  1. Update: Checking paths in DAMM http://i.imgur.com/nBP9TQj.png Finally had a chance to do something. From what I can see it looks fine. I don't have the Dragon Age Toolset but it still puts it there. Anybody think this might have to do with "Dragon Age: Origins - Update Service Status: Stopped"?
  2. Welcome and cool! The job title and description is very intriguing. It sounds like streamlining and designing the site for the mods to be "delivered" easily to the users. I'm just a little interested in "office culture" as in job titles and how it describes the jobs along with it. Anyways, that was very off-topic. Welcome, again!
  3. Will do and carefully and slowly look and make changes if possible and report and post changes, if any. Thanks. Just assumptions and trying to cross examine the differences as to what changes may have affected DAMM. DAUpdater installed the FtG UI Mod (among others) without problem on my Windows 7 Desktrop, while the DAUpdater on my Windows 8.1 Laptop always resulted in an "error" with any of the ".dazip" files I tried to install with it. I have to assume that the DAUpdater is not working with Windows 8.1 (currently*) but does work with Windows 7. But a simple storage change shouldn't have an effect on a freshly downloaded DAUpdater.exe, right? Unless the optimizations for the SSD may have affected it (deactivated prefetch or indexing services or the changed settings of virtual memory... no idea, just throwing out ideas). So from my results with the hardware I got to work with, this is the results concerning DAUpdater but I do know that DAMM worked fine pre-SSD change. (*Note: I never touched the DAUpdater.exe before the change to an SSD. DAMM gave me no reason to even look for it. So, I wouldn't know if DAUpdater.exe was working for me pre-SSD.) If anything, it doesn't really matter. I could just use DAModder but DAMM, for me, manages mods much easier, as well as the use of ".override" package creator feature and being the only manager that can deal with ".override" files and I'd like it to work for me again. Also, I just want to figure out what happened.
  4. I had to switch out my storage drive because my HDD was on the verge of failure. DA:O worked perfectly before making the switch to an SSD. Literally that is the only thing that has changed (as well as optimizations for the SSD). When I tried installing any .dazip via DAUpdater the status result is not "installed" but instead gives me a result of "error". I used that DAUpdater service beta software thing, says DAUpdater is ready to use. Windows 8.1 already comes with .net framework 3.5 (which includes 2.0 and 3.0). Do I need to activate it or something? When I checked it's already installed and it's check box is ticked (well, has a square dot). Pathways in DAMM: It seems fine. There's the occasional double slash, so I just edit it to one slash. I don't have toolsets, so I just erase that pathway. Corrupted files during install? When I "Repair game" via Origin, it verifies and says everything is okay. Update game? I "check for updates" and it says DA:O is up to date. Fresh install and try to use DAMM, gives me the same results "DAzip/override is already installed." I cannot think of anything else that could make DAMM work. I read through all the comment posts in the DAMM nexus page and there are others that have the same problem, although a long time ago but it doesn't seem that it has been solved. Downloaded the mods from fileplanet instead of Nexus. Doesn't work. Corrupted addins.xml? Incapable of being edited it or something? DAModder adds my .dazips with no problem. Is there anything that I should look out for? Anything that you can recommend or suggest?
  5. Update: So, I installed DA:O, just the main game, on my Windows 7 desktop and on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I attempt to install these three mods: Morrigan Restoration Patch (MRP) (.dazip), NBaio (.override) and FtG UI Mod (.dazip) On Windows 7, using an HDD: - I used DAMM for MRP (.dazip) and it installed with no problem. - I used DAMM for NBaio (.override) and it installed with no problem and am able to configure. - I use DAupdater.exe for FtG UI Mod (.dazip) and it installed with no problem. All appeared installed in DAMM's dazip panel. Curiously, also the official DLCs are shown as installed dazips, which I have not installed via Origin. On Windows 8.1, using an SSD (and settings made for SSD optimizations); - I used DAMM for MRP (.dazip) it gave me the same results: "DAzip is already installed" and it isn't. - I used DAMM for NBaio (.override) and the same results: "DAzip is already installed" and it isn't. - I use DAupdater.exe for FtG UI Mod (.dazip) and the result was a status of "error". Notes (all assumptions unless said otherwise) - DAUpdater doesn't seem to be working on Windows 8.1.
  6. Here are mod managers that can install .dazips: 1. Dragon Age Mod Manager (DAMM): link (instructions for use of DAMM: link), or you can use 2. Dragon Age Modder (DAModder): link Instructions for modding Dragon Age Origins: Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies. If you want to use the DAUpdater, check in "Program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/" then the game folder. The DAUpdater should be in the "bin_ship" folder. I would recommend using DAMM because, for me, it's the easiest to manage and install your mods. Also, if you don't mind, may you please tell me if DAMM installed your mods (.dazips and .overrides) without issues. Thanks and have fun modding. Edit: Most probably you will encounter .override mods (mods with an .override file extension) sooner or later. Only DAMM can install and configure .overrides.
  7. Apologies. I'm using the Dragon Age Mod Manager (DAMM). I used DAModder just a few hours ago and the DAzips installed fine. However, I have difficulties with override files that can be configured (e.g. NBaio). Installing, say, NBaio via DAMM gives me the same results: "Override is already installed." then it doesn't appear in the override panel, where I can right click it and "config". I tried using the daupdater but it won't install the .dazip and results in an "error". I'd really like to know why all of a sudden I'm not able to use DAMM properly since changing my storage drive. The settings for an SSD shouldn't change how DAMM works, right?
  8. Image 1, below, shows my problem. I have installed Dragon Age Origins: UE via EA Origin so many times I fear for my SSD's lifespan. Simply, after a fresh install of everything (main game, DLCs & Awakening), I attempt to just install the Morrigan Restoration Patch. I unzip it, drag the .dazip file into DAMM and it makes a copy in it's own dazip folder. The .dazip then appears in "mods in folder" panel. So far, so good. I then right-click and install. It asks me to install it, I press "yes" and then I am greeted with "DAzip is already installed." As you can see the "Installed DAzips" panel that the new dazip is not at the bottom. Therefore, it isn't installed and it does not show up in the downloadable content check list in DAO. With previous attempts, this, too, happens with overrides, i.e. NBaio. Not even sure if the manually installed overrides get installed. Is there something I'm missing? I've done this so many times now I don't know where I'm going wrong, if I'm doing something wrong. Or if it's my system or something. Image 1 http://i.imgur.com/Amw0LdG.png Not sure if Important but I entered DAO once so it could automatically create these folders, such as the override folder, shown below: http://i.imgur.com/hu2Ot22.png?1 The only thing that has changed since the last time I played DAO modded was that I had to change my hard drive on my laptop because it was on the verge of failing. So I bought a SSD, fresh installed Windows 8 (among other programs).
