I married Ysolda. I like her. There are several good females to choose from from the women who are officially allowed to be wed.
I have a couple of questions. What is it like if you marry an NPC via the console command? Will they greet you affectionately at your home, and say other nice things to you? Also, do only certain official marriage candidates (like Ysolda and Muiri) open up shops and share gold?
One other question: Are there any marriage mods yet, and if so, are there any good ones yet?

Does anybody have an idea of how my system would run the game with this mod?
Specs:
Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
Radeon HD 5750 1 GB
4 GB 1600 RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
If my system couldn't run it too well (I'm looking for a consistent 30 fps or more), what graphics mods should I get for it? I'd like to give this game a chance since I hear how good it is.
Those are very similar to my specs. My guess would be you'll run it at an average 30 fps on fairly high settings. I sometimes drop to 20, if I'm in a town near thick grass and it's raining, but I have it set mostly to high settings as well. I get 70+ FPS indoors, and 30-40 outdoors most of the time. You'll definitely be able to make it look good, but it won't look as good as possible and still give you a solid framerate.
My guess would be you'll get 30 fps everywhere if you set it to middle settings (which will still probably look better than vanilla Oblivion, btw). A good tip is, after it gives you the option of choosing what you want the town of Balmora and the surrounding region to look like, make it as low-end as possible. Balmora can kill framerates will the Overhaul installed.
Thanks for the info. I never beat Oblivion, but I like Skyrim way more. Maybe I'll beat Oblivion some day if I find some great mods for it (haven't looked around). So, after I've played more Skyrim, I'd like more TES, so maybe Morrowind with a graphics mod is what I'm looking for. I just know that it is harder, and doesn't have fast travel (a feature I don't always use, but it comes in handy, IMO). Still, I'd like to check out Morrowind.
Does this Morrowind Overhaul 2.0 work with Morrowind GOTY from Steam? Or should I buy the Morrowind GOTY DVD? What are some good Morrowind character model enhancer mods? Do they enhance the character animations, too?

What is a good guess at when we will see the first expansion? Holiday season of 2012?

I had another idea for such a mod. Make it so that our characters can drink fresh water from rivers, lakes, and streams, too. Maybe if they go to the water with a tankard (mod it to be equitable, perhaps), then they can get water and drink that way.
-
Is there a mod yet where you have to eat and drink and sleep regularly? Perhaps if you don't, you have negative effects to your stamina, maybe skills level up slower, and health and magicka regenerate slower. I'd be interested in such a mod. If someone were to make a mod like this, I think they should allow people to drink from lakes and rivers, too (so that the character doesn't live off of drinking mead and ale. :D).

What kind of system would you need to play Morrowind with Morrowind Overhaul 2.0 at a decent framerate?
-
My guess for the setting of TES VI will be either Summerset Isle or ValenWood.

I'd like to delete some of my saves, since my saves folder is 2.28 GB. How do you do this? Just simple go into the folder and manually delete the saves? Is that the safe, legit way to do it? I don't want to screw up anything.

It never stops improving. It's not like a game where you eventually become invisible.
It's situational. I have 100 sneak and all the enchants. I still get busted sometimes when I pass through light or if they turn and I'm approaching. In the dark they can sometimes stand right in front of me though and not see me if I don't move.
I think level comes into it too. Sometimes I sneak up on mobs and they turn and attack me like they heard me. Not sure about that
Also you can have more that 100 if thats what you mean. If you have 40 through enchants and 100 then you do have 140. its not wasted
About how you thought you were heard sneaking up on mobs, have you ever found boots that have muffling? I'm at level 45, and I found glass boots of muffling from War Maiden's. I disenchanted it and put it on different boots, and it silences your footsteps. It is better than that one sneaking perk, which only reduces the noise by 50%.
If you want to get such boots from War Maiden's, make sure to check the inventory from both Adrianne and her husband. They carry different apparel.

