  1. I'm considering coming back to modding Fallout 4 and making my cats become a standalone NPC/group enemy. A year ago or so, I was unable to get access to how to add behaviors to my FUCs to have them become another enemy grp, among other things so I moved on. I could even find and info about how to get my meshes to link together for a gun... Has the game/modding community matured to the point if I wanted to created such a new grp, I could have access to how to construct it, i.e., pointed to information such that I can read it, and apply it? Has the creation kit helped in any way? I also want to make weapons, gear and mounts for SWTOR/Fallout 4; has access to the information about how to link mod changed? Are things shared in the mod community so I can learn how, e.g., the various parts of the mesh for guns, skeletal systems work with the game engine, standalone NPCs are created and refined? I have updated my tools to Zbrush 4r8 P1, Maya 2017, Substance Painter 2.x, Substance Designer and Photoshop CC 2017. What utility programs do I still need to work with the assets, e.g., the DDS plugin for Photoshop...anything else? I remember the script editor, animation converstion software, that bizarre opaque mesh editor, etc. Just need a point in the right direction, I will teach myself. I don't know what I don't know, so even a list for modders, given the current mature level of the game would be helpful. I need to assess whether or not the information in the modding community is still considered a guarded secret, or if there's a person willing to create they get access to learning resources. "I just figured it out, is as plausible as, I don't have to study and I ace every test." No, no you didn't. Not any real test. Thank you for any consideration and direction.
  2. Dear sir or madam fellow modder, I'm an small established modder of another game. I've been playing NMS for 3 days. I have a eye retina burning problem: Every time you claim an unknown site, and save it, with that stupid thing that spins, the screen goes completely white and my eyes literally hurt like I get thumbs in my eyes. My current fix (listening to the sound of the save that occurs with the white screen flash) putting my hand over my eyes, I find too barbaric to continue without requesting a hack. Don't make me learn another game engine to fix this myself! I'm enjoying playing the game while I twittle my time away waiting to die. Thank anyone in advance for removing my eye poking pain...I doubt I'm alone.
  3. No, "You finish the game for us for free." I haven't seen any remuneration talked about upon uploading other than ppl that don't download the mods can rate them... Has anyone? My download yesterday was so slow, I stopped it. @MasterMangus How exactly does an attorney understand the computer game production environment enough to even know what to look for? Kinda strange to me. They go by past case law and protect retroactively since we know past performance is no guarantee of future performance so that'll work perfectly. Did you know the due diligence standard applies to finances, but not to ppl? (Well except if you work for one of the big 4 accounting firms, and your a big corp, then just lie ur butt off, they'll cover you...2008 anyone?) Drs only need reasonable care!
  4. They have that for a while now, but it's military. Why do you think Google went around the streets of America for? It wasn't for free...and it wasn't just for stealing your home wifi passwords. You wouldn't need a military command for the "homeland" if it wasn't a future or current battleground. NorthCom, shouldn't exist unless they plan to fight their population. Is "The Division" comparable to the gone for city? Idts. But the graphics are ridiculously nice. There are tons of prefab real world cities already mapped to the sidewalks that the game makers could use, but that would give us the ability to plan how to attack or respond to an attack in a realistic way. Can't have that! Remember the HS kid that got thrown in jail for modeling his HS? So the govt knows how powerful it is and stopped that real fast. I missed the ppl's accents of Boston in the game. Is Boston now a 3rd world dump like here in NYC too? We don't have a characteristic accent, they all moved to NJ. Sounds like 1950s Brooklyn over there. I think Fonzi still is alive there! On the other hand, the first girls I saw fight with closed fists were Irish girls on the other side of the blvd where I grew up...that was scary. After the shock wore off (took a couple seconds, I was gonna laugh, but I know the sound of a fist hitting right on a face and that happened) I just pushed one into the other room and said wtf. Girls seem to never learn defense. China used a Shrinkray on it's debt. They now have >40% of new debt created to pay off ONLY the interest of their old debt. Ponzi debt, what could go wrong with that? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-11-19/china-has-a-1-2-trillion-ponzi-finance-problem-as-debt-piles-up The US is the only one that uses Stingrays on it's population to illegally snatch cellphone traffic...well the UK too, and maybe Germany. Spain and France are too ding a ling to even encrypt their cellphone traffic. Ok Idk about Spain and France, but I stand by that they're ding a lings.
