn't imagine trying to manage my mods without NMM. Thanks dev troops! Edit: Given how far NMM has come in the last couple of years, one can only speculate what NMM 1.0 will be like. "Psychic Mod Manager, here's the mod we knew you'd want!" -
Noticed that there a lot of files that seem to be permanently stuck in "File Syncing". For example, Wet and Cold 1.3.2.1, which was uploaded over 48 hours ago, shows regular servers and Kent premium server. All other premium servers have showed "File Syncing" for the past two days.
-
Looks like no Skyrim files have made it to any US servers in more than 24 hours. Only download options are Kent, two London servers and one Amsterdam server.
-
Performance has been really bad on the US premium download servers today. The Denver server will sometimes start at 1.1 Mb and then repidly fall off to less than 400 Kb. The Denver2 server starts at ~500 Kb and then falls off to less than 250 Kb. Sometimes both servers will start at ~250 Kb and never improve. Just letting the Powers That Be know.
-
Thanks, troops! Having spent the last 27 years in IS operational support, I know how frustrating it can be to track down issues. Could you perhaps pass along a list of the key players in this effort so we can hand out some well-deserved kudos?
-
Hey folks. The Skyrim Nexus is logging me out every minute or two. Log in, click on a mod, read the description, try to download and get "you must be logged in..." message. This has happened several times tonight. I know you've got a lot going on, please add this to the list.
-
Hey folks! I don't know what you just did to the download process (noticed the denver2 premium server), but it absolutely rocks! Thanks for doing what you do!
-
Thanks for the update. Murphy's Law strikes again! I'm glad you had a good holiday and sorry you returned to jump straight into a crisis of sorts.
-
Files uploaded twelve hours or more ago still receive the "New files can take up to an hour to propogate" message, which is doubly frustrating after waiting so long to even get a response. The Updated Files list is no longer showing icons that let us know what's actually been updated. Site performance is overall very poor.

Need help troubleshooting Expanded Towns and Villages
SirTopas replied to Lederberg's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
No problem, I understand completely. At any rate, I decided to install BOSS and run my load order through that. Let's see if that cures what ails my game. Thanks. -

Sorry, didn't mean to step on any toes. It wasn't my intent to blame this mod for anything. I'm sure it has to do with something I've done. -

Just wanted to throw something in here which may or may not be relevant. I'm having a very similar issue with this mod. I just started a new game and wanted to give the updates a whirl. I can run any two of the esps with no issues. As soon as I add a third, the crashes start.
