Well, I still have no idea what happened but it works now. Got about 50 books already and am still going. Done with Skyrim so now I'm collecting works from Daggerfall and Morrowind. With those and the others I plan to add I expect at least 100 if not more :) Thanks for the help though Lanceor, I'll try that if it goes screwy again.

Tried making a much simpler book this morning. One word and it showed up and was intractable and everything. Don't get what the difference between the 2 books is...

I just downloaded the Oblivion Book Creator because I decided that I wanted to add the Skyrim books (and a few others) to my Oblivion library. Everything worked well up until I went in game to test. The book I created (A Dream of Sovngarde) was present where I placed it but there was no interaction possible (can't pick it up, grab it, blast it with a fireball, etc) and no info on mouse over. Not at all sure where I went wrong here, looked at some other Oblivion books in the CS and didn't see anything I'd done differently with mine...I'm stumped

I played for a few days until we found out when the CK was coming out. Then I stopped because my playstyle isn't really supported yet. In Morrowind, in Oblivion and now in Skyrim, I remain a collector and displayer. I do like that they apparently added display options to the game (Didn't see any before I stopped) but it needs a real display area (something along the lines of ArmoryLab from Oblivion or Mormegil Manor from Morrowind) before I can really enjoy the game to the fullest. Do absolutely love the game though and can not wait to jump back in...Right now though I am in Oblivion with a Bosmer Dragoon working on my bow skills.

The final test confirmed it. The game works properly once more (and the guards seem to be more varied too, seen Imperial Guardians and Warders running around and I didn't before.) My modifications still refuse to work but they don't break anything anymore so I think I'm going to stop poking at it.

Looks like I've succeeded. Eliminated a few mods from the list I realized I didn't need (like HGEC) and got all the others reinstalled. Took my jaunt through the Market District and the guards are whole and everything is textured properly. Also ran a test and if I create an esp in the CS it actually shows in the list now! Striker, thank you. I think I can finally complete my goal of finishing Oblivion (Yes, strange as it may be I have NEVER finished the game) Hopefully by the time I manage it there will be some sort of ArmoryLab style mod for Skyrim. One more thing though, does Skyrim still suffer from the UAC problems or did they fix that? Figure I'll ask now so I can reinstall if I need to before the big mods start showing up.

So far we're back up to FCOM and everything looks just fine.

I'd prefer to avoid it if possible, looks incredibly complicated and not something I could make sense of...Also, with the newly updated Bashed Patch: All previous errors are still present with the addition of guard shields becoming error markers

Didn't when I made the mess since I had trouble with it last time and since everything worked I didn't bother pursuing it. Just downloaded and installed it though...and now it's working. Don't know what to do with it now but I do have BOSS now.

I just can't win here...Got everything installed again and went to check the AL. It's back to working order, everything else...not so much. In my short run through the Market and Waterfront Districts I saw: Guards with missing hair, legs, arms and/or bodies Missing texture markers on the posters that warn of OOO's new dangers Missing texture markers on bottles of cheap wine and gemstones Missing texture marker on a Pirate A number of inventory icons missing I don't even know where to begin fixing these...I'm sure I installed everything for FCOM in the proper order and I know the load order is right. The only mod I've added since uninstalling is the younger looking NPC's thing and I doubt that would affect posters or wine. I did drop a couple of mods but nothing I think would cause such widespread trouble. Hard to believe all this trouble started because of a lighting problem...

Geez! UAC does cause a lot of trouble! Only found 5 pages from my search but 5 pages is still a huge number of problems. Decided to go ahead with the uninstall/reinstall. Hopefully installing outside the Program Files will solve my problems...

Wait a minute! Could the UAC thing also be the cause of the ArmoryLab problem? I edited the ESP for the enhanced AL and now I'm only getting the original, maybe it can't find the edited ESP??? That still doesn't explain why the AL problems persisted into freshly downloaded ESPS though...

And a new problem has joined the party, I can't create anything. Decided to try putting my new knowledge of lighting to use and create something to replace the AL but the ESP never shows up in the data folder and the only thing that I find via a windows search is a shortcut to the ESP...which doesn't work. So glad it's almost January...

I just tried it with a completely new install of AL and the enhancement and a brand new character that I warped out of jail. Everything in the AL is still messed up. I just don't get how the problems can be carrying over between esps. I thought redownloading the files and reinstalling them after deleting the bad ones would have restored it. Starting to get the bad feeling that I'm going to have to reinstall everything unless there are any more ideas. Not looking forward to doing the fcom install again...

Well, I've somehow managed to screw the entire ArmoryLab up. The lighting fix was simple and adding the rooms I wanted to add and connecting them to new doors was easy. Went in-game to check that everything was working right and ended up in the original AL, the one with the pedestal/containers and the forge. Went through and the weapon and armor display case rooms, the lab, the arboretum and the storage room are fine. My trophy room and 4th mannequin room are not there though and the 3 nice mannequin rooms are replaced by the one original room. Went back to the CS and found that there are several issues with the ArmoryLab cells: The entrance mannequin room is zero lighting and has no side walls The armor display case room is nothing but a door The weapon display case room is nothing but 2 doors and a display case The storage room, arboretum and lab aren't even listed anymore Decided to toss and redownload the esps to remove whatever mistakes I made but the freshly downloaded files have the exact same issues. Help!

Just out of curiosity I tried copying the entire room before duplicating, then deleting the entire duplicate room and pasting in the copied one. The lighting still goes wrong...I am completely stumped

I'm trying to make a few additions to the ArmoryLab in my game (a couple new rooms) and have run into something weird that I can't figure out. Since my modding skills have proven horrible I was going to take the easy path and simply duplicate the weapon display room, empty all the cases out, refurnish for the rooms I want to add and connect it to a new door. I've managed that much before with success. (In a different mod, not ArmoryLab) This time though the lighting is giving me problems. For some reason the duplicated room is darker then the original. Both rooms have 1 light in the list so I don't know where things went screwy. Hoping someone will be able to steer me in the right direction...

Finally finished getting all the mods I wanted (for now) loaded in and went in to check that everything was working properly. Zipped through to freedom and entered the IC...and was kind of disappointed. I'm using FCOM and from the descriptions I've read of it the guards armor is far more diverse and varied and though I did see some of them walking around with cool capes on their armor it strikes me as quite sad that the capital would allow so many of it's guardsmen to wear rusted armor. Is this just because I'm freshly out of the prison and they are being spawned with less impressive gear because I'm level 1 or did I manage to screw something up? Hoping it's the level thing since there is diversity, it just doesn't make as much sense as it seems like it should. The only thing that has broken the load order listed in the FCOM guides is the CM Partners ESM and I can't really move that anywhere else in the list, it's already at the bottom of the ESM portion of the list. EDIT: Also, why does Captain Renault have a new set of armor when it isn't lootable without an extra mod?

Its included in the Darnified UI family. You're right it is included there but I wasn't looking for all the extra stuff. Did find it after some more searching though. Can't find one of the mods I was using before. Can't remember if it was a full interface mod or just inventory but the thing I liked was that you could switch between the normal list of items (which had more visible at once) and a view that was just icons that you moused over to see the stats and effects. Any ideas?
