Are you using any mods? Also, is your Skyrim up to date?
-
For screenshots, I always use FRAPS. Works well for my purposes, and it can also display your framerate if you want it to. The free version is limited to saving screenshots in .BMP, but hey, it's free.

LITE-ON is the brand. They are inexpensive, and, as far as I can tell, they work well.

Not sure if I can help, but for better information for others that may be able to help, perhaps you could post a list of mods you are using, if any. Also, is your Skyrim and Nexus Mod Manager up to date?

Extra Hotkeys can allow you to block like this, kind of. If you have a weapon in the right hand, and a spell in the left (or anything really) you can hold b to temporarily unequip whatever is in the left hand, allowing the right to block when R-Mouse (or whatever you have it set to) is pressed. It also has a ton of other functions.

First of all, I must say, this is one of the funnier looking bugs I've seen in a while.
As for fixing it, the only thing that I can think of would be that it may be affected by a mod which alters either animations or the character skeleton. If you have any mods that have anything to do with those, you may try uninstalling them, and see if that helps. In order for others to perhaps help you further, you could post a list of any mods you are using, if any. Also, is your Skyrim up to date?

I'm getting the error with the search function on the forums, as well as anything in the Tracker.
EDIT: Tracker seems to be working now.

The UFO mod includes a shout that will stop followers from fighting.

In my experience, it really depends on the mod. If the mod adds textures with high resolutions, or meshes with extreme detail, there will probably be some performance hit, depending on how demanding the models are, and the graphics capability of the computer. Also, if the mod causes an area to have a large quantity and/or variety of objects, this can cause performance hit as well, again depending on the computer running it. Worst case would be an area filled with a variety of objects which have high detail meshes and high resolution textures, with lots of light sources casting shadows on all of this stuff. Mods with scripts probably have an impact too, but I don't really know much about the scripting system in Skyrim, so I don't know for sure.

EDIT: I just realized there is a place dedicated to the posting of bugs. Apologies. I will post this there instead. Delete or lock this if you wish...

UFO allows followers to ride horses, among other things.

Puppeteer Master can do facial animation stuff, though I am not sure how permanent it is.

In that case, would it be best to submit again just to be sure? Or would this risk duplicate reports cluttering up the system? (not really sure how the system works, or if it can be "cluttered up")

Recently when browsing the forums, I have been occasionally getting an error (502, I think). Not really much of a problem, just reload the page and it works fine, but today I got this error twice when reporting posts, before it gets to the page where it redirects back to the post. When this happens, does the report still go through, or does it need to be resubmitted?

I typically back up just a few key items, such as TESV.exe and SkyrimLauncher.exe, and, in the future I will backup Skyrim.esm and Update.esm as well. I think that reverting those should be sufficient to restore an older version. I could be wrong about that, but I have not discovered anything giving evidence contrary to my methods so far.
As far as preventing auto-updates, I remember seeing something posted on Nexus that would prevent it from happening, but I don't remember what it is called. Perhaps it is in the Utilities category.

K i've now got Skyrim 1.5.26.0.5, and Civil Unrest 5B, still no indication it works.
Just curious, how did you get Steam to update to 1.5.26.0.5 instead of the more recent 1.6.89.0.6?

I believe this is a problem with the updated Creation Kit. I am not aware of a fix at this time.

So many great mods, very difficult to choose my favorites. Other than many of my favorites that have already been mentioned,
Deadly Dragons makes for some fun a challenging battles.
Skyrim Monster Mod adds some interesting variety to everything.
Skyrim Monster Mod More-Spawns can cause some rather large, very fun, and quite challenging encounters. In fact, with this mod, and the two above, I once encountered two dragons, around a dozen spriggans, a few bears, a couple werewolves, and an army of spiders all at once. Pure chaos.
The Dance of Death make killmoves much more fun.
WARZONES creates some absolutely massive battles that sometimes take the better part of an hour to finish. Unfortunately, I am unable to run it in combination with the large number of other mods I use...
UFO adds more functionality to followers. Thanks to this mod, I have created a completely customized small army that I can wander around with!
Elven Weaponry adds some great-looking weapons to the game.
Skyrim -Community- Uncapper because there is not such thing as over-levelling.
Kaleen Race adds a very unique race, and has been my favorite race mod since its original release for Oblivion.
Extended Slider Colors because who hasn't wanted to make a bright pink orc with neon-green hair?
And of course I have to mention Valkyrie Shard UNP Armor, since I customized it specifically for my primary character.

You can customize the difficulty of the Deadly Dragons mod, using the in-game configuration menu. You could lower their health and damage for a new character, and gradually increment the settings up as you gain levels.
-
The Dance of Death has a beta out right now that claims to be compatible with 1.6, though I have not tried it myself. As for reverting to 1.5, you could possibly do that if you have backups of all the files that changed. Or you may be able to use the Restore Previous Version option in the Right-Click menu on the affected files.

I had that problem with melee weapons delivering far too many hits per swing when I was using an old version of FNIS. If you are using that, or any other mods that alter behavior files, that could possibly be the source of that problem. Beyond that, I don't know of any other possible solutions.
Perhaps you could post a list of any mods you are using, so that others would have more information to help you.

I don't use workshop for a number of reasons, but the main reason is that it requires the use of the standard launcher to download and update the mods, which, whenever I use that launcher, it decides to change my video settings, every single time. Very tedious to go back through the .ini files and fix everything again.

Is there a mod for dragon spawning.
