Good day, I recently decided it would be a good idea to pick up this infamous game and give it a shot. Now, as most of you I suppose, I have the PC version, and playing with a mouse and keyboard (even with the mouse fix mod) is feeling somewhat disappointing. So I decided to dust off my Logitech Rumblepad 2 controller, and give that a try. Safe to say, things haven't worked out. The short version is that with the controller plugged in (tried different USB ports as well as computer reboots and such), the game automatically crashes once I open it. I've tried it with the plain vanilla dark souls, I've tried it with DSfix installed, I've tried it with DSfix and x360ce (an emulator I need in order for the controller to have logically assigned keys), and I've tried it without DSfix and with x360ce. None of this works. On the other hand, as soon as I unplug the controller, all of these permutations work. I've tried basically everything that I can think of, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to proceed? I'd be very, very grateful for any support!

Hmm.. Should I list what I´m running in what order? Nothing should be interfering in principle, as far as I can tell.. -EDIT- I have resolved my issue. It was rather stupid. I did not realize that when using profiles in ModOrganizer, the skyrim.ini file I had to edit would not be the one in the my documents\games folder, but inside the actual ModOrganizer folder. I used the .ini tweaks BOSS recommends, and it is all fine now. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for the reply. I should have been more clear, I already put it in without the notes, and that didn't work sadly.

Good day, Today, I finally had the guts to start a fresh installation and use SkyRe to make my new playthrough a little more interesting. My idea was to play as an archer, and go for either daggers or 1-hand swords for melee situations. However, I'm having quite some issues with the archery.. In relatively close combat, all is fine. I'm talking maybe 20 yards. I aim my crosshair at the person, and the arrow lands. However, when the targets are further away, my arrows go -much- higher than my crosshair aims. They literally fly over the targets and they don't even notice being shot at. I'm not sure if this is intended, but even if it is, it feels very unintuitive for me. Correcting for gravity, sure. Correcting for your arrows going way higher just feels weird. Now I've tried several things to fix this. The first thing I tried was listenting to BOSS, which comments that Note: If you have a problem with aiming try to install this mod.Note: To make aiming easier add the following lines to Skyrim.ini:Note: [Actor]Note: fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=12288.0000Note: [Combat]Note: f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.64Note: f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.64Note: fMagnetismStrafeHeadingMult=0.0Note: fMagnetismLookingMult=0.0Now, I tried installing the mod (and letting BOSS sort again), the problem didn't change. I tried adding those lines to the ini file, didn't change. I tried using both the mod and the ini changes, the problem persisted. I even went as far and tried using the AutoAim mod from the same author as ProperAim, but even that did not work. Through google I found a similar thread http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/885226-skyre-archery/ but the changes from that also did not help me. It might be worth noting that I am aiming in first person, and it feels as if the problem gets even worse when I zoom in. Also, I know that SkyRe recommends not using a crosshair at all, but I kind of want to. If anyone has any ideas as to what else I could try, I'd be very grateful!

Blue screens of death upon loading saves
kardolus replied to kardolus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Hmm... Well, as I had this error right from the start with Oblivion, I can't really say I changed any drivers or something. I use the latest version of all of them though. Controller wise.. I do have a Belkin Nostromo N52TE connected to my computer. And I play with a G5 mouse. I suppose I could try disconnecting the N52TE (It's like, a mini keyboard, with hotkeys positioned in an easy to reach way. I haven't used it for Oblivion yet tho, but still) I don't suspect my Anti Virus either I'm afraid, ran a scan yesterday and came up clean. Still, I find the fact that I can load a game while already in game, pretty darn odd. -
Blue screens of death upon loading saves

