  1. He should become a non mer human nord paladin, get dawnbringer uncorrected arels bow and shield and some fancy gold armor, avoid daedric quests. and opt for the quests of all the divines... how boring..not playing paladin but that kind of paladin.

  2.

I think a lot got axed at final release, and maybe there was an Uthgerd questline in the works. Just like Ysolda seems to be in the drug business and Ahlam (wife of Nazeem) has a key to a mansion that doesn't exist.

Ysolda is in the drug business?

I thought she was a normal merchant she should have asked for moonsugar instead of a mammoth tusk.

  3. Make a functional Saya and diva sisters companions from blood+ and I will give you a breath taking fan-fiction on which to base the mod and make it fit along with dialog...I found some people are better visually using the kit than me, and it should be perfect.

  4.

Wow theres certainly some stereotyping coming out here. And just because Uthgerd is "butch" as you put it doesn't necessarily mean she's a lesbian. You simply can't categorize people like that. (And Aela or Nadia or Ria the fully paid up Companions warriors aren't? Why? Because they're attractive?)

Speaking from personal experience you literally wouldn't know until they told you. :armscrossed: I've always suspected the Companions women of being more than merely furries but thats really the point of the game being a blank slate your imagination can wander wherever it decides to go.

As for Sapphire not being one because she's not butch enough and clearly needs a strong man to take care of her... if you want a mod full of cliche's thats your business I guess.

While it is true that it is not ideal to use stereotypes to make judgements about people, to say that there is not some truth in stereotypes is incredibly naive. I actually have gay friends, and gay work associates that fall into a lot of the stereotypes associated with gay people.

Are they bad people because they fall into these "stereotypical" categories? No.

Do I think less of them because they fall into these "stereotypical" categories? No.

I think you're blowing this way out of proportion. These are fictional characters that exist in a fictional world. There is no written material on the subject matter that is being discussed here in regards to the characters mentioned. The only data we have in regards to their sexual orientation is Bethesda's inability to decide, thus, everyone is bisexual. It has been already stated why some of us find this to be an objectionable design decision.

If modders were not allowed to make assumptions on things in regards to the games they mod, I would bet there would be a fair number of mods that would not exist. You also make a lot of assumptions on the mindset and opinions of those in this thread. I don't recall anyone saying they thought Cicero and Uthgerd were the only potentially gay individuals in the game.

I know in my specific case, I chose to only list one character (Uthgerd) because I didn't have the time to ponder the potential sexual orientation of marriageable character in the game. I did however second Cicero's nomination, but upon further reflection, he may be asexual or a necrophiliac.

Also, Aela does actually have some in-game evidence to suggest that she is at least bisexual. Her alleged romance with Skjor eliminates her as a candidate for being strictly a lesbian.

No one is implying any judgement about that, just telling people to use logic and reason, you are correct of course. For the record, some of the most talented artist in the world have been gay, like David Bowie (bi) Freddie mercury, and Oscar wilde . Its not a reflection on there talent or character its an observation.

  5. The OP presents a question so we can help with his mod. He wants our best guesses at who is gay. He's not asking us to declare 100% that someone is gay or not gay. Stereotypes usually originate from observations over time. They aren't always correct, but they help us guess in the absence of information.

Question: I tell you one person is behind door # 1 and another person is behind door # 2. I then tell you that door # 1 dude has dirt on his boots and door # 2 dude is wearing shoes without dirt on them. I then ask you to choose the door of the guy you would guess is the construction worker. $1000 is the prize. I hazard to say that you won't throw up your hands and guess the guy with clean shoes is the construction worker. This doesn't mean that you think all construction workers have dirty shoes OR that people with clean shoes can't be construction workers. This is a matter of personal probability.

It's also a matter of observation over a lifetime. I'm okay with your having different observations and different personal probabilities.

Edit: I was also curious about why you have to defer judgment about Cicero until you see him in game. Aren't you implying that there in fact are certain displays or affectations (stereotypes) that are acceptable to use in making this kind of judgment ?

I can tell because homosexuality in my view, in my theory, is genetic, or caused by upbringing or trama...I'm good at picking stuff up, I can mostly tell even a persons race over the phone, or even if a man is a priest or a teacher, or officer.. they are always like...how did you know? Fun at parties.

Its like fin said in the last dark tower book, telemetry doesn't lie. Its not really new age to think of using the scientific method, based on observations and past examples, using deduction logic and reason.

There are however exceptions to everything.

  6. Anna and the king of Siam, 1946, Rex was delightful in this, was great. Charming character.

Before than the devils carnival, was a treat...cant wait to see part 2 with heavens keystone cops.

It looks to be better than the genetic opera. Paul sorvino is in this too, playing god this time, no less.

  7. As a just completed custom race modder I'll give you the info on making a custom race.

You were correct in your assumption about the vampire portion; however you missed out on the werewolves compatibility also. To have vampirism attach itself correctly to the player you do need to make a vampire duplicate of the race though it needs to be built similarly to how the vampire race was built in regular Skyrim. Then it needs to be scripted into the regular vampirism script to change the race; however at that point you'll lose compatibility with mods like BV and Vampiric Thirst.

