I'm currently playing Silent Hill 4: The Room. Good game :)
mhmmm :) Homecoming was pretty sweet too...but another game that runs like trash on the PC. There are sometimes I wish I still had a console for those.
I just played a demo of Amnesia: The Dark Descent......and I will never play it again. I screamed so loud lol...surprised the neighbours didn't come knocking on my door. Sheesh, I thought Silent Hill was scary...this is far worse. No weapons, dark as heck, and....urgh...I'm gonna have nightmares now lol
Amnesia was a really solid and eerie game. I beat it once and started it a second time, but then got distracted by other games.
Right now Minecraft owns my soul. It's been a long time since I really got into a game this much.

Ouch! I haven't played as much as I would like, but I've been reading about multi-player at work and the capacity for griefing sounds very high. I've only played single player and have not gotten as much done as I want. Every time I go to work on my mountaintop castle, I get distracted by ore when tunneling at night, or the island I found Saturday that had an active lava pool right at the surface so I could finally get some obsidian and make an excursion to the nether. Then I set up an underground tunnel network to connect my original shelter with my greenhouse/bakery, my nether gatehouse, and my dock so my using the oddly shaped mountain that was near my original spawn as the site for a haunted style castle hasn't fared well. I've only found one pumpkin so far so need more of those for jack'o'lanterns for the right ambience.

I use a ton of mods, yes including the skimpy outfits and body mods, but also quest mods and things like the better potion bottle mod. There are mods out there for pretty much every taste and you can ignore the ones you don't like so there is no point in atttempting to curtail other people's creativity.

How is MP for this game overall? I just pre-ordered it yesterday and ended up playing the beta so much I was a bit late to bed considering my wake-up time! The game is as addictive as heck in single-player.

Steam has issues, but the benefits for me at least, outweigh these annoyances. Case in point, after getting my new computer set up since I have all my files backed-up to my external drive, it was child's play for me to get my 220+ gigs of Steam games up and running without having to fart around with re-installing all these games, not to mention some company's lovely DRM and registry hassles. Steam also gives indie games a great platform for more exposure of their products. Local game stores have steadily been getting worse and worse with PC game availability so I buy more and more via Steam and/or Amazon.

No, that is not it at all. I have NO desire to be male. None. I don't play games as 'me', though, either. My characters are always 'they' - separate from 'me'. I interact with them as though they are a separate entity doing what I suggest or tell them to do.
I certainly do NOT wish I was male. I suspect the same is true for a lot of guys playing females. We play opposite sex because we like LOOKING AT THEM.
Exactly Slof!
I've never seen why some people complain about this or assume someone is gay for wanting beefacke in their game. In City of Heores/Villains, one of my best in-game friends is a lot like you Slof, she always plays male characters and always has them show a lot of skin and she has a healthly sex life with her husband in RL but her characters in game are gay/bisexual men. I always play females and often, although not always, have them show a lot of skin so we got along famously.
My view has always been to tolerate beefcake along with my beloved cheesecake as some people like one or the other and some like both, and yes women can have a healthy and active view on sex just like a lot of men. Also there is nothing wrong with being gay, straight, bisexual, transsexual etc.

I love Zero Punctuation. I check these out every week and I often agree with his assessments. He has a lot of valid points buried in his very frank and humorous PoV.

Heh.
My male troll got hit on more(by ladies-his name WAS Casinova McHandsome though, big joke there.) in WoW than either of my Blood Elfs.
That's because Trolls are irresistibly cool.
Oh yeah. When I still played WoW both my main (discipline-specced priestess) and my tank-specced DK were female trolls. I like the looks, especially if you pick the one face that is noticeably more attractive than the others, and their 'take no ****' attitude makes them a lot of fun to play. I preferred them over female blood elves which are awfully anorexic looking although my paladin is one. Some of the female troll quotes were hilarious and my favorite flirt emote of all time is the one troll woman one:"While enraged and in heat, a female troll can mate over 80 times in one night. Are you prepared?"
I always play females when possible, regardless of the 'eye candy' level (although I do like that of course). I even played a female operative in Ravenshield and you only see yourself in that game through the death cam or reflections. I just find them more interesting to play, and barring exceptions like Half-Life and F.E.A.R., I won't even play a game where the only character choice is male.

I wasn't on the internet till 2001 due to paranoia and I've always had a router and Anti-Virus and only visit a few sites once I did get on. Any remotely suspicious E-mails get deleted unread as well. It's possibly an AV program quashed a virus here and there without telling me, but I've only had the one time I had to deal with a virus actually affecting anything. I have done more clean OS installs than I care to remember over other issues (Windows corruption being the reason for at least a few), but also for the virus that Karen got from clicking a specious link. I've always been pretty anal about what gets DLed and scan frequently, and have done complete wipes several times over the years even with no problems just to start with a clean slate.
Speaking of BitDefender, it's time to get something new since it's being a complete git trying to get it installed on the new machine. Time for some research!
The new comp is here and already up and running so it's all moot now anyway. I have my external drive packed with info from the old machine so I didn't even need to network them to get things rolling. Finally left XP behind for Win7.

No. Games in and of themselves do not cause violent behavior. Certain people with a previous trend towards violent behavior may be highly attracted to the more violent games simply by their nature, but they do not actually cause the violent behavior. Note a very similar argument can be and has been made for death metal, and other forms of entertainment violent movies, etc.). I myself tend to play more middle-of-the-road video games, but have played some of the more violent ones as well. Now if you tack that onto my love of Death Metal I should be a raving lunatic by some 'experts' logic, but the worst thing I've ever been involved with is a couple of speeding tickets, and I have no plans to change that.

