The shaming of non-premium users needs to stop!
flairtorc replied to IfItsOnPCItsNotExclusive's topic in Site Support
Hey there, my obligatory qualifier is I've been using this site for 11 years(wasn't Oblivion just the best?), and had a user profile for nearly the last 10(one month to go). I never really had money to spend for most of that time and had to pinch pennies a lot. However, around 2016 that changed, and I believe in late 2017 I remembered that I had this magical thing called "disposable income", and finally payed back with a purchase of lifetime premium. You know, seeing as this site literally enabled me to turn great games into amazing games, and pull thousands of extra hours into otherwise dead titles. I'm certain a lot of people have similar reasons for paying this site's facilitation costs, and I could sit here and say things that have already been said by about... 5 or 6 pages worth of other people. And I'm not gonna rehash how this is worse than a lot of other file hosting websites with no other purpose, or how if the site were like this back in 2012, I'd have eventually left and never paid them a dime. It's not like having advertisement models like this allowed RapidShare(which went out of business) or 4Shared to have actual live communities around them. I'm not going to waste people's time with that. Especially since I guarantee someone affiliated with ownership here is reading basically all of this, and my message is very much so, to them, primarily. No, I'm going to very briefly explain how a site with a massive thriving community has dun shucked up pretty bad with this move. (If it isn't clear, most of the "you"s in the next paragraph are to The Nexus) Oh and very clear warning, this is going to be pretty brash. I'm sorry but I can't help but inject how I feel into how I type. See, everyone who has paid for premium, supporter, what have you, has done so mainly for one specific reason. Appreciation. People have helped to make your site a success, and paid you, out of appreciation for what this site has done for them. Sure, there MIGHT be a small percentage of people who paid for premium for faster downloads due to irritation, and probably a fair amount of people who paid 2 bucks for ads to be gone. Which is, nothing really. But I'm willing to put money on, and yes more than 2 dollars, the idea that at least 85% of paid users here, did it because of a positive feeling of thankfulness. This move is a major shuck up because you've now flipped the equation. You're no longer seeking compensation through appreciation, which I might add, has a few more other methods you could have used to gain more money, instead, you are now seeking that compensation via trying to annoy your users with click s*** walls and timers. With this, you're no longer working with what you provide and a users thankfulness. You're now trying to wear them down into spending, using negativity, not positivity. Sure, that might make money in the short term, but it'll definitely damage the community because it abruptly changes the Host/Client relationship. It's been converted from "If you like what we've done, maybe help us out!", to "If you want faster downloads and us to stop wasting your finite existence on this planet, pay us." Whether or not this was the intention, you're now annoying someone into paying as opposed to acquiring it strictly from providing a top notch service. How very Capitalistic of you. Honestly that's all I really have to say. The Nexus has decided it'd rather be like any other generic file hosting site, and nothing more. There were other ways, as I am quite certain other users before me have said, but for whatever reason, they went with this. I cannot fathom how site management could doubt it's user-base so much to think that this was the only way. There is always time for The Nexus to revert this, but they can never undo that they did in fact, go through with this. I'm honestly disappointed, and I feel sorry towards The Nexus for doing this. As a side note, I was convinced that the only way The Nexus could have decided this, was if they had been acquired by a larger company. This is not the case. They decided this. -
Look at this cheeky little bugger coming up with something neat to cheat the game ;). I might link this in my reserved second post.

Sorry friend for taking a hot moment to check this out. I was very ill for a little bit when this came in but I am ship shape now. I have two questions for you. 1. Are you able to locate these values normally inside the save flag editior? If so they should exist no matter what. 2. Are you going back to the very first character at the very top in the hex editor before performing each string search?

