  1. The auto-play video adds are irritating, sure, but I can deal with that. However today I encountered something that was a first for me in all my years browsing the nexus: a file by the name of "update.exe" began downloading without prompt. Needless to say I did not execute this file, and it has been deleted from my machine. However I thought it should be brought to the attention of the staff here at Nexus mods.

I have no evidence as to which ad from your site may have prompted the download. I was browsing your site through several tabs at once, and it's anyone's guess which might have triggered it. I don't know how or if your advertising space is separated across the various sub-sites that make up nexus mods, but if it helps I was browsing FO3 nexus at the time. (nexusmods.com/fallout3).

Just want to say thank you for all the years of service this site has provided. I went ahead and threw in for a month of premium as a thanks and for the additional chance of dodging whatever malware providing add may (just a theory, here) have exploited a flash vulnerability to trigger the download without my input. I hope that you all can look into this and if my assumptions are correct that you can have removed whatever ad provider it was that initiated the download.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the reminder to turn off adblock. Honestly, I forget sometimes. Have you considered checking if people are running an adblocker and displaying an unobtrusive reminder to turn off adblock to those who do have it running? I'm sure a lot of us mostly just use it by habit and would be willing to turn it off on sites we enjoy.
  3. TacticalAce: I've PMed you a copy of this, but I thought I'd paste it here for anyone else.

Installation is actually pretty simple. Just take the files (MANUALLY downloaded from site. do not use NMM) and drop them straight into your Morrowind directory. MGE sits at the same level as morrowind.exe, and the "Data Files" folders will merge. After that, simply run MGE to configure its settings, then run Morrowind how you normally would ( Morrowind Launcher.exe or Morrowind.exe will both work)

If, for some reason, it doesn't work at this point... try messing around in the options and disabling the internal MWSE (Morrowind Script Extender) version or some other options.

For greatest visibility of what this utility does, turn on Distant land. If you've got a good enough computer, you can actually see the entire land of Morrowind at once. (by setting draw distance to around 100 or so) Remember to run the distant land file generation wizard if you do use distant land, though!

  4. While I can't say whether the more recent steam/etc GOTY versions of morrowind have this, the original GOTY bundle (oversized gold+black box) does not come with the official mods pre-installed. I almost missed out! (and I'm sure others have)