Just a heads up, time to fill that drive with stuff you'll never play.
Sounds like me, but some of these cheaper Steam games are surprisingly good though. I'm going to get the complete FEAR pack for sure. I already own the first one, but this is a good chance to grab the whole thing for $10.

When it started acting odd the first thing I did is a full system scan and found nothing as usual. I've only ever had 1 virus in my many years of using PCs and that one was from an old GF clicking bad links. Last night I was DLing stuff directly to my new external drive and it froze my computer up again and had to reboot three times to get it to work again! The backup to the external is all done so all I need now is to get the new one and plug this puppy in. This drive is one of the best investments I've ever made, and it wasn't even that expensive.

That does sound a lot like my issue. I ended up getting a 1TB external HDD to get my backups done and the new rig should be here by Tuesday. This one is so bad now that I had to reboot 6 times to get it to backup drive E without hanging indefinitely on selecting it. And this was after it did drives F and G with no hitches and G has all my Steam info, but the 'out of resources' error I got on doing a far smaller chunk of E until it finally let me do it.
I appreciate the help folks. Sometimes PC issues are almost ludicrously simple, and sometimes they give me ulcers.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Bethesda, and it's very good of you to ask for opinions!
I agree with TheCalliton, give us some attractive preset options since manipulating the sliders in Oblivion was a pain for those of us lacking artistic talent. Go ahead and keep the sliders, but give us some preset options that we can click for attractive faces so we can avoid spending time making a face only to have them appear to be viewed through a fishbowl. The modding community has been indispensible in this regard.
Otherwise, I also think we need to return to a more Morrowind style of game. Oblivion is great, but a bit over-simplified compared to it's immediate predecessor.

Time for some old-school thrash yet again with Dark Angel: Darkness Descends:

Ah ok thanks. That's on my list of possible acquisitions as well.

DA2, DE:HD, TW2, ME3, TES:V, D3.... so many RPGs... so little money... by the end of the year we'll all be broke.
Ok I think I know all of these (Assuming TW2 is The Witcher 2) except what is DE:HD? I probably know it but can't place the acronym.
I never got a chance to play ME:2 as I bought ME a long time ago and can't find the damn box and I didn't want to start ME:2 without playing ME so I'll just fall farther behind when they make ME3!

It's definitely a HDD issue. I was checking some files on my C partition when it spat up some errors at me. The thing is this follows at roughly 6 months after I had removed my older HDD I was using to boot with that was also acting odd and had corruption, but was both different and worse than the current behavior. Having 2 drives both get this on the same setup makes me suspect something is causing this beyond a simple OS or HDD fault. This makes ordering the new one even more important than I at first suspected.

I've done OS reinstalls before in fact not too long ago on this very machine. The odd thing is that Itunes briefly worked again after the repair install and it wasn't until I rebooted again that it stopped working. The service pack downgrade was only due to the fact that my factory CD is with SP2 and I didn't DL updates yet as I always do them manually. The MoBo is rated fine for the drive and the RAM I installed is within the manual as well when I built this one some time ago. The only major hardware change I've ever done after building it was to upgrade the video card, and that was in May.
I just got an update on my new machine as it's in the testing phase so soon I'll have a much better rig and XP will not likely be supported much longer. I was loathe to go to Vista as even my 2 IT friends were not overly happy with it, and knew I was going to have to get 7 soon anyway, I just pushed to get it a little early with the situation.
I also now see a small graphical anomaly on the windows boot screen, a pair of small colored 'streaks' to the right of the windows logo. I've never seen that before either.
I appreciate the help everyone.

I've actually gotten some crazy deals on Steam. This is especially true with their specials and of course the independent games. Two weeks ago I got a pack of 5+ indie games for $5 total as an example, and I got such things like the complete ID and Star Wars packs for some nice low prices. They seem to have high prices on big name games right at release, but are otherwise quite reasonable.

It wasn't the registry unfortunately. I ran the cleaner till it came up with no issues and it still wouldn't shut down or let Itunes or Nero run. I shut it down via the switch since it would not shut down normally and the same issues are occurring. The registry was fairly clean overall as I do try to avoid too programs from mucking about with it. I have only done minor registry tweaks as I am not 100% happy with messing with them even after my classes. It appears to most likely be a RAM or HDD issue now.
Since it is otherwise ok and the new rig should be here by the 27-28th I'll just live with this till it gets here.
Thanks again for the help.

Thanks all!
I will try the registry cleaner and go from there. The last time I used such a tool, I didn't have such strange problems as I usually run a pretty tight ship. The only real upside is that I was saving for a laptop for my upcoming classes and then I found I can do them all online so the money I was going to use on the laptop I used on the new machine.
I appreciate the help.

I just got Greed Corp for $8.99 US thanks to Steam's blurb when I was perusing the sales tab earlier. Steam certainly has it's share of issues, but this game is prime example of where Steam helps independent game companies get their product out to more people. This game is hilarious and quite fun. Good turn-based games are getting harder and harder to come by. Greed Corp is like Settlers of Catan meets Worms. Definitely worth a look whether via Steam or not.

Been awhile since I posted. Vomitory's newest album; Opus Mortis VIII, came out earlier this year. Here's the first track from the album called: Regorge in the Morgue.
