One of my greatest disappointments in Skyrim was the lack of mail armor.I have looked and looked for mail mods and have had issues with nearly all of them. Before someone pipes up and says doing it yourself, I would if my PC could handle the creation kit, but it can't. Until I get a new machine I am dependent on the mods other have created. The issues I encounter are either the mod requires a much more powerful computer than I have and doesn't load properly (which perplexes me since other mods that are much more extensive than an armor skin work just fine), or the author really over estimates how hard it should be to make. I am an armorer by trade. I made mail for years before cheap imports made it impossible. Mail is NOT difficult to make. Not even rivited. Time consuming yes, but not difficult at all. There is no legitimate reason to require it to be in the advanced armor perk level. A light mail version, short sleeve, mid thigh length, perfect for the elven perk level, and a full hauberk, long sleeve, knee length, would fall in the dwarven armor skill level. Personally knowing armoring as I do I would have put both all the way down in the steel armor perk level since that is as difficult as it actually is, but if you wanted to require folks to be a bit more experienced before they could make it, that is as high as I think it should be. And if you really want to have surcoats and jerkins available, please don't make them mandatory and COVER the mail. Mail could be worn over jerkins, and not everyone wanted or had a surcoat. Why have a mail armor available if all you are going to do it hide it under something? This wasn't meant to be a pissy whiny post but it has been very frustrating, both that Bethesda did not include a mail armor option, and then not finding a mail mod that either works on my machine or isn't seriously overbuilt.