I don't have elys uncapper, container categorization or script dragon installed. The mods I did install are 2k hd texture/enhanced nights/detailed faces/user interface font replacement/skyboost/skyui/skse/quality map with roads and the realistic water mod. I've tried a reinstall, verify game cache and updating and deleting mods.
Well, I wish I could tell you how to fix the problem, but I can tell you to keep at it. A year ago, I had trouble with Oblivion, and did a bunch of things to try and fix the problem, and then the solution was something very easy (I had to uninstall the latest drivers). I pwnt myself because I reinstalled the game a few times, and for nothing.
Did you try starting the game with all mods disabled? If it boots, at least you'll have something to work with.
If you accidentally deleted an important file to run the game, would verifying the game cache fix that every time?
-
Thank you. I deleted the script dragon files. I will put them back when they update script dragon.
This is the exact same message I'm prompted with when trying to launch the game, I've tried a reinstall with no joy :( and updated my skse mod. Really would like some helpful feedback from users who have fixed this please.
Thanks in advance.
You have SKSE and you tried updating it. You don't happen to have script dragon, too, do you? There is no update for script dragon so far.

Ever since this update to 1.4, I've had some problems. When I try to launch Skyrim, I get an error message that says "Your version of the game is NOT supported, supported version 1.3.10.0us". I looked around and found this link:
http://qbeukes.blogspot.com/2011/11/skyrim-launcher-doesnt-work-launcher.html
I tried option No. 2, where I checked the integrity of the cache files. That failed to work. The blog suggests trying it twice in case that doesn't work the first time, so I did this procedure twice. It still didn't work. I suppose I'll try it a third time (there is no harm in that, right)?
I really don't know what to do. Might I have to reinstall the game? If so, I should back up my data folder for mods, huh? If I have to reinstall, and I back up my data folder (just right click, copy, and save it somewhere on the C/ drive, as simple as that?), will it cause problems with the Nexus Mod Manager, or should it be simple to get things running again after a reinstall?
-
I've fixed the issue.
I verified the integrity of the game files(Looks like one of the mods conflicted and was replaced by Steam), and the game updated fine.
Lutine, did you get the same error message as me (see post above yours). Ever since this update, I've had a problem, thing is, I don't know where to start to fix it. I don't even know if I have the same problem you had, I just know that my problem involves Steam and the recent update.

I also cannot play the game right now. So I have to reinstall? What should I do? First, back up the data folder and also back up my game saves, just in case? I'm on Windows 7, is this pretty straight forward? Just right click, copy the folders, and save to an SD card and I'm good to go?
Also, is it pretty easy to reinstall the game on Steam? I never did a reinstall of a game on steam before. Is it also really straight forward to uninstall and reinstall the game on steam? Should I be able to find help on that in the read me file for Skyrim?
My answer was for the other person, because of the suspended download. Whatever your trouble is might have a completely different solution.
Oh, sorry. I'm pretty sure I have the same problem. Should have clarifited. My copy of Skyrim works in tandem with Steam. Earlier today, I got a message from a Steam pop up in the bottom right corner of my screen that said "Skyrim has finished downloading" which I thought was odd. It must have to do with either version 1.3 or 1.4. But it seems like I have the same issue as the OP. When I try to play Skyrim, ever since seeing that message, it says "Your game version is NOT supported, supported version is 1.3.10.0us". I'm guessing I have the same problem as the OP.

Can we discuss alchemy recipes in the General Skyrim Discussion boards? I'll post this here in case not.
I have found some good damage health poison recipes using ingredients that respawn. I was wondering, what are some very good restore health potion recipes using ingredients you can buy and that respawn? I use blisterwort and wheat or blue mountain flower, or some other ingredients (swamp fungal pod, butterfly wing). I have some good alchemy perks and my alchemy level in in the 60s, so my healing potions recover 75 points of health. I just wonder if there are some good recipes for health potions that I don't know about.

Honestly, the best way to discover which one works best is to try them both out yourself. Some people get better performance with Acceleration Layer, others with Boost. Personally, I use Boost. I don't have much difference between the two, Boost adds maybe 3 or 4 frames at most. What I do notice, though, is that when I use Layer, the frames can skip anywhere from...let's say 35-40 while running in Whiterun. With Boost, the frames only vary from 38-40, so the difference is mainly jitter reduction for me.
Other people report a gain of almost +15 FPS with SkyBoost. You just have to test them and see what works. I have yet to hear of any bugs/crashes pertaining to either mod.
On a side note, SkyBoost needs Script Dragon (which can, in fact, be run alongside SKSE). There is a nice addon for Script Dragon that exchanges Dragon Souls for Perks. If you decide to use SkyBoost, that mod is also worth looking into, since you'll have the necessary things for it anyway, hehe.
Oh, and don't run TESVAL and SkyBoost at the same time. It...doesn't work...
Okay, good to hear that there are no known bugs with either. I will then try both. I might check out Script Drgaon since Skyrim Boost uses it. Instead of making a new thread, can I ask, what are Script Dragon and SKSE? Are they recommended to get? Are they mods that can be used on the Nexus Skyrim Mod Manager?
-
I am looking to download a Skyrim performance enhancer. I have found out about the TESV Acceleration Layer, and then I found a link to something called Skyrim Boost on SkyrimNexus. Which accelorator should I choose? Which one is more stable/causes less bugs and glitches? Which one gives a better performance boost? I'll probably choose the one that adds less buginess. Does either operate with virtually no added glitches and bugs?
Here are my specs, if this info will be helpful:
Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
Radeon HD 5750 1 GB
4 GB 1600 RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
I have the latest Skyrim updates via Steam. I have the latest ATI drivers.
Also, with the latest Skyrim updates via Steam, does that give me the Skyrim update that utilizes 4 GB RAM?

