I originally posted this in the Bethesda Forums, I'm copying it directly from there: New Vegas kept crashing on startup. I would get to the Bethesda Softworks screen, and then it crashed, with "New Vegas has stopped working" message. I decided to reinstall the game. I'm installing form the original October 2010 disc. After it finished, Steam started to download the patch. But for some reason, Steam won't download the patch. It stays stuck at 70%, unless I pause and resume the download multiple times. If I do that, it downloads for about 30 seconds, then stops again, with only a few MB downloaded. Edit: Apparently, all I had to do was copy the DLC BSAs from the data backup I made before I uninstalled. Problem solved. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner.