ATM the moment I don't really know what to tell you. What you might try is making sure that you set the True/False's correctly and didn't accidentally mix them up. And if that doesn't work, then try this on a save that comes before you have started the Leliana end quest. Most of my research when into before this even happens. I have no personally made it this far in that quest but I know that this will fix your save prior. As it has been a very long time since I wrote this, most of what I did went into looking what would happen if you missed the first even in the game, and assumed that you didn't screw up the second event, which unlike the first event, cannot be missed. I think I had someone confirm for me earlier that you can use this to fix a completely screwed up Leliana story-line. But if I can find the time I might look back for the proper plot flag for that and include that in the tutorial so that people who messed that up can fix it. While I am mostly sure that my fix will work on any save, I am not 100% sure. So I might look into this in the future. I am still replying to this thread, just my current shift makes it difficult to remember to do so on a daily basis. I might make a video in the future. I would just need a save to work with and the time to do it. Language barrier isn't much of a problem seeing as most of what I have to work with is a yes or no answer.

Looks like I've missed a few posts. I'm a bit busy, and I'll get to all soon. (Within the next day hopefully)

What do you mean you encountered the first two scenes? If you have encountered both the Haven scene with the betrayer, and the Skyhold scene with.... other stuff I don't remember, you should just be able to find those values in your save and turn them to true/false depending upon the ending bits of my guide. Also, if you cannot find any of the stuff in your save from hex workshop, either you aren't searching from the beginning of the file, or you haven't block shifted right enough yet o: I might take a gander at your save file. I just don't want to promote myself as someone who just takes saves and fixes them(bad precedent). So lemme try to understand your exact issue. So what you're saying is, is that none of the events can be located using the save tool linked in the guide? Just spent a few minutes looking at your save. Yeah, you have none of these values. That this means to me is you'll have to add ALL four values and give them the correct value. Just don't pick anything from the values of before that are set to true as said in the instructions. you should have 5 values to choose from for replacing.

If your save file got corrupted, then you may have made a mistake with block shifting left. It has to be the exact same amount of times as you block shifted right, or you will get a corrupted save message. You did all 3 events right? Modded in the missed one at Haven, and did the event in Skyhold, and ended her personal quest correctly? Right? I look there first because you might be the first one to tell me this hasn't worked. What u mean "modded in the missed one at Haven"? The event at Skyhold im pretty sure that I did (i love leliana and checked for new conversations literally all the time). I did her personal quest (and killed Natalie). I need to install a Mod? is it? Im bit confused Also, sorry for my english, my primary language isn't English (I speak portuguese) No No, what I mean is, in order for Leliana to not go overboard, you have to do my guide to mod your save file to make it so you didn't miss the Haven event. Then you have to have her second event, where if memory serves you tell her to not kill people or something along those lines (she sure likes killin in this game) in Skyhold, then her personal quest, which is the final one where you have to tell her to not kill.... whoever that one person is, been a long time once again. If all three events are done properly, she should not be hardened. Nothing in Origins or DA2 affects the outcome of whether or not she is hardened in this game (Which makes no sense). In the third event did you allow her to kill a person? Also, you don't need any mods installed. And I forgot to say earlier, but if you hadn't block shifted correctly, your save simply would have not loaded, so you did that part correctly. So u are telling me that I need to do certain choices to make Leliana Softened even with this tutorial? Im not sure if I missed the event at Haven (so probably i missed). The other 2 events that you mentioned i didn't missed, but my choices contribut for her go hardened. Anyway, i followed ur tutorial, as I said, step by step. All hex were properly replaced. I rly done everything right. In DAIsaveEditor the replaced hex appear properly with their matching values (true or false). My class is Warrior (on both games) so i choose the mage hex and for romances I choose the non-romanced ones (just like u said). So, if there is a problem, im sure that isn't in my modified save data. EDIT1: U said that for this tutorial work i need to do it before Leliana is completely hardened, so it doens't work when we are on Main Hall, after defeating Cory?? I need to do it before cory fight?? Sorry it took me a bit to get back, I didn't see my alert for this. In order to get the softened Liliana ending, you have to not kill Natalie. My guide exists because if you missed or did any of the previous event incorrectly, even if you told her not to kill Natalie, she would anyways. So basically what I am saying is, depending upon how far back the Natalie encounter was, you need to either redo that, and tell her, after doing my guide, to not kill Natalie. Killing Natalie hardens Liliana. Otherwise, you can open the DAI save editor, and find the plot flag detailing if Leliana kills Natalie, and swap it to false, or true, depending upon which value means she didn't kill Natalie. In order to get the softened ending, all 3 of these values must dictate that she basically doesn't do anything stabby stabby.