Somehow, it seems that it either comes down to faulty hardware, faulty antivirus or faulty drivers.. .. the only issue is, I can't really identify any of those. Although it does point to faulty ram.. -
Blue screens of death upon loading saves
kardolus replied to kardolus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Aye, will be sure to do that. I ran chkdsk in read-only mode, and at the 67% part it gave me the message that errors were found and that it couldn't continue in read only mode. How shall I proceed? Edit: Interesting find. I will update the mainpost with this as well. I found out that if I load a game, while being inside a game (read: I have to start a new character and then load a game) the game doesn't give me a BSOD! It works just fine that way. Still, it's quite an annoyance to start a random character every time I want to load a game, but it's a start nonetheless. Also, I wrote down some more details from the BSOD, not sure if they might be useful. Blue screens of death upon loading saves
kardolus replied to kardolus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Hm, so either it's serious RAM issues (I suppose Memtest should have found that though, and other games show me no issues whatsoever, wouldn't that be odd? Just wondering about that really, I have no clue.) or I have to reformat my drive. Well, somewhere in the next few weeks I'll do a clean format anyway to install Windows 7, replace my E8400 CPU with a Q9550 and replace my Nvidia GTX 8800 with an ATI 5850HD. Funny thing is, I'm going to keep the ram. Bleh. -
Blue screens of death upon loading saves
kardolus replied to kardolus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Alright, thank you to all of you for your helpful replies. I've ran memtest for quite a few passes, but I'm afraid it came up with no errors. I also *recently* cleaned up my PC, including cleaning the RAM sticks, but I did again to be sure. No difference I'm afraid. I'm afraid the problem also occurs without any .esp's, but thank you for pointing out the Natural_Weather_by_Max_Tael.esp, I replaced that one. About the complete uninstall/reinstall, I'm afraid I already did it that way (apart from the defragmentation after the uninstall, but I do those twice a week, suppose I could still try that if it could make a difference..) and the problem still persists. I did it without preserving the mods, too. The .ini file has been reset quite a few times already as well I'm afraid. So the problem still persists. But still, thanks a bunch for all the help I've been receiving so far, and I hope that there are still more things to try! -

Thanks for your reply, but I'm afraid that they are off. :( Just for the heck of it, I tried enabling them, to see if that would change anything, but still the BSOD. -
Blue screens of death upon loading saves
kardolus replied to kardolus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Well, I did as you recommended and reinstalled it into a folder outside of the program folder structure (C:/Games/Oblivion), but it made no difference whatsoever I'm afraid. Still get the BSOD, just a few seconds after the loading screen pops up when loading a saved game, or clicking continue. Edit: Also, I guess it's correct to assume that UAC has no role in this for me, as I am using windows XP while UAC was introduced in windows Vista? -
Blue screens of death upon loading saves
kardolus replied to kardolus's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Hm, I'll try that. You think that's really gonna make the difference? That would be great I guess. Too bad I'll have to install all the mods again, but if works, it's more than worth it. For the record, the saves are located there, but I assume you were just making sure. -
Good day everyone, As of yesterday, I have started playing Oblivion. After having played about every single good game that came out in the past year(s), I thought it was time to give myself the pleasure of experiencing this piece of magic, even though I have some issues with looking at relatively bad graphics these days. (Not saying they are bad for when they came out, of course). Well this isn't related at all, so lets get to the point. If I exist the game and try to load a saved game, I get a blue screen of death. The error message I get is always page fault in non paged area. This is without any mods whatsoever, or with a ton of mods. No difference. This is with every single save file. Whether it is the quicksave, the autosave (I've disabled that after reading about the crash prevention etc.), the normal saves or even a downloaded save file from this website. I have tried the method described above about the corrupted saves, no success. I'm really not sure what to do at this point. I've done a clean reinstall too, no success. It might be worth noticing that I am using the game of the year edition, and that I have quite a few of the DLC's. I also have the latest version, of both the official and the unofficial patch. (Happened before installing the unofficial patch too). I have to note that I died once in the tutorial, and loading a save game then didn't give me a crash, which is a bit odd. I've added my boot order from Bash and a DXdiag to his post, in case that helps. I really hope there is a solution to this, as this game has a reputation well worth the effort. Edit: Interesting find. I found out that if I load a game, while being inside a game (read: I have to start a new character and then load a game) the game doesn't give me a BSOD!
