  1. I am using a computer from someone else in the household since my PC (a desktop) has what appears to be a dead PSU. Their computer is a MacBook Air. The desktop PC has a high speed modem connected to the wall connected to it, and then the modem transmits to the MacBook Air to give it internet access.

So I noticed something peculiar. On this laptop, when I go to search things on google, it'll show sites that have been visited (purple text instead of blue). However, it is sites visited on the desktop and never visited by the laptop. Further more, searches I've done on google on the desktop are found in the search bar history when going to google on the laptop. This Apple laptop has something called iCloud, a digital, wireless 'Cloud' application. Is this the culprit? Can I disable its spying on my desktop? That'd be great. If the culprit isn't iCloud, what could it be?

  2. I believe I have a broken PSU. Everything was normal when I was using my computer. I shut it down and then went to turn it on today, but it won't start. After investigating a bit, I'm pretty sure my PSU died. I did get a message saying that a malicious URL was blocked (this was a couple of hours before I last shut it off). If a virus did slip through, are there any that can somehow damage computer hardware? Are there any that can somehow break a power supply unit?

One thing that leads me to think my PSU died is that I have a USB powered speaker set for this desktop of mine (my computer). If the computer is off but the speaker set is plugged in, there is a bright blue light that will be on. When my computer wouldn't start, I plugged in the USB powered speaker, and the light wouldn't come on. Do you guys think my PSU died? Can a PSU die during a shut down of a computer, even if rare? I did get a cheap PSU when I got my computer; I'd like to add.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good, reliable power supply unit? Any brands that stand out as very reliable? Are they one size fits all? I have a typical desktop (so that means typical components, nothing compact or miniature).

  3. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look up that follower. I'm still pretty set on adventuring with one of the three from the OP.

I haven't used followers yet because I was playing a stealth character. Do followers level up? If a follower dies, they are gone for good, but I can just reload an old save and they'll be back, right? Also, are there any mods that make followers stealthier for those with stealth characters?

  4. I'm not sure if I want a follower who is better with ranged or who is better with melee. My character will use a war axe and shield, as well as carry a bow. I could go with any one of them, unless a follower with better range is better than a follower with better melee, then I'll consider Aela more.
  5. Who is the best follower for combat? Aela The Huntress, Mjoll The Lioness, or Lydia? Are all three good and I couldn't really go wrong with any of them? I know Aela is good with archery. Are Mjoll and Lydia decent enough with archery? I'm looking for a good combat orientated follower for a warrior character I'll play.

I read on the ES Wiki that Aela is a thief. Is that true? Would she be a good follower for an archer who makes use of a lot of stealth attacks? About stealth and followers, does that work out okay, or are there some mods that improve that (if so, anyone have a link or two to a good 'stealth followers' mod?)?

  6. My next character will be a warrior Nord woman. I am looking to marry either Aela The Huntress, Mjoll The Lioness, or Lydia. I'm tempted to marry all three. XD I could then use them as followers; adventure with my wives. I think I'd go with one follower at a time, and only two or three followers every now and then.

Or maybe I'll just have one wife. I dunno.

Who should I marry? Or should I marry all three?

  7. The perk should work for many. I made a thread about that perk set and some people told me it is a good perk set (so obviously it worked for them).

I have a question, does the hack and slash perk work with every hit? It isn't just some hits, but all hits, right?

  8. Hearing that war axes are great makes me happy. =D I had wanted to use war axes the most. I have a character I've been planning. A Nord woman. I'll have her use war axes and shields (I might put perks into dual wielding to try it out) and have her use a bow sometimes.

I was planning on using steel war axes and a hunting bow and have her go around in hide and fur armors. I'll go check out some mods for light armor and bows and war axes and see if I can find anything else good (light armor that isn't fancy stuff like glass armor and weapons that aren't fancy, either, something to match armors like leather, fur, and hide armors).

  9. I want to make a character that will make use of either swords, war axes, or maces. I was thinking of going with war axes, but the hack and slash perk set doesn't sound too good.

    http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:One_handed

It says this from the link: "Bleeding damage seems to be a fixed amount over 3-7 seconds depending only on the weapon material, ranging from 3 total damage with rank 1 of this perk and an Iron weapon, to 18 with rank 3 of this perk and a Daedric weapon. Multiple bleeding effects stack(possibly only from different material weapons;needs testing)."

So this means I'd need rank 3 of the perk set and a daedric war axe just to do an extra 18 units of damage, huh? It isn't even 18 units of damage per second for 3-7 seconds, is it? The other thing is that I was planning on just using steel war axes, so if this perk set is as poor as I think it is, investing perks into it will be a real waste.

Should I just pass up on war axes and go with either swords or maces? What do you guys think is a better choice, swords or maces?

