  1. Re: Archive invalidation.

OBMM can handle this automatically for you. If you don't use OBMM, Why not? It makes many things relating to mods much simpler. Including Archive Invalidation.

On main OBMM screen, look Right - find and click on Utilities.

On the drop down menu select Archive Invalidation

The default settings are usually sufficient

Click on Update now. A done box will appear when it is finished.

Do this whenever you think it is needed - Or when you see problems.

    That's it!

OMG, I didn't check OBMM:P I looked now, and found it right away:) thanks mate

  2. I can't download it right now, but tomorrow I'm in school and there I can download it, so at least tomorrow I can give you some help how to install the archive invalidation.:)

EDIT: Dammit, a double post..sorry for that..

    Thanks buddy:)

LOL I had a double post too

  3. You have to overwrite files. Almost always, the times it asks you to overwrite files is when the folders converge.

For example, you may be installing an armor mod. You have to put the file Cuirass.nif into data\meshes\armor\Cuirass.nif. There's a folder in there as well that goes data\meshes\architecture\building.nif.

If the two folder structures meet, it will ask you to overwrite things. But it won't, it'll just merge the folders. Usually when a file is overwritten, it's due to the fact that both files are the exact same, such as when you install two mods that use the same modder's resource. So no harm there either.

Cool, I didn't know that:S maybe I'll try downloading the mods again and see if something overwrites:P

  5. The most common reason for these 'yellow pyramids' is improper mod installation. And installing a bunch of mods at once doesn't make it easier to find.

Normally when you install, a message will pop up warning of a possible overwriting and asking if you want to do it any way. Answering no means the Meshes and textures will not be installed (you just told it not to) always answer yes. It will not overwrite anything - it will append the new stuff to the folder without doing anything to the original stuff.

If all else fails Bben's Oblivion Revert to Vanilla game

    http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=340

Then install one at a time and test before adding another - the time you think you saved by installing a bunch of mods at once will be more than lost trying to find which ones are causing problems.

Thanks bben, but I don't install mods that require overwriting:S Is it possible that it's demanded it without me noticing? Remember, I'm an utter n00b:P

  6. Oh Yeah, I forgot about it-do you use OBSE (Oblivion script extender)? Some mods need it. Just download it on tesnexus and copy the files into the Oblivion folder (not the data folder) where the Oblivion.exe is and then run the game with OBSE.

I downloaded Oblivion script extender, and it fixed a couple of small problems (missing lights and such) but I'm still missing a lot:( How do I use the Archive Invalidation?

  7. Use a program like 7-zip or j-zip to install your mod files into oblivion. Both of them are available for FREE on TESNexus.Folders that are labelled distant lod, meshes, textures, sounds, voices, trees, and bsa's,esp's,and esm's go into your data folder.A program like OBSE(Oblivion Script Extender) or the Construction Set(CS) is different and requires you to install files into the Oblivion folder. You will want to download Oblivion Mod Manager(OBMM) and learn how to create OMOD"s out of your favorite downloads. Read the pinned topics and the "how to" guides on the forums, they contain alot of useful information and links to step-by step guides.

I use 7 - zip so that ain't the problem:) the problem is that I can't/don't know how to fix missing meshes and textures:P Are there any guides those topics`?

  8. So, I have some problems mods ruining the RPG experience in my game, by adding yellow pyramids to the game. I've talked to some people on the Newbie forum, and they directed me here....

Well, they explained what was wrong, but seeing how I'm an utter n00b, I can't fix it myself:P

So here's the list over problem mods:

    - Verone House Bloodlines (allmost everyting, from the houses to the people are either invisible or yellow pyramids)

    - Vergayun (the new food types are pyramids and the tombstone of the pirate is screwed up)

    - None of the versions of RealSwords are working

    - Gold and silver bars (they're just pyramids)

    - Gold Coin Bagger (same problem as the one above)

May the eight and the one watch over you.

  9. I have'nt played with mods for a long time ago, so I probably can't help you with these, also cuz my internet connection sucks so I can't download them or it would take years, so I can't test it out...But if you want you can make a new topic in the oblivion mod truobleshoot section, there are members who can probably help you, they have more experience than me and also more people will see that you need help over there...

Just follow the link and start a new topic

    Mo troubleshooting - Oblivion

I hope you can get your mods to run properly

Thanks mate, you're awsome^^ may I add you as a friend on the Oblivion page?:)

  10. So if you really installed the mods correctly, I don't know what could cause the problem...

Read the readmes of the mods and watch out cuz probably the aren't compatible to each other...Maybe this causes the problem...

Do you have any other mods installed or only these?

Well I removed these since they didn't work out. I'm currently using all the official mods(except for mehrunes razor) and the following:

    - Adaman fortress

    - Arcane Bank of Cyrodiil

    - Azure Palace

Thanks once again guys, this is one of the best forums I've ever experienced:) Sorry for my horrid English btw, it's not my first language:P

  12. Normally when you download a mod here, the meshes are already in a folder called meshes, the textures are in a folder called textures and so on. You just have to extract everything into the oblivion data folder.

Well, I've put the meshes in the Oblivion meshes file (in the data file), and the textures in the textures file etc, but they still screw up:( Aren't it like some of the different file - types (NIF - files are meshes and DDS - files are textures)? Thanks a lot for helping me out mate:) I appreciate it.

  13. Yes, yello pyramids mean, that there are some meshes missing Did you install the mod correctly/put the meshes in the meshes folder in the data folder?

    Btw. welcome here

I think I've importet etc correctly...are there any tags for the different things? like A - files are meshes, B - textures etc.?

    Thanks mate:)

  14. Okay, so I'm new here, kinda, and I've been adding mods to my beloved Oblivion for quite some months now. However, I've got a huge problem! Yellow pyramids are showing up in my added mods and screwing up the entire RPG feel. I think there might be something uncool with the meshes or textures. Anyhow, please help:) you can post here or send me a private message on the forum.

May the eight and the one watch over you.