  5. I'm now officially disgusted: http://i.imgur.com/Pq6FZFL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/glWTArW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1Finl3B.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UYHZV4T.jpg Wtf. I call shenanigans...or my copy of the game on the workstation is officially fk'd up...idk. I noticed Outfit Designer is referencing the WRONG texture, it must be reading the bsa or something...idk but, it reads the standalone Eli helmet, so wtf is the game/OD doing? When they BOTH read the SAME nif and produce different representations!? How is OD reading the Tabby texture and my game reads the Grumbly Cat texture and nothing else?
  6. The cat shows up perfectly, the helmet is completely not showing. Grumbly just walks around aimlessly, even though a guy made a freakin robot companion and said I should be able to do so with the cats. Oh, I'm NOT gonna use the helmet for any mod or anything, it's just for personal use, but it also helps to learn, wtf am I missing, gdi. Weird, but this has happened before with freakin' glass. I'm suspicious Eli's esp does something to overcome this problem, but I started to learn piano, cause making stuff to use in my DAWs (Cubase or Pro Tools) really needs me to be an average piano player, so I haven't looked at the esp. I just want to kick the Gambryo Engine in the taint. Even if it's me. I DID move the two meshes exactly the same amount and/or shrunk it the exact same amount. There is no way any points are not exactly overlapping...and oh, I don't have the snap of the nif up...wait a sec. Ok: http://i.imgur.com/RAY5W9b.jpg Maybe it's the NiNodes in random places? I tried the helmet without a bounding sphere, with bounding spheres and with one having a sphere and one not. It ain't the bounding spheres...imo. I have the material files in the right places... Maybe it's how I used the body as a reference for the helmet instead of the eyes and copied the bone info over? I don't remember if I used the eyes to anchor the black helmet or not, but that one is rock solid on and tracking right.
  7. I want to "romance" my female avatar that I use to play in the game. But, I think I already do...the only difference is, she does things I ask her to do, and stops when I ask her to stop. I thinks I figured out why I play female avatars in games! It's like I can be listened to and respected and it doesn't vary based on the amount of money I have to spend at any given time. Try that irl and get back to me.
  8. Study finds comedians are more inclined to have 'high levels of psychotic personality traits' The Good news is, you choose the ppl ur attracted to from your unconscious parts you can't accept. So ur probably a nice person. Unfortunately, she'd murderize you but, that's the point. You're perfect foil, murderizes you.
  9. Ok, so the robot DLC is ok. I'm waiting for the water sports DLC, but might as well install the robot one, though, does it really add anything? Anyone know which update(s) f' up the mods, or it's still just the beta ones?
  10. Thanks for the youtube link. I felt the "wins" for any of the factions were "bad" in that they all had bad intentions in the end. Having none "win" is the best outcome to a dark inspired game (having nothing done for a higher purpose). The lightbringer seems to have arisen and become the most powerful, even in our fantasy worlds. -------------------------------------- And the more I think about it. The first game I completed was Freelancer (a microsoft game...but the brains were not microsoft) and FalloutNV was my second. My first book I read and completed was whoa, I forgot, but I do remember it was when I was 20 years old. First book: 20 years old...cause me mom tortured me to read at 3 years old (I did read, I just got Clockwork Oranged)... Completion is an attitude, and takes a force of will that I think is useful compared to the alternative. Or it's just my solopsist view given I got Clockwork Oranged and overcoming that was a demonstration of will not so ordinary.
  11. I don't want to have to reinstall or uninstall all the stuff I have as mods. What should I be wary of when I install the 2 DLCs, now that everyone is comfortable with the results they get?
