you cannot go third person mode until a short way into the 'tutorial', because your character isn't generated yet. Although, if you lack the patience to stay in 1st person for 5 minutes of the game (not to mention being too mindless to look at the controls to find out how to do it) then maybe this isn't the game for you..

Support for a guy afraid of big spiders
Ashbean replied to banditjingx's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
maybe you should learn the difference between a phobia and a rational fear, instead of embarrassing yourself with your callous ignorance.. OP: If you are able to kill it, i think the best course would be to walk past along the wall, with your camera constantly pointing at the wall/floor. That's the only spider in that dungeon, if i recall correctly, so you should be able to go on playing with no problems later on. If not, you can always use the TCL console command to fly around the room, ending up on the other side, although the spider will still be there -
As tirick said, the uesp has all the book's contents, and it's not affiliated with bethesda in any way, so I can't see any problem with making them available for kindle, as long as you don't claim ownership or sell it. and THANKS for doing this, I've always been impressed by the sheer amount of lore written for these games, and never got around to reading most of the books, so maybe now i'll get a chance to. nice work

i play both (usually male, but my archer is female) and i only ever play in first person so it's not really about what i want to look at all day. It's just about the character itself- sometimes i just feel that a specific gender better suits my character, and it seems nonsensical to only play your real gender in any game- by that logic we should all be playing humans, using no magical abilities- I don't play an RPG to play as myself.

so, like some sort of airship-type thing? it was doable in previous games, but i'll be honest, i don't know how it'd work with the current engine
-
He just happened to be the nearest person when i first become a werewolf. I think his corpse is still floating under the dragonsreach bridge, actually- will have to check when i next play
-
it's an annoyance for me too- i don't like wearing elven or above, it just doesn't fit in with the setting at all, but i have to in order to progress. I think there are some armor replacers out already, that replace higher level gear with the models of fur/leather, so i suppose that will have to do for the time beign
-
this might seem silly, i know, but when is your earliest manual save? it's entirely possible you have an old save just out of helgen/some other point right at the start of the game, where you will still be level one- could be worth checking

i'm sure lydia is in there somewhere..
-
i almost changed it at the start, but thought better of it- i find it's easier to think of it as "mainhand/offhand" rather than "lefthand/righthand"

well, building a boat or finding a bridge USUALLY helps bypass streams, although, really, in skyrim your character has no problem swimming, so i don't see the issue. ontopic: as far as i've heard that no longer works? And more to the point... why? what possible reason could you have for this?
-
on a side note, it's quite funny to find them drifting downriver days later, miles away from their original location
-
Seems good in principle, but doesn't really work- It won't translate actual known words- like the dragon shouts, Force or Balance, for example- correctly. I'm guessing this is done letter by letter?

Killing arresting gusrds for strealing....is this bad?
Ashbean replied to isamu99's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
are you sure this isn't some kind of bug? i've gone on a few killing sprees and i've not come across even ONE character i couldn't kill- even in riverwood. -
I had the same problem with lydia not wearing my beautifully crafted Dwarven armor, that i smithed, improved, and enchanted just for her :( then we got into combat and she decided that THEN she wanted to equip it

So, i got to thinking the other day, that armor at higher levels just doesn't fit with the setting- it annoyed me when i had to replace my leather armor with elven, because it's significantly better stat-wise. My character is a kind of sword-and-board barbarian chap, and i do NOT want to be running around in full sets of armor crafted from the finest moonstone. This would also fit archers- what i propose is another skill tree (if at all possible with the CK) what essentially acts as a leather-based smithing alternative. Leather and hide armor gets pulled into this tree, and new armor would be implemented at higher skill levels, with the highest tier being roughly equivalent to glass when improved. This essentially gives us 'true' light armor, with the current elven/glass/etc being 'medium' armor (although still governed by the light armor skill). Naturally, there would have to be some kind of bonus to wearing them, maybe a stamina increase. The skill tree could perhaps also be expanded to include things like cooking, fletching, and such. This is by no means a real request, and it's something that i may do myself if time allows- i'm just throwing out the idea to see what people think,

a few ideas of my own: -you can't sprint when severely injured -waiting no longer restores health/passive health regen removed, you have to sleep to restore health, or use potions/food/healing spells -make nighttime significantly darker, and maybe your sleep levels drop faster at night? (maybe not for khajiit) will add more if any occur to me

this would be amazing to see- especially morrowind, as we'd see how it is now after the red mountain eruption- maybe all the towns would be ruined/

where can this mod be found? did a quick search for it and found nothing *EDIT* nevermind, found it- was looking on tesnexus not skyrim nexus :)

well, you wouldn't expect to seem many of them- they've got no real reason to be there. Unlike Cyrodiil, which is the cultural hub and capital of Tamriel, and VVardenfel, which is, i think, an important trading hub for ships, there's not going to be a whole lot of racial diversity. There's many nords. Imperials too, because of the empire's presence. High elves because of the dominion's ties to the empire. Dunmer refugees due to Morrowind being inhospitable. Beyond that, people need a very specific reason to go there, hence the rarity of the other races But you have an important message to the jarl- if you recall the gatekeeper wasn't going to let you in anyway.

User Interface / Quick-key weapon/spell combos
Ashbean replied to Altissimus's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
problem with hotkeys is you can't specify which hand you want it to be assigned to- and you still need 1 hotkey per spell/weapon. I switch between my shield, ward and heal fairly often against dragons, but it will often replace my weapon instead. I'm sure that will be modded soon enough -
I could be wrong, i suppose- but i've always noticed that i see more of them at lower levels at higher levels. Almost all dragons i come across now aggro onto me straight away, but back near the start only a few would.
-
i'm fairly sure these are higher level dragons that are too high for you to kill- so they don't aggro onto you.

just one suggestion (i haven't read all 4 pages, so my apologies if this has already been said) regarding halving magicka cost- maybe lowering it by 20-25% or so, and then reducing it by a further X% per skill point for that school? after all, it makes sense that, if you were very inexperienced with conjuration, you'd find it much more difficult to cast the spells, but they will get easier with practice?