Thank you! Another person who sees things the way I do! In DAO, she was... weird. Way too naive. Hardening her merely made her stand up for herself. Same with with Alistair. And unlike DAI, the decision rested on 1 critical point; not spread out like this nonsense. For her to go from that, to an agent of the Divine in DA2, to this monster? Too big of a change; they hadn't even lost Haven yet, and she was already ruthless. Especially since it makes the second event not even really matter. First thing holds 99% of the sway, with the seconds counting for 1%. Just being there as a courtesy. Leliana's Mind: I swear to the Maker, if I have one more spy betray me and someone doesn't stop me, I'm done, everyone can die, f*#@ it.

Yeah, to be honest, out of everything in this game, that is the one thing I think they REALLY dropped the ball on. You can spend hundreds of hours in the game, only to have your ENTIRE ending ruined by the first hour of the game because of missing one, seemingly innocuous event. And even at that point, depending upon how you romanced Leliana in DAO, how she is in DAI does not make any sense per her character. The ease at which she goes overboard makes her character seem incredibly weak, and as if everything that happened in DAO never did. Like she never changed at all. Poor game and story design in my opinion.

Congratulations on making it so Leliana doesn't ruin your game! It's been so long since I researched how to do this, after first seeing ricco19's solution(It was a bounty post, take my save, fix it, I'll pay you 50 dollars, kinda thing), that I no longer remember why you had to have them, despite them being false. I would assume they are required to exist because in order for her not to crazy, certain conditions must be met. So a script in the game checks like, are these extra 2 values set to false? If they were, then the statement would pull a "True". But since they don't exist in the table of plot flags, it can do nothing but arrive at "False". So if you were to look at this on a whole, it would be a script for deciding if Leliana listens to you in the final event. The script goes, are these values; CE01323A17870C4E95283D747263019A = True DADF5B4FCEAAA749AC724875AFD601D6 = True 0E8105EDBBB9694DBC4A913ADE0301C5 = False DB286CE3E14E2D44964C573E2EB0010C = False ???? And the plot table replies CE01323A17870C4E95283D747263019A = True Yes DADF5B4FCEAAA749AC724875AFD601D6 = True Yes 0E8105EDBBB9694DBC4A913ADE0301C5 = null No DB286CE3E14E2D44964C573E2EB0010C = null No Which causes the script to arrive that you haven't met the requirements for her to listen to you, and she kills the guy, ruining your game forever. In programming, if memory serves, in order for the conditions to be met properly, they have to be False or True. A null value is just considered neither true, nor false. It's null, and since it's a null value, that script that checks to see if Leliana listens to you will always fail, unless the values are exactly what is needed to be met. I hope I answered that in a good way for you. Again, it's been a really long time since I made this guide and a lot of the research behind it has left my brain, as with the programming knowledge.

The sad thing about this game is that it doesn't generate it's plot points until you've experienced them, but if you plainly miss an event, it counts it as a False plot flag as the flag doesn't exist. When block shifting, be sure to search for something you know your game has. The ones I provide should always work. You can obviously use ones different than the ones I used in my tutorial example. Also, always be sure to go back to the beginning of the file before searching for the string again. When it comes to how many time you need to block shift. It can be anywhere from 1 to whofreakingknows. If you have any other issues, be sure to state them and I will try to assist in any way I can.
-
Okay, gonna answer both your questions. I am unsure of your exact situation so I would like to get a handle on it. What are you currently experiencing in game? Did you speak to Leliana and have the traitor killing event? Or did you miss it? If you had the event, you should be able to just change the value of the event to the desired outcome to keep her from going coo coo. Otherwise you will have to use the entire guide to get through adding in the values required to keep her from going over the fence. Basically, in order to be sure that Leliana doesn't ruin your game you have to make sure all the values are the same as I have shown.

@Azula117 I have accepted your request and sent you a message. I'm at work but I've got steam chat open at the moment, while I can't do much I can still confirm it's you.