  12. "Romance" is a fiction created about 800 years ago. It's more about you than the object of your affection... FAKE: A. Romantic love arises from pre-existing yearnings. B. Romantic love begins suddenly, creating instant intimacy. C. Romantic love is blind. D. Romantic love is often one-sided; it loves from afar. E. Romantic love watches for small signs of reciprocation. F. Romantic love is often uncertain and fearful of rejection; it is exclusive, possessive, and jealous. G. Romantic love is a fantasy-trip, a prefabricated emotion projected onto others. H. Romance creates an illusion of oneness. I. Romantic love depends on imagination. J. Romance is being in love with love —attempting to actualize a feeling learned from others. K. Romantic love sometimes depends on manipulation. L. Romantic love is like watching a movie. M. Romantic love is an ecstatic feeling. N. Romantic love is an altered state of consciousness. O. Romantic love sees the beloved as perfect P. Romantic love causes violent mood-swings. Q. Romantic love causes preoccupation and distraction. R. Romantic love causes intrusive thinking. S. Romantic love causes compulsive, neurotic, dependent thoughts and feelings. T. Romantic love is an overwhelming experience. U. Romantic love is the most important thing in life. V. Romantic love includes suffering. W. Near its end, romantic love clings to any shred of hope. X. Romantic Love is temporary—lasting 18 months to 3 years. Y. When romantic love is over, it sometimes becomes hatred. Z. Romantic love resists analysis. Real: 1. Sexual attraction; 2. Mate-selection & Marriage; 3. Familiarity. From: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~parkx032/RLT-WEB.html but that's just cause I'm fk'ing lazy. For once, I can say the ice cold Brits got something right. They probably MADE the idea of romantic love popular as another means to divide and rule the populations they conquered. Resist the truth and take the consequences. I did and got D stroyed.
  13. http://i.imgur.com/f6xnuYK.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/2aZLdmI.jpg Look carefully. The BSSubIndexTrishape uses THE NUMBER 47, then the program knows to reference the BSLightingShaderProperty on line 47. The BSLightingShaderProperty uses 48 which points to the BSShaderTextureSet. You literally just double click and type in the number to the left of the line you want to use in the block details, hit enter, and it then rewrites the full name. This is different than when I showed you to replace the txt field, where you had to use a right click menu "Edit String Index" when you want to add the material file to the BSSubIndexTrishape or for you NiTrishape.
  14. Not for nothing, but you helmet looks awesome. Need to see the text column on the left side of the nifskope file for ppl to help. Idk htf you got to export a NiTrishape from Max, I can only export BSSubindex[something] but never do, I just export an obj with the multimedia & entertainment settings preset, take it into Bodyslide with a helmet reference, size it, copy over the bones, export without reference, go into Nifskope and fix the text[68] field that makes everything Bodyslide exports CTD and name my mesh something like MyHelmet, put in my bgsm reference again... Maybe you forgot to add the bgsm reference? The material file?* Cause in FO4, in game, the object only uses textures pointed to by the bgsm file. Since you got the textures to show in Nifskope, you may be fooled into believing it will show in game and it WON'T without the material file reference. But I can't tell with the left side of the Nifskope truncated. Either way, it's really hit or miss on the forums. Out of a hundred times I asked for help that would also help others, I've received effective help 3 times. Maybe 5 times. Hard to remember when the numbers are so low, and I'm learning keyboards now. It looks like modders still believe they're gonna make money someday from this. It ain't like Daz3d or iClone's marketplace and I doubt it ever will be, but it would be nice. Ppl actually do make some money thru "donations" which is quite surprising to me. ------------------------------------------------------------- *Oh, and adding a text field for the NiTrishape, you have to highlight the field, go to the bottom window (Block List Details), right click then left click on "edit string index", type in the change, then click ok. You can't just add the txt string directly on the line itself. Also don't worry about the warning that it will change the nif forevererer. http://i.imgur.com/4ufHMTI.jpg Idk y. Nifskope is designed to be easy for ppl that know the tricks and inscrutable to ppl who don't. Also, the better your stuff looks, the less likely you may be helped (same if you really have no skill at all)...but that's more an impression of an idiot savant counting unconsciously and maybe inferring things that don't exist but, I'm very rarely wrong. Like 6x in 1,000. 1 in 167 times makes no sense to me...
  15. http://i.imgur.com/S34FLuo.jpg What is special about helmets with glass that makes it not show up in game? When I moved the helmet, I moved both meshes exactly the same amounts. Exactly. I've talked to grumbly, and he said he'd wear the helmet. I tried with and without a bounding sphere, and with a sphere on one and not the other. It has to be something simple I'm missing. I'm using the helmet for personal use only. Grumbly is bitching about not having variety for his helmets. It's not for the mod for Grumbly, but maybe my avatar every now and then...
