(TL;DR My character's face flashes black, is this caused by running SLI? If so, is there a fix?)
Hello everyone,
I've recently come back to Skyrim and reinstalled all my mods. Now, everything was working pretty much fine. Fairly stable FPS - around 30-40 with ENB enabled, SSAO and DoF disabled (I freaking love that mod). Obviously, it drops down a fair bit when I turn SSAO and DoF on, so I settled with playing with them off and turning them on for screenshots only.
However, I actually have a second graphics card (GTX 570), I just haven't been able to use it for the last while because my boyfriend was using it. Anyway, I got it back, so I now have 2 570's in SLI. And now I have a problem.
The face, or head, of my character now flashes black and after a while it eventually turns completely black. I've tried reinstalling my face/body textures and it did nothing (as I originally thought it was a problem with using the texture blender). So I did a bit of googling and what mostly comes up is people having the problem when using Crossfire. So I wondered if this could also be caused by using SLI? I haven't tried playing without my SLI as it was late last night when I discovered it and I'm at work at the moment so can't test it. If it is a problem with SLI however, does anyone know if there's a fix going about for it? Or if there is anything I can do other than having to disable SLI to play Skyrim?

I've reinstalled my Skyrim, as well as my mods and I'm experiencing CTDs outside.
I just made a new game, and transferred her face from a previous save to this new one - so it's completely fresh other than that. I open the save and start playing (I'm using alternate start - camping in the woods option) and when I get to the burnt body and pick up the journal, I go to my inventory and it CTDs. I'm hoping someone can help me, I'm so sick of all these crashes >.>

EDIT: Just to say, I made another new character, played around with her in Falkreath for about 40mins all within the inn, the blacksmith (outside) and the general store. As soon as I went out the gates of Falkreath it CTD'd.

I've recently started playing again and after updating/installing new mods, I played for about 3 or 4 hours yesterday on a ranger character I created a while back (though she was still only level 1, now she's level 3 :P)
Anyway - everything was going perfectly fine and I was having a lot of fun. I didn't try out any of my other saves extensively, I just checked to make sure my main savegame was working as I was previously having issues with insta-CTDs which I figured out were the cause of wrong ugrids values. So, my previous saves were working peachy and I played for 4 hours with no problems at all - sounds good.
In between checking my old saves (oh, and making a new character - a Temptress) I downloaded some new mods then I went to play my ranger character without testing my previous saves again, because I assumed they were all dandy. Today, after installing a few mods, I went to go onto my main save (a nord warrior) and I noticed something was not right. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like there's another mesh on top of the original mesh and they're showing through each other. I checked on my ranger character, and it's happening to her too. So I checked with a new game and it seems to be showing up for all female races, except the new Temptress race. Screenshots are at the bottom to describe what I'm talking about better.
I did install FNIS and some new animations (as well as other mods which I don't think relate to the problem at all). This was earlier today, before I checked my main save, so I'm thinking it may be something to do with that? Does anyone else know what's going on and what I can do? I will try uninstalling FNIS and see if that helps.

I'm trying to learn how to create my own armor. I have a whole concept sketch done up, but first I wanted to create something simple and get it working before I tackle a full set. I've already hit some trouble. When adding my .nif to the creation kit (using this tutorial, at the part 'Add the armor to the game using the CK') I get a big red triangle with an exclamation mark on the Model Data preview and it says Marker_error:0. Does anyone know what I've done wrong, or what I've not done at all? Or how to fix it?
Also, after I'm comfortable with the process and get something successfully imported to the game I think I'll go ahead and make my own tutorial for getting armor into the game. This tutorial is ok, it just leaves a bit to be desired and I'm having difficulty following some parts of it. Though I am extremely grateful for the person who made this tutorial, as I wouldn't even know where to begin without it.

Couldn't the translations be filtered somehow so that they only show up if we're looking for them? Or have a seperate section for translations where they only show up in that section? And the original mod can have a link to any translations that have been uploaded.

This has probably been asked before. I've tried googling it, but nothing's coming up. Basically, I'm looking for a mod that when a dragon attacks and you're killing it alongside the guards they don't turn hostile on you if you accidentally hit them. I was just in an epic battle with a frost dragon, died a few times, and finally I manage to get a final fire breath shout in to take it down but I catch a few guards with it - they turn hostile on me and and I died. -.-
It's really rather frustrating and doesn't make much sense. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Hey everyone.
I have so many ideas for modding Skyrim that I decided I would finally learnt how to mesh properly. But I've encountered a problem already. I've installed Blender but it won't seem to load up properly. It stays on the loading screen and nothing loads properly. When I hover my mouse over things they show up, but the splash screen doesn't go away and the workspace won't load at all. I'm using v2.49b, I've tried the newest version of Blender which seems to work fine, but all of the modding tutorials use 2.49b. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix it? I've got python 2.6.6 installed as well.

It's not in my game anymore either. I think everything in my game reset a couple of days ago. There were a few bandits on the road to High Hrothgar I killed that are also gone and a troll just before Ivarstead. There's more, but those came to my head first.