Similarly, werewolves need to be altered as well to accept your race. However doing so would cause incompatibilities between mods like Moonlight Tales.

So in the end it all depends upon you: Do you want your race to be compatible with overhaul mods or not? There is a third option which is the one that I went down which was to create a completely custom and standalone system for vampirism and werewolves; however I recommend that you only attempt doing so if you've got a really good grasp on the scripting system (you don't have to be "the best", but you need to understand what the functions mean and what they do exactly).

Whatever you attempt to do there will always be some incompatibilities between the race and overhaul mods until you script in functions using the GetFormFromFile() or create a compatibility patch between the 2 mods (though the latter method means that you would have to re-create the patch every time you update the script and the former method is built into your script and therefore doesn't need to be remade every time it works by mod install detection).

There is a mod called Race Compatibility (using this as a master file for your mod) though I never used it myself and am unsure of how well it works.

Hope this info helped you out.

    @skyquest32:

Why would you set the race with console? It obviously won't work 100%, that is for anything. I have some people that admitted to me when using a mod of mine that they attempted to console something and in the end they broke the mod in one way or another, the console is always screwing something up and it shouldn't be used to speed up gameplay elements that would happen in the game naturally (unless your debugging and know what your doing). Doing so could end up not only breaking a mod but using the console in vanilla Skyrim can also break something in the game (you might only notice it a couple of hundred hours into your playthrough though).

Custom Races can't loose vampirism, it means that whatever you were using has a bug in its scripting. The cook in the DB questline is an easy fix.

Turning vampires is part of Dawnguard and if you try to do it with console; again; it will make the people grey faced since it wasn't done by the scripts in the game and was forced through the console.

There are some pretty amazing race mods out there to classify them as non user friendly is a downside for you and not anyone else. Do WIP race mods exist, sure. However, complete race mods also exist and they are really fun to play with. Not all of them are for everyone, so you just have to find the one that works for you. But I wouldn't classify all race mods the same if I were you as you could be missing out on something that you would like.

No, I meant the tm compatibility as a user, I am saying this is meant for mod creators to use.

I Like custom races and hope one day to find one on its own compatible with better vampires that gives an ability to turn people, that's what I meant.

Amazing follower tweeks gives said ability also..the reason I used the console to set vampirsm is because, the dremora mod race creator says to, for the dremora race.

  8. I'm thinking... Every playable race has it's 'vampire' duplicate (I suppose so there will be no problem when (and if...) you will become a vampire while playing).

So, if i would create new race, should I add a 'vampire' duplicate for it as well? Should I point it somewhere to avoid any possible problems?

    Thanks for advice.

Ever time I have tried to make a new race a vampire its forced some cosmetic prob I don't want like a mismatched head and body if you try something like setvampirerace or whatever.

Also custom races keep losing there immortality, over and over, and the cook in the mq wont know them.

You prob cant turn someone normally in game without screwing them up head and body even with bv or aft, I have never tried for that reason, it would likely give a burnt or tan head mismatch. Or pale head and tan body.

The custom race mod in my experiences dose little to help in past anyway, unless its been updated or was using incorrectly, its more of a modders resource which you should include in your mod not a user friendly mod.

  9. How could it bother you? His cultists are CULTISTS. They're crazy/insane/cuckoo, and would kill you anyway if you didn't pay attention to them. Plus, Miraak is the strongest boss in the game, and he mocks you because you are "the noob dragonborn." Haven't you noticed that everyone in the game yells odd insults at you when in combat? I've heard an Imperial say; "You won't even live to regret this!" and a Nord say; "I will mount your head on my wall!" The Thalmor even have one towards any human race; "You are but a dog and I am your master!" or anyone else; "Elven supremacy is the only way!" Miraak saying you "have only killed a few dragons" is nothing, he says you "have done nothing with your power" if you have killed less, or even staggers with a crumb of respect when you kill hundreds of them.

I suspected the story-line might not be that promising because of his attitude, or that I needed to do something first before going there..like I reached that point without accomplishing enough first and had to go back to skyrim before the game could let me fight him.

Otherwise he wont bother with you hence I left. I did not want to spoil by reading as eventually would and will try again.

I meant why would cultist bother when the player character is not ready to face him in the story arch?

Possibly they were triggered too early by some mod or other.

  10. No, the mod community keeps the game fresh and alive, without such the game prob would not have its longevity.

Its like agd said in the book of general knowledge in the kingsquest 2 remake, ''romancing the stones'' some worlds were created perfect the first time, and some were left for the gods to remake.

The moders are the real gods of skyrim and the player, is the avatar of such.