  16. @zanity As a mathematician, I'm still trying to unpack the phrase optimal maximum complexity. So like all good lazy ppl, I tried to google it, no go, but, if you mean the most amount of stuff before the game engine grabs it's chest and drops dead, I think I follow you. Then you get into optimization of the assets of the engine and the engine itself, which I have no clue about, so I can't say. I could ask my bro, he's a MS CS/CE, (he didn't think highly enough of himself to get a PhD, that's just his upbringing) but he always tells me to learn it myself, f'kr. He thinks my degree was harder to get than his, so he's jealous. Secondly, UE4 may be the way to go, but I'm learning Unity5 because it's Cinema Suite can make movies! So can UE4 but supposibly [i will continue to use this word even if the computers say it DNE] it's more programming intensive, but they are getting better making silly nodes instead... ...I think the modding community can make BETTER games than the AAA game production houses (except maybe The Division, it was freakin pretty! Gameplay, meh...NYC NO, I live there, NOT NYC) given the number of ppl we could field to make one game and the time limit of "not really a time limit" to get things right. The more I do things with professional software, the more I can actually get close to professional standard, and that shouldn't be the case in a couple of months with stuff. If you have the right access to knowledge, all this stuff is like being a car mechanic, breaking his mold to realize, f' this, I can design cars, mofo! I can do better! In the mean time, as you guys serve the societal caste you've been programmed to remain in...and add to games instead of considering making games and competing with things you obviously can do as well or better, as demonstrated with the mods everyone creates. The idea of creating modules like in any systems analysis approach does make sense. So start with something like a beginning town and quest out, or a beginning home base and quest out, fleshing out the countryside as you go as you create the universe makes sense. What I truly wonder about, is does it really take the huge resources of a game production house to make AAA games? Can't 100 ppl or more, just overwhelm such an approach, just like crappy laptops networked become a supercomputer? I think so. Should be interesting, but with Microsoft buying the animation engine, idk if we can even make ANY new animations at all...that is yet to be determined, EVEN IF the guy on nexus reverse engineers their stuff, it's still their stuff. All I want to know is: Will there be Whiskey? Cause without the "water of life" what's the point? And to the person that wondered why so many dialects in the UK (prior to Londanistan), it was the way ppl were able to identify and relate the castes within their society. Just like in the US, if you listen...if you listen.
  17. I remember this thought! In the beginning the Maya tutorials on their website are actually good enough for the basics. Idk if they tell you things like you don't have mental ray without downloading the Service Pack, or even you have to point Maya to the plugin, then activate the plugin, then select the render engine...Mental Ray is nVidia's iRay really. Either way, it's only complicated cause it's new to you. It's like the inverse of a new gf when even her selfishness is endearing. Then after a few months, you wonder if she's worth the trouble just to be in a queue for a ride. With stuff that's actually valuable, the longer you interact with it, the better it gets, unlike the former.
  18. IF you added the references to the textures in the BSShaderProperty[whatever] thingie, which Nifskope uses, but don't have a material file referencing the same textures and glow map in the txt field of the Trishape, then the it would work in Nifskope but not in game. FO4 only uses the bgsm file for texture pointing. If that's not it, forgive this interruption.