Has anyone had this problem? Going into a certain place almost always crashes? I'd like to know if others have had this problem in this place or any other places. I'd also like to know if there is a possible solution. This happens consistently, and most times I go there, but not every time. It takes about 10-100 seconds before the game closes down on me.
The game goes to desktop almost every time I go to Arcadia's Cauldron now, so I won't go there anymore. I keep trying to see if I could solve the problem, and I couldn't. I reloaded old but recent saves. I determined that when I was at level 33 for alchemy, I could go in there just fine. But then I leveled up to 38 with her as a trainer, and that lead to the buginess. I reloaded an old save and trained with someone in Mortal instead, reached level 38, and then the buginess ensued then, too. It kept bringing me to the desktop, and then one time it caused the game to freeze and I had to open the task manager, and then I decided to just not go there anymore.
Has anyone had any places that they just have problems with like that?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit. I have a single ATI card (Radeon HD 5750) with the latest drivers.

I have decided that my Nord needs to delve into some Illusion magic to help when she is fighting a number of enemies at once (the only weapon she is very good at is bow and arrow, so fighting three or more enemies at once gets tough). First of all, would Illusion magic prove very useful for someone who uses archery as their only way of fighting? I read somewhere someone saying it helped them with calm, fear, and frenzy spells.
Now, onto the thread's topic. Some perks I want to gain sooner than later (I'm level 19 now) are illusion spells working on higher level animals and illusion spells working on higher level people. What are considered higher level animals and people, though? So I'm at level 19 now. Do feral animals and people who are enemies (i.e. not townsfolk) have their levels scale to yours? I'd like to know so I know how soon to level up my Illusion skills (to cover both perks) and how soon I should allocate those perks.
Are Dragons considered high level animals?

I was returning to the College of Winterhold, looking to join once I had enough magic to cast a certain spell. However, now I don't have the dialogue option to progress. This should be a bug. Is there anything I can do to progress and join the College of Winterhold? Perhaps even a thing to type in command console?

I'd like to be a thief in a future playthrough, so maybe I'll do the DB questline as a thief and hook up with her in that play through. I agree, she is the best looking for wives. There are still some other good looking women you can marry, though.
I'm looking to marry one of these women in my first playthrough: Ysolda, Sylgja, and Mjoll the Lioness.

So I take it she is bad, huh? o.o
Let's just say that you have a Dark Brotherhood business with her, which isn't lethal for her.
Yeah, sounds like she ain't good then. I don't actually know much about the Dark Brotherhood, but if you are involved with them, either you support them, or you don't last long, and she has been involved with the Dark Brotherhood for a while it seems, so yeah, she supports them (correct?) I have yet to get to Markarth, so I don't know much about her besides what I read on that Skyrim wiki.

Bows and DPS
in Skyrim LE

I did a couple of searches and couldn't find a thread on this. Hopefully one hasn't been made yet.
I have a character and around 400 saves. I know, I need to delete many of them. Anyway, I was thinking of starting a new game because I wanted to develop my character differently, but I just had the smart idea of going to a much earlier save and reshaping my character. I wasn't quite sure what type of character to make for awhile. I was making a character that was a bit of jack of all trades, but now I want to make a Ranger/Scout character.
For my character, the main weapon for me will be bow and arrows. Can I do well with bows such as long bows and hunting bows, especially if I craft them? I know there damage rating is not too close to glass bows. But I read that their dps is better. Would I be able to do pretty well with crafted light bows up around levels 40-60?