  10. I find that pickpocketing from trainers can really be helpful. I have one character that will do the Thieves Guild, so she isn't above stealing from a trainer. I've figured out where I want to put many of my perk points for her. However, I don't really want to load up on perk points for pickpocket.

Can you have somewhat decent pickpocketing chances with just some fortify pickpocket apparel and fortify pickpocket potions? Or would I have to invest in at least three perk points for pickpocketing (to get the perk for cutpurse)?

  11. You know, it took me a while to figure it out, but power leveling does ruin the game. I find myself siding with everyone in this thread. I think what I'll do is start fresh with Skyrim. I'm going to focus first on a warrior character, and then a thief character. My current character will be one or the other. I still have very early saves of her. No big loss since the power leveling only took 4 or 5 days and I haven't really played the game since then due to some reasons, one being because, well, the power leveling just ruined things for me. It'll be good to have a fresh start, though. Also, now I know what type of characters I want: Two Nord woman, one a warrior vagabond (with some hunter aspects; she wears fur/hide armors and will hunt animals) and a thief who uses bows and daggers and is an alchemist.
  12. I wanted to get this first character's second iteration back up to a similar level and I'm sticking with it now, but I'm looking forward to this second character. With my first character, things ended up getting funky from the things mentioned. This second play through will be, in some ways, like the play through I wanted with my first character. No power leveling, and this time, I know what kind of character I want to create. Why I went to an earlier save with my first character is because I just had a lack of good focus with them, putting perks into different things but not making any particular type of character. I was unsatisfied with them. There are all these neat perks and I was running into different directions with the perks.
  13. For my first character, I wanted to get back up to a level near where I was with the first iteration of the character. For my second character, I don't want to power level up. Sure, maybe I'll gain a few levels from bringing smithing up to 100 and help gain EXP fast from some trainers, and things like those, etc., but nothing excessive like I did with my first character.
  14. I was wondering for some of you, when you beat the main quest, for your characters you made after then, did any of you power level them up excessively before focuses on most quests? Like up to levels 40-45, or lesser levels, like 20-25? Did you power level excessively for some characters and not for others?

What do you think about power leveling a character to the 40s before focusing on quests and quest lines? I want to play a second character without power leveling (although I want to get smithing to 100 sooner than later since smithing will be important for this character, so I might gain levels quickly with that). For my first character (her first iteration was up to around level 45), I decided I wanted to develop her a different way, so I went to a level 5 save and power leveled her up to somewhere in the 40s in the course of several days (pickpocketing helped a lot for that between getting it to level 100 and stealing from trainers, leveling up, paying for more lessons, and stealing the money back).

  15. You character would be able to pwn most any foe really easily. Would you want some challenge? If you want some challenge but want to make a character with those perks and enchantments and such, look into mods that make the game harder. You'd still do really good with those mods, I'm guessing (haven't tried any of them). One other way to make the game more challenging (if that is what you want) is to give the archer armor that is fitting of an archer, like leather armor, instead of dragon scale armor.
  16. Is there a mod that allows for followers to travel around the world with you on their own horse?

I would like to travel around on a horse and with a follower on their own horse for my planned warrior character. For this play through, I will have a mod that requires you to eat, sleep, and drink periodically. I will want to put a sleeping bag and a small tent on each horse, for them to carry (as well as bring with me one cooking pot, two tankards, and a couple of wooden bowls and wooden plates).

  17. Thanks for the replies, guys.

What exactly are you looking for? Faces, hair, tattoos, warpaint? There are a lot of different things you can change in character creation. If you can be a little bit more specific I may be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm not interested in tattoos and warpaint. I guess just mods for faces and hair. Are there any other mods that pertain to this other than those four kinds?

Also, what are some mods that will get rid of warpaint. I was thinking of having this warrior woman marry either Mjoll the Lioness or Aela the Huntress (or maybe both :P), but I'd like them to have no warpaint.

  18. I found out enchanted apparel affects bound weapons. There is a mod that allows for maces and one-handed axes (not found in Vanilla Skyrim). Does anyone know if enchanted apparel for one-handed will work on these bound weapons from the mod?

Also, I looked at two TES wiki pages, and couldn't find out from them whether or not potions can affect bound weapons (like fortify marksman). Does anyone know?

  19. I'm trying to find a good save manager. I found two that seem like the ones to get (as they have the most dls). One has over 15,000 dls and the other has over 4,000 dls, but the one with less dls seems more trustworthy.

Here is the both of them:

    http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=365

    http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15

So is the first one more user friendly? Are both just as good as the other, and are both reliable (very low chance that saves will get corrupted?)? I don't even know if these things are known to corrupt saves. If the answer is yes to all those questions, I'll install the first mod.