  19. Man I just tried to read through the Nexus Site's Terms of Service and almost did it...kinda normal, but it applies UK law too, and Idk that law at all, other than what I see on tv, like a priest being arrested for saying a derogatory word for a man in his sermon. Otherwise, as I'm learning UK law and "hate speech" that is specifically protected by at least 3 US Supreme Court rulings in the US but banned every where else in the world... Just say that Bronies are being discriminated against and that should help. I wonder if, given the white lady that thought she was a black lady, if thinking you're a Little Pony, can that get around all law? I think it could, but I've only been an attorney pro se (a man with a fool for a client). I'm almost certain, that bumper music and such has a time limitation such that they don't have to pay licensing fees, so I don't see why that can't apply here. What is Fair Use? The concept of Fair Use allows some 'running room' for educators, reviewers, reporters, researchers, and satirists who wish to use copyrighted materials as part of their work. ["what are you? a comedian?" Fk, yeah!] Most of the time copying is not legally a fair use. Unless you have the author's explicit permission, copying usually violates the author's copyright. Some of the time Fair Use applies. General Rules: The More You Use, the Less Fair Your Use Is Likely to Be! Limit of 2 years on using materials in a multimedia teaching projectLimit of 10% or 3 min of motion media, which ever is lessLimit of 10% or 1000 words text, which ever is lessUse no more than 3 poems by 1 poet or 5 poets from 1 anthology, up to 250 words from a poemLimit of 10% or 30 sec music from single musical work, can not substantially change musicWhole image but no more than 5 by 1 artist or photographerLimit of 10% or 15 images single published work, which ever is lessLimit of 10% or 2500 fields or cells from a database or data table, which ever is lessNo more than 2 copies of a project plus one back up not in useEach creator can have 1 copy if multiple creatorsThe Four Factor Fair Use Test Judgment of educational fair use is based on four considerations:. The use of a copyrighted work is for nonprofit educational purposes. The nature of the copyrighted work (is it appropriate for this specific educational use). The amount of material used in relation to the entire work (10% is a rule of thumb). The impact this use might have on the sales potential of the copyrighted workFair Use is a subtle concept, with many situational nuances. Are you posting the materials on a publicly accessible web site? If you answered yes to more than two of these questions, you may be violating fair use and copyright. Quoted from: https://21cif.com/tutorials/micro/mm/copyright/page4.htm From a legal perspective which I doubt Nexus (Not Lexus Nexus, this Fallout 4 Nexus) holds, even though we CAN use such material legally, their monetization model (which is probably from consumers of big data...hi big brother, and corporations!) has made them declare, an absolute ban of anything without an author's permission. I didn't even know until I was asking how to use models from different Beth games, Nexus considers THAT, between Fallout3 and Fallout4 for example as copyright NO GOES. I went whoa, almost burned my butt without even knowing it that time! All in all, the thing I find the most ironic, is as copyright actually gets up and running and strongly protects content makers, the only entities making content will be IBM's Watson and Google's DeepMind. It's too funny.
  20. @Jim_uk Your avatar is freakin me out now. All I get everytime I look at it now are thousands of flashes of women I have seen that look exactly like that. I can't figure out why I'm getting this reaction but it causes my OS to spike to 100% auto cataloguing these remembered images and it's suprisingly stressful. I've always had an idiot savant ability to count that is always uncontrollable, so I became a masta meditator just to detach from the process, but holy cow, that avatar must have snuck through into virgin territory! I think it may be my use of cats to learn all the cgi software nowadays, idk. Either way, forgive this interruption, carry on.
  21. It looks like stuff like "take cover" was discovered within the library of actions in the mess of records of the Fallout.esm, so that was able to be "added", or liberated from the not implemented content within the game, cause there's tons of stuff Beth did not delete, maybe cause their interns suck or something. Supposibly, there's tons of "to be deleted" and/or "replaced/obsolete" tags or something in the esm, but I did not verify that cause I have too much other things to learn at the moment.
  22. @PoliteRaider Idk where to even start to learn that stuff. Any suggestions on my first 2 or 3 places/modders tutorials? All I know is Caprica is not a spice. I mean, I'm knee deep in Daz and iClone now just to avoid banging my head against an invisible wall of ignorance. I've went so far as to watch V-Ray tutorials and that's almost torture!
  23. The mod would be to FO4 what Enderal will be to Skyrim. I know that sounds arrogant coming from a mod newb, but a man can dream, can't he? Only if you were not a man. Misandry has run amuck so, NO YOU CAN'T. Haven't you been watching tv, movies, reading magazines, online blogs...listening to your masters for the last 2 decades [ok more...]? Men are the reason for all things bad! So no, just because 99% of all inventions were made by men, and a specific race of man btw, no, you Cai[n']t. That's true even if you're innocent. I learned that about 4-5 years ago. You can be personally punished for other ppl's misdeeds. Heck, a whole population of ppl can be held accountable, look at the PC idea of "white privilege." Where is my white privilege, I needs me some cause I've been boned, I hit a glass ceiling, and I've been looked over for jobs by less qualified ppl based on quotas that somehow means it's not racist, and I don't feel good. It's all about feeling good, I don't feel good, yo. Meh, withdrawn. No one cares anyways. Even the ppl that are targeted have embraced their doom. Idk y I "beach" Never explain, never complain. No cookie for me tonight.
