  1. On Monday, January 17th, 2011, my father, Johnathan Gunn, also known on this site as JohannesGunn, passed away in his sleep from stage IV renal cell carcinoma. He is survived by his wife, Susan Gunn, his five children, of which I am one, and eight grandchildren. Bye dad. We love you and miss you. Johnathan Gunn Born February 14, 1956 Died January 17, 2011 Rest in Peace.
  2. Merry Christmas to all, here's a bit of the Flavor of the South for yall on Christmas. http://www.wlox.com/Global/story.asp?S=1022468
  3. So, for about a week and a half now, I've had the same dream, or rather dream sequence. I'm in a clean room, assembling an ENORMOUS printed circuit board, about six feet long, four feet wide, in two layers separated by about six inches. In each successive dream, the circuit is a little more complete. I have no idea what the circuit does, or what it's for, I just know it's REALLY important... Unfortunately, I can never remember enough of the circuit to reconstruct it after I wake up.

  5. First, I would like to thank everyone that was kind enough to post, vote, PM, or otherwise respond to this poll and question. Without you guys, the Nexus would wither and die (or at least the forums would). I understand that some of you have opinions which are very deeply entrenched, and that you are unlikely to change your minds, but I would like to point out that most other people on this site ALSO have very deeply entrenched ideas, opinions, and feelings. It is not our task to change someone's mind for them, but merely to present the facts in a polite, considerate manner so that they can make their own minds up. As this thread has the possibility to get out of hand, and because I don't want to see anyone who posted here get strikes, or even banned, I am hereby requesting that the moderators lock this thread. Once again, I would like to thank all those who responded and/or voted.
  6. So, basically the consensus is that very few people would take an immortality pill? Huh.... I never would have guessed it.
  7. What If: Cows were plotting to take over Wisconsin, and stage a revolution of the dairy industry? Cats really DID have nine lives? People had nine lives? People had tails? We're all living in a video game?
  8. [#CSTART-9] There was an error connecting with the chat room. Please notify an administrator. Got it too, but got in after about five minutes.
  9. What If: Ninjas stole all the RAM in the world? :ninja: Electricity could be generated by chewing bubblegum? Rich people were really aliens trying to take over the world through junk food? All of the firearms in the world suddenly shot piranhas, instead of bullets? The guy who made that funny Amnesia video was just messing with our heads? The Statue of Liberty was made of Cheese? The Tower of London was made of Chocolate? Steam made your computer more powerful? Quantum Physics made sense?
  10. What if: We're all living in a giant snowglobe? Concrete suddenly took on the consistency and strength of Jello? Cars were made out of candy? Your house has a personality.... and it doesn't like you? Tinfoil beanies really DID keep them from reading your mind? The Incredible Hulk really existed... but was only three feet tall? The flu made you stronger? The constellations were really aliens playing an elaborate practical joke on us? The devil existed... and was working for the IRS?
  11. Uh... I was kinda looking for people with a more... fictional background... You know, like Darth Vader, or that guy from Saw...
  12. What if: Sheep were plotting to take over New Zealand, and shear the PEOPLE? Cheesecakes were an evil plot to take over the cosmos? Ducks flew backwards? God really DID talk to crazy people? Ferrets drank espresso? Poodles spoke with a French accent... in Russian? Sugar were poisonous? Catnip worked on people? Gremlins really existed, and really DID have an inordinate fondness for left socks?
  13. Uh, I think you're missing the point of this thread (such as it it). The goal isn't to have these questions answered, but to post silly, funny, or just plain weird "what-if" questions. And as for your responses, I'll take them in order... Chickens are MUCH easier to kill than a cow. Just because they can talk, doesn't mean bad things wouldn't happen to them. I mean, look at how many children are abused every year. Yes, jello WOULD considerably increase in value. Ever hear of Pack Hunters? Imagine five hundred hungry mice with sharp fangs... Yes, they HAVE walked the earth, but not recently. Wouldn't it be kinda cool to look out the window and see a compsygnathus or stegosaurus? I think after about a week, the focus would be back on which celebrity just got out of rehab.
  14. What if: Cats had opposable thumbs? Chickens tasted like beef? Dogs could talk? Cars ran on Jello? Mice were carnivorous? Dinosaurs walked the Earth? God really WAS one of us?
  15. Yeah, I was oversimplifying, but I AM aware of the differences between steel and titanium. I just think it is a better alternative than trying to build a space station from steel, and having to lift EVERY SINGLE LITTLE PIECE from the surface of the Earth. While there are better materials for building than titanium, and certainly cheaper ones, I firmly believe that if we don't find a way off this rock eventually, we humans, as a race, are doomed. And not necessarily by a comet, or asteroid, or anything like that. No, we're perfectly capable of destroying ourselves at the drop of a hat. So, for the people who want to bury their head in the sand and say that going ANYWHERE OTHER THAN EARTH is stupid and a bad idea, I say that stagnation is the brother of destruction. Unless we keep moving forward (and by forward, I mean outward to other parts of the solar system, and beyond), humanity will wither and die on the vine. This is all, of course, just my opinion...