So a few days back I was doing a quest near Riften and I came across a stray dog. I asked him to follow me and he came trotting around with Lydia and I everywhere we went. I came to realise that I had to be careful when running for a long time and when going indoors as Melvin (the dog :D) would sometimes disappear. So I made a habit of quicksaving everytime I was about to go indoors. After I while I headed back to my home in Whiterun and asked Melvin to wait whilst I sorted through my inventory and got ready to settle down for the night. I assumed it would happen and I correct that when I went to sleep, Melvin was gone when I woke up. I tried 4 or 5 times and there was no way to make him stay if I went to sleep. Skip forward to just now where I've come to Markarth and decided I wanted to buy a war dog. I hoped that since I would officially own him he wouldn't disappear like Melvin did. But I can't even get that far. When I go to buy the war dog I'm told "sorry, you already have an animal with you". I thought Lydia might be making it go funny so I asked her to leave, but still nothing. I thought it might be because of my horses? Or does the game still think I have Melvin with me so won't let me buy a war dog? If so, is there a way I can get Melvin back? Or a way to 'reset' so it knows I don't have Melvin anymore. I did a quick fresh install on another drive to compare my fps and (with a few essential mods), I'm sticking at 30fps (which is a great number) and it doesn't go any higher than that (unless inside). So I think what I'm getting is the best I'm going to get with all the mods I have installed and the tweaks I've done. I've lowered some of the settings on a few of my graphic-intense mods and I get on average 20fps around the country and about 8-12fps in towns when it's bad weather or particularly busy. I know 8-12fps sounds really bad, but it doesn't seem that bad when you're playing, unless you compare it to 30fps, haha.

bben46; I'm using my native resolution as anything higher makes my font go all fuzzy, which is rather annoying on my eyes. I have a 24" TV and my resolution is 1360x760.
Ghoulz; Yep, that happens to me, too. When I'm out of town my fps increases a lot, and I don't get so much stutter.
Rydan; Thanks for this, I'll make sure to run it everytime before I start up my game. Though I'm not actually sure if it makes a difference, as I've checked how much RAM Oblivion is using whilst playing and it's only using about 3.5gb when I have 16gb available.

I'm apprehensive about getting it; I haven't made up my mind yet. I want to support Bethesda and even though I've refrained myself from reading anything about Skyrim for the past few months (I want everything to be completely new and exciting to me, or disappointing for the bad parts, but let's hope there aren't too many of those) I still think it's going to be an amazing game and such an epic experience. I think it's definitely overpriced, as others have said, there are other collector's editions out there with more stuff for less. My sister is getting the standard edition and I was going to get the collector's edition to 'share' with her - meaning, she really wants the statue and the map and I would quite like the art book and the making-of DVD, plus I just love collecting CE's. But after upgrading my PC (and still not fully finished) I don't really have that much money to spare right now, especially with christmas coming up soon. Oi, oi oi, choices, choices :/

Hello everyone,
I reinstalled Oblivion and have been modding it for the last couple of weeks whilst upgrading my PC at the same time. My FPS was particularly bad (as in, literally 0fps whilst raining in the middle of Bravil whilst in combat, with Open Better Cities and many other graphic-intense mods installed) and it took around 5mins to do a full 360 with extreme stutter and lag. But I was fine with this as I was still getting my game modded to a level I was happy with and waiting to install new upgrades. On average, I was getting 3-6fps during the day walking through a town, with pretty bad stuttering and lag, especially when turning around. Indoors was pretty much perfectly fine, with an average fps of about 25, sometimes higher.
Anyway, I've now finished upgrading my PC and I'm happy with the mods I have installed (apart from a few small things here and there). I've upgraded my graphics card, my power supply, my RAM, a new secondary hard drive and my case (with fans, as I was getting near to overheating problems before). With all of these upgrades, I was expecting a major fps increase. While my fps has increased and the stuttering and lag when turning is almost gone, I'm not completely satisfied with the outcome. I get around 8-15fps in cities at night and from 30-60, sometimes even over 100, indoors. This is after I've disabled Vsync and enabled triple buffering. I've also used the 4gb patch and I do have an edited .ini file.
I'm assuming most of the lag is coming from having Better Cities installed, along with a bunch of other graphic-intense mods, but I was just hoping that with brand new hardware my fps would increase by a large amount. Is there anything else I could do to increase my fps without sacrificing my mods/graphic quality? Could the fps drop have anything to do with my hard drive, seeing as though that's pretty much the only thing I haven't upgraded? I've put my before and after specs at the bottom of this post.
I mean, Oblivion is playable just now, I can live with the fps I'm getting (though I haven't tried installing OBGE yet and I really want to try it out) I would just really like to see an increase for the hardware I have. Any insight into this, or any help anyone can give with this would be greatly appreciated. I read somewhere that deleting my ini and cfg files and letting them be recreated might help, is this true?

I've been modding my Oblivion for the past few days but I'm still a little bit of a newb to it. My question is this; in Wrye Brash, when I go to update my Bashed Patch, a window comes up with a number of checked mods saying "Mergeable, but tagged 'NoMerge'". Should I be merging these files or should I be ignoring them?

Bioshock 1 and 2 are tied in first place for my favourite games of all time.
I adore the Bioshock series so much. They have amazing environments, the music is just perfect and the art is beautiful. The story of Bioshock took my breath away, it's outstanding. The story of Bioshock 2 was good, it was nothing compared to the story of Bioshock 1, but it still moved me, and I had a tears in my eyes at the end of it. The DLC that came out a while ago, Minerva's Den, was also great. The story of that was closer to the story twist in Bioshock 1, and I almost cried at the end of it, it really moved me a lot.
And Rapture is just... Out of this world. It's absolutely beautiful, and I'm sad that they won't be returning to it in Bioshock Infinite, as to me, that takes away a lot of the essence of 'Bioshock', but we'll see.
TL;DR version: Bioshock FTW.
In 2nd place would have to be the Mass Effect series.

Hi everyone,
There are so many hair mods going about now, which is great. However, I only like a hanful of hairs out of all of the hair packs available at the moment, but I can't install them all at the same time, nor do I want to keep uninstalling and installing them over and over just to get 1 hairstyle on 1 character. So I would like to make my own hair pack, with hand-picked hairstyles from each hair pack. Would anyone be able to tell me how I go about doing this? I opened the creation kit and tried to give it a go myself, but I literally have no idea what I'm doing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
