  1. Yes, the castle seems to bug out on Preston. I can only report my success to him. I can't recruit him, not that I wanted to, since he's one of the most boring characters in my book, and I can't equip him with new stuff. Tried it with a different player, still the same result.
  2. Well, first, tastes are different. So something appealing to me might not appeal to you and vice versa. Secondly, Obsidian are much better storytellers than Bethesda has ever been. And FNV was created by Obsidian. I knew that when I bought that game and fully expected a rather shallow narrative and rather bland characters. By lowering my expectations, I was pleasantly surprised in some instances and not disappointed by others, since I got what I expected.
  3. If I had to choose, I'd probably drop BOS. They seem like bigots to me and I never could warm up to Danse. But that's the same in any role playing game I've ever played. My least liked character was always the Paladin. Their mindset of black and white is simply not appealing to me. I'm still in my trial phase and so I have explored with multiple characters. The only reason I see for joining BOS at all is for some of the cool loot you get. But that's just my impression, based on my personal preferences. Next time round, I probably role-play my joining as an infiltrator to turn on them for my own profit.
  4. There's an issue I ran in after the second castle mission. The one where you explore the old arsenal and build artillery. On returning to Sanctuary, where I had Preston parked, he did react to me fulfilling the mission, but no dialogue options were available. Neither could I trade, nor recruit him as a follower ever since. Now I'm not sure, if this is simply a bug or if he can actually be taken over by a Synth and this is the symptom. Anyone had this?
  5. And what exactly is wrong with a sense of entitlement? They have opened that can of wirms, they have pounded the PR drum about releasing it together or very close to the game's initial release.
  6. Frankly, that goes for every product. Release when it's ready, not when it coincides with a sexy date.
  7. And it's something totally unheard of for a customer to be selfish. Even more so, since the CK was originally presented as being released together with the game or very close to its release date.
  8. No, they didn't in Oblivion. Only in Morrowind.
  9. Can't say I felt that way. Mainly because I was sure my character is immortal through that dragon attack anyway. And knowing Elder Scroll games, I tried as fast as I could to get to the point where I have real control over my PC. Thinking back to Morrowind, yes, it was a little boring. But I didn't see that much of an improvement. Neither with Oblivion nor with Skyrim. And I didn't expect it at that stage. The tutorial is always something on the get it over lines.
  10. I didn't play Arena or Daggerfall, but how is this beginning so different from Oblivion's? You're a prisoner - check Something happens, leading to your escape - check You move through dungeons to get to freedom - check When I first found me on that cart, I kept thinking, not again a prisoner.
  11. That what I was thinking of too. Corporate life 101: If a company makes a certain business decisions it's for the benefit of the company, not for the benefit of some third party.
  12. Well, then thanks a bunch for ruining it for the whole scene.
  13. Frankly, yes, I see them roll over after some shadow boxing to appease their citizens. They did it with SWIFT, they will do it again. And I'm not necesarilly talking about the parliament but the national governments. It will be introduced by the backdoor, by the US making deals with certain member states always reacting as if it's the second coming whenever someone in the US farts.
  14. As the old Aerosmith song goes - dream on. If they start charging for console mods, do you honestly think they would exempt the PC? There's money to be made and that's all that matters to the corporate world. And how would that motivate people to start modding? Chances are that some greedy little gits fiddle a bit with the creation kit, without any real knowledge of course, to upload to a platform where greed is kind of rewarded. You would see quantity, not quality if making money was the motivating factor.
  15. Because it opens a door. It sets precedence. Now it may just be about piracy but I think most of us should be beyond blind trust in our governments. In the wake of the supposed fight against terrorism our rights have been cut and our privacy invaded. Politics usually doesn't stop at the first step. SOPA introduces at least some kind of censorship by blocking certain websites. Similiar developments can be observed in some EU member states claiming to fight child pornography. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm all for stopping child pornography, but by simply denying access to servers that may or may not contain incriminating material, you only fight the symptoms and open yet another door for the control freaks in our parliaments.