  11. I'm back to Skyrim after about a year and just kinda getting my sea legs back, so to speak. (Been playing FO4, but was really disappointed in the questing side of things in that game so have shelved it for now.) Everywhere I turn it's like "oh yeah... that!" I'm only a bit into level 1 and kinda forgot that you can't get a vanilla companion right away. Just deciding whether or not to hook up with Vilja or not. Got her really late in the game last time, so it would probably be quite interesting to develop the storyline with her in tow. Not to mention the handiness of someone to carry stuff  And I love what I'm hearing about how she interacts with Inigo - maybe I'll give that mod a try along the way. Decisions, decisions. Just kinda rambling here, but it's coming back to me that the only thing that bothered me about Vilja (nothing about the mod, just a personal thing) was her occasional sniping at Serana. Really wish they could be friends, as I just love traveling with Serana. I find her to be such a sympathetic character with what I I find to be a really tragic backstory. I recall wishing that the PC could have some dialogue to stick up for Serana a bit in those sit'ns. Oh well...

Sofia sounds like a really well done mod, but for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me that much. Kinda like what skyquest 32 said about not quite fitting into the game as well as Vilja.

Whoa.... wait.... just saw the part in Skyquest32's post about the marriageable Serana mod. For realz? I am SO going to look into that. I think I'd heard about that a while back, but for some reason I thought it was kinda buggy. Sounds like maybe I was wrong about that. Edit: Hmmmn.... going by the comments thread it seems a lot of peeps are having trouble with that mod and the author isn't too involved in things. Anyways, sorry, don't mean to derail the thread.

No it works fine, also get serana dialog edit let it run after the romance mod unlocks together many things. no game breaking bugs.

Serana is romantic and adorable. your best bet and playing through dawnguard you two have a real history together. I have found a simple solution to anything I posted about concerning that mod, the author being there is non relevant as of now to its working.

It seems like it just made it like it should have been, almost like the original intention was the bug...your letting seranna do what she really would have done.

Shes the vampire dragonborn's girl ultimately. She dose not desire any other followers getting in the way of that...in it together.

Problem with vilja is that unlike herself.. the actors that come with her esp seem childish on one hand, like Saturday morning cartoonish...and also a bit stoned on the other.... like they have been sedated or confused slightly sometimes.

  12. Mod called showracemenu, you can change all aspects race on the fly, your character is reborn, the only little glitch is that you gain a level each time you do it. Just don't use the lore version, you teleport to customization when you cast this spell. Its here on the nexus.

  13. what would be cooler would be a mod with a storyline after you completed all of dragonborn where parthenex or durnavir, offers to make you dragonkin in body as well as blood, so you turn into this 7 foot tall version of drakkin from everquest 1.

He would breath fire on you and burn your body and soul imbuing you with his essence and if you live, he becomes your dragon father.

Of course you could then not be a vampire or werewolf, very muscular but not ugly bulky some dragon features aesthetic but not freaky. You get a new breath attack and dragon color and parthy, gives you quests about upgrading yourself every 5 levels over 100.

  14. For personal use, copyright is of no issue. Have at it if you only plan on using it for yourself. However, if you plan on sharing it here (I'm assuming that is what you want) then you cannot use assets from another game. It's not a matter of whether or not the mod is free, it's the fact you're using it. Case in point? The Metal Gear Solid 1 Unreal Engine 4 remake was recently cancelled because Konami demanded it be shut down.

Were they using Konami owned models or audio files? No, they made everything from scratch to try and avoid legal issues. But because they were recreating MGS1, even though it was a non-profit remake, they were remaking a game Konami owns the rights to. This is my Skywind and modding projects like it are not on the Nexus. In the very best case scenarios they are in a legal grey area. But the might of thee corporations can swing down at any time.

However, considering the scope of your project, you should be able to remake the character and have someone else voice her and be okay. You're not exactly remaking the game. Just don't port assets into Skyrim, and make it all yourself (or have someone help you). I know it's a bummer, but it is what it is. Modding and the law can be weird like this.

I helped remake a point and click adventre game old style, this formt is something else. Learning kit, but without her voice it just wont be april.

Another idea I have is a mixture of blood+ and trinity blood mechanics for vampires, though I wont make this ever. Too complicated.

It would be good even for moral vampires like saya and Able Nightroad, though saya's morality is highly questionable and unforgiving in my view. Poor diva.

Still, a follower that's a lesser vampire you feed from as an evolved vampire like a crusnik, strong enough to feed on repeatedly would be good, and I suppose they feed normal.

A big dark angel reaper transformation as a alt vampire lord cosmetic form with a bound weapon like able's.

The blood flows to you from slain victims probably non ally vampires, for this effect in vl form.

Would go great with better vampires and he should make such.

  15.

ive just formatted my hdd and i kept my mod organizer with some 31gb of mods in it and ive just got a fresh install of skyrim, is it possible to get my old mod organizer working with the fresh skyrim install?

I don't see how it wouldn't, unforntunantly I've done my share of fresh installs and mod organizer hasn't had any problems. Just make sure the directories match with the previous install

Will the brand new nmm put in the old bat files and so they can now, once more be found opened?

  16. At the college the pony tailed gate girl demands you join, and I don't really want to run amok at the college another time.

May be eccentric and silly but I don't want to abuse, be rude or show them I can do whatever I want.

its as I say, very rude and inappropriate.

If I need to talk to people about scrolls...visit the forge to pick up my succubus follower who spawns there and such, besides gate crashing, it is a problem.

Besides I might want to actually join latter.

The cute elf is a problem.
