  1. I'll probably use both services if the workshop is worthwhile and doesn't do anything bizarre to alienate modders. I'm not given to throwing my hands in the air and running around hysterically claiming that the sky is falling, so instead, I'll wait and see. Might be nice to be able to manage my mods from Steam. Chances are the Nexus manager will still be better though. Bottom line is how the service treats the people that make the mods. If it doesn't create impediments for them and makes their work easily accessible, I'm in favour of it.

Yeah, kind of makes me wonder why it was so easy for a modder to come up with a simple fix to solve tons of client stability issues in one stroke while Bethesda seems incapable of doing the same with their own product. They will however, through their patches, happily disable said fix without a thought or care. This might well reintroduce the same stability issues again until the LAA mod con be updated. Would it not be easier for them just to do their damned jobs and not rely on modders for everything? What I would do if it were my franchise and I wanted the game to be received favourably, is build in that fix to the game to start with. If there's any valid rationale for running the game with 2GB, make it a start up option that a user can choose. Console users get their own version anyways so making a very simple fix for the PC would have no effect on them whatsoever. That's not even marketing, it's basic professionalism.
  3. 1. The combat interface is just godawful for switching gear and spells. As a result, I don't use magic at all in combat. 2. Crafting levels me way too fast. I'd like to see that toned down with respect to combat skills. 3. Companion pathfinding is so unpredictable that I spend half my time looking over my shoulder, just to be sure that my companion doesn't get hung up on some ankle high terrain piece. 4. Ownerless horses remain ownerless after I find them. I should be able to claim them and sell them to a stable. 5. Companions can't ride. Lydia: You must think you're pretty cool making me run around after you while you're up on your high horse. Me: Stop complaining. I offered to let you ride mine but you tried to kill it (ed. true story). Lydia: *grunt* ... I didn't like the way it was eyeing my taffy treats. 6. Dragons killing important townsfolk like smithies. Seriously, civilians should be fleeing to their homes or the nearest inn rather than hanging around sightseeing, or worse yet, trying to attack the beasts. 7. The severe limitations on hotkeying. 1 - 8? Get real. This only means that I have to constantly pause the game to load up skills and gear as needed, which really disrupts the flow of combat. 8. Inventory interfaces are clunky as hell. Default sort by name means a lot of useless scrolling through lists, especially when it comes to potions. And selecting menu options with a mouse sometimes results in the wrong selections because the mouse pointer is actually registered as hovering over something other than where I think it is. Me: Lydia, I think we should part company. Lydia: OK, I'll go home now. Seeya back in Whiterun!. Me: Wait! I didn't mean to say that! I meant, I want to see what you're carrying! Wait, WAIT ... !! 9. Can't craft multiples at the same time. I'm getting repetitive stress disorder from leveling alchemy, tanning hides and smelting ores. Should be able to set how many potions I want to create up front and have the option to craft all when it comes to tanning and smelting. 10. Can't force companions to equip specific gear and have to hope that what you give them is something they will use. Me: Lydia! What happened to that steel mace and shield a crafted for you?! Lydia: I prefer this nifty dwarven hammer. The color really brings out the highlights in my eyes. Me: But I made those for you to keep you from getting knocked out of combat all the time. Lydia: Well why did you give me this cool hammer then? Me: To hold, Lydia. JUST to hold! For a lesser game, the interface and hotkey issues alone would prevent me from playing. It's just such a headache trying to accomplish the simplest things at times. But damn, exploring the world is such a blast that it makes me forget how poorly some of the mechanics have been implemented. Thankfully, we have such dedicated modders who will eventually be able to address these shortcomings.
  4. I'm looking for something like this too. It takes way too many keypresses to swap weapons and spells in combat. It's fine if you don't mind pausing the game to go into your favorites and select/deselect what you want, but that's just way too damned slow for me. It's like playing Baldur's Gate back in the day where you would constantly be hitting the space bar to set up the actions for your group, then hitting it again when they've completed them. Nice for a tactical 3DI game, not for an FPS though. I'd like weapon sets so I always know what will be loading up, which hand it will be loading to, and so I can quickly change to a completely separate set with a single keypress. Keys 1-8 just aren't enough when either hand is being treated independently. With the amount of different weapon configurations multiplied by the number of in-combat spells there are, 8 hotkeys is nowhere near enough without semi-continuous game pausing. Hotkeying companion commands would also be a godsend, especially without the inane dialog feedback. Numpad 1 = WAIT; Numpad 2 = FOLLOW; Numpad 3 = TRADE; Numpad 4: STFU AND DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD; etc.
  5. I just started playing last night and ended up in the first little town near the river. I made the mistake of killing a chicken in town and now the population is on a murderous rampage. I couldn't talk them out of their insanity and I couldn't subdue them either. They would "pretend" to yield and limp away a few feet, then come right back at me for more. I ended up killing two questgivers while I was in retreat and ended up failing both quests and the town is still hostile. So first off, I killed a chicken. Is homicide the default reaction of all NPCs for such a piddly, stupid little misstep? Second, is there a way to chill them the hell out again? I certainly didn't want to start this character off with a bloodbath in the local hamlet, but that's the situation that was presented to me. Now, it looks like I have to restart the game because it's been irrevocably wrecked because I sacrificed the sacred poultry for my dinner plate. If the situation arises again, is there a way to deal with it that doesn't include large scale slaughter? Very irritating. It was just a damned chicken. I would have offered compensation if they'd have let me.
  6. How can they ruin their own lore, they created it, they decide what direction it goes in and your personal dislike is never going to change that. And then there are the posters in this topic saying that its a "problem" that needs "fixing". Really, if you see the art direction in Elder Scrolls as a broken part of the games then maybe you should be playing something else. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Mr. George Lucas... It is possible to wreck something that you've actually created yourself, but I'm not going to take sides on this particular issue because I'm not a TES lore junky. Just making a point of order. As for the look of the elves, I personally find them revolting. That being said, I simply prefer pretty looking elves. But I do respect others who prefer a more alien like appearance. It's just not for me. I'll be playing humans until a mod comes around to give me the fae elves that I can appreciate.
